2:21 Bananas and the Indianapolis Clouds.
2:24 These squads are fresh off splitting a
2:26 twoame series last weekend in Kansas
2:28 City and are looking to find their
2:30 footing as we near the halfway point of
2:32 the season. The Nanners hold a 1 and a
2:34 half game lead on the top spot in the
2:36 standings. While the clowns sit just two
2:38 games behind the party animals for the
2:40 final playoff spot. We've got two
2:42 [music] rookie South Paws on the bump
2:44 tonight as Daniel Foster makes his
2:46 second start against the Bananas in as
2:48 many weeks. And Tristan Lec makes only
2:50 [music] the second start of his Banana
2:53 Ball career.
2:56 And welcome inside with the statistical
2:58 savant of Banana Ball, Mr. Josh Tleski.
3:01 I am Bo Scalla. Thank you so much for
3:03 spending your Thursday night with us
3:05 here in virtual Banana Land. Happy
3:06 Thursday to everybody who celebrates.
3:09 really cool to get to see what is a
3:11 middle game of five straight battles
3:14 between these two teams who, as we just
3:15 said, split the two game set in KC last
3:17 weekend.
3:18 >> And this is the first regular season
3:20 series the Clowns get in Grayson Stadium
3:22 in franchise history. I know a lot of
3:24 fans have really been anticipating
3:26 getting to watch this team here in
3:28 Savannah, Georgia. So, it should be a
3:30 really thrilling weekend. And the Clowns
3:32 are coming off a franchise best five
3:34 wins in the month of May. working on
3:37 playing a little bit better defensively
3:38 this weekend. And meanwhile on the
3:40 banana side of things, they are still
3:42 trying to figure out a little bit better
3:45 offense starting here in the month of
3:47 June. Now, before we set our sights on
3:49 what to see tonight, let's take a quick
3:51 trip back in time and see what happened
3:53 last weekend because it was a heck of a
3:55 series starting on Saturday night.
3:57 Daniel Foster, who's getting the ball
3:59 this evening, well, he's hoping for a
4:00 better kickoff to his night uh here in
4:03 Savannah. Two batters in Dan Overst to
4:06 the land of good and plenty. Home run
4:08 number five on year number eight for
4:10 Daniel O. That would earn the point in
4:12 the first. And then Bill Loy [music]
4:13 trying to make it two straight points
4:14 for the Bananas. His fourth homer of the
4:16 year. Yeah. And the Bananas would take
4:18 that one-run lead into the bottom OF THE
4:20 SECOND. NICO HOLESIZER would change
4:22 things with one mighty blast. Number six
4:25 on the year for Hollesizer. A threerun
4:28 shot, but it draws the Clowns even with
4:30 the bananas through an in or through two
4:32 innings. Now here in the third inning,
4:34 you see a costly miscue from Noah Nisnik
4:38 throwing this ball away. Bobby Leay able
4:40 to get into scoring position and the
4:42 next batter Joe Lidle rips this down
4:44 [music] the first baseline and the
4:46 Clowns would earn their second point in
4:48 as many innings.
4:50 >> Yeah, really impressive. They entered
4:51 both those uh home half of the frames
4:54 trailing. They're still up 2-1. Top of
4:56 the fifth. Peanuts the elephant [music]
4:57 facing the Nanners for the first time in
4:59 his young banana ball career. Eli
5:01 Payeyton in foul territory. One of his
5:04 three trick plays on the ball game to
5:06 pace the clowns. Same score. [music] Top
5:08 of the seventh. Bill Loy. Nice piece of
5:10 hitting. Should just be a single. And
5:12 well, it is a single in the scorebook,
5:14 but it gets by Joe Ray Jr. Billy
5:16 Barrels. Get on your horse, young man.
5:19 Grappling, stumbling, tumbling, trying
5:22 to go the full 360 ft. Bang bang play at
5:26 the dish. Bill just sneaks in for the
5:28 little league homer. [music] That's Greg
5:29 Jennings effort from Bill Laoy. Put the
5:31 team on his back in the seventh inning.
5:34 Ty Jackson, all of his teammates there
5:36 to hype him up. So, the Bananas two runs
5:38 in the top half of the inning trying to
5:41 earn the point. Chris Burgess second
5:44 three-run big play of the ball game for
5:47 the Clowns who would go up three to one
5:50 against the Nanners. That was with two
5:52 outs, too. Clutch swing [music] from
5:54 Burgess, his second homer of the year.
5:55 Dion Reoso his first career save
5:58 opportunity and after KJ earned the
6:00 sprint to open up the inning, he gets
6:02 him as the golden batter. Daniel Foster,
6:04 the starting pitcher, fired up and the
6:07 Clowns a [music] big 3-1 win with a
6:10 franchise record 14 trick plays to
6:13 double up the Nanners and deny them the
6:15 equalizer point. Chris Burgess, the
6:17 showman of the game.
6:17 >> Yeah, you saw Burgess two for three, a
6:20 double, the walk-off three-run home run
6:22 in the seventh inning. his first career
6:24 showman of the game award. And meanwhile
6:27 on the catching side of things for the
6:28 Nanas, Bill Loy had a great game
6:30 offensively as well. You saw the solo
6:32 home run, his single and the falling
6:35 little league home run that he earned
6:36 and it was Loy. He had two of the
6:38 Bananas six total hits in that ball
6:41 game. So Loy really the guy who was
6:44 churning that offense throughout the
6:46 night. And now we will set our sights on
6:48 Sunday afternoon in the K as the Clowns
6:52 were looking for a sweep and we'll get
6:54 off to a fantastic start. Three batters
6:57 into the bottom of the first. Bobby Leay
6:59 right back where it came from and
7:01 hustling in Joe Gay Jr. who led off the
7:03 inning with a double just like that.
7:05 Clouds up 1 nil. Yeah. Now Brett Maddock
7:07 on the mound in the third inning. Robert
7:09 Anthony Cruz a high chopper with guys on
7:11 the corners. He's able to beat this one
7:13 out. An infield single. Some belly rolls
7:16 from Ty Jackson. And now [music] Matt
7:18 Wolf takes over in a ball game tied at a
7:21 point a piece. Laroy starts off this
7:23 [music] inning, skying this one INTO
7:25 LEFT FIELD. AND it's Brian Dancero
7:28 joining the backflip catch club, the
7:31 10th player in Banana Ball history to
7:33 reach that mark and [music] the first
7:35 Indianapolis clown to ever accomplish
7:38 that feat. How about the Banana Ball
7:40 rookie? A visitor last year. The
7:42 acrobatics [music]
7:43 unbelievable. hard work and dedication
7:45 to make that possible. Congratulations
7:47 to Dan Row. I think the [music] first of
7:48 many backflip catches this year. Monae
7:50 Davis in top of the fifth. Couple
7:51 runners on. How about the [music] hustle
7:53 from JT Sakalum coming in to score from
7:56 second. The throw from Leed got away
7:58 from Burgess. Cruz trying to score from
8:00 first. And nice play here. Monae Davis
8:02 there to put the tag down and stop the
8:05 bleeding which [music] makes it uh it
8:08 would be actually plenty of offense for
8:09 the Ders. earned the point in the inning
8:11 and then reselects the is going to power
8:13 a point in the sixth as well. Sacrifice
8:15 fly out to whole size or nanners 3-1
8:18 lead through [music] six. Now Kelsey
8:19 Whitmore takes over for the bananas and
8:21 with one out here in the seventh.
8:23 [music] Dr. Meadows [snorts] high IQ
8:26 play. He surrenders the point in the
8:27 sacrifice fly but nets a trick play for
8:30 the Bananas in the hunt to try and earn
8:32 that equalizer [music]
8:33 point and son of a gun that would loom
8:35 pretty large in the eighth inning. Brian
8:38 Howard up as [music] the golden batter
8:40 and the former MVP and World Series
8:42 champion flies out to Reese Alexiatis
8:45 who traps it to earn the bananas a
8:47 little extra insurance. 42 the score
8:50 going into the bottom of the ninth and
8:52 Danny Hosley would be able [music] to
8:54 induce this fly up to Dr. Meadows. A tip
8:56 drill for the doctor and the bananas
8:58 would wind up splitting the series in
9:00 Kansas City. Insurance always nice,
9:03 rarely [music] necessary when you have
9:04 Danny Hosley coming in to shut the door.
9:06 A dozen trick plays on the game for the
9:08 Clowns. Another really impressive
9:10 defensive performance [music] in that
9:12 regard. Although, we'll get into it.
9:14 They were a little sloppy uh around the
9:16 edges. And Austin Drury, your showman of
9:18 the game. Once again, dazzling on the
9:19 bump. Yeah, five and a third [music]
9:20 credited innings pitched for the
9:22 Bananas. Had four strikeouts, but what
9:24 really stands out induced 10 of the
9:26 bananas, 16 total trick plays in the
9:28 ball game. and Reese selects [music] the
9:31 not the flashiest offensive stat line.
9:33 Had a single and a key sacrifice fly
9:35 that earned a point, but his three trick
9:38 plays [music] just had so much emphasis
9:40 to them, especially considering he
9:42 earned the bananas, that equalizer point
9:44 in the eighth inning that got them the
9:46 extra breathing room for that four to
9:48 two dub.
9:49 >> Yeah, and the affforementioned
9:51 uh defensive roller coaster ride that
9:53 the Clowns had because the trick plays
9:55 [music] were stupendous. They were
9:56 ripping them at a whole new pace. But
9:58 four trick plays missed and six errors
10:01 helped lead to half the runs scored
10:03 [music] that the Bananas had on the
10:04 whole weekend. Well, you clearly saw the
10:06 Clowns is the home team. They were
10:07 comfortable trying to go for those trick
10:09 plays and knew they wanted to try and
10:10 deny equalizer points, but it did
10:13 [music] result in some trick plays
10:14 missed and errors for this crew. In
10:17 fact, six of the 12 runs the Banana
10:19 scored throughout the series [music]
10:21 came via error or trick play miss. So, a
10:23 lot of unearned runs for that Cloud's
10:25 pitching [music] staff. And they've got
10:26 to clean this up considering they're
10:28 playing as the away team this weekend.
10:30 >> Well, there were highs and lows for the
10:32 defense last weekend in KC. It was
10:34 pretty much all highs offensively for
10:36 the Clowns in May. How about leading the
10:38 Banana Ball Championship League in
10:40 batting average, hits, [music] total
10:41 misses, homers, and slugging percentage.
10:44 I mean, you could single out so many
10:46 guys who contributed to this
10:47 unbelievable [music]
10:48 month of May for the Clowns. Jackie
10:50 Bradley Jr., Joe Bray Jr., Dale Francis
10:53 Jr., Nicolesizer, all those guys. A key
10:56 reason the Clowns [music] lined up tops
10:58 in the BBCL when it came to home runs,
11:00 slugging percentage, total bases, and
11:03 then not only that, they were stringing
11:04 [music] consecutive hits together. A big
11:07 reason they've added 327 in the month.
11:09 Speaking of these Indianapolis clowns,
11:11 they're boogeying down on the field.
11:13 Let's take a look.
11:15 >> A sweetheart to miss. A sweetheart to
11:17 miss.
11:17 >> Sugar to kiss.
11:19 >> A sugar to kiss. I need you. You. I need
11:23 you. You. I need you. You. I need you.
11:31 Let's hear it one more time for the
11:33 original baseball circus, the
11:36 Indianapolis Cloud.
11:48 Savannah, GEORGIA. I NEED EVERYBODY HERE
11:51 ON YOUR FEET.
11:56 That's right, Grayson Stadium. Everybody
11:58 on your feet cuz it's time to meet your
12:04 Savannah Banana.
12:14 Heat.
12:16 Heat.
12:36 those.
13:02 Clap those hands. Clap those hands. Clap
13:06 those hands.
13:12 Heat. Heat.
13:43 LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IT'S TIME TO MEET
13:45 YOUR SAVANNAH.
13:48 [screaming]
13:55 >> WELL, Bill Loy shouts out the bananas
13:57 down on the field. Get a beautiful look
14:00 at historic Racing Stadium. Over 5,000
14:03 fans on hand and the hometown crowd
14:06 thrilled to have the nanners here in the
14:08 Indianapolis Clowns. Their first ever
14:10 regular season. How about Billy? You
14:12 actually caught up with Michael Schwarz
14:14 a little while ago. Carell Prime in
14:15 there as well.
14:19 >> Hey guys, in good company right now with
14:21 Carell Prime from the Clowns and Bill
14:23 Loy from your Savannah Bananas. But I
14:25 got to start off quick. You came here to
14:28 Grayson Stadium, historic Grayson
14:29 Stadium as a fan. You sat over there. Do
14:32 you remember that day?
14:32 >> I do. It was a historic day in Manila
14:34 land. Now in retrospect thinking about
14:36 it, um there was a young girl who, you
14:39 know, found out she was cancer-free that
14:40 night. Dr. pulled a bare bare hand back
14:42 flip catch. So I remember that day, you
14:45 know, forever. So yeah, it was my first
14:46 banana land experience and it it put it
14:49 over the top for me.
14:50 >> Bill Loy caught for you. What was it
14:52 like catching this guy?
14:52 >> I'll tell you what, I truly miss him
14:54 being on my team. I'll say that. Used to
14:55 love working together with him on the
14:57 mound and building that connection and
14:58 even off the field. Just a great dude,
15:00 great friend of mine. So, uh, between
15:02 those lines, it's competition. But out
15:03 of there, we're brothers, man.
15:04 >> Yeah. What's it like going up against
15:06 him?
15:07 >> Uh, well, it's, uh, it's it's different,
15:08 man. It's weird seeing him not in
15:10 yellow, but, uh, I mean, regardless
15:12 we're on the same team or a different
15:13 team, it's just always great to see him
15:15 and great to compete. He's a great ball
15:16 player and even better dude. So,
15:18 >> Carell, what's it like going up against
15:20 this guy?
15:20 >> Uh, man, an old friend, it seems, and a
15:23 new foe, so it's going to be cool.
15:25 Bill's the star of the show. Everybody
15:27 has their eyes on Billy. He's the man.
15:29 He's the standard of excellence in
15:31 banana ball. Um I look up to him in many
15:33 ways, you know, on the field, off the
15:34 field, the same way he said. So just to
15:36 be able to play against him, it's just
15:37 like playing against one of your
15:38 brothers, man. It's you look forward to
15:40 it. You know, I'm circling every day on
15:41 the calendar when we play the bananas,
15:43 and I'm I'm just happy to be here.
15:44 >> Well, we appreciate it. Thank you so
15:46 much, Bill. Thank you so much, guys.
15:48 Such a great
15:51 >> go. They got to run. They got to play
15:54 our amazing sport of banana ball. And to
15:56 learn more about the amazing rules of
15:58 banana ball, let's hear more from Bo and
16:03 Josh.
16:06 Bye. Carell, Prime, Billy, and Michael
16:08 Schwarz. Thank you very much for getting
16:10 it back to us. Let's zoom in on the
16:12 equalizer point. As we just showed you,
16:14 the Nanners able to earn it on Sunday
16:16 afternoon. The Clowns denied it on
16:18 Saturday night. It's all about the away
16:21 team having more trick plays than the
16:22 home team going into your final inning.
16:24 And you could see those trick play
16:26 numbers on Sunday at the bottom.
16:27 >> And last Sunday it was the Bananas. They
16:29 had 13 trick plays through eight innings
16:31 against the Clowns compared to their 12.
16:32 Bananas tacked on three in the ninth
16:34 inning just for kicks and giggles. A
16:37 very impressive output. Their fourth
16:39 equalizer point earned this season as
16:41 well.
16:42 >> Yeah, really impressive work
16:45 this past weekend or Sunday rather for
16:47 the Nanners for the full list of rules
16:50 for banana ball. Let's get it to Jesse
16:52 Cole.
16:54 Banana Ball is the fastest and most
16:56 entertaining show in sports. And the 11
16:58 rules guarantee the [music] most fans
17:00 first experience every second.
17:04 >> Welcome to the Banana Bowl championship
17:06 lead.
17:06 >> Rule number one, win the inning, win the
17:09 point. The team that scores the most
17:11 runs in the inning wins the [music]
17:12 point.
17:13 >> It's a walk-off winner. 50.
17:17 >> Oh my goodness. With the equalizer
17:19 point, trick plays provide the away team
17:21 an opportunity [music] to earn a point
17:23 going into the final inning. And in the
17:25 final inning, every run counts as a
17:27 point. Rule number two, banana ball has
17:30 a 2hour time limit, guaranteeing that
17:33 every game is fast-paced and
17:35 action-packed. Rule number three, no
17:38 stepping out of the batter's box. If you
17:40 do, it will result in a strike.
17:42 >> I stepped out of the box and because he
17:44 stepped out of the box, that's it. Rule
17:46 number four, no bunting, cuz bunting
17:48 [music]
17:49 sucks. If you bunt, you'll be thrown out
17:52 of the game. Rule number five, batters
17:54 [music] can steal first base.
17:55 >> Three, get in taken out for first throw
17:57 from Leroy in time.
18:00 >> Rule number six, there's no walks.
18:02 [music]
18:03 Walks are ball force sprints. The batter
18:05 can advance as far as they want until
18:07 every position player touches the ball.
18:10 >> No defenders have touched the banana
18:12 ball. It is a base spread to open up the
18:15 ball game.
18:16 >> Rule number seven, no mound business.
18:19 [music]
18:20 >> Nope. Rule number eight, foul balls
18:22 caught by a fan count as an out.
18:27 Gordon.
18:29 [music]
18:31 >> Rule number nine, the showdowns. In
18:34 showdowns, the best of the best face off
18:36 in the biggest moment. One hitter verse
18:38 one pitcher with one fielder behind
18:41 them. And the hitter [music] has to
18:42 score.
18:44 >> Center. See you later.
18:47 >> Rule number 10, the banana ball
18:49 challenge rule gives [music] the coaches
18:51 and you, the fans, a chance to impact a
18:54 call on the field. [cheering]
18:55 Rule number 11, the golden batter.
18:58 [music] Once a game, each team can give
19:00 any player in it back, regardless of the
19:02 lineup. This offers the biggest matchups
19:04 on the biggest stage.
19:06 >> Big on big.
19:09 Let's go. Let's go. Let's go.
19:12 >> Get out of here. [screaming] That thing
19:15 had a family.
19:17 >> And those are the rules of banana ball.
19:35 [music]
19:36 Come on.
19:42 Yeah.
19:44 Yeah. Who else really messing with the
19:46 clowns? Been around. You know how we get
19:48 down. Coming through the crowd trying to
19:50 get you loud. IT'S ABOUT THAT TIME THAT
19:53 WE REINTRODUCING. WHAT WE WORKING WITH?
19:55 Let me see your hands. If you're repping
19:58 the Annapolis,
20:00 yeah, we backing even better. Flipping
20:02 through the air. And don't you dare try
20:04 to catch us. Only catches that we making
20:06 is the ball hitting 11. Now you out.
20:08 Bring them out. Next hitter [music]
20:10 better step up. And stepping up is all
20:12 we know. In place under the pressure,
20:14 it's resilience. If you can feel this,
20:16 can nobody do it better, man. Y'all,
20:18 we've been gone way too long, but we
20:21 back and that's a fact. The clowns we
20:23 home. [music]
20:25 >> Everybody wave your hands back and forth
20:28 because the Indianapolis Clowns are
20:30 home, baby. Yeah. Y'all look good,
20:33 Savannah.
