11:24 Texas Tailgator land. Last night, game

11:27 one, AJ. Not a whole lot of offense, but

11:29 it was the arms from both sides that

11:32 were the stars of the game. And then

11:33 Coconuts end up prevailing 3 to2. We've

11:36 kind of grown to expect that at this

11:37 ballpark specifically with the wind

11:39 blowing in last night. It was just that

11:40 extra factor that made it so hard for

11:42 any ball to leave the yard. You really

11:44 had to find gaps and pitching defense

11:46 was the story. The Coconut stayed

11:47 gritty. They capitalized on mistakes

11:49 that led to a game one win.

11:52 >> Speaking of game one, we keep talking

11:54 about game one. Why don't we just look

11:57 at game one, like we said, 3 to2 ball

12:00 game. No yay last night, but a lot of

12:02 good pitching, a lot of trick plays. AJ

12:22 story. The Tailgator take over on

12:24 offense. Taj Porter walked off the

12:26 second inning. So, through two innings,

12:27 we've seen two runs and two points, but

12:29 [music] then there was a big lull in the

12:31 middle of the game where it was zero

12:33 after zero after zero scoreless inning.

12:38 inning. Drake [music] Vondo felt like

12:39 Oprah the way that he was just dishing

12:41 out strikeout after strikeout. It was

12:52 last night himself and Chris Clark

12:54 dominated and when the bullpens opened

13:01 bullpen. The first guy out of the

13:02 bullpen gave him the second and final

13:04 point of the night. Blake Benson to the

13:13 missed in the eighth inning that then

13:15 led to this Tanner Allen. An RBI doubled

13:40 yet another comeback. JD Erso worked a

13:44 scored Gideon Antel and it was time for

13:46 a rematch of history. The last time a

13:48 Kyle Martin golden bat took place

13:49 against CJ Williams and ended with a

13:51 game-winning home run. Not this time.

13:53 The villain moved to 11 for 13 in save

13:55 opportunities. He came in and slammed

13:57 the door shut like it was never open in

13:59 the first place. And the Coconuts just

14:01 like that are within striking distance

14:03 at the top of the Banana Ball

14:04 Championship League.

14:05 >> Yeah. And for the first time in a while,

14:07 Tailgator's not in first place. Now,

14:08 albeit they have one more win and one

14:11 more loss than those Savannah Bananas

14:13 who are playing two game series in

14:14 Oregon this weekend. But they have what

14:18 is that 5 1,000 of a point less than the

14:20 winning percentage. Therefore, they are

14:22 in second place. You mentioned it.

14:24 Coconuts one 1,000th of a point away

14:28 from those part animals when it comes to

14:29 winning percentage one through four

14:31 right now. AJ, so so close.

14:33 >> It is. And there's two things that I

14:34 really want you to keep in mind when

14:35 we're looking at these standings. First

14:37 and foremost, the tiebreakers in full

14:39 effect. If the Coconuts and Party

14:41 Animals or Coconuts and Firefighters

14:43 finish with the same record, the

14:44 Coconuts have secured the tiebreaker

14:46 against both teams by winning the season

14:48 series. Then you look at today's game

14:50 and how much it means. A win for Loco

14:52 Beach pulls them within a half game of

14:54 first place ahead of a three-game stint

14:56 against the Clowns. On the other side of

14:58 the equation, the Tailgator after being

14:59 swept last weekend and dropping last

15:01 night's game, getting back in the lefth

15:03 hand column with a bananas loss can move

15:04 them back [music] to the top of the

15:06 standings ahead of their final series

15:08 before the July break. You know, these

15:12 coconuts and these tailgators have been

15:14 powered for much of the year by their

15:15 [music] offenses. And earlier today, our

15:18 very own Rex Castillo got to talk to the

15:21 stars that man the hot corner for each

15:22 [music] of these offenses, Dane Toofflin

15:24 and Jordan Bar.

15:29 >> Hey guys, when you talk about dangerous

15:31 batting orders in our sport, you got to

15:34 talk about what the Texas Tailgators are

15:36 doing and what the local beach coconuts

15:37 are doing. And in fact, we're joined by

15:39 two I'm talking about two of the most

15:41 dangerous bats in this sport. Jordan Bar

15:44 with the Texas Tailgator. Dane Toofflin

15:46 with the Loco Beach Coconuts. Here's a

15:47 crazy stat, boys. The top eight batters

15:50 in our sport, six of them, they wear

15:51 these uniforms. We'll start with Dane

15:53 first. Dane, obviously, a lot of

15:55 attention has gone to what TA is doing.

15:57 A great run so far, but it's not just

15:59 get past one guy. You got to worry about

16:00 the rest of the nine guys in his batting

16:02 order. What's it like to be part of that

16:04 group?

16:04 >> Yeah, I mean, it's it's a blessing. We

16:06 got we have a very very deep lineup. We

16:08 got a lot of guys that can hit the ball.

16:10 Um, obviously when we got pumps, TA and

16:12 myself at the [music] top, we're usually

16:14 looking for a scary first inning and a

16:16 scary start. So, I mean, it's uh it's a

16:18 lot of fun to be a part of. It's fun.

16:19 It's fun to hit behind them because

16:20 they're usually on base every time.

16:22 >> Means a lot of ribbies for that guy. But

16:24 talk about dangerous top of the order.

16:26 Jordan Bar hitting clean up behind Kmart

16:28 who's obviously having a historic run.

16:30 But Kmart, if he's not hitting it out of

16:32 the park, he's usually on base. How much

16:33 fun is it to hit behind that guy and get

16:35 some rubies yourself as well? Yeah, I

16:37 mean, usually he's always on base or uh

16:38 I I get to lead off the second inning

16:40 when he hits a walk-off in the first

16:41 inning. So, uh it's it's been a lot of

16:44 fun and you know, one through 10 we've

16:46 we've been swinging it and yeah, like we

16:48 got a deep lineup. Guys are always on

16:49 base and it's a lot of fun to be a part

16:51 of. The ball will fly out of the park

16:53 here. One final question for you guys.

16:55 When it comes to hitting being

16:56 contagious, Jordan, we'll start with

16:58 you. Does it become contagious? One guy,

16:59 two guys get hit and like, all right,

17:01 everyone's going to be part of this

17:02 party now.

17:03 >> Absolutely. I mean, hitting's super

17:05 contagious, especially when the wind's

17:06 blowing in and we gota, you know, pound

17:08 some singles through some holes and, you

17:10 know, it just seems like they keep

17:11 filing piling up if if it happens. And

17:14 yeah, it's been a lot of fun.

17:17 that also hit at the beach as well,

17:18 Dane?

17:19 >> Oh, yeah. It's at the beach more more

17:20 days than it's not.

23:52 are two of the senses that I've had

23:56 Loco Beach. And there is a hot arm that

23:59 we are going to watch take them on. The

24:00 hottest arm in the Banana Ball

24:02 Championship League. No one's been more

24:03 on than Will Ethric.

24:09 >> Hey guys, thank you so much. I'm now

24:10 joined by pitcher Will Ethric who shared

24:12 a really special and really powerful

24:15 message with a lot of our fans in Banana

24:17 Land last month. Will, talking about

24:19 your mental health journey, how honest

24:21 you were, how vulnerable you were was

24:23 really courageous. But what was it like

24:25 ever since you put out that message in

24:26 that talk in the booth with AJ? What's

24:27 the response been like from Banana Land

24:29 and our fans all around?

24:30 >> I mean, I've had a large amount of

24:33 support from everyone, you know, from

24:34 opening up to the locker room and

24:36 everyone wearing green eye black. Um, it

24:38 really felt like I was at home with with

24:40 some people and uh it felt great to have

24:42 that kind of support and connectivity

24:44 with my teammates and even, you know,

24:46 playing with the firefighters, they were

24:47 more than willing and happy to do it.

24:49 Um, and then ever since then, I've had,

24:52 you know, countless number of fans each

24:53 day come up to me with their support and

24:56 say, "Hey, it really means a lot because

24:57 they're going through the same thing."

24:59 And, you know, having someone speak out

25:00 again about it is just like a very, very

25:03 touching for them. And it it means a lot

25:05 to them and means a lot to me. And we've

25:07 we've had those conversations and, you

25:09 know, we we've built such a good strong

25:12 support system with our fans and and we

25:14 really love love it. So,

25:15 >> you mentioned that a lot of people are

25:17 are supporting you. A lot of people also

25:18 choose to uh, you know, go through this

25:20 mental health journey by themselves,

25:22 which can be a really daunting task ever

25:24 since you've allowed people to uh to see

25:26 what you're going through and be honest

25:28 with it. What's it been like to just

25:30 kind of let that burden out there in the

25:32 world and see all the support come back

25:33 your way?

25:34 >> Oh, it's been incredible. I mean, going

25:36 from, you know, feeling like you're on

25:37 an island to all of a sudden everyone's

25:38 on that island with you. I mean, it's

25:40 it's such a powerful feeling that you're

25:43 just freed up and, you know, can be

25:45 yourself essentially. It's It's allowed

25:46 me to do so much more in life and not

25:49 have to worry about, you know, being

25:50 anxious about certain things and, you

25:52 know, hoping that I just don't have to

25:54 live in a shadow or behind a closed

25:56 door. It's just like everyone's been so

25:58 welcoming and just like hugs and

26:00 everything. I mean, it it means a lot to

26:02 us.

26:02 >> Has it turned into a game changer as

26:04 well? Because speaking about your game,

26:05 it's absolutely you're flying on the

26:07 mound now. Sub two erra, double digit

26:09 strikeouts, one ball four sprint. Has

26:11 that have has the mental health exposure

26:14 that you're you're going through with

26:15 your journey has that led to the

26:16 performance on the field?