20:36 Yeah.
20:39 Because we back and that's a fact. We
20:41 the clouds and we home.
20:44 [music]
20:58 >> Heck of an intro that the Indianapolis
21:00 Clouds have keeps getting better every
21:02 game that they play. This is just game
21:04 27 in their history here in Banana Ball.
21:08 And let's take a look at where they
21:10 stack up through the first 26 games in
21:13 the standings here in the Banana Ball
21:15 Championship League. Clowns 6 and 12
21:17 games behind the Bananas who hold that
21:19 top spot. But as you can see, only two
21:21 games behind the Party Animals will be
21:23 taking on the Coconuts Saturday and
21:25 Sunday. Sunday in their first ever MLB
21:27 headliner without the bananas. Yeah, you
21:29 see the Bananas still with that game and
21:31 a half lead on the [music] Texas
21:32 Tailgator right now. As far as the one
21:34 seed is concerned, this is a big series
21:36 for the Savannah Bananas considering you
21:38 get three [music] consecutive home
21:40 games. And if you're any team in Banana
21:42 Ball, the thing that you want to do is
21:44 maximize all the wins that you can
21:46 playing as that home squad. The Bananas
21:48 have done that [music] exceptionally
21:49 well so far this season. Meanwhile, for
21:52 the Indianapolis Clowns, it appears this
21:54 could be a tough weekend for them.
21:56 Although we're not going to make any
21:57 kind of assumptions, but after this
22:00 weekend, seven straight home games for
22:02 the Indianapolis Clowns, and that should
22:04 bode very well for them as far as these
22:07 BBCL standings are concerned. Yeah, and
22:09 I know the Clowns talking to them,
22:11 they're also on the hunt for two wins
22:12 this weekend. It's just such a big jolt
22:15 in the arm [music]
22:16 if you can win this series for both of
22:18 these squads, obviously. And I'll tell
22:20 you what, tomorrow in Banana Land, the
22:23 plot thickens. It's going to be a
22:24 rematch of both the games we have on the
22:26 docket tonight. Of course, the tailgator
22:28 and firefighters opening up that series
22:30 in truest field in Charlotte. That is a
22:33 new venue for Banana Ball. Make it the
22:36 104th stadium ever played in Banana Ball
22:39 history. And we'll be right back here on
22:41 the Bananas YouTube channel as well as
22:43 True TV. And as always, you can watch on
22:46 Espanol. It'll be on the Bananas YouTube
22:49 tomorrow night as well. Yeah, these are
22:51 really intriguing matchups, especially
22:53 considering these teams are playing each
22:54 other the weekend before. But of course,
22:56 home and away has been swapped for this
22:59 series or this slate, I should say. And
23:02 as close [music] as the tailgator and
23:04 firefighters have played each other
23:05 throughout this season, I am really
23:07 intrigued to see what the firefighters
23:09 can do with the benefit of some
23:11 walk-offs offensively in truest field.
23:14 Yeah, and if you've got multiple
23:16 screens, folks, I highly recommend
23:20 getting the tailgator and firefighters
23:22 going as well as we take a look at the
23:26 parade cast and crew players as well.
23:29 How about Drury and Sat right there
23:31 leading the charge with the banana band
23:33 right behind them. And this is what
23:36 makes these games at Grayson Stadium so
23:38 extra special. You see the princess in
23:40 the background, the mananas in tow as
23:43 well. The banana nanas will be coming
23:44 around the bend [music] here soon
23:46 enough. Uh, it's just such an intimate
23:48 experience here in Grayson Stadium.
23:49 >> I always say that's how you turn rookies
23:51 into veterans in banana ball. You got to
23:53 make them go out there and do the march
23:55 and throw out some beads to folks. Jesse
23:58 Cole in it, of course. There come those
24:02 nanas with split as well.
24:06 And let's get Michael Schwarz involved
24:09 as well. A little while ago, he grabbed
24:11 Fisher Polyor off. He's a busy man
24:13 pregame.
24:17 Hey guys, here back from Kansas City
24:19 with Fiser Polydorf and we're back here
24:21 at the historic 100-year-old Grayson
24:24 Stadium. You like playing here? Historic
24:26 indeed. I absolutely love playing here.
24:28 It's uh 1926. I time travel back to see
24:31 it in all its glory. Before they put the
24:33 artificial Astrotoy on the field and uh
24:36 even today with the TOEFL and all the
24:37 fans with their cellular devices, it's
24:40 still just uh it's an absolute
24:41 spectacle. I'm glad fans can still come
24:43 to this ballpark and enjoy a game. A lot
24:45 more yellow that's shining brighter than
24:46 ever from when you remember. Let's talk
24:48 about shining bright. Your weekend in
24:50 Kansas City at Kaufman Stadium. Your
24:52 first hit at a major league stadium and
24:55 your first extra base hit in banana ball
24:57 that I counted on the old school system
24:59 with you by the foot about 330.
25:02 Indeedly, it was a dashing double. Um it
25:05 was an absolutely awesome experience to
25:06 be in Kansas City. All the fans, they
25:08 were so dedicated to the uh the
25:10 Indianapolis Clowns history. We saw a
25:11 lot of people wearing the original Negro
25:13 League jerseys. We went to the museum.
25:15 Bob Kendrick told us all the stories and
25:17 in his absolute golden voice. Was we had
25:19 a blast in Kansas City. It was fun.
25:20 >> What a storyteller Bob Kendrick is. What
25:23 was that memory that you have that's
25:25 forever ingrained in that old mind of
25:27 yours from that extra base hit?
25:29 >> Probably that uh that double
25:30 celebration. I had been holding on to
25:32 that one for a little bit. I hadn't
25:33 pulled that one out since 1959 whenever
25:35 I was pulling playing back in the polo
25:37 grounds. And uh to be in a major league
25:39 stadium again um it was in all of its
25:41 its grand door. Uh it was it was just
25:43 spectacular to be there. The fans packed
25:45 out. 37,000 people. Man, that's a lot of
25:48 people right there. We pack it in for a
25:51 banana ball game. Fischer, thanks so
25:53 much for your time as always. A
25:55 competitive matchup. As Joe Gray Jr.
25:57 told me, we got to get two wins at least
26:00 and we're right back in this thing. So,
26:01 good luck this weekend.
26:02 >> Cool. Let's get in the dub column.
26:03 Today's going to be a spectacle. Today's
26:05 going to be an absolute ball game. Let's
26:06 do it fans. Let's have a day.
26:12 >> Let's have a day, Mr. Michael. Couldn't
26:14 agree more. Always great to hear from
26:16 Fisher Polyor off here in his first full
26:18 season in Banana Ball. Legendary
26:20 character. And what people don't realize
26:22 is this is the first night game he gets
26:24 to play in Grayson Stadium. I mean, when
26:26 he was playing here as a younger fella,
26:28 they didn't have the light post
26:30 installed in this stadium yet. So
26:32 hopefully the lights not shining too
26:34 bright for Fischer Polydora or the guys
26:36 taking the mound tonight.
26:38 >> Let's get a quick gander at our pitching
26:41 matchup here this evening. Dueling
26:44 southpaws the 6'5 Daniel Foster getting
26:47 the start for the Clowns. The 5'10
26:50 lefty on the bump for the Nanners and
26:52 Tristan Lec. Yeah, this is going to be
26:54 Foster's seventh career banana [music]
26:55 ball start. Meanwhile, Tristan Lec
26:57 making his second career banana ball
27:00 start. So the these guys are still
27:01 pretty fresh in their banana ball
27:03 journeys, but both of these guys
27:05 continue to get stronger as the season
27:07 progresses. [music]
27:08 Foster picked up a win last Saturday
27:11 against this banana squad. [music] And
27:13 meanwhile, Tristan LC not only continues
27:16 to throw up zeros, but man, this [music]
27:19 guy works awfully quick on the pitcher
27:21 mound as well. Currently ranking in the
27:23 top 10 both in minutes per inning this
27:26 year as well as his earned run average.
27:28 Yeah, Josh, you mentioned it out on the
27:30 party plaza when we were talking through
27:32 this. We [music] had Leak earlier
27:33 getting to talk with the fans, hit foam
27:35 balls. He didn't give up an earned run
27:36 in May, 10 and a third innings. Uh he is
27:39 at the peak of his powers [music]
27:41 and the the coaching staff starting to
27:43 really see the potential that they have
27:46 with LC when they went ahead and grabbed
27:49 him in the fifth round. Well, I [music]
27:50 think the thing that you don't want to
27:52 forget about as far as Tristan LC's
27:54 college baseball career went, spent all
27:56 five years at Rhode Island, but 80% of
27:59 his career outings were starts. This is
28:02 the role that he knows and loves. So,
28:04 the Bananas should still feel awfully
28:07 confident going with LC and likely
28:09 Nisnik and Drury throughout the weekend.
28:11 Can't wait to see how it unfolds. Let's
28:13 get fired up for that. We'll get it down
28:15 to the young professor.
28:19 Ladies, gentlemen, boys and girls, and
28:24 potassium enthusiasts from around the
28:25 world. Tonight, you and thousands of
28:28 your friends here live and millions more
28:31 watching at home have gathered here to
28:34 witness something beyond your wildest
28:37 imagination. From Montana to Savannah,
28:41 from the aisle of man to Tokyo, Japan,
28:45 the banana maniacs come from across the
28:47 globe to witness this. This is not
28:51 baseball. This is the Crucible where the
28:55 fastest, hungriest, and most
28:57 entertaining players are forged. This is
28:59 a game of the fans, by the fans, and for
29:04 the fans. But this is not your
29:07 granddad's pastime. This is not just
29:10 another night at the ballpark. This game
29:13 is baseball by birth, fruit by name, and
29:16 an absolute WORLDWIDE PHENOMENON BY THE
29:19 GRACE of God. THIS IS THE TIME for this
29:22 capacity crowd AT HISTORIC GRAYSON
29:25 STADIUM TO GET ON YOUR FEET AND GIVE ME
29:29 YOUR voices
29:34 because this IS THE GREATEST SHOW IN
29:38 SPORTS. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THIS IS
29:42 BANANA BALL. [screaming]
29:46 It's time to meet the starting lineup
29:49 for your Savannah Bananas.
29:53 Leading off in center [music] field
29:55 number five, Dr. The Doc Meadow.
30:04 The DH number 19, Dan Ober.
30:12 After
30:17 base number four, Kyle KJ Johnson.
30:25 Behind the plate, the catcher number
30:27 one, the captain, BILLY.
30:43 In left field number 15, we call him
30:45 Rack Robert Anthony Cruz
30:57 in right field. Number two, Reese
30:59 Superman.
31:01 Alexis
31:10 at shortstop. Our glove magician number
31:13 six, Brian Cox.
31:22 The extra hitter number seven, ty
31:27 Jackson.
31:35 At first base, number nine, Max Young
31:39 Goldberers.
31:47 And at second base, number eight, he is
31:49 our greatest showman, Jackson
31:53 Olson.
32:03 On the mound for your Savannah Bananas
32:05 tonight, number 31, Tristan L.
32:13 Your Savannah Bananas are led by Tyler
32:16 Gillum, assisted by Adam Broy, Ryan
32:20 Kellogg, Bryce Silver, and the legend
32:24 Reggie
32:25 For.
32:29 [music]
32:33 That's the Bananas lineup. Now, we're
32:36 going to get our national anthem. We are
32:37 oh so close to first pitch.
32:40 >> You're able. and remove your caps. Here
32:43 to honor America with the singing of
32:46 tonight's national anthem, please
32:48 welcome.
32:52 Luna Xander
32:59 say
33:02 [singing]
33:06 early. [singing]
33:09 What so proudly we held
33:14 at the twilight
33:16 last gleaming
33:19 who's brought stripes and [singing]
33:21 bright stars
33:23 through the perilous [singing]
33:26 fight
33:28 or the ramparts
33:30 we watched
33:33 were so gallently [singing]
33:36 streaming
33:38 and the Rockets,
33:42 the bombs bursting [screaming]
33:45 in
33:47 gave proof through the night
33:51 that our flag was still there.
33:56 Oh, say dust [singing] that star
34:00 spangled
34:03 yet
34:08 or the land of the free.
34:14 [cheering]
34:18 [singing]
34:24 Ladies and gentlemen, Luna Xander.
34:33 Fantastic rendition of the national
34:35 anthem from Luna. And we are ready to
34:38 rumble. Full capacity historic Grayson
34:40 Stadium. The 579th
34:43 straight soldout crowd in Banana Land
34:46 get to witness the most electric kick
34:48 line in all of sports. It's the 16-9
34:51 Savannah Bananas against the 10 and 16
34:55 Indianapolis Clowns. Only 6 and 12 games
34:58 separate the top team in the sport from
35:00 the current stellar dwellers who in the
35:03 Clowns are only two games out of a
35:05 playoff spot. So much parody here in the
35:07 inaugural season of the Banana Ball
35:09 Championship League. And of course, a
35:11 reminder, these two teams split a twoame
35:14 series last weekend in Kaufman Stadium,
35:17 Kansas City, Missouri, home of the
35:19 Kansas City Royals. There will be a
35:21 victor of this three-game set here in
35:24 Savannah, the hostess city of the South.
35:26 Reginald Horton and Jesse Cole getting
35:29 their groove on as only they can.
35:33 Probably up to 40,000 steps already
35:36 inspired by Big Yellow himself. And here
35:39 is how the Ners line it up defensively.
35:41 Left, right, in the outfield, the usual
35:43 suspects. Robert Anthony Cruz, Dr.
35:45 Meadows, and Reese Alexi. [music]
35:47 Third to first in the infield, Kyle
35:49 Jackson, Ryan Cox, Jackson Olsen, and
35:51 Max Young Goldberg. It's Bill Loy behind
35:53 the dish, and Alex Eagler, the
35:55 designated fielder. We expect to see him
35:57 at first base a ton.
35:58 >> Well, I think it fell kind of under the
36:00 radar, but Reselect Zatis might have had
36:02 the best defensive month in his banana
36:04 ball career last May. 19 trick plays in
36:07 right field and he did not miss a single
36:10 trick play. He has been automatic as of
36:13 late. Meanwhile, Coxy still third in
36:15 Banana Ball with 55 trick plays. In the
36:17 middle of it all, the 24year-old out of
36:19 Niantic, Connecticut, Tristan Lec, the
36:21 Banana's fifth round draft pick in the
36:23 inaugural Banana Ball player draft. And
36:26 his numbers here in his rookie season as
36:27 a nanner stupendous.
36:29 >> Yeah. 1 and0 record in his rookie
36:31 campaign and in the month of May. 10 in
36:33 the third innings pitched without
36:34 allowing a single earned run. In that
36:36 span, LC issued five ball four sprints
36:39 compared to six strikeouts. But he just
36:41 continued to get outs and find a way for
36:43 the bananas. Currently ranks fifth in
36:45 banana ball with his 3.20 earned run
36:48 average. And 42 a half of his outs this
36:51 season have included a trick play. It is
36:54 a fearsome lineup that is on the other
36:56 side of the card when it comes to the
36:59 Indianapolis Clowns. Joe Gray Jr. at the
37:01 top as per usual, followed by Jackie
37:03 Bradley Jr. still hitting .426 games
37:07 into his banana ball career. Then Bobby
37:09 Leay making a home for himself in the
37:11 three hole. Joe Laddle the cleanup man
37:12 just dipped below 400 himself. Dale
37:15 Francis Jr. still scorching hot. Then
37:17 Carell Prime, Eli Payeyton, Nicolesizer,
37:19 Chris Burgess, and Jaylen Vasquez to
37:21 round it out.
37:22 >> Well, the Clowns do a lot of damage
37:23 early in ball games. They are batting
37:25 372 as a team in the first inning of
37:29 play this season. That is the top mark
37:31 of all six teams in the Banana Ball
37:33 Championship League.
37:37 >> Jesse Cole is about to start the clock.
37:39 Let's get it on down.
37:40 >> Banana Nation, it is time on three. I
37:44 need everyone here to yell start the
37:47 clock. One, two, three.
37:53 Showtime leading up for the
37:55 >> The twohour timer
37:57 is ticking. It will only matter if it
37:59 runs out before we get to the ninth
38:01 inning, which has only happened in one
38:04 of the 25 Savannah Bananas games here in
38:07 2026. You get a look at the numbers for
38:09 Joe Gray Jr. here in his rookie
38:11 campaign. One of the fourth round draft
38:13 picks for the expansion team, the
38:17 Indianapolis Clowns, joining the Frey
38:20 alongside the Loco Beach Coconuts.
38:25 Joe three for seven last weekend with
38:26 the double.
38:28 >> Fooled on the change up as the count's
38:30 even at one and one.
38:32 >> Yeah, and that's one of those money
38:33 pitches for Tristan Lec. The reason he
38:35 was so successful in his first start
38:37 here in Grayson Stadium was very much
38:39 because of that change is this ball is
38:42 grounded to Kyle Jackson. He transfers
38:45 between the legs and Ziggy scoops it
38:47 BETWEEN HIS AS WELL. THREE PITCHES into
38:51 the ball GAME AND THE BANANAS WITH A
38:53 PAIR of trick plays. That is ridiculous
38:56 stuff from Alex Ziggler, the designated
38:59 fielder at first base from the get-go.
39:02 And trap that ping right around the
39:05 Nether region.
39:07 Well, there's a reason he's smiling that
39:10 wide for the bananas right now. I mean,
39:12 this guy just continues to dazzle his
39:15 teammate. base saying his praises when
39:18 it comes to what to what he can do from
39:20 a trick play standpoint at first base.
39:24 Saw him attempt one in warm-ups earlier
39:26 today. Got it right off the kester. He
39:28 was hopping around like he like he got
39:30 bit by something.
39:32 It's good to see that that was a
39:34 successful attempt for the Zagler. Two
39:38 balls in a strike on the legend Jackie
39:41 Bradley Jr. 11 years in the bigs. eight
39:44 of them with the Boston Red Sox where he
39:45 won a pair of World Series
39:49 and the first everyday big leager fresh
39:52 off his MLB career. He was just with the
39:56 Kansas City Royals in 2023 to come to
39:58 Banana Ball. And boy are we blessed for
40:00 it. This is going to be a long run.
40:01 Robert Anthony Cruz backpedaling,
40:04 battling the sun, can't make the basket
40:06 catch as JBJ cruises into second.
40:12 the official scoring decision. This is a
40:15 tricky one for Josh.
40:16 >> It is very tricky. And you see Rex
40:19 starting to get himself in position. He
40:21 doesn't touch that banana ball, but it
40:23 does feel like an ordinary effort kind
40:25 of play
40:27 right now. I'm I'm going to go with an
40:28 E7 on Cruz. I agree with it. It would
40:32 only be the second error of the year on
40:34 Rack. And I think if you ask coach Rack,
40:38 he would he would tell you he should
40:40 have had it with ordinary effort.
40:42 Definition
40:44 of an error as it's a quick 02 count on
40:47 Bobby Leidday.
40:49 Nice ladder there from LeC. Part of his
40:51 four pitch mix
40:53 and a great Scott stop by Bill Loy to
40:56 keep Bradley on second.
40:59 >> Le hitting 314.
41:02 Had a heck of a weekend. Four for eight.