26:18 >> Like I said, it it just allows us to

26:20 play freely, you know, talking about it

26:22 and I know there are some other players

26:23 that have came up and spoken up about it

26:25 themselves and you can tell that that

26:27 when you have that weight off your

26:28 shoulder, it it feels so freeing. And

26:30 that's how I felt since I've kind of put

26:32 that message out there. And um just

26:34 having that support, like I said, it

26:36 doesn't matter who it has to be, family,

26:38 friends, teachers, co-workers, you know,

26:41 having someone in your corner, it means

26:42 a lot. And every single one of my

26:44 teammates have my have my back.

26:46 >> And it's amazing to see what you're

26:47 going through. You're an inspiration out

26:49 here, my friend. Thank you so much for

26:50 your honesty, your vulnerability with

26:51 your mental health journey. Guys,

26:55 >> One thing's for certain, I am always in

26:57 Will Ethridge's corner. I appreciate him

26:59 taking the time again to open up and

27:02 openly speak about his mental health

27:04 journey. And let's take a look at the

27:05 numbers. I mean, since the Banana Ball

27:08 Championship League Open, Ethridge has

27:10 been dominant. But in the month of June,

27:12 there has been no pitcher better than

27:14 Will Ethridge. He's made nine starts

27:17 since the open. Let me put that in

27:18 perspective. He didn't start a game

27:20 before the open. So in his nine starts

27:22 this season, Will Aric has gone 35

27:25 innings of work where he's issued just

27:27 10 ball for sprints and has a sub3 RA.

27:29 He's taken his plate to a whole other

27:32 level. The [music] F factor here in the

27:33 month of June has gone 16 innings of

27:36 work with a 16-9 ERA and a 14-1

27:41 strikeout to ball force sprint ratio. I

27:44 cannot emphasize enough how unreal that

27:46 is. KO CD say uh pitcher of the month I

27:51 think so for Will Aric. He's been

27:53 absolutely incredible in the month of

27:56 June and again we very much so

27:58 appreciate him opening up with our very

28:00 own Rex Castillo about his mental health

28:03 journey.

28:38 against Sanchez. So, with a lineup

28:41 that's littered with right-handed bats,

28:42 the Coconuts are going to have to find a

28:44 way to eat against a change of pace guy

29:14 Now let's look at the teams tonight and

29:15 the key to success for both the Coconuts

29:17 and the Tailgator. First, your boys from

29:20 the beach. What they got to do, man,

29:21 it's about play discipline. These

29:23 numbers speak for themselves. Loco Beach

29:24 last night was able to win drawing just

29:26 three ball four sprints. But how about

29:28 games where their offense has four or

29:29 more? Loco Beach is 19 and 17 on the

29:32 year. 12 and three in games where they

29:34 have had four or more ball four sprints.

29:36 That has been the key to success all

29:38 season long. And when you're playing a

29:39 team as talented as the Tailgator,

29:41 you've got to do your best to beat them

29:42 at their own game. Loco Beach is one of

29:44 just two teams this season to win the

29:46 equalizer against these boys in blue and

29:49 orange. Last night, the Tailgator owned

29:50 the trick play contest. The extra point

29:53 would have come in very, very, very well

29:56 for some insurance in the ninth. So,

29:58 Loco Beach looks to out trick the

29:59 Tailgator and remain patient at the

30:01 plate.

30:04 It's that simple. 23 straight games have

30:08 these boys in blue and orange or red,

30:10 white, and blue tonight have recorded 10

30:12 or more trick plays. That is an

30:14 incredible streak [music] that I don't

30:54 but clearly this team elevates their

30:56 play when they're playing in front of

30:57 their faithful fans right here in Texas.

2:51:55 of a few mistakes but a lot of really

2:51:57 good pitching from both sides. Tonight

2:51:59 the difference was Kyle Martin and I

2:52:01 think just like we came to conclusion of

2:52:03 last weekend with the party animals and

2:52:04 the tailgator, the tailgator and the

2:52:06 coconuts are going to be there at the

2:52:07 end in October. Another conclusion I've

2:52:10 drawn from this weekend is these two

2:52:11 teams just play each other so well. It's

2:52:13 so fun to get to watch them go

2:52:15 headto-head. The Coconuts now four and

2:52:16 three on the year against the Tailgator.

2:52:18 This is a season series that likely

2:52:20 won't be decided until the very last

2:52:22 game. These two teams match up

2:52:24 particularly well because it's the

2:52:25 Tailgator defense. It's Kyle Martin.

2:52:27 It's both sides pitching staffs and it's

2:52:29 the Coconuts offense that last night

2:52:30 showed you, you know, you can never

2:52:32 count them out. And even tonight down to

2:52:33 the last out, the tying runs on first to

2:52:35 go ahead run was Tanner Allen at the

2:52:36 plate. So, these games are coming down

2:52:38 to the last pitches. It's what makes

2:52:39 Banana Ball great, but what makes it

2:52:41 truly special is my opportunity to tell

2:52:43 you to please make someone smile between

2:52:45 now and the next time I see you. I love