41:05 a triple and the second walk-off of his
41:08 young banana ball career last weekend
41:09 against the Bananas.
41:10 >> He's been so good with runners in
41:12 scoring position this season. A 438 mark
41:15 and hoping that'll rise a little bit
41:17 higher as LC delivers the 2-2 and that
41:20 is swung on and missed. Great spot below
41:24 the zone and Leeday whipping through it
41:26 as LC gets strikeout number one on the
41:29 night. Get another look.
41:32 Certainly off speed. He's got the fast
41:34 ball, high 80s, touch 90, got up to 92
41:39 in his college career.
41:41 Change of curveball and slider in his
41:43 back pocket as well.
41:46 As you get a look at the fantastic
41:47 numbers for Joe Lidle,
41:53 still hitting 396, the 477 on base
41:56 percentage. That's the best on the
41:58 clowns.
42:01 former party animal and firefighter here
42:04 on his third team in the sport. And
42:07 wherever he goes, he hits.
42:11 >> Trick pitch attempt. Fast ball is low.
42:23 >> The one two
42:26 spoiled by Lidle, one of the toughest
42:28 guys to strike out in the sport. Well,
42:30 you saw a veteran move there from
42:31 Tristan Lec. A little bit of a stutter
42:33 step before delivering to Lidle trying
42:35 to throw off his timing with this two
42:38 strike delivery, but Lidle a banana
42:40 ball. Vet lines the next pitch up the
42:42 middle and into center field. There was
42:44 a second where it looked like Bradley
42:46 was going to get the wave around from
42:48 Coach Fox, but gave him the stop sign.
42:51 So, two outs and runners on the corners
42:54 for Indianapolis.
42:55 Well, that's Eric Fox, who was an
42:58 assistant coach on the Bananas
42:59 Collegiate team when Dr. made his debut
43:01 in Banana Land 2022 Collegiate Savannah
43:05 Banana and was an assistant coach on the
43:07 Nanner squad last year as well. That's
43:09 one of the best arms in the sport. And
43:11 it was a perfect throw from the doctor
43:13 straight to home plate. I think JBJ
43:15 would have been in trouble had he gotten
43:17 the windmill from Foxy. So, runners on
43:20 the corners, a ball and no strikes on
43:23 Dale Francis Jr. There are the numbers.
43:25 They are fantastic. Hitting .349, four
43:28 homers. Three of them came two weekends
43:30 ago in Tacoma, Washington against the
43:32 Party Animals.
43:35 >> Anders were able to keep them in check
43:36 last week and they only went one for
43:38 six. No extra base hits.
43:47 >> And now a ball and two strikes. Well,
43:49 the great thing that LeC has done
43:52 despite the fact this inning now over
43:53 five minutes for the left-hander, he has
43:56 continued to jump ahead in counts
43:57 against Leed Lidle. And now Dale Francis
44:00 Jr. who blasts this one into left field
44:03 and that will be over the head of Robert
44:05 Anthony Cruz and roll all the way to the
44:07 wall. Bradley Jr. in and Lidle getting
44:10 the wave around. It is a two two-run
44:12 double courtesy of Dale Francis Jr.
44:18 Tell you what, that kid can hit.
44:23 >> One of the many Earthskin boys
44:25 >> here in Banana Land. They can all swing
44:28 the stick
44:29 >> as Kobe Robinson
44:32 >> and Clark Gilmore with a fun boogie to
44:34 celebrate the two runs in the top of the
44:37 first for the Clowns. And again, this is
44:38 exactly kind of what we were alluding to
44:41 before the Clowns came up to bat. 372
44:44 batting average in the first inning of
44:46 play. They come out and they are ready
44:48 to swing against whoever is taking the
44:51 mount. And there are a plethora of
44:53 talented starting pitchers in this
44:55 league. It really hasn't affected
44:57 Indianapolis whatsoever.
45:00 Prime with the barrel that's into left
45:02 field. Rat coming up throwing. It's a
45:04 stop sign for Francis as it's a perfect
45:07 one hop throw to the dish from Cruz.
45:11 So, three straight hits with two outs.
45:13 Lidle Francis and Prime. Two runs are
45:16 in. Two runners on the bases as Prime
45:20 gives a big hug to his former teammate
45:22 Alex Eaggan.
45:24 And now Eli Payton's trying to make this
45:26 a crooked number.
45:28 Reminder, these runs unearned against
45:30 Tristan Le. The error from Rack on the
45:33 second batter of the game prevented what
45:36 should have been a one, two, three
45:37 inning for LC. And this is now
45:39 backto-back starts. He only starts in
45:41 Tristan's career. Both of them coming in
45:43 Savannah where he's given up multiple
45:45 unearned runs in his first inning on the
45:47 mound. It was a three spot from the
45:49 Coconuts three weekends ago. None of
45:51 them earned.
45:53 What should be noted though is the three
45:55 innings following that first. All zeros
45:58 for Tristan Lec. He settled in extremely
46:00 well after experiencing some difficulty.
46:05 >> Deuce is wild now. Two count with two
46:08 outs.
46:12 And it is full on Payton.
46:15 >> That will let loose Prime from first.
46:17 He'll be off on the pitch soon as he
46:19 knows LeC is going home with it. There
46:21 goes Prime. Foul ball. Will do it again.
46:26 Eli Payton have having himself a superb
46:29 rookie campaign. Hitting .305 on base
46:32 percentage north of 400.
46:35 Spoils another two strike offering. And
46:38 it's almost falling under the radar
46:40 considering this guy's kind of hitting
46:42 seven and eight in this deep clowns
46:43 lineup. Yet he's posted a 126 OPS plus
46:47 26% better than the tour average bet and
46:50 earning an RBI ball for Sprint. Fast
46:53 ball just misses below the knees. It's
46:54 our first sprint of the night. All seven
46:56 fielders behind the pitcher and catcher
46:58 have to touch the ball before it's live.
47:01 So Francis scores easily from third.
47:04 >> Prime takes his spot on the other side
47:05 of the diamond.
47:11 Payton replaces Prime at first and
47:13 Holesizer tries to keep the carousel
47:15 spinning.
47:17 Nice back door bender to jump ahead.
47:23 Nico only hitting .241. I think that
47:25 batting average will fly up as he gets
47:29 more used to banana ball pitching. This
47:31 guy who spent six years in minor league
47:33 baseball between the Dodgers and Ray
47:34 Systems as Payton is off, but it's a
47:37 swing and a miss from Hullizer. The only
47:38 bugaboo for him in his young banana ball
47:41 career, the strike out.
47:44 Leaves him on the corners, but three
47:47 clowns come around to score before that.
47:50 And Indie with a golden opportunity to
47:53 claim the first point available here
47:56 tonight as he get another look at the
47:58 excellent offspe pitch from LC getting
48:02 his second K of the frame. And here's
48:05 the Clowns defense that has three runs
48:07 to play with here in our first inning of
48:10 action. Left to right in their outfield.
48:11 It's wholeizer Bradley and Gray. Third
48:14 to first in the infield, Payton, [music]
48:15 Leay, Vasquez, and Prime. Burgess is the
48:18 battery mate of Foster and Matt Wolf the
48:21 [music] designated fielder.
48:22 >> Well, Leave the team leader with 40
48:23 trick plays this season. Currently in
48:25 the top 10 in banana ball in total trick
48:27 plays. And here's the thing, the Clowns
48:29 have a lot of breathing room now in the
48:31 bottom half of this inning. So, they're
48:33 at Liberty to rip those trick plays,
48:36 seeing as how it's not exactly going to
48:37 put them at a disadvantage quite yet,
48:39 unless base runners [music] continue to
48:41 get on. That might help them as they try
48:43 and earn the equalizer point tonight. If
48:45 the visiting team has more than the
48:47 [music] home team through eight innings,
48:49 they get an extra point.
48:50 >> You saw three trick plays next to the
48:53 name of Daniel Foster, the 23-year-old
48:56 rookie on six round draft picks for the
48:58 Clowns. He grabbed two of them last
49:01 Saturday in his start against the
49:03 Bananas and starting to settle in with a
49:05 role he's a little more familiar with.
49:07 >> Yeah, this is his seventh start of the
49:08 season for the Indianapolis Clowns. He
49:10 is the lone left-handed pitcher on this
49:12 squad. Nonetheless, they love him
49:14 getting the ball from the jump and he
49:16 earned his first career win last
49:18 Saturday in Kansas City through four and
49:21 four and two/3 innings against the
49:23 Savannah Bananas and induced 11 trick
49:26 plays in that start and that included
49:29 four in the first inning of play. The
49:32 imposter
49:34 is as funky a southpaw as you will find
49:37 in baseball or banana ball. Get a look
49:39 at the Nander starting lineup. David Ray
49:42 Meadows at the top as per usual. Then
49:44 it's over, KJ, and Loy in the cleanup
49:47 spot, followed by Rack, Super Reese,
49:49 Cox, Tai, MJG, and Olsson. It's the
49:52 first time Loy is in the cleanup spot
49:54 this season for the Savannah Bananas.
49:56 But he has certainly earned that nod
49:58 here tonight. Four home runs since the
50:00 start of April. He's averaging a home
50:03 run every 11 at bats in that span. So,
50:06 he's been hitting for some pop.
50:09 Grounder to Bobby Leay between the legs
50:12 across the diamond
50:14 just in time to get the speedy Meadows.
50:19 >> And just like that, Clowns first trick
50:23 play of the game. Two pitches in.
50:26 >> Yep. Nice and easy for Bobby Leay. And
50:29 you see the throw over to Carell Prime.
50:32 Pretty perfect. We've heard Ryan Cox and
50:34 some other shorts stops talk about the
50:36 glare that those short stops get at that
50:38 position early in games here in Grayson
50:40 Stadium, but didn't seem to affect Leay
50:43 there. Ober's chases and is quickly
50:45 behind O2. Foster
50:49 looking for the K.
50:51 Nice spoil there by Dan who homered off
50:54 of Daniel Foster. first plate appearance
50:58 he had in Kansas City and then went 0
51:01 for seven his next seven trips to the
51:03 dish.
51:07 >> Big hopper behind the back. Eli Payton
51:10 across the diamonds
51:12 >> and seven pitches for Daniel Foster. Two
51:15 quick outs, both of them trick play.
51:18 >> And this is what was working for Daniel
51:20 Foster a weekend ago. He was a ground
51:23 ball machine for the Indianapolis
51:26 Clowns. And you see the first two outs
51:28 tonight, ground balls that Fosters
51:30 induced and both of them have finished
51:32 in trick plays.
51:37 >> That was something special from KJ.
51:40 >> I don't know what it was.
51:44 But I am very much not online, so I
51:47 really don't stand a chance in that
51:48 department. Look out.
51:50 Supposed to be a front door bender.
51:52 nearly clips the second or the man in
51:56 his second full world tour. Third year
51:57 that KJ's been on the bananas.
51:59 >> I know this. It wasn't a scuba.
52:02 >> I I agree. We can check that off.
52:07 >> Knee juggle from Foster and it's fouled
52:10 away by KJ. Chance for the fans. Nope.
52:14 Lands on top of the grand stand.
52:26 Right back to Foster. Nice snag behind
52:28 the back transfer. Make it three trick
52:30 plays across the last two weekends for
52:33 the crafty Southpaw.
52:36 He's got the Clowns up one- nothing in
52:38 the game and up 3-2 in trick plays. You
52:40 couldn't ask for a better start if
52:41 you're the Indianapolis Clowns. Three
52:44 runs in the opening frame and then three
52:46 trick plays in a 2minut and 23 second
52:50 inning from Daniel Foster. The Clowns a
52:53 lot of momentum early here tonight.
52:56 Yeah, the Danners one inning in are
52:57 behind which is something that they have
53:00 not been very used to here in 2026. A
53:03 4-1 record when in Grayson Stadium and
53:06 hitting 310. OPS above 850. The erra
53:10 well below the league average at 5.08.
53:12 And you can see a vast improvement from
53:15 their first five games a year ago.
53:16 >> Yeah, I mean that 2025 squad just
53:19 [music] started out really slow playing
53:21 here at home. You saw the team wasn't
53:23 hitting all that well collectively and
53:25 the pitching was a huge problem against
53:27 the boys in black and pink, those party
53:29 animals. Meanwhile, you've just seen all
53:31 the improvements that a lot of these
53:33 veterans on offense have made going
53:35 [music] from that 258 mark to 310 with
53:38 an 855 OPS. And we've talked so much
53:41 about how good the pitching has been for
53:43 the Bananas this season. That has
53:45 certainly been the case here in Grayson
53:47 Stadium. And most of the time in these
53:50 regular baseball stadiums, I should say
53:52 the football stadiums are what have
53:54 really hurt the Bananas pitching staff
53:56 for the most part.
53:59 >> Jesse Cole in company delivering yellow
54:01 roses to folks in the stands.
54:09 So great getting to be
54:12 >> back in our refurbished
54:15 100-year-old ballpark. Historic Grayson
54:17 Stadium. Does not look 101 years old.
54:19 I'll tell you that much.
54:22 Chris Burgess, the Dunkin Donut batter
54:24 of the game. If he strikes out,
54:27 then our friends here in Savannah get
54:29 free donuts courtesy of Duncan. Great
54:32 numbers for Burgess here in his first
54:36 world tour. Looking like a steal in the
54:37 eighth round.
54:40 Big swing a miss. Center cut fast ball.
54:44 >> Two for six with a homer, a double, and
54:46 a walk-off last weekend against the
54:48 Nanners.
54:50 Showed you the long ball on the pregame
54:52 show. It was a behemoth three-run shot.
54:57 >> And this is a great piece of hitting.
54:58 Shortens up, lines it to right. Alexi
55:01 thought about a throw to first. No
55:03 chance to get Burgess hustling down the
55:05 line. as he stays hot.
55:09 >> Yeah, Burgess just shortening up the
55:11 approach going down 02 very early.
55:14 >> Gets on for the Clouds and now is
55:16 replaced on the base pass by designated
55:18 runner Malachi Mitchell.
55:23 >> Jaylen Vasquez not fooled by the
55:25 breaking ball, leaves it low.
55:29 >> This is where Flash during his sixth
55:31 World Tour just makes things so much
55:33 more trickier on a pitcher. Le gives him
55:35 some attention. Welld deserved.
55:38 >> Malachi 16 steals pacing the BBCL.
55:44 >> And you got to look at the numbers there
55:45 from Jaylen Vasquez, former Orioles
55:48 minor leaguer. Only hitting 278, but a
55:51 420 on base percentage.
55:54 >> 12 ball four sprints to just nine
55:56 strikeouts.
55:59 Been very patient approach.
56:06 And tough to keep the numbers that good
56:08 when you're getting sparing playing
56:09 time. He only got one plate appearance
56:11 last week and went 0 for one. Yeah,
56:13 second base has kind of been a revolving
56:14 door for Indianapolis. They like putting
56:16 Wolf there. Vasquez and Kirkland Banks
56:18 as well, but JB getting the start and
56:20 popping this one in foul territory. Kyle
56:23 Jackson sizes this banana ball up and
56:26 snacks it behind the back. And we are
56:29 back to even in our trick play battle.
56:31 Three a piece for the Nanners and
56:33 Clowns.
56:35 >> Already the second of the game for KJ
56:37 who's up to 40 on the tour with only
56:40 five missed. Check that. Make it seven
56:43 trick plays missed for Kyle Jackson. And
56:45 LC will send another pickoff attempt
56:48 over at Flash. A quick pitch, but the
56:50 fast ball wide to Joe Gray Jr. back at
56:53 the top of the order.
56:58 Bounced into a double trick play his
56:59 first time. KJ to Ziggler.
57:07 Flash was off on the pitch, so no chance
57:09 at two as Cox goes between the legs.
57:15 Four trick plays
57:17 on five outs now for the Nanners
57:21 with Mitchell into scoring position.
57:24 Had a lot of ground balls here tonight
57:26 so far in Grayson Stadium. And you see a
57:29 little bit more of a conservative
57:30 approach from the bananas, especially
57:32 with Flash moving into scoring position.
57:34 Ziegler not trying anything risky there.
57:37 Making sure he gets a second out for LC,
57:39 especially considering had a lot of woes
57:42 with two outs the inning prior.
57:46 And his RA would actually be on the hook
57:48 for this one, unlike the three runs that
57:51 came across in the first. [music] a big
57:53 time
57:55 >> fast ball just misses the inside corner.
57:58 Two-1 count on JBJ. Reached on the E7
58:02 that opened the floodgates for the
58:04 Clowns in the first.
58:08 >> And now he's got Lebec one bad one away
58:12 from giving the Clowns another run.
58:18 Chopper Cox backhand between the legs
58:21 right to the chest.
58:24 >> Three trick plays on the frame for
58:26 Baners. Le able to strand the leadoff
58:28 runner and the Bananas back out in front
58:31 when it comes to trick plays. Big plays
58:34 from Ryan Cox, the glove magician. But
58:36 no surprise, he's able to get those outs
58:39 and the trick plays for the guys in
58:41 yellow.
58:44 Great bounceback inning for LeC and his
58:46 defense.
58:50 >> Came into the second inning down a trick
58:52 play. They lead up two. Trying to make
58:54 it back-to-back games where they earn
58:57 the equalizer point.
59:04 >> And what an evening for Banana Ball here
59:06 in our city by the sea. About 77°
59:11 as per usual.
59:13 Not an open seat in the place
59:18 >> here for the 405th banana ball game ever
59:21 played.
59:22 >> The 297th for the Nanners. 298. I beg
59:27 your pardon.
59:27 >> There you go.
59:28 >> They had 29.
59:29 >> We're creeping closer to some history.
59:31 >> Uh-oh. If anybody can do the math,
59:34 sounds like there's a big one coming.
59:36 >> Saturday. Saturday. Saturday.
59:38 >> Don't miss the 300th Bananas game.
59:42 And please give Josh Tleski for any
59:45 monster truck or wrestling promos you
59:48 need cut.
59:48 >> I don't just do Sullivan's Crossing,
59:50 guys. [laughter]
59:52 >> It's just how he got his start in the
59:53 voice over missing.
59:59 Billy Barrels
1:00:03 >> got himself a homer off Daniel Foster
1:00:05 the first time he faced him
1:00:09 >> this past Saturday.
1:00:12 deposited one into the bullpen in
1:00:14 Kaufman Stadium.
1:00:16 >> Now in left field where all four homers
1:00:18 of the weekend went. Two from each team.
1:00:21 Prime and Burgess both giving this a
1:00:23 good chase, but it ends up in the
1:00:25 bleachers and not caught by the fans.
1:00:32 Chris Burgess with a power slide right
1:00:34 into bunch of media members
1:00:38 sit sitting crisscross applesauce on the
1:00:40 field.
1:00:42 >> Got to get creative when you got a
1:00:44 100-year-old ballpark and
1:00:46 a lot of media folks who want to cover
1:00:48 this sport.
1:00:48 >> It looks good for the pictures they
1:00:50 take.
1:00:54 >> Count even at two and two on Bill.
1:01:00 and he smokes it fair down the left
1:01:02 field line. Another extra base hit for
1:01:04 the Ners captain. He cannot be stopped
1:01:07 as he coasts into second with a double.
1:01:11 >> Well, now Bill with an eightgame on base
1:01:13 streak for the Savannah Bananas. And
1:01:15 this guy was certainly the spark plug of
1:01:17 the offense last weekend in KC. Three
1:01:20 for eight. Had a double last weekend and
1:01:23 now has one to start this series in
1:01:25 Savannah. Another look at the two bagger
1:01:29 for Loy. JT Saklov has taken his place
1:01:31 at second. So the Nanners insert their
1:01:34 designated runner and a golden
1:01:36 opportunity for Robert Anthony Cruz to
1:01:38 tie this game.
1:01:41 >> Ball in a strike on rack here in his
1:01:43 third tour.
1:01:44 >> Hey, did you hear that? We're going to
1:01:45 go bananas next.
1:01:47 >> One for six with a sprint. Couple runs
1:01:49 driven in last weekend against the
1:01:50 Clowns. Yanks this foul.
1:01:54 out. Seth Markham, first base umpire's
1:01:56 rocking a glove.
1:01:58 Looks like it might be one of those
1:01:59 training gloves. I mean, that thing is
1:02:01 minuscule.
1:02:06 >> First time I've ever seen an umpire wear
1:02:07 a glove.
1:02:10 >> Now, they still can't catch a foul ball
1:02:12 though, and it count as an out.
1:02:13 >> Sakov off for third. Rack swung and
1:02:15 miss, but the ball got away from
1:02:17 Burgess. Throw to first, not in time.
1:02:20 Throw back to third and Sakov was wise
1:02:22 to it. So, it's a strikeout for Cruz,
1:02:26 but he reaches on the wild pitch and a
1:02:28 stolen base for Sakalov. Fifth of his
1:02:31 banana ball career. Still no outs.
1:02:34 Inning winning run 90 ft away. Clowns
1:02:37 are going to have to bring the infield
1:02:38 in against Reese Alexi who is tied for
1:02:41 the tour lead with nine walk-offs
1:02:45 after he led Banana Ball last year with
1:02:47 28 inning enders. And we saw him in his
1:02:50 last home stand in Grayson against the
1:02:52 Coconuts. Four walk-offs in three games
1:02:55 as Cruz takes off on the 10 pitch and
1:02:58 advances into up to second base.
1:03:03 Laser beam out TO LEFT CENTER. THAT WILL
1:03:05 DO IT and some Sakalope could cartwheel
1:03:08 home. Alexi
1:03:11 his tour leading 10th walk-off of the
1:03:13 year. And just like that, we're knotted
1:03:16 at a point each.
1:03:20 Tonight,
1:03:27 [music]
1:03:36 >> Macio and the fellas
1:03:39 with a boogie at the dish to celebrate
1:03:41 their nodding up of this ball game.
1:03:46 and we'll get it on down to Jolie
1:03:49 Chabala on the field.
1:03:50 >> Across the United States, there are over
1:03:53 400,000 children and teens in foster
1:03:56 care without a permanent home. To raise
1:03:59 awareness and support this community, we
1:04:01 created Bananas Foster, the official
1:04:04 nonprofit of Banana Ball. Our
1:04:06 organization is dedicated to celebrating
1:04:08 the foster care community while
1:04:10 educating and inspiring others to get
1:04:13 involved. Tonight we are celebrating the
1:04:16 Golden family. Daniel was adopted at a
1:04:20 young age and knew that he wanted to
1:04:22 give back to the foster care community.
1:04:24 In 2006, he and his dad became a foster
1:04:28 family. Sadly, his dad passed away and
1:04:33 leaving him to be a single foster dad.
1:04:36 In the last 20 years, he has welcomed
1:04:39 over 40 teens into his home and is
1:04:43 currently parenting six boys.
1:04:48 Fans, please welcome to the field the
1:04:50 Golden family for making a difference
1:04:52 right here in our community.
1:05:01 matters.
1:05:03 I can't find [music]
1:05:07 you.
1:05:08 You're not alone.
1:05:11 I'm going to stand by you.
1:05:16 [music]
1:05:23 >> Well, another absolutely massive shout
1:05:26 out to Daniel Golden, superhero here in
1:05:30 the foster care community in Chattam
1:05:32 County.
1:05:34 over 20 years of welcoming children into
1:05:38 his home,
1:05:40 >> making sure they have the love and
1:05:42 support they need for success.
1:05:45 He's welcomed over 45 different kids
1:05:47 into
1:05:48 his home. I mean, that is what Bananas
1:05:51 Foster is all about. shining a light
1:05:56 on these folks that
1:05:58 >> making a positive impact
1:06:01 on so many folks lives.
1:06:07 Beautiful stuff. Another tip of the
1:06:09 proverbial cap of which I am not wearing
1:06:11 to you, Daniel Golden. Banana band
1:06:14 blasting away. You never know where
1:06:16 you're going to find them. This time,
1:06:18 our beloved brass band blasting away in
1:06:22 the bleachers first base side.
1:06:26 Jonathan cranking it on the trombone.
1:06:29 >> One day they're going to get on the roof
1:06:30 of top deck.
1:06:33 I very much look forward to it. And I
1:06:35 also very much look forward to hearing
1:06:37 the voice of TRISTAN LEC MIKED UP ON the
1:06:40 mound. Tristan, how you doing?
1:06:44 >> You sound great.
1:06:46 Little VO grunt there. [music]
1:06:49 >> The question is as we get fantastic VO
1:06:54 grunts. Oh yeah, the ear was out and now
1:06:56 it's in.
1:06:56 >> Am I plugged in?
1:06:58 >> You're already plugged in. I
1:06:59 >> think it disconnected.
1:07:00 >> Oh no.
1:07:02 >> KJ has saved the day.
1:07:06 >> Let's see if our A3 Kyle Jackson can
1:07:09 make something happen here.
1:07:10 >> I hear you guys.
1:07:11 >> No. Well, you can just talk.
1:07:15 See if I can telepathically let Tristan
1:07:18 know.
1:07:20 >> Just yap, man.
1:07:24 >> This is the Banana Ball ASMR inning
1:07:26 featuring Tristan Lec.
1:07:29 >> Oh, you got us.
1:07:30 >> Oh, no. Never mind.
1:07:32 >> Oh, the grunts are great here on our
1:07:35 makeshift NPR radio.
1:07:47 Well, Tristan will pitch with the gear
1:07:49 on him and unfortunately only hearing
1:07:52 the voices in his head as Leeday yanks
1:07:54 that foul. Look out into the kid zone.
1:07:56 Oh my goodness. Wow.
1:07:59 >> It ended up actually finding a
1:08:02 nice cushiony landing spot.
1:08:07 One of those inflatable obstacle
1:08:09 courses. You hit one of those obstacles
1:08:10 you have to hurdle over. And I would
1:08:13 like to be prancing around out there.
1:08:14 Not more than what I'm currently doing,
1:08:16 but pretty close after the game. Payoff
1:08:19 pitch.
1:08:21 Bender. It's a beauty. Frozen pizza.
1:08:24 Bobby Leay. Back to the dugout.
1:08:26 Strikeout number three for LeC.
1:08:29 Beautiful piece of pitching. Tristan
1:08:32 signaling up to us here in the booth.
1:08:34 He's pretty happy with that execution.
1:08:36 And Bill Loy was as well. Huge fist pump
1:08:40 from the 9-year banana and the first
1:08:42 strike out looking for LeC tonight.
1:08:46 He's got Leed both times. First time it
1:08:48 was swinging. And now Joe Lidle who
1:08:51 started that two out rally with the
1:08:54 single right back up the shoot. Was the
1:08:56 first of three straight hits and four
1:08:57 straight clowns reaching with two down.
1:08:59 [music]
1:09:03 And a little dance time. LC Olsen, Cox,
1:09:06 and Meadows for whatever that was.
1:09:09 And Lidle, this is big time trouble.
1:09:11 Straightaway center.
1:09:14 >> Couple hops off the wall. Alexi cleans
1:09:16 it up. Joe can really fly for a primary
1:09:19 catcher. Head first dive into third.
1:09:23 Lidle his second three bagger of the
1:09:26 year. Two for two on the night.
1:09:31 And he'll run the bases rather
1:09:33 aggressively. I mean, we've seen a
1:09:35 couple career inside the park home runs
1:09:37 for Joe Lidle, but he's going to be
1:09:39 pretty content with that one out triple
1:09:42 for the Indianapolis Clouds. And now
1:09:44 Dale Francis up to bat already with a
1:09:46 two RBI double here tonight. This one's
1:09:50 Sky
1:09:52 just on the outside of the infield of
1:09:54 backpedaling Ryan Cox. Tip Drill will
1:09:57 take care of it himself. As soon as it
1:09:59 touches the glove, Lidle could take off.
1:10:02 >> Making sure there's No funny business
1:10:05 there.
1:10:07 >> From the US women's national baseball
1:10:10 team and the number one draft pick in
1:10:13 the Women's Professional Baseball
1:10:14 League, Kelsey Whitmore.
1:10:24 >> In a couple months, we're going to see
1:10:27 Kelsey Whitmore pitching for San
1:10:28 Francisco in the WPBL.
1:10:32 But for the time being, we get to see
1:10:36 the best woman in the history of Banana
1:10:39 Ball when it comes to hurling. She has
1:10:42 been fantastic here in her second world
1:10:46 tour, five pitch mix, four seam sinker,
1:10:49 change up, curve, slider, and it has
1:10:50 been baffling for most who face her. She
1:10:53 was spotless through the first two and a
1:10:54 half months this season. Only recently
1:10:57 has she started to have some earned runs
1:10:59 on the docket this year. but faced off
1:11:02 against Carell Prime last weekend. He
1:11:05 did collect a walk-off sacrifice fly
1:11:07 against her, but nonetheless, that was
1:11:09 an out for Kelsey Whitmore and trying to
1:11:12 get another one here with Lidle 90 ft
1:11:15 away at third.
1:11:21 >> It'll be Prime Payton and wholeizer.
1:11:24 >> Just keep speed with the bench.
1:11:27 >> You got that
1:11:27 >> dude to swing it AGAINST WHITMORE.
1:11:29 DIVING STOP. KYLE JACKSON couldn't get a
1:11:31 firm hold on it. So L will come across
1:11:34 and score eventually. Took his time.
1:11:37 Added his own unique Oklahoma City
1:11:40 flare.
1:11:44 >> Prime has his first run batted in of the
1:11:47 contest. He's two for two.
1:11:50 [music]
1:11:52 >> We got Gray Bank,
1:11:54 >> Vasquez, and Danell.
1:11:57 Another
1:11:59 trip around the double dutch bus.
1:12:02 >> We can't quit it.
1:12:10 [music]
1:12:15 >> Boy, Jay-Z closing out.
1:12:19 >> That run will be charged to LeC as he
1:12:22 get another look at Prime. Great job
1:12:24 getting the hands in. That closes the
1:12:26 book on Tristan. Goes two and two third
1:12:29 innings, one earned run, four runs
1:12:31 against him in total.
1:12:34 >> And those three strikeouts
1:12:36 as the big looping curveball swinging a
1:12:39 miss from Eli Payton.
1:12:42 RBI ball for Sprint. His first trip.
1:12:44 This one ceued BACK TO WHITMORE. SHE'LL
1:12:46 GO BETWEEN the legs and a rifle over to
1:12:49 first in time. Kelsey Whitmore for first
1:12:52 trick play of the season.
1:12:55 But a run across for the Clowns. They've
1:12:58 got a chance to jump back in front in
1:12:59 the allimportant points department.
1:13:04 >> And I think we've got some funny
1:13:05 business up front. What's going on down
1:13:07 there?
1:13:08 >> Over 30 years ago, Forest Gump was
1:13:11 filmed right here in Savannah. And we
1:13:15 want to bring it back. So, we're going
1:13:17 to have some Forest Gump auditions here
1:13:20 tonight to see who can be the next
1:13:22 Forest Gump. So, we have our two
1:13:24 contestants here. We have Ben and we
1:13:27 have Desmond. And this is the Forest
1:13:30 Gump race. Whoever can run all the way
1:13:32 out to center field and proper Forest
1:13:35 Gump form and get there first will be
1:13:38 the winner. Forest,
1:13:40 on your mark, get set, go. [music]
1:13:45 And there they go.
1:13:47 And look at Ben's up to lead. And here
1:13:51 goes Desmond. Look at the speed.
1:13:55 >> And there he goes.
1:13:58 >> And it looks like And the winner is
1:14:18 There goes that man
1:14:22 >> taking his talents all the way to
1:14:24 Washington.
1:14:39 Never a dull moment in Banana Land, but
1:14:42 often a beautiful sunset in Savannah.
1:14:45 >> You're telling me those are pretty
1:14:46 consistent.
1:14:53 >> One-1 game. Middle of the third. Clowns
1:14:56 offense as per usual looks fantastic.
1:15:00 Banana's defense has been impressive on
1:15:02 the other side of the coin. Seven trick
1:15:03 plays across the nine outs that they
1:15:05 have secured.
1:15:07 The most recent coming from Kelsey
1:15:09 Whitmore. Her first career trick play.
1:15:14 Fast ball gets the bottom of the zone as
1:15:16 Foster jumps ahead of Cox.
1:15:20 Clowns looking for their first lead in
1:15:21 the allimportant points department. So
1:15:24 check that. Make it their second of the
1:15:25 ball game. They jumped out one- nothing
1:15:28 as this is slapped the other way. Payton
1:15:30 between the legs across the diamond.
1:15:32 PRIDE BEHIND THE BACK. DOUBLE TRICK PLAY
1:15:34 INTO DOOZY.
1:15:38 >> WELL, that was it. Pretty much Taylor
1:15:40 made for Payton to transfer between the
1:15:43 legs. Did it awfully quickly and then
1:15:45 it's Carell Prime. Nice job contorting
1:15:48 his body to scoop that one on a hop and
1:15:52 team up for a pair of trick plays here
1:15:54 for the Clowns in the bottom of the
1:15:56 third.
1:15:57 Peter misses wide to Ty Jackson
1:16:01 >> and now he's ahead 20. The scorching hot
1:16:05 May for Tai two fly. Got the batting
1:16:06 average up to 306 on the year as he's a
1:16:09 bit early on that one.
1:16:15 >> Only got in offensively one game last
1:16:17 weekend. Went one for two. A double and
1:16:19 a stolen base
1:16:23 >> as Fosters back into the two- two count
1:16:25 now.
1:16:29 Got to look out for fast ball change up
1:16:31 slider sinker curve from Foster. That's
1:16:34 a Baltimore chop. Leay behind the back
1:16:38 >> at first. Just in time to get Tai who
1:16:41 was flying down the line. Heck of a
1:16:43 stretch from Prime to make it happen.
1:16:48 And it's Adam Byron over at first base
1:16:52 potentially asking Tyler Gil wants to
1:16:55 challenge. Kind of giving the motion
1:16:56 like, hey, this could go either way.
1:17:00 And so the Bananas will elect to utilize
1:17:03 the challenge here in the third inning
1:17:06 with that potential Tai Jackson hustle.
1:17:11 Well, reach on trick play missed. It
1:17:13 would be.
1:17:14 >> Yeah. And I just started writing in pen
1:17:15 in my scorebook. 63 TP. All I needed was
1:17:19 the O and an underline under it and it
1:17:21 was enshrined forever. This call is not
1:17:24 going to be overturned either. That's
1:17:26 clear as day. Great shot by the control
1:17:28 room. Balls in the glove. Ty Jackson.
1:17:30 There's still air between that left foot
1:17:32 and the base. The Nanos are going to
1:17:34 lose their challenge for the game.
1:17:36 >> Once again, you got a fantastic look at
1:17:39 the stretch from Prime. All right,
1:17:40 ladies and gentlemen.
1:17:41 >> Just about everything he's got on that
1:17:42 65.
1:17:44 >> They're rolling on the field. Easy
1:17:45 decision for the crew chief Bryson
1:17:47 Wheeler looking at it again.
1:17:49 >> Pros pro
1:17:52 the best umpires in the sport.
1:17:54 >> Pretty easy for him to see that and see
1:17:56 the calls confirmed. Seeing again Vyro
1:17:59 kind of gave the signal to Tyler Gillan
1:18:01 like it's 50/50. It could go either way.
1:18:04 I don't think especially early on in a
1:18:06 ball game. It's the most responsible
1:18:08 decision to utilize your challenge like
1:18:11 that. But I'm assuming the Bananas are
1:18:13 confident they'll still have a fan
1:18:14 challenge in their back pocket tonight.
1:18:18 You know, Goldberg fights off the fast
1:18:20 ball. Three straight strikes poured in
1:18:22 from Foster. Left on left.
1:18:26 And what a stop. Chris Burgess.
1:18:28 MJG. We saw him steal first base for the
1:18:31 first time in his banana ball career
1:18:35 recently. He's got one of them and he
1:18:37 certainly would have been off if that
1:18:39 one took a ricochet off the clowns back
1:18:41 stop check to third. No.
1:18:44 >> Calman third base umpire says Young
1:18:46 Goldberg was able to hold up.
1:18:52 >> Fights off another two strike offering.
1:18:54 >> This is what Young Goldberg did
1:18:56 exceptionally well last month for the
1:18:58 Bananas. Just a battler at the plate.
1:19:00 Average 4.6 pitches per plate
1:19:03 appearance. and now tags Bryson Wheeler
1:19:06 behind the dish. And boy, do we hope
1:19:09 he's all right.
1:19:13 On first glance,
1:19:16 looked like it ricocheted right into the
1:19:19 old uh spot where the sun don't shine.
1:19:27 And we're not going to get a look at it,
1:19:29 unfortunately. I was dying to see that.
1:19:31 Great piece of hitting. Young Goldberg
1:19:34 hooks it into right. Has himself a two
1:19:37 out single.
1:19:39 >> Control room. Can we Can we see it?
1:19:46 >> Not yet. Not yet.
1:19:49 Okay, we wait with baited breath. End of
1:19:51 the inning. We'll get to see where that
1:19:53 foul ball got Bryson Wheeler, our home
1:19:55 plate umpire.
1:19:57 >> I'll turn it on.
1:19:58 >> Rumor has it it's an all time shot.
1:20:01 conclusive evidence.
1:20:03 >> Yeah, that one bounces off of Jackson
1:20:06 Olsen.
1:20:08 >> Holding down the 10 hole tonight.
1:20:11 Nice weekend. Two for six with a double.
1:20:13 A run score gets the Clowns in KC
1:20:18 as he's behind one two. Foster's been
1:20:20 doing a great job of pounding the zone
1:20:21 tonight.
1:20:26 Another
1:20:30 foul ball off of Wilson.
1:20:33 >> Yeah, so many two strike counts tonight
1:20:35 for Daniel Foster and yet to work
1:20:37 himself into a three ball count. I mean,
1:20:40 the Clowns, especially early on,
1:20:41 struggled with the ball for sprint. It
1:20:44 is so nice to see this rookie pounding
1:20:47 the zone tonight here in Grayson.
1:20:51 2-2
1:20:53 >> count is full which means MJG will be
1:20:56 off from first
1:21:03 >> and Olsson able to spoil it. We'll do it
1:21:05 again.
1:21:07 >> Olsson hasn't had a lot of success
1:21:09 against left-handed pitching this
1:21:11 season, but if he's able to put up a
1:21:13 good battle and potentially earn the
1:21:14 ball for a sprint, the bananas will take
1:21:16 that. And that is exactly what happens.
1:21:18 Young Goldberg was often running for the
1:21:21 nanners. Bryce Stober gauging this clown
1:21:24 sprint defense, but he'll give MJG the
1:21:28 stop sign. And indeed, it's guys on the
1:21:30 corners for the bananas with two down.
1:21:34 Great start to the three-game set
1:21:35 offensively for Olsen.
1:21:38 It's been a frustrating
1:21:41 fourth world tour at times, but looks
1:21:43 like he might be rounding into form here
1:21:44 as we near the halfway point.
1:21:47 And now the inning tying run 90 ft away.
1:21:50 The inning winning run at first base.
1:21:52 Dr. Meadows at the top of the order
1:21:55 ahead. Two balls, no strikes.
1:21:59 Grounded out to short his first time.
1:22:04 And Foster
1:22:07 seems to have been affected by the
1:22:08 broadcasters jinx. We compleimemented
1:22:10 his striketh throwing capabilities and
1:22:12 now he loses the zone
1:22:14 >> as he's able to get that one right down
1:22:16 Broadway.
1:22:18 Right on Q.
1:22:22 >> Chance for Payton across the diamond in
1:22:25 time. Clowns win the third inning and
1:22:28 they are back in front. Two points to
1:22:30 one. Heck of a job by Daniel Foster to
1:22:32 bear down in a sticky situation. And
1:22:35 let's finally see it. The foul ball. Max
1:22:39 Young Goldberg AT THE DISH.
1:22:41 >> OH YEAH.
1:22:44 >> STRAIGHT to the coconuts.
1:22:46 Golly,
1:22:48 >> the show must go on though, folks.
1:22:50 >> Fans, we all know Banana Ball to be the
1:22:53 greatest show in sports. But ladies and
1:22:55 gentlemen, if you know anything about
1:22:56 show business, you know that no matter
1:22:58 what happens, you keep singing, you keep
1:23:00 dancing, and you keep smiling. Well,
1:23:02 tonight we've got two contestants, Jeff
1:23:04 and Freddy, who are ready to prove if
1:23:06 they can do exactly that. Ladies and
1:23:09 gentlemen, we call this one the show
1:23:11 must go on. Give it up for our first
1:23:14 contestant, Jeff. Take it away.
1:23:19 [music]
1:23:21 >> Show us what you got now. Come on. And a
1:23:24 pie to the face. Ladies and gentlemen,
1:23:26 [music] like I said, the show must go
1:23:28 on. He must keep dancing. He must keep
1:23:31 smiling. And he [music] must keep
1:23:33 entertaining. Come on, Jeff. Show us
1:23:35 what you got. Oh, he's getting pelted
1:23:37 and a water out of nowhere. Jeff, you
1:23:40 are absolutely phenomenal. Ladies and
1:23:42 gentlemen, [music] let's give it up for
1:23:44 our first contestant. Let's give it up
1:23:46 for Jeff. Ladies and gentlemen, give it
1:23:48 up for Jeff. What a phenomenal job. And
1:23:50 I don't know, I think Freddy is coming
1:23:51 in with something a lot hotter. Let's
1:23:53 give it up for contestant number two.
1:23:55 Freddy, take it away.
1:23:59 [music]
1:24:02 >> Oh, and he takes a pie to the face. And
1:24:04 he [music] continues, he continues to
1:24:07 hit those smooth notes. Oh, Freddy. Oh
1:24:10 my goodness. Ladies and gentlemen,
1:24:13 [music]
1:24:15 >> if you didn't know the show could go on
1:24:17 before, Freddy is proving it to you
1:24:19 right now here in Savannah. [music]
1:24:30 Now it's time for you, the fans, to
1:24:34 decide.
1:24:35 Was it Jeff
1:24:39 >> or was it Freddy?
1:24:42 Give it up FOR OUR WINNER. NO MATTER
1:24:44 WHAT, THE SHOW must go on.
1:24:50 >> And this is what makes Banana Ball
1:24:51 special right there. Zack Franelo here
1:24:54 in his sixth year as a director of
1:24:56 entertainment. And he gets to hop right
1:24:58 in there. pie to the face. Just all
1:25:01 kinds of projectiles
1:25:04 pelting our contestants there.
1:25:07 >> Good to see that none of it caught
1:25:09 Connor Harris.
1:25:11 >> 68 righty,
1:25:13 >> eighthrounder for the Nanners
1:25:16 after he made his Banana Ball debut with
1:25:18 the Visitors, Banana Ball's
1:25:19 developmental team last summer.
1:25:24 >> Proud of Avon, Connecticut.
1:25:28 taking over for Kelsey Whitmore. Third
1:25:30 nanner to tow the slab tonight. Bottom
1:25:32 three in the clowns order. Pullsizer
1:25:34 Burgess Vasquez.
1:25:37 >> Just cuz it's the bottom three does not
1:25:39 mean they are not very dangerous.
1:25:42 Speaking of dangerous, THE GLOVE
1:25:43 MAGICIAN PULLS OUT HIS signature move.
1:25:46 The professor
1:25:48 gnarly trick play
1:25:51 to open up the fourth. And that was
1:25:53 already the fourth of the game for Ryan
1:25:56 Cox. The professor on full display. And
1:26:00 now Connor Harris, a quick out and
1:26:03 trying to get the punch out against our
1:26:05 donut batter tonight, Chris Burgess.
1:26:09 As I was saying before I was rudely
1:26:12 interrupted by whole sizers grounded or
1:26:14 short. Bottom three in the order. Three
1:26:16 straight minor leaguers. That's crazy.
1:26:21 That's another great piece of hitting.
1:26:23 Chris Burgess
1:26:26 >> two hits on the night. Both of them
1:26:28 lenas
1:26:30 to Alexi Addison right
1:26:33 and he will give way to Malachi Mitchell
1:26:36 for a second straight time.
1:26:43 >> Flash ended up stranded on second base.
1:26:45 Back in the second,
1:26:47 Jaylen Vasquez a mile high right side.
1:26:50 >> Ziggler
1:26:52 >> out of room.
1:26:54 No play for the fans.
1:27:01 >> Talked about it a little earlier.
1:27:03 Vasquez just a part of a log jam at
1:27:06 second base for the Clowns. They have so
1:27:07 much talent between him, Kirkland Banks,
1:27:12 the spot where Brian Dancer will also
1:27:14 get out to left field. You'll see Matt
1:27:16 Wolf at second. I mean, there's
1:27:19 just such a wealth of talent offensively
1:27:23 for this Clown squad,
1:27:26 one of their third round draft picks. JB
1:27:28 was the 17th overall pick and not
1:27:31 getting everyday playing time yet. I
1:27:33 mean, a lot of folks believed he could
1:27:34 handle the shortstop position here in
1:27:36 Banana Ball as well. Moved over to
1:27:38 second when he joined the Clowns, but
1:27:40 there's a lot of mouths to feed here on
1:27:42 this Clowns team. And it's JV swinging
1:27:46 through the high heat for Connor Harris.
1:27:47 Loy would checked back on Mitchell at
1:27:51 first, but he slid in safely
1:27:53 nonetheless. Harris picking up the K
1:27:55 there against the Clowns 10hole bat.
1:27:58 Yeah, that was great sequencing from Loy
1:28:01 and Harris after the big looping 126
1:28:04 knuckle curve which is in the high 70s
1:28:06 when it comes to VO. Followed it up with
1:28:08 that low 90s fast ball. Perfect
1:28:10 placement. Joe Gray Jr. looking a tad
1:28:14 apoplelectic after the strike call.
1:28:19 Not full-blown appoplectic there. I'm
1:28:22 going to say it. This is a side note,
1:28:23 but Joe Gray Jr.'s lockup song might be
1:28:26 one of my favorites of any player in
1:28:28 banana ball.
1:28:30 >> I can never hear it with these big
1:28:31 >> going party train by the gap band.
1:28:34 >> Oh yeah,
1:28:34 >> come on.
1:28:36 >> See, I can never hear with these big old
1:28:37 muffs over our ears. It's impressive by
1:28:39 you. Flash off on the pitch, but Gray
1:28:41 fells it out of play.
1:28:46 Folks ask me all the time, what's my
1:28:48 favorite walk up song in Banana? I'm
1:28:50 like, I don't know really any of them.
1:28:53 [laughter]
1:28:54 The one that Bill Roy does with the
1:28:55 clapper.
1:28:56 >> Yeah. I mean that's Billy Squire. The
1:28:59 guy's been here nine years. I mean I was
1:29:01 I was jamming to that with Jamie Pulver
1:29:03 in his bedroom in fourth grade. That's a
1:29:05 that's
1:29:07 >> 2-2. FLASHES OFF AGAIN. THAT BALL
1:29:09 DEMOLISHED. IF IT'S FAIR, IT'S GONE. IT
1:29:12 is foul.
1:29:15 >> That was annihilated.
1:29:20 >> Gray's got six homers on the year. tied
1:29:22 for second on the tour.
1:29:27 >> Only problem with the last one was
1:29:28 direction as Olsen
1:29:30 on THE RUN. GREAT PLAY to get the speedy
1:29:33 gray.
1:29:36 >> A goose egg for Harris. Excellent
1:29:38 defense again for the Nanners. And Alex
1:29:40 Ziggler loving that. You see him coming
1:29:43 off the field at a boy, Jackie. Great
1:29:45 play. Olsson throwing a little crossbody
1:29:49 and just enough heat on that banana ball
1:29:51 to retire Gray.
1:29:53 >> Hey baby time. Here's Jesse Cole.
1:29:55 >> My guest here, Dominic and Paisley with
1:29:57 us and we're going to do a little Hey
1:29:59 Baby. So I need everyone on your feet.
1:30:03 Everyone on your feet and we're going to
1:30:06 get the biggest Hey Baby Savannah's ever
1:30:08 seen. Dominic, are you ready for this?
1:30:11 >> Yes.
1:30:12 >> All right, Dominic, everybody's hands up
1:30:14 in the air. All the way up in the air.
1:30:16 all the way around. Get it going, Shark.
1:30:17 Here we go. Clap those hands.
1:30:27 >> You guys look good.
1:30:29 >> Now, get those arms going. Here we go.
1:30:33 [music]
1:30:41 [music]
1:30:44 >> Keep it going. Get those hands up.
1:30:58 Now, keep it clapping as we shuffle.
1:31:05 [music]
1:31:10 >> Oh, you guys look good.
1:31:13 Now, let me hear you sing it. [music]
1:31:26 One more time.
1:31:30 [music]
1:31:40 >> Ah, you guys are amazing. Round of
1:31:42 applause for Dominic Paisley and you
1:31:44 guys
1:31:47 number 19. It is always so cool seeing
1:31:51 the full capacity crowd here in the
1:31:53 birthplace of Banana Ball out of their
1:31:56 seats, moving it and grooving it.
1:31:59 For tradition that's been going on since
1:32:02 the Savannah Banana's inception back in
1:32:04 2016. Hey baby.
1:32:07 Daniel Fosters got himself a 2-1 lead.
1:32:10 Trying to keep it that way. It's the big
1:32:12 boppers here for the Nanners. Two,
1:32:13 three, and four in the lineup. Oburst,
1:32:15 KJ, and Loy.
1:32:19 as the fans may have a play on this. No,
1:32:21 it's out to the parking lot. Well, if
1:32:23 there's a guy trying to end the inning
1:32:24 in one swing, it's Dan Oburst. 11 for 23
1:32:28 against a left-handed pitching in banana
1:32:30 ball this season. And we talked about it
1:32:32 earlier, homerred against Foster last
1:32:35 weekend in Kaufman Stadium.
1:32:40 Another opportunity for Leeday between
1:32:42 the legs in plenty of time. Bobby Leday
1:32:46 smooth as silk at short. His third trick
1:32:48 play
1:32:50 up to 43 to pace the Clowns on the year.
1:32:59 >> It's been a heck of a ball game. Clowns
1:33:02 won the first inning. Bananas took the
1:33:04 second. Clowns won the third.
1:33:08 Nanders trying to even it up again as
1:33:10 the front door bender
1:33:12 >> gets Foster ahead of Kyle Jackson.
1:33:17 popped in the infield.
1:33:19 >> Vasquez
1:33:21 tip drill. Yes, Leeday able to clean it
1:33:24 up.
1:33:26 >> The trick play will go to JV, his 16th
1:33:29 this year.
1:33:30 >> And just like that, we're noted at eight
1:33:32 trick plays for each team.
1:33:39 and 10th overall pick in the WPBL,
1:33:42 number 29, Monet Davis.
1:33:47 [music]
1:33:51 >> For the first time in her very young
1:33:54 Banana Ball career, Monae Davis gets to
1:33:58 pitch in Savannah, Georgia.
1:34:02 proud of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
1:34:06 at a Springside Chestnut Hill Academy
1:34:10 and they played softball for three years
1:34:12 at Hampton University.
1:34:15 Monae the legend
1:34:18 in the baseball world
1:34:22 trying to shut down the Nanners and
1:34:24 still hunting that first career
1:34:25 strikeout in banana ball. This would
1:34:27 certainly be a really cool spot for
1:34:30 Monae to reach that accomplishment.
1:34:33 And you see the hat says it all right
1:34:35 now for Monae Davis. A big thing that
1:34:37 her and so many of the other ladies
1:34:40 playing banana ball this season have
1:34:42 tried to spread is that women belong in
1:34:45 baseball. It's been a big initiative of
1:34:47 Kelsey Whitmore on the banana side of
1:34:49 things. And cool to see Monae rocking
1:34:51 that hat on the mound.
1:34:53 >> Monae has certainly earned her spot in
1:34:55 baseball. Well, the legend just grows
1:34:57 now with this chapter in banana ball as
1:34:59 Loy is ahead 20.
1:35:03 Monae, of course, I'm sure you've heard
1:35:04 it before. Bears repeating for anybody
1:35:06 who does not know, but she was the first
1:35:08 girl to ever get a win and throw a shut
1:35:10 out in Little League World Series
1:35:12 history. Sixth girl to ever even just
1:35:15 get a hit
1:35:17 in the Little League World Series.
1:35:22 and then thanks to that became the first
1:35:23 little league baseball player to ever
1:35:25 appear on the cover as cover of Sports
1:35:27 Illustrated as a little leaguer. I mean,
1:35:29 it's
1:35:31 pretty bonkers.
1:35:33 And then if you've been to the
1:35:35 Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory,
1:35:37 you'll see she's the first nonMLB player
1:35:40 to have a statue. It's pretty nuts.
1:35:44 Good job battling back here against one
1:35:46 of the hottest hitters in the sport from
1:35:47 3 0 to 32 as Loy spoils the payoff
1:35:51 pitch. will do it again.
1:35:52 >> And Monet's found the zone after falling
1:35:54 behind Loy. And he's just having to
1:35:56 adjust to her speed and tempo there on
1:35:59 the pitcher mound as he sits back on
1:36:01 this one and skies it into center field.
1:36:04 JBJ looking to do something special. A
1:36:06 big tip to Joe BLADE JR. AND COWBOY JOE.
1:36:11 WOW, THAT WENT IN AND OUT OF THE COWBOY
1:36:13 hat and INTO THE GLOVE.
1:36:17 I THINK IT'S THE HIGHEST tip drill in
1:36:19 banana ball history from JBJ.
1:36:22 >> And then what a recovery from Joe Gray
1:36:25 Jr.
1:36:29 MICHAEL SCHWARZ. WHAT'S GOING ON down on
1:36:32 the field?
1:36:33 >> Well, I'm trying to see if uh Lidle's
1:36:36 bat's on fire right now because he's two
1:36:38 for two. A single, a triple. Is there
1:36:40 anything in left in the can? Do we got
1:36:41 something in the can?
1:36:42 >> What' you say?
1:36:43 >> Do we have anything left in the can? Do
1:36:44 we need more? Oh, the can's empty. I
1:36:46 think we need some more for sure.
1:36:47 >> We need to get some more. All right.
1:36:49 Right now, bring me through the mindset
1:36:50 of this game. Bananas at home. Chris
1:36:53 Burgess just crawling in front of us.
1:36:55 How are we staying focused? There is so
1:36:56 much more more banana ball left.
1:36:58 >> Oh, yeah. We uh there's so much game
1:37:01 left. It's the top of the fifth, you
1:37:02 know. Uh we just got to keep pushing,
1:37:04 you know. It's banana ball, baby. You
1:37:06 never never know what to expect.
1:37:07 >> Second triple of the season. Were you
1:37:11 looking at the ball? Were you just
1:37:12 hustling? What was the signs that was
1:37:14 you that you were getting?
1:37:15 >> Uh, you know, I felt like a really good
1:37:17 swing on that one and I looked up and
1:37:20 there wasn't really anybody kind of
1:37:21 close yet, so I just kept going. Fox
1:37:23 held me up at third. I was kind of going
1:37:25 to go for my third inside the park home
1:37:27 run of my career, but he didn't send me
1:37:29 so I just stayed.
1:37:30 >> Well, Lidle's back. We did the perfect
1:37:32 sit in Greenville. I'm going to let you
1:37:33 get ready. I'll go get some spray for
1:37:35 you guys. The perfect sit. Check it out.
1:37:37 He did it in Greenville. I think the
1:37:39 only athlete ever in the history of
1:37:42 history. Back to you guys.
1:37:44 >> Thank you, Michael. Yeah, the perfect
1:37:47 sit. So, oh my god,
1:37:50 [laughter]
1:37:52 what a what a switch. What are we
1:37:55 watching? Uh, I was talking about the
1:37:58 perfect sit, which
1:38:00 >> does not sound appealing to me at all.
1:38:09 Tell you what, that promotion, that
1:38:10 looked pretty appealing, though.
1:38:14 >> Want to try that out one time, Josh?
1:38:17 >> I don't know, man. What are you worried
1:38:20 about? My bones are achy these days, you
1:38:22 know? Like, I had a softball game the
1:38:24 other day. Still kind of sore from that.
1:38:27 I had to slide into freaking second
1:38:28 base, man. [laughter]
1:38:30 >> Okay. I got a little dirty. He's trying
1:38:33 to win. You got him. Play it all on the
1:38:36 line. Jackie Bradley Jr. 36 years young
1:38:41 leading off the top of the fifth inning.
1:38:42 Connor Harris 26 years young out for his
1:38:46 second inning of relief.
1:38:50 >> He's able to pitch around a one out
1:38:52 single in the fourth inning. Now he's
1:38:54 got two, three, and four. JBJ Leay and
1:38:56 Lidle.
1:39:02 >> There's Jackie.
1:39:05 pulled on what looked like a kick change
1:39:07 there. Part of a three pitch mix. Fast
1:39:08 ball, knuckle curve, and the change up.
1:39:12 >> Little stutter step. JBJ gets a piece of
1:39:14 it. There's a change up. Ended up
1:39:16 middle. Middle.
1:39:17 Again, you are seeing the Bananas
1:39:19 pitchers. Leve did it to start the ball
1:39:21 game. Now Harris does it here in the
1:39:23 fifth trying to throw off some timing by
1:39:25 doing those stutter step pitches. Now
1:39:28 Harris going with his regular delivery
1:39:31 and fielding this banana ball and Harris
1:39:34 sails it over the head of Alex Ziegler
1:39:36 and into right field.
1:39:39 That'll get Jackie an extra 90 ft
1:39:43 as he's been the instigator of both
1:39:47 errors from Banana's defense so far
1:39:50 tonight.
1:39:54 >> Looked like he didn't think it was going
1:39:55 to be fair. If he was busting it out of
1:39:57 the box, I think he might have had
1:39:58 himself an infield single to begin with.
1:40:00 The official scoring decision.
1:40:02 >> That's an E1 for me.
1:40:04 >> Certainly,
1:40:06 [sighs]
1:40:07 there was going to be an error for
1:40:08 Connor Harris no matter what as Leeday
1:40:11 skies this to left. Robert Anthony Cruz
1:40:14 the oldfashioned way.
1:40:16 The only question was, is it a single
1:40:18 and an error or is it just a straightup
1:40:20 error? And it is the latter.
1:40:23 >> Yes, for me it is. And it's a tough play
1:40:26 for Connor Harris. Laroyy's kind of in
1:40:29 his way. He can't exactly get himself in
1:40:31 the position to be straight on throwing
1:40:33 to Alex Ziegler. And I think that's what
1:40:36 informed the error more than anything.
1:40:38 Yep. And trying to throw it over JBJ.
1:40:40 Kind of an awkward spot. He ended up
1:40:42 there.
1:40:44 I think on the replays you can see he
1:40:46 had the time to make it as there's the
1:40:49 kick change for a strike. That's a
1:40:51 beauty.
1:40:54 02
1:40:56 Lidle. Good job. Able to keep it alive,
1:40:59 although not comfortable fouling it off
1:41:01 his knee.
1:41:07 Joe, five years of independent
1:41:08 professional baseball before he came to
1:41:11 the banana ball world in 2023.
1:41:14 >> Good lumber on this deep out to right.
1:41:16 Alexi will not get there. JBJ will score
1:41:21 easily. Lidle's going to coast into
1:41:23 second. with a ribeye and a double.
1:41:28 >> And just like that.
1:41:30 >> Not even five full innings into this
1:41:32 ball game, he is a home run away from
1:41:34 the cycle.
1:41:36 I mean, that was easy power from Joe
1:41:40 Lidle. He just kind of flipped the wrist
1:41:42 at that pitch from Connor Harris and he
1:41:44 wasn't exactly hustling out of the box
1:41:46 either. I think he thought that was
1:41:47 going to wind up in the club of
1:41:49 Alexiatis, but that banana ball
1:41:51 continued to carry and winds up plating
1:41:54 a run here for the Clowns in the fifth.
1:41:57 Liner straight to Ziegler. Lads up base
1:42:00 running was straight back to second. He
1:42:02 even beat Olsen to the bag.
1:42:04 So, Goodwood from Francis just hit it to
1:42:06 the wrong spot.
1:42:10 Another look
1:42:12 as Carell Prime will swing it two for
1:42:14 two. OH, FISHER POLY DOROV has taken his
1:42:17 spot.
1:42:20 Fischer went two for two against the
1:42:22 Bananas and two pinch hit opportunities
1:42:25 last weekend in Kaufman Stadium. Booming
1:42:28 double, his first career RBI, and then a
1:42:30 single right back up to shoot against
1:42:32 Austin Drury, one of the best arms in
1:42:33 the sport. And again playing in his
1:42:35 first night game ever in Grayson
1:42:38 Stadium. guy who's played in this
1:42:40 historic ballpark a handful of times,
1:42:43 but now trying if he can trying to see
1:42:45 if he can come through under the bright
1:42:46 lights.
1:42:48 And a guy, according to the Old Knuckles
1:42:51 story, was only born 11 years after the
1:42:53 first ever Night Baseball game back in
1:42:55 1930.
1:42:58 Old Knuckles came around in 1941.
1:43:01 Makes him a Spry 85 or 86 years old.
1:43:04 Here,
1:43:08 >> we're going to give him Fisher's
1:43:09 birthday of October 2nd. That'll make
1:43:11 him 85.
1:43:17 >> The inventor of the character,
1:43:20 >> 20 years old, youngest player in the
1:43:21 sport. What a talent.
1:43:24 >> Flails and misses at the fast ball here.
1:43:26 Harris shows off those lanky legs of his
1:43:30 with the signature Sally, but an
1:43:32 unearned run comes across against him
1:43:34 courtesy of Joe Lad bringing in JBJ.
1:43:38 Clowns have a chance to double their
1:43:40 lead over the Nanners
1:43:45 as he got another gander at the strike
1:43:48 out from Connor Harris. Let's take a
1:43:50 look at the league trick play rates
1:43:53 because what the Texas Tailgators
1:43:55 are doing here in their second year as a
1:43:58 franchise is pretty otherworldly. A lot
1:44:00 of distance between them and the Bananas
1:44:03 and still nearly a full trick play and a
1:44:05 half between the Naners and the
1:44:06 Firefighters and Party Animals who are
1:44:08 sitting there tied for third. I mean
1:44:10 when we zoom on just on this Bananas
1:44:12 clowns matchup tonight though the Clowns
1:44:14 I mean they've got a 6.3 average this
1:44:17 season. They've already got nine tonight
1:44:19 and they are currently in a position to
1:44:21 earn that equalizer point if we were
1:44:23 about to go into the final inning of
1:44:25 play. The Clowns with nine compared to
1:44:27 the Bananas 8 and they have not earned
1:44:30 an equalizer point since their first
1:44:32 game against the Party Animals in
1:44:34 Tallahassee, Florida. So, it's a long
1:44:38 time for Indianapolis Clowns. A long gap
1:44:41 as that game in Tallahassee was back in
1:44:44 February on the 27th. How about split on
1:44:47 top of the roof? I kind of think I want
1:44:49 to take a stroll up there tomorrow.
1:44:50 Josh, you want to go up there with me?
1:44:52 >> Yeah, why not? Let's go on the roof.
1:44:54 >> Heck yeah. I mean, it's
1:44:55 >> Let's get some roof time.
1:44:56 >> It's my seventh season here. It's your
1:44:58 fifth year here. I feel like we're never
1:45:00 hanging out on the roof.
1:45:01 >> We will amend that tomorrow.
1:45:02 >> Give a tan. Heck, why not?
1:45:04 >> I mean, it's it's white. It's a white
1:45:07 roof and the sun just really blar off.
1:45:09 It feels like there's some kind of
1:45:10 reflective properties. I think
1:45:11 >> big tan tiger Friday.
1:45:13 >> Yeah. Book it. Kobe Robinson during his
1:45:16 first Banana Ball World Tour. The
1:45:18 numbers do not do it justice because he
1:45:20 has really turned a corner here has been
1:45:23 fantastic as of late.
1:45:24 >> I mean, he and Nick Wilson were a pretty
1:45:26 powerful one-two punch out of the
1:45:28 bullpen and we saw Hot Sauce good
1:45:31 results against the Bananas a weekend
1:45:33 ago.
1:45:38 [music]
1:45:39 Shout
1:45:41 out
1:45:47 [music and singing]
1:45:50 and my heart is broken. All my [music]
1:45:53 scars are open. Tell them what I would
1:45:58 be. [music] Impossible.
1:46:01 Impossible.
1:46:04 [music] Impossible.
1:46:06 Impossible.
1:46:12 >> [music]
1:46:15 >> Boy,
1:46:15 >> we certainly love
1:46:17 >> just absolutely soaking Robert Anthony
1:46:19 Cruz and then making him try and swing a
1:46:21 bat, huh?
1:46:24 >> Split was kind of doing some
1:46:25 interpretive dancing up there on the
1:46:28 roof. Looked like he was trying to, you
1:46:30 know, mimic or recreate that rack walk
1:46:32 up as close as possible.
1:46:38 10 count on Robert Anthony Cruz. It's 5,
1:46:41 six, and seven in the order for the
1:46:43 Nanners here as Matt Wolf has brought
1:46:45 his barrel out onto the field. He's
1:46:47 playing third base, but
1:46:50 >> I mean, he's even closer to home plate
1:46:52 than Kobe is 60 ft 6 in away on the
1:46:54 mound. There's Wolfie
1:46:58 said he doesn't know what he's doing. I
1:46:59 think
1:47:01 Rack doesn't really hit balls down the
1:47:04 third baseline too often. He's kind of a
1:47:07 pull with power cat as he will take the
1:47:10 ball for sprint here.
1:47:13 >> And now he's looking for two at second
1:47:16 base. He'll get in
1:47:19 >> beforeizer or gray touched it. The sixth
1:47:21 and seven clowns who needed to get a
1:47:24 hold of the banana ball before it was
1:47:26 live.
1:47:31 Well, that's a weird in between that the
1:47:33 Clowns found themselves in, specifically
1:47:35 Matt Wolf. Great to see him in the
1:47:38 barrel and highly entertaining, but then
1:47:40 he had to hop out to join the ball force
1:47:42 sprint defense and Rack was well aware
1:47:45 of that. I mean, he had Wolf in his
1:47:47 peripheral, so he decided, why not try
1:47:50 and see if I can get two bases? I have
1:47:52 no idea when Matt Wolf specifically will
1:47:55 get that banana ball.
1:47:57 >> Right. Right.
1:47:59 ball or a quick 02 count rather on Reese
1:48:02 Lexi. Make it one and two.
1:48:06 >> His double walked off the second inning.
1:48:10 Trying to even this thing up here in the
1:48:11 fifth.
1:48:13 Paint from Kobe Robinson. He rings the
1:48:17 bell
1:48:20 and now he'll boogie.
1:48:23 >> Well, that's a massive improvement for
1:48:25 Kobe Robinson. We saw a lot of sprints
1:48:27 early in his banana ball career. He had
1:48:30 no strikeouts in late April, but ever
1:48:34 since the month of May came along, we've
1:48:36 seen a lot more KS for Kobe. And Hot
1:48:39 Sauce getting to do a lot more fun
1:48:41 dances out there on the pitcher mound.
1:48:43 I'll tell you what, with that strikeout,
1:48:45 it's now his last six and two/3 innings.
1:48:48 No earned runs, six hits, four sprints,
1:48:51 but five Ks. And he's earned three
1:48:54 points along the way. and had one last
1:48:57 weekend against the Bananas and Kaufman.
1:49:02 >> Ryan Cox to center. JBJ in cruise
1:49:05 control will grab it. Sakova check that
1:49:07 rack
1:49:11 will dee towards third but respect to
1:49:15 the gold glove arm of JBJ.
1:49:26 The fate of the frame in the hands of
1:49:28 Tai Jackson.
1:49:30 I'll tell you what, Kobe Robinson,
1:49:33 it's a guy who's a 13thround draft pick
1:49:35 by the Padres's in 2021. Spent four
1:49:37 years in the organization.
1:49:39 Sits low 90s with the sinker, slider,
1:49:42 and change up to boot.
1:49:44 He's got his control. He can be one of
1:49:46 the tougher arms to face in the league
1:49:48 as that's a pitcher's pitch getting him
1:49:50 back in the count. with the heater that
1:49:52 got him into that Padres's organization.
1:49:54 He was getting close to 100 miles an
1:49:56 hour. Now he gets one that is looped off
1:49:59 the bat of Tai Jackson and Matt Wolf as
1:50:02 the designated fielder tips this up to
1:50:05 himself earns a trick play for the
1:50:07 Clowns. And now they have a twopoint
1:50:10 lead on the Savannah Bananas through
1:50:12 five frames. Another look, won't be
1:50:15 jumping right in front of Leeday
1:50:18 and able to nab the trick play. Bobb's
1:50:21 already got three on the night himself.
1:50:25 So, Matt Wolf here in his fifth world
1:50:26 tour said, "Hey, Rook, I want to get in
1:50:29 on the fun. It's time for a little
1:50:31 veteran trick play action as we welcome
1:50:33 you back inside the booth with the
1:50:35 statistical of Banana Ball. Josh Tipsky.
1:50:38 I'm Bo Scalla. We are five innings in
1:50:40 the books. Clowns won the first inning.
1:50:43 Bananas won the second. Clowns won the
1:50:45 third and they have this 2-1 inning with
1:50:47 or 2-1 lead rather with four innings to
1:50:49 play.
1:50:49 >> Yeah, and we've talked about it. They
1:50:50 had to clean some things up defensively.
1:50:52 They have certainly done that so far in
1:50:54 tonight's contest. And the Clowns, I
1:50:57 mean, we got to say it again, they are
1:50:58 in a position right now to earn that
1:51:00 equalizer point and give themsel even
1:51:02 more breathing room tonight against the
1:51:04 Savannah Bananas. This is the biggest
1:51:06 thing that they had to work on and
1:51:08 clearly they have taken it to heart
1:51:10 after what was a rocky weekend
1:51:12 offensively in KC.
1:51:13 >> And on the other hand, their offense
1:51:15 fantastic as per usual and they've
1:51:17 capitalized on two errors from the
1:51:20 Bananas as you get a look at Jesse Cole
1:51:24 hurling some t-shirts to the folks in
1:51:28 the crowd. They're going absolutely
1:51:30 bonkers below us.
1:51:35 tarps off.
1:51:38 Jesse Cole's dad, Carrie Cole, said he's
1:51:41 going to need me to go tarps off at my
1:51:44 two weddings I've got on the docket this
1:51:46 weekend.
1:51:46 >> Two weddings. When it rains, it pours.
1:51:51 Well, Saturday, Sunday backto back
1:51:53 action.
1:51:58 Eli Payton OUT TO RIGHT. SEE YOU LATER.
1:52:03 SOLO SHOT ON THE FIRST PITCH OF THE
1:52:05 SIXTH.
1:52:07 Payton his fifth bomb of the year.
1:52:10 [music]
1:52:14 And instantly after the swing, Eli
1:52:17 Payton knew that one was leaving the
1:52:19 confines of Grayson Stadium. Juicebox
1:52:23 showing off his sweet stroke at the
1:52:26 plate.
1:52:28 Another
1:52:32 look, an ambush
1:52:34 on the first pitch of the frame. Connor
1:52:36 Harris out for his third inning of work.
1:52:39 Greeted rudely by
1:52:42 one of the clown sixth round draft
1:52:44 picks.
1:52:46 And the pride of Laatta, California.
1:52:48 Boy, Payton has been superb.
1:52:53 That'll send that OPS north of a
1:52:56 thousand again.
1:52:59 Killer rookie campaign continues as the
1:53:01 126 curve fools Nico Holesizer. He's
1:53:04 behind O2. Strike out and a ground out
1:53:07 so far on his docket.
1:53:10 Great take. That one just missed wide.
1:53:22 >> Towering fly ball. Alexiotis measuring
1:53:26 it up. Tip drill and here comes the
1:53:30 doctor to snag it in the cap. Double
1:53:33 trick play action and we are tied at 10
1:53:37 trick plays a peak and Meadows was
1:53:39 running over well aware that the Bananas
1:53:41 were down two trick plays to the Clowns.
1:53:44 You could see a ordinarily a tornado
1:53:46 catch, maybe a behind the back snag from
1:53:48 Reese Selectiatus, but instead the
1:53:50 strategic play is to try and collect
1:53:52 that double trick play to negate the
1:53:54 equalizer point.
1:53:56 >> Chris Burgess two for two, a pair of
1:53:58 line drives to right field.
1:54:09 and the count even at one and one
1:54:13 on the kid out of Lethonia, Georgia.
1:54:17 Three years in the Orioles farm system,
1:54:19 four years of independent professional
1:54:21 baseball between the American
1:54:23 Association and Frontier League after
1:54:25 that.
1:54:28 And boy, he has adapted to Banana Ball
1:54:30 very nicely. And I think he kind of came
1:54:33 into banana ball a lot of people
1:54:34 regarding him for his glove and his arm.
1:54:36 Instead, it's the bat that has spoken
1:54:38 the loudest for Chris Burgess. And he's
1:54:41 been all over this lineup and hits
1:54:44 another banana ball out to the opposite
1:54:46 way. Alexiotis ranging on the warning
1:54:49 track will haul in that ball for the
1:54:52 second out.
1:54:53 >> JUST A LITTLE TOO much launch angle.
1:54:56 That was a good poke the opposite way.
1:54:58 >> And we've seen the last couple innings,
1:54:59 the ball has carried very well out to
1:55:02 right field. Lidle thought he had flown
1:55:04 out earlier to Alexiotis and here
1:55:08 Burgess didn't look like it was going to
1:55:10 wind up on the warning track when he
1:55:12 swung but that wound up being the case.
1:55:17 Jaylen Vasquez is going to need a new
1:55:18 weapon.
1:55:21 Caps the first pitch from Harris
1:55:25 will wait a new piece of lumber. Popped
1:55:27 out in foul territory his first time. KJ
1:55:29 behind the back trick play and then
1:55:31 struck out swinging.
1:55:35 One of two strikeout victims of Connor
1:55:39 Harris across his two and two third
1:55:41 innings of relief.
1:55:45 And for Harris, he got a guy 39 of his
1:55:48 57 appearances in college between George
1:55:51 Washington and Winthrift University.
1:55:54 They were starts. So
1:55:58 getting stretched out above 40 pitches.
1:56:00 Nothing new at all for Harris.
1:56:04 Averageaged more than five innings and
1:56:05 outing across his starts in his college
1:56:08 career.
1:56:20 One, two chopped foul. Do it again.
1:56:25 Harris got Vasquez on a high fast
1:56:27 swinging the first time these two faced
1:56:29 off.
1:56:31 There's a high change up there.
1:56:36 Another one, two pitch, trick pitch,
1:56:39 FAST BALL CUT ON AND MISSED. Connor
1:56:41 Harris fired up, nabs the trick play and
1:56:45 a BIG OLD CELEBRATION. TY JACKSON
1:56:48 meeting him on the mound. Well, of
1:56:49 course, Ty Jackson's there to gas up
1:56:52 Connor Harris coming away with something
1:56:54 special to end that sixth inning. And
1:56:57 the Nanners all of a sudden a key three
1:57:00 trick play inning against the Clowns.
1:57:04 Went to the elevated heat once again
1:57:08 and able to sneak it past Vasquez.
1:57:17 Middle of the sixth inning. Clowns still
1:57:19 lead 2-1.
1:57:21 And how about the rise smile from Bill
1:57:23 Loy, the 9-year Nanner, loving what he's
1:57:26 getting from his big rookie on the bump.
1:57:30 And let's get it on down to Michael
1:57:31 Schwarz.
1:57:33 >> Hey guys. Well, look, the energy right
1:57:35 now on the Clown side is absolutely
1:57:39 electric. We got some offensive spark
1:57:42 right now. Coach, the first time the
1:57:44 Clowns are here during the World Tour
1:57:46 for this season, what did you say to
1:57:48 them before this game, you're out
1:57:49 hitting them 9 to3,
1:57:51 >> man? Just have fun and play with
1:57:52 urgency, man. That's been our whole
1:57:54 thing like these last couple weeks, man.
1:57:56 Like, I feel like we kind of got off to
1:57:57 a slow start this season. Guys was
1:57:59 feeling tight, man. I'm like trying to
1:58:01 remind them like, hey, have fun, play
1:58:02 with some urgency, and let's let's go
1:58:04 out and just do what we're capable of
1:58:05 doing.
1:58:06 >> Joe Joe Lidle a home run away from the
1:58:08 cycle. What do you say in those moments
1:58:10 to the players? just kind of let him be.
1:58:12 Or do you say anything specific?
1:58:14 >> Man, I just kind of I'm just letting him
1:58:16 be, man. Joe Lo's been a guy for us all
1:58:18 year, man. So, I'm just hoping he goes
1:58:20 up there with his same approach, stay
1:58:21 consistent, and just hope we can get the
1:58:23 thing done.
1:58:24 >> Clowns have been out. They've been uh
1:58:26 behind. We have another question, but
1:58:28 you know what? I'm going to throw it
1:58:28 back to Bo and Josh. We got some more
1:58:30 bad ball. You'll stay around. Bo. Josh,
1:58:32 back to you.
1:58:34 >> Thank you, Michael.
1:58:36 >> I don't think Foxy has a choice. He's
1:58:39 certainly going to be sticking around
1:58:40 here.
1:58:47 AND BOBBY LEDAY. HEY, WE GOT A MIC ON
1:58:50 YOU. Stop playing with him. Welcome to
1:58:52 the broadcast.
1:58:55 Our pleasure. Well, we got Young
1:58:57 Goldberg, Olsson, and then at the top,
1:58:58 Dr. Meadows. Kobe Robinson is trying to
1:59:01 make it two scoreless innings of relief
1:59:04 as your boys
1:59:07 have a 3-1 lead looking to make it four
1:59:10 to one.
1:59:12 And now you're straight into the sprint
1:59:13 defense and that'll hold MJG to just one
1:59:18 base. What's it been like adjusting to
1:59:20 banana ball espec especially defensively
1:59:22 and having to be ready for those sprint
1:59:24 defense chances when there's three balls
1:59:26 on a hitter?
1:59:31 little while to get get used to a couple
1:59:33 things. I'm still getting used to a
1:59:34 couple things still, but uh for example,
1:59:37 like
1:59:38 um
1:59:40 one of the ball force sprints we had, I
1:59:41 was on first and uh I know this now, but
1:59:44 I only got to second. I was supposed to
1:59:46 get to third and I Yeah, that was just
1:59:48 bad. But uh I know now. So,
1:59:52 >> we live and we learn. That's what it's
1:59:53 all about.
1:59:54 >> Oh, yeah. Quick up count on Olsen who
1:59:58 worked a ball for sprint his first time.
2:00:00 Well, I'll tell you what, you're a quick
2:00:01 learner, Bobby, because the trick plays
2:00:03 are buttery. You're leading your team
2:00:05 with 43. Three of them on the evening
2:00:08 already.
2:00:09 Sakov, the designated runner for the
2:00:12 Nanners.
2:00:14 Gets a little attention from Kobe.
2:00:17 And Wolfe will give this a look, but
2:00:19 it's going to get into the seats. How's
2:00:21 the trick play progression come along
2:00:23 for you, Bobby? It's a lot of fun, man.
2:00:26 Uh, ever since the first day we got out
2:00:28 here, I've been having a lot of fun with
2:00:30 it. Uh, for the most part, we want to
2:00:31 win, so I don't want to try to do the
2:00:33 most crazy.
2:00:35 >> Yeah. Oh,
2:00:38 right.
2:00:39 >> Oh, YEAH.
2:00:40 >> THAT WAS GNARLY, BOBBY.
2:00:41 >> Appreciate you.
2:00:44 >> Oh, wow.
2:00:47 >> I I I don't try to be too too flashy
2:00:50 with it. I just try to do the the most
2:00:52 simple trick play I can go through,
2:00:53 especially in a in a tight situation.
2:00:57 >> You nailed it right there.
2:00:58 >> Oh, yeah.
2:01:00 >> Let Bra have the flash at first.
2:01:02 >> Oh, yeah. Primer over there. He's
2:01:04 automatic.
2:01:04 >> Are there any other teammates of yours
2:01:06 whose trick plays just really make your
2:01:08 jaw drop?
2:01:10 >> Um, definitely Wolf.
2:01:12 >> Oh, yeah.
2:01:14 >> Definitely Wolf. Um, Brian, I don't know
2:01:17 how he does that backflip catch, but uh,
2:01:20 props to him. Props to him.
2:01:24 >> Yeah, I don't know either. I'm still
2:01:25 working on how to do a backflip.
2:01:28 >> Yeah, I learned that one a couple years
2:01:30 ago. Uh, I learned a new one before the
2:01:32 trial, which is a lot of fun. Oh,
2:01:35 >> I'm here with you. I'm here with you.
2:01:39 That's you. Oh, yeah.
2:01:41 >> WELL, THAT'LL DO. WELL, IT WAS QUICK,
2:01:42 BUT IT WAS A BLAST. Thanks for joining
2:01:44 us, Bobby. Thanks for having me,
2:01:46 >> Bobby. Keep up the great work out there,
2:01:48 man. It's so much fun to watch you play.
2:01:50 >> Yes, sir. Thanks.
2:01:52 >> Good job.
2:01:52 >> There goes Bobby Leay ripping a sweet
2:01:55 trick play. Well miked up in the middle
2:01:59 of a 163
2:02:02 double trick play. Double play. And you
2:02:05 get another look at JV popping it to
2:02:07 Gray coming in behind him. So, a three
2:02:10 trick play inning for the Clouds. And
2:02:13 don't look now, but Kobe Robinson,
2:02:16 two scoreless innings of relief. And
2:02:18 Forest Gump has returned at long last.
2:02:22 I can only imagine he's gone coast to
2:02:25 coast based on the beard that he's
2:02:26 picked up and the following. He has a
2:02:30 mast,
2:02:32 which is really just splitting a bunch
2:02:34 of kids. But you know what? It's pretty
2:02:35 impressive either way.
2:02:39 >> I'm pretty tired.
2:02:42 I think I'll go home now.
2:02:51 >> Forest finally got Tucker out.
2:02:54 Never could have seen it coming.
2:02:59 Now, what are these folks going to do?
2:03:01 Ah, they've been inspired by the triumph
2:03:03 of the human spirit.
2:03:04 >> There you go.
2:03:08 >> Who shall they follow now? Maybe the new
2:03:11 man on the mound for the bananas, Jacob
2:03:13 Baza.
2:03:16 >> I'd love to follow him.
2:03:19 Baza, the kid out of North Huntington,
2:03:21 Pennsylvania. Nanner's 10th round draft
2:03:24 pick. Stupendous start to his young
2:03:27 Banana Ball career.
2:03:29 But recently, he's been getting banged
2:03:32 up a little bit trying to find that
2:03:33 fantastic form he had to kick off his
2:03:36 career. Yeah, it's been the long ball
2:03:38 that's affected Baza quite a bit
2:03:40 recently when you think about the
2:03:42 go-ahead home run that Ben Parker
2:03:43 collected against him here in Grayson
2:03:46 Stadium and the walk-off three-run homer
2:03:48 Burgess had last Saturday night. So a
2:03:50 big focus for Baza just trying to keep
2:03:53 the ball in the yard because strikeout
2:03:56 to ball force sprint rate still
2:03:57 phenomenal and really you haven't seen
2:04:00 any kind of difference in mechanics or
2:04:04 anything else as far as this season's
2:04:06 gone for the banana ball rookie.
2:04:12 Yeah, Bazel's given up multiple runs in
2:04:15 three straight outings, but the middle
2:04:18 child in that run, they were both
2:04:20 unearned runs. So only five of the seven
2:04:23 runs across that stretch have been
2:04:24 earned.
2:04:30 >> And of course, he comes in for the top
2:04:31 of the order. Can't make it easy on the
2:04:33 man. And he's got to be hoping he can
2:04:35 get a couple trick plays behind him.
2:04:37 42.9%
2:04:40 of his outs in the month of May were
2:04:42 recorded with some trick plays. AND KYLE
2:04:45 JACKSON AND ALEX Ziegler
2:04:48 put nearly NEARLY START THIS OFF with a
2:04:51 double trick play, but it's first base
2:04:53 umpire Seth Markham who's saying that
2:04:56 Alex Ziegler came off the bag trying to
2:04:59 field that through his legs. Looked like
2:05:01 a good call by Markham, too. I mean,
2:05:04 it's ridiculous that Ziggy was able to
2:05:05 make the scoop between the legs, but
2:05:07 yeah, clear as day. Great call by Seth
2:05:09 Markham. Nanners lost their challenge
2:05:13 earlier in the game, so they couldn't
2:05:15 have put that under review even if they
2:05:17 wanted to. And fans did a good job
2:05:21 not pulling the trigger on it as JBJ
2:05:24 able to hold up. Count even at one and
2:05:26 one.
2:05:27 That'll be a trick play missed on
2:05:30 Zaggler over at first.
2:05:34 and a little extra spice
2:05:37 on what would have been the second
2:05:40 mindmelting double trick plays teamed up
2:05:43 on with KJ on the ball game.
2:06:01 And through the right side, JBJ
2:06:06 with his first knock of the night,
2:06:17 >> but aboard for the third time in four
2:06:19 trips to the plate. And a trick play
2:06:21 missed. A seeing eye single.
2:06:24 All of a sudden, couple ducks on the
2:06:26 pond with no outs as Leeday scorches
2:06:29 that foul. strikeouts his first two
2:06:31 times to the dish. Then towering fly out
2:06:33 to rack and left his last trip.
2:06:35 >> And even as the home team, it makes
2:06:37 trying to rip trick plays a lot more
2:06:39 difficult because you're trying to keep
2:06:41 your opponent off the board. I mean, you
2:06:44 want to negate an equalizer point, but
2:06:46 you also just want to negate points that
2:06:48 they can score the oldfashioned way with
2:06:49 offense.
2:06:51 >> Nasty bender from Bazela gets Leed
2:06:54 swinging.
2:06:56 >> That's a big first out.
2:07:01 That thing disappeared.
2:07:06 It's
2:07:06 >> part of a five pitch mix. Fast ball
2:07:08 about 88 to 92 mph
2:07:11 as the slider just misses the outside
2:07:14 corner. That's low 80s. Curve ball high
2:07:17 70s. Splitter mid80s.
2:07:22 Once in a while we might see a knuckle
2:07:23 ball.
2:07:28 I'll probably be in the 60s when it
2:07:30 comes to miles per hour.
2:07:34 >> Joe Lidle's going to be breaking out the
2:07:36 big swings here. He is a home run shy of
2:07:38 the cycle. Single his first time, triple
2:07:40 in the third, double in the fifth. Yep.
2:07:43 Deep breath. You see him trying to
2:07:44 compose himself. And don't let it don't
2:07:46 let it be forgotten. His final spring
2:07:49 training game against the party animals.
2:07:51 Lidle did hit for the cycle here in
2:07:53 Grayson.
2:07:54 >> DIVING STOP. RYAN COX CAN'T get it to
2:07:56 Olsen, though. And great base running.
2:07:58 Gray's going to come in and score from
2:08:00 second.
2:08:07 >> So, Lidle, his fourth hit on the night.
2:08:14 Official scoring decision. I I'm going
2:08:18 to say that's a pretty clean hit with an
2:08:20 RBI. I don't know if I'm going to
2:08:22 penalize Ryan Cox. To me, it seems like
2:08:25 Gray was pretty much ready to run home
2:08:27 regardless.
2:08:28 >> You're reading my mind.
2:08:32 Cox makes a stupendous stop to keep the
2:08:34 ball on the infield. If it gets to the
2:08:36 outfield, Grace's going to score.
2:08:37 Speaking of stupendous stops, Tai Jacks.
2:08:39 >> And you also didn't see JBJ advance to
2:08:42 third either on that kind of play. So,
2:08:44 it's not like an air would have advanced
2:08:46 Jackie.
2:08:47 >> Yep. Couldn't agree more. ball and two
2:08:49 strikes on Dale Francis Jr. two-run
2:08:51 double his first time since then a pop
2:08:53 out and line out
2:08:58 and good take
2:09:00 as the splitters bounced in. Great stop
2:09:02 by Loy.
2:09:05 Happy for that woman. She's got her
2:09:06 Sprite and her beer. Big big dance to
2:09:10 celebrate. A
2:09:12 >> winning combination.
2:09:14 >> There's a water in there, too. She She's
2:09:15 also mixing in a water.
2:09:18 All the necessity. 3-2 pitch. Two on,
2:09:22 one out. Swing and a miss.
2:09:27 Baza to the off speed and his second
2:09:30 punchy.
2:09:31 Well, this is what Baza has done
2:09:33 exceptionally well this season is
2:09:35 continue to rack up those strikeouts on
2:09:37 the pitcher mound. A 22% strikeout rate
2:09:41 entering play tonight. And that's
2:09:43 climbing even higher with punch outs of
2:09:45 Leeday and now Dale Francis Jr.
2:09:50 Carell Prime two for two on the night
2:09:53 giving Alexi an opportunity. Tip drill.
2:09:56 You bet. Dr. coming in to the hat. And
2:10:00 it's the second time in as many innings
2:10:03 it's been a tip from Alexi to the hat
2:10:06 catch from Meadows
2:10:08 as we are all tied up. 13 trick plays a
2:10:12 piece
2:10:14 as the Clowns look to earn the equalizer
2:10:16 point for the first time since their
2:10:19 first game in franchise history all the
2:10:22 way back on February 27th of this year
2:10:26 as you get another couple looks at the
2:10:28 double trick play
2:10:31 and we welcome you back inside. That's
2:10:34 Josh Tvki. I am Bo Scala. Happy Thursday
2:10:38 YouTube again. Thank you so much for
2:10:40 spending it with us here on the Savannah
2:10:42 Bananas YouTube channel. The chat has
2:10:44 been fantastic tonight. It's been a
2:10:46 blast to try and keep up with well the
2:10:49 craziest, most chaotic, entertaining
2:10:51 game in all of sports goes on down on
2:10:53 the field.
2:10:53 >> Yeah, I mean this has been a killer
2:10:55 contest so far and once again a really
2:10:58 impressive performance for Indianapolis
2:11:01 so far tonight. You consider what
2:11:02 they've continued to turn out
2:11:04 offensively. We've already talked so
2:11:05 much about the defense, but you're not
2:11:07 able to do that without excellent
2:11:09 pitching and Daniel Foster really set a
2:11:11 tone early and then Kobe Robinson, boy,
2:11:14 he has taken the ball and run with it.
2:11:16 Uh, and I'll tell you what, there's not
2:11:17 much that fires up Josh and I more than
2:11:20 getting to tell the stories of the
2:11:22 players here in Banana Ball. And Nick
2:11:24 Wilson, a fantastic rookie, has a very
2:11:27 interesting one and one close to your
2:11:28 heart, Josh, as a guy who is legally
2:11:31 blind up here in the booth. Uh, let's
2:11:33 learn a little bit more about how Nick
2:11:35 Wilson deals with the exact same thing.
2:11:39 >> Oh, missed it.
2:11:41 >> He's Banana Ball's pitcher of the month.
2:11:43 And he's legally blind without glasses
2:11:45 or contacts.
2:11:46 >> -9 on the right, 8 and a half in the
2:11:48 left.
2:11:49 >> But let's see how he does [music]
2:11:50 without his contacts.
2:11:52 >> I can barely even see what's going on on
2:11:53 the screen.
2:11:54 >> I just got a little bit more nervous.
2:11:55 You watching maybe get your own catcher
2:11:58 gear on.
2:11:58 >> This should be fun. The ball's blending
2:12:00 in with the pole, so it's tough to see.
2:12:02 >> Oh, man.
2:12:03 >> Oh, yeah.
2:12:04 >> THREE IN ONE NOW.
2:12:05 >> OH, MISSED IT.
2:12:07 >> OH GOSH.
2:12:08 >> You couldn't see when I just threw the
2:12:09 ball to you.
2:12:09 >> Uh, barely.
2:12:11 >> When did you first realize your eyesight
2:12:13 wasn't great?
2:12:13 >> I don't even remember not having
2:12:15 glasses. I got glasses in prek.
2:12:17 >> If you played on the original
2:12:18 Indianapolis Clowns,
2:12:19 >> it would be a sight to see or not to
2:12:21 see, actually. It's like I put these on
2:12:23 and it's literally like a brand new
2:12:24 world. It's unreal.
2:12:25 >> You're one of the best pitchers in the
2:12:26 league with the worst vision.
2:12:28 >> Yeah. Yeah. terrible. Uh, thank God for
2:12:30 glasses and contacts. [music]
2:12:31 >> How do you find the strike zone so well
2:12:33 right now?
2:12:33 >> I think it's just more of just body
2:12:35 function. It's not even sight. It's
2:12:37 really just about doing what I need to
2:12:39 do with my body the right way in order
2:12:41 to pitch cuz it's just I think pitching
2:12:43 is all about direction and what you do
2:12:44 with your legs. And so I've just been
2:12:46 really focused on um
2:12:52 >> Oh man, thank you very much Michael
2:12:54 Schwarz for that fantastic piece. And
2:12:56 right on Q, Nick Wilson into the ball
2:13:00 game with his contact, so he very much
2:13:02 knows where he's throwing these things.
2:13:03 Dan Overs, he knew where it was coming
2:13:05 as well. Barrel out to the wall as he
2:13:09 will park it at second base. Three
2:13:12 pitches into Nick Wilson's outing. It's
2:13:15 a booming double for Danny O. And the
2:13:17 inning tying run is in scoring position.
2:13:20 Well, Nick Wilson, his really effective
2:13:23 strikethrower and the guy, you know,
2:13:25 this may not be common knowledge yet,
2:13:28 but he was named Mace pitcher of the
2:13:30 month for the Indianapolis Clown.
2:13:32 Already the second clown to win that
2:13:33 award this season. Wilson 13 and two/3
2:13:37 innings pitched, a 1.98 earned run
2:13:39 average, and he only allowed one sprint
2:13:42 in that span as he misses away to
2:13:45 Jackson and Oburst swipes third base.
2:13:53 Fast ball dots the inside corner to KJ.
2:13:58 >> Kyle Jackson. Couple ground outs.
2:14:01 One to the pitcher, one to second. That
2:14:03 was a good looking fast ball. Just
2:14:05 missed the outside corner
2:14:09 and able to blow that one by KJ. Count
2:14:11 is full. Clowns are bringing the infield
2:14:14 in. Kirkland Banks has come into second
2:14:17 and that's a perfect pitch. Two Seamer
2:14:20 with nasty movement
2:14:22 [music]
2:14:23 and a big time strike out for Wilson
2:14:26 and that's just a sign of the Bananas
2:14:29 pressing at the plate. Kyle Jackson kind
2:14:32 of caught in between the decision
2:14:33 whether he wanted to swing or not. But
2:14:36 Nick Wilson, he knows he just silenced
2:14:39 one bananas bat
2:14:43 and maybe a couple and he's calling in
2:14:46 his defense.
2:14:48 Leay Kirkland Banks now in at second
2:14:51 base moving in on the diamond. If ground
2:14:54 ball comes off the bat of Bill Loy,
2:14:56 likely a play coming at the plate.
2:15:01 Wilson's primarily just fast ball
2:15:03 slider.
2:15:04 He's got a change up. He'll break out
2:15:06 from time to time. Seth Barkabs as Loy
2:15:10 was able to hold up on the check swing.
2:15:14 >> Bill a double his first time.
2:15:18 >> Then flew out to center. Trick play from
2:15:19 JBJ.
2:15:25 Slider
2:15:32 inside corner evens up the count.
2:15:37 Big two- two pitch.
2:15:40 Heater just misses.
2:15:47 Another 3-2. Ball four inside. Loy will
2:15:52 take the ribeye as Obur comes home.
2:15:56 And just 90 ft for the Nanners catcher
2:15:58 as he ties this inning up at a run each.
2:16:00 And JT Sakalov who scored the inning
2:16:03 winning run in Laroy Steed back in the
2:16:06 second inning takes over for his captain
2:16:08 once again. And boy, that's where it's
2:16:10 nice to have two of your most tenured
2:16:12 players batting high in this order.
2:16:15 Oburst a great double and able to score.
2:16:17 And Loy the patience paying off as Cruz
2:16:21 sprays this one the opposite way into
2:16:23 left field. And now two on with one out
2:16:26 for the Nanners.
2:16:27 >> Great piece of hitting from Rack. He's
2:16:29 aboard for the third time in as many
2:16:31 plate appearances, even reaching on a
2:16:33 strikeout. His first time on a wild
2:16:35 pitch.
2:16:43 Alexi had the aforementioned walk-off
2:16:45 double to bring in the only point of the
2:16:48 ball game for the Bananas.
2:16:51 Won the second inning. They haven't
2:16:53 claimed a frame since.
2:17:00 >> Wilson trying to keep it that way as it
2:17:03 is straight heat
2:17:05 past the powerful swing of Super Reese.
2:17:10 Fast ball up count even at two and two.
2:17:17 Cutting a miss. Alexi will take off for
2:17:20 first but nothing he can do about that.
2:17:22 First base occupied by Rack.
2:17:26 So he peels off into the dugout.
2:17:30 >> But there's one drawback to Alexiotis'
2:17:33 game this season. It has been a higher
2:17:35 strikeout rate than what we saw last
2:17:37 season and just trying to get off too
2:17:40 many big swings rather than try to hit
2:17:43 situationally there for the Bananas.
2:17:45 Meanwhile, Ryan Cox, somebody who is so
2:17:47 good at doing the ladder, situational
2:17:50 hitting and a very patient approach at
2:17:52 the plate as you see him jumping ahead
2:17:55 20.
2:18:00 Wilson had gone three innings against
2:18:02 the Nanners this year without allowing a
2:18:04 run
2:18:06 and only two hits and two strikeouts.
2:18:09 trying to limit the damage to just one
2:18:12 run as he is a ball away from losing
2:18:14 this frame.
2:18:17 Giving the Bananas their second point.
2:18:21 Peter right down Broadway.
2:18:25 Runners will be off on the payoff.
2:18:28 Peppered to Leay. HE BOBBLES IT BETWEEN
2:18:31 THE LEGS OVER TO FIRST. HOW BOBBY LEDAY
2:18:33 GOT A TRICK PLAY on that, I do not know.
2:18:36 It's his fourth of the ball game and in
2:18:38 a huge spot as Wilson strands the inning
2:18:42 winning run in scoring position. That is
2:18:44 A HUGE PLAY FROM BOBBY LEAY and keeps
2:18:47 the BANANAS FROM EARNING ANOTHER point
2:18:50 in this ball game. I'll tell you what,
2:18:52 THAT'S ONE OF THE CLUTCHEST PLAYS the
2:18:54 Clowns have gotten all night whether you
2:18:56 consider the hits or what they've done
2:18:58 defensively.
2:18:59 >> And it goes back to what we were talking
2:19:00 about with Bobby a few innings ago as we
2:19:02 welcome you back inside. He is just so
2:19:04 gosh darn smooth. I mean, this is a guy
2:19:06 who won a Jo Gold Glove. Uh, he was an
2:19:09 allstar in college as well. He's had
2:19:11 three phenomenal years of independent
2:19:13 pro ball, but the natural baseball
2:19:15 skills are absurd. And now that he's
2:19:17 starting to bake the banana ball skills
2:19:20 into his mind, and it just I mean, that
2:19:22 was like there was no thoughts in that.
2:19:24 Scooped it off the turf right between
2:19:26 the legs.
2:19:26 >> Well, I'll say there was never really a
2:19:28 question for the Indianapolis Clowns who
2:19:30 their shorts stop was going to be
2:19:31 entering the season. Again, we talked
2:19:33 about them drafting both Leay and Jaylen
2:19:35 Vasquez on day one. And both of those
2:19:37 guys were viewed as shortstops on banana
2:19:40 ball teams, but the perfect scenario was
2:19:43 to play leay, like you said, a guy who
2:19:45 collected a gold glove award over there
2:19:47 at short, move Vasquez to second, and
2:19:49 they've been a really tremendous duo who
2:19:52 are paying a lot of dividends tonight as
2:19:54 the Clowns still in that equalizer point
2:19:56 hunt. And speaking of trick plays in
2:19:58 which the clowns are one better than the
2:20:01 bananas here uh going into the bottom of
2:20:06 the eighth inning. Get a look at how the
2:20:09 equalizer point has [music] played a
2:20:11 role here tonight or the battle for it
2:20:13 at that. This has been three straight
2:20:16 games from the Indianapolis Clowns where
2:20:18 they have come alive when it comes to
2:20:20 trick plays. And of course the Bananas,
2:20:22 they're [music] used to this, but
2:20:24 they're having a tough time keeping pace
2:20:26 with the Clowns. Yeah, I mean,
2:20:27 ordinarily the Bananas [music] are in
2:20:30 control, but I think you are seeing the
2:20:33 Clowns pitchers are able to get a lack
2:20:36 of quality contact [music] against this
2:20:38 Bananas team. You've seen a lot of
2:20:39 choppers hit to these infielders
2:20:41 throughout the night. That has given the
2:20:43 Clowns plenty of trick play
2:20:45 opportunities. I [music] mean, they just
2:20:47 continue to beat banana ball after
2:20:48 banana ball into that ground, and that
2:20:51 usually spells good things for
2:20:52 infielders. All they do in practice is
2:20:55 try and rip trick plays. So, for the
2:20:57 bananas to try and negate this equalizer
2:20:59 point, [music] they're going to have to
2:21:00 make a lot better contact up at the
2:21:02 plate.
2:21:03 >> We'll take a look at how it has gone so
2:21:07 far tonight. The Savannah Bananas trying
2:21:11 to fend off the Clowns earning an
2:21:13 equalizer point. And boy, it is it has
2:21:17 been a tricky task for these Nanners.
2:21:20 The Clowns are not guaranteed [music]
2:21:22 three more defensive outs. The Bananas
2:21:24 are. So, it's it's going to be integral
2:21:27 to the Nanners here going into the top
2:21:29 [music] of the eighth. their last
2:21:30 chances to try and tie and hopefully put
2:21:33 a little distance for them between them
2:21:35 and the Clowns because Indianapolis, you
2:21:38 know, could very easily get three trick
2:21:40 play opportunities in the last of the
2:21:41 games. Well, I think what really, you
2:21:44 know, surprises me right now is we
2:21:46 talked at the top of the show about the
2:21:48 Clowns trick play rate this season only
2:21:50 around 6 and a half. I mean, we've seen
2:21:52 in two of their last three games, which
2:21:54 have come against the Bananas, and so
2:21:56 many of these teams regard the Bananas
2:21:58 not only as, you know, one of the best
2:22:00 teams in the Banana Ball Championship
2:22:01 League, but definitely a team with so
2:22:03 much experience that always can beat you
2:22:05 from a trick play standpoint. I mean,
2:22:07 the Clowns have tied their season high
2:22:09 yet again when it's come when it has
2:22:11 come to trick plays with 14 tonight, and
2:22:14 they're still have an opportunity to get
2:22:16 even more. So, this is a really
2:22:18 impressive job from their infielders and
2:22:21 outfielders alike.
2:22:22 >> Yeah, it's been so cool across these
2:22:24 last two plus games. We call it two and
2:22:27 two/3 games at this point at least to
2:22:29 see the Clowns defense absolutely come
2:22:32 alive. Uh this is this has been really
2:22:34 cool for a team that came in averaging
2:22:36 5.8 trick plays a game to last weekend.
2:22:39 They have now ripped 14, 12, and 14 in
2:22:41 the last three games. as you get a look
2:22:43 at what we have on the schedule tomorrow
2:22:46 night. The tailgator and [music]
2:22:47 firefighters will have round two for
2:22:49 them from Charlotte, North Carolina. And
2:22:51 we will get round two between the clowns
2:22:54 and [music] bananas starting just a half
2:22:55 an hour later, 7:30 p.m. Eastern for
2:22:59 first pitch tomorrow night right back
2:23:00 here on the Bananas YouTube channel. We
2:23:02 will also be on True TV. And you can
2:23:05 always listen to Joseé Chiito Benitez
2:23:08 uh on YouTube as well and Espanol for
2:23:12 those who understand it. I highly
2:23:13 recommend it. And of course, it's a
2:23:15 great slate for tomorrow. But you don't
2:23:17 want to forget on Saturday and Sunday as
2:23:19 well. Party Animals and Coconuts from
2:23:21 American Family Field in Milwaukee.
2:23:24 Party Animals first headline show in a
2:23:26 big league park without the Savannah
2:23:28 bananas. I mean, that is such a big
2:23:30 accomplishment for the guys in black and
2:23:32 pink. And that is going to be mustwatch
2:23:34 television over on the Party Animals
2:23:36 YouTube channel Saturday night, Sunday
2:23:38 afternoon as you get a look at the
2:23:40 numbers for Grant Besser, the Banana's
2:23:42 fourth round draft pick out of Burn,
2:23:44 Indiana. He's a guy I think the numbers
2:23:46 are going to be much much better when
2:23:48 all is said and done here, but he's
2:23:49 trying to find his footing as of late.
2:23:51 >> Yeah, he started really strong for the
2:23:53 Savannah Bananas, but he's gotten in
2:23:55 this position where I mean, he's always
2:23:57 a guy working quick on the pitcher
2:23:59 mount. He's almost sped himself up a
2:24:01 little too much and relied on his change
2:24:03 up more than maybe he should. Needs to
2:24:06 mix in a couple of the other pitches in
2:24:07 his arsenal if he wants to find that
2:24:10 success he had through the first 11
2:24:12 games for the Nanners. It's a foul home
2:24:15 run from Eli Payton who kept the long
2:24:17 ball fair his last time up. Solo shot
2:24:21 that ended up being the difference in
2:24:23 the sixth inning. Got the Clowns their
2:24:25 fourth point. Besser having trouble with
2:24:28 that. able to finally get a handle on it
2:24:31 and send a heat seeeking missile
2:24:35 Zaggler's way. Able to handle a hot one
2:24:37 from his pitcher and unfortunately just
2:24:40 so many juggles, so much struggle with
2:24:42 the transition. Besser unable to collect
2:24:44 the trick play that he was trying to get
2:24:47 there against Eli Payton. So now the
2:24:50 bananas still two outs here in the
2:24:52 eighth inning. a chance to collect some
2:24:55 to negate or attempt to negate the
2:24:57 equalizer point.
2:24:59 >> Eco-hole sizer ball and a strike
2:25:03 make it one and two and this is the
2:25:06 first time that Besser has pitched in
2:25:07 three weekends. He didn't get a chance
2:25:09 in Knoxville, didn't get out there in
2:25:11 Kansas City. So, this is the first time
2:25:13 since May 16th that he's been out there,
2:25:16 but he pitched twice that weekend
2:25:17 against the Coconuts and maybe starting
2:25:19 to find it again. Fast ball blown by Na.
2:25:24 >> What is surprising for Graham Besser, a
2:25:27 guy who has two trick pitch strikeouts
2:25:29 this season and a head one two against
2:25:31 Colesizer, not going to any kind of 360
2:25:34 pitch transfer between the legs or
2:25:36 anything there for the Bananas. And now
2:25:39 they're in a really precarious spot.
2:25:43 If they can't get a trick play on the
2:25:45 final out of this frame, the Clowns will
2:25:48 earn the equalizer point. I'll tell you
2:25:49 what, Chris Burgess is going to make
2:25:50 sure it doesn't happen against him. He
2:25:52 is three for four.
2:25:58 >> Just seeing the banana ball so well.
2:26:00 Little foot tap with Willie Carter, his
2:26:02 first base coach. And we'll give way to
2:26:05 Malachi Mitchell for the third time here
2:26:07 tonight. Give Burgess a welldeserved
2:26:10 breather and a chance for him to put the
2:26:12 gear on, suit up, prepare to catch the
2:26:14 bottom of the eighth inning.
2:26:17 Kirkland Banks saw him inserted
2:26:19 defensively a couple innings ago. He's
2:26:21 in the 10 hole here for Jaylen Vasquez.
2:26:25 Goes back to how crowded
2:26:27 this bottom of the lineup and second
2:26:29 base spot is for the Clowns. Banks
2:26:32 really a phenomenally talented banana
2:26:34 ball player.
2:26:37 He's played six different positions
2:26:40 already this year for the Clowns.
2:26:46 and now has a two- two count on him.
2:26:51 >> Will check on Flash.
2:26:56 >> There goes Flash. And it's cute. Foul
2:26:59 right off the face mask of Loy
2:27:09 Banks out of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
2:27:12 spent his entire 5-year college career
2:27:14 at Lamar University,
2:27:17 three years of independent professional
2:27:19 baseball before finding his way to
2:27:20 banana ball and put on a show at the
2:27:23 Dallas Workout. Homer on the final pitch
2:27:26 of the day. Payoff pitch here, able to
2:27:29 spoil another two- strike offering from
2:27:31 Beth.
2:27:34 I'll tell you what, every time Banks is
2:27:35 making contact, even on these foul
2:27:37 balls, and you see Laroy and Ziegler
2:27:40 trying everything THEY CAN, HOW ABOUT
2:27:42 GRANT MESSER? Oh my goodness. Full count
2:27:47 pitch, and he's able to land another
2:27:50 trick pitch strike out for the Bananas.
2:27:55 >> Fading away from the mound,
2:27:58 >> he breaks off a downright disgusting
2:28:01 change up.
2:28:04 I
2:28:04 >> mean, that's the kind of nastiness off a
2:28:07 trick play.
2:28:11 >> That should be illegal.
2:28:14 How'd he keep his balance? How did he go
2:28:17 off speed off of this nonsense? So nice.
2:28:20 He get to see it at least thrice. I've
2:28:23 lost count at this point. We're just
2:28:25 flexing our muscles camera wise as we
2:28:28 bring you back inside. I I don't know if
2:28:30 you remember, but that's Josh. Tom Bo
2:28:33 seen us a couple times as of late here,
2:28:35 but it it bears repeating once in a
2:28:37 while. Uh that was one of the most
2:28:40 exciting defenses of the equalizer point
2:28:43 we have seen in the sport so far. Of
2:28:46 course, Clown still a great chance to
2:28:48 claim it in the bottom half of the
2:28:49 eighth.
2:28:49 >> Yeah, and if it remains tied, there will
2:28:52 be no equalizer point earned tonight.
2:28:54 So, a great job by Grant Besser
2:28:56 tentatively to make sure the Clowns are
2:28:58 not able to grab it, but they've got
2:29:00 three outs to play with. The only
2:29:02 problem is Clown scoreless in the top of
2:29:05 this inning. So, one swing from a
2:29:07 Bananas bat to start this bottom of the
2:29:09 eighth. They not only get a point, but
2:29:11 they negate an equalizer point as well.
2:29:13 So, you'll see what that offensive
2:29:15 strategy looks like for the Bananas. But
2:29:18 that certainly is an approach that they
2:29:20 could take.
2:29:21 >> There's a lot of moving pieces going
2:29:24 into the bottom of the eighth inning
2:29:25 here. Late stages of a really fun banana
2:29:28 ball game to open up a threeame stand.
2:29:30 We've got two more of these this weekend
2:29:32 between Yep.
2:29:33 >> two more games
2:29:35 >> between the clowns and bananas this
2:29:36 weekend. Uh a little while ago, the
2:29:38 Banana Nanas were dancing and uh we
2:29:41 didn't get to see it live, but thank
2:29:43 goodness we've got these wonderful
2:29:44 replay machines. We would like to take a
2:29:46 look at what the Banana Nanas were able
2:29:47 to break out here just a little while
2:29:49 ago for us.
2:29:54 [music]
2:30:04 to the angels [music]
2:30:06 circles.
2:30:10 Keep your [music] mind on the distance
2:30:14 when the devil comes [music] around.
2:30:18 Hold me in your heart tonight
2:30:22 of [music] the dark.
2:30:26 Save me from
2:30:30 [music]
2:30:31 a game of life. Like a poet by a lady.
2:30:36 Hear the last little words of your life
2:30:39 [music]
2:30:40 with dance.
2:30:46 [music]
2:30:52 >> [music]
2:30:58 >> Give it up one more TIME FOR THE BANANA
2:31:00 NANA.
2:31:04 >> I mean, there really isn't much better
2:31:06 than getting to watch the banana nanas
2:31:08 dance. It was mind-boggling to me when I
2:31:11 got to come down here in 2020. It's part
2:31:13 of the reason why I abandoned uh MLB
2:31:16 Network, the prestige of Sakus, New
2:31:19 Jersey to take a chance on a college
2:31:21 summer baseball team down here in
2:31:22 Savannah. Uh they are fantastic. Pretty
2:31:25 sure minimum age 65.
2:31:28 Could fact check me on that. Nana Karen,
2:31:30 I I'll check in with you after, but I
2:31:31 don't think you can be a Nana if you're
2:31:33 below 65 years old. Similar to AP, maybe
2:31:36 that even starts earlier. I'm not an
2:31:37 expert.
2:31:38 >> I kind of think AP starts even earlier
2:31:40 to be quite honest with you. 55.
2:31:42 >> I I'm also pretty positive that we're
2:31:45 we're still doing some pregame auditions
2:31:48 for bananas. Correct.
2:31:50 >> I haven't seen one in a minute,
2:31:53 >> but we're not we're not doing them here
2:31:54 in Grayson.
2:31:55 >> I don't know why they would stop.
2:31:57 >> Yeah. It's like sometimes you get the
2:31:58 banana.
2:31:58 >> You got to keep the pipeline going,
2:32:00 >> right? Sometimes you get the the manana
2:32:03 tryyous. Uh, we found some serious
2:32:07 talent from both pregame ceremonies as
2:32:11 Nick Wilson is out there getting loose
2:32:14 for his second inning of relief.
2:32:17 >> You know,
2:32:19 I bet I bet Nick Wilson is glad that
2:32:21 he's got those contacts to be able to
2:32:23 lay his peepers on the Banana Manas.
2:32:30 >> Couldn't agree more. I mean, I can't
2:32:33 imagine if
2:32:35 We had the greatest dance troop this
2:32:36 side of the Mississippi boogieing down
2:32:39 there and
2:32:41 it was just blurs to me. Sounds
2:32:44 frustrating as all get out. Ty Jackson,
2:32:47 Max Young Goldberg, Jackson Olsen.
2:32:49 Bottom three in the order
2:32:52 here in the home half of the eighth. As
2:32:54 you can see, Clowns just need one trick
2:32:56 play to earn the equalizer point. That
2:32:58 would put them up 5-1 in this game.
2:33:00 There's less than five minutes to play.
2:33:03 That will only matter
2:33:06 if it runs out during this bottom of the
2:33:08 eighth. Ty Jackson looking for two
2:33:10 bases. He gets there. Dancer, the
2:33:13 seventh and final clown that had to
2:33:15 touch the ball before it was live. And
2:33:17 the hustle of tie two fly in full
2:33:20 effect. Nanners have the inning winning
2:33:23 run in scoring position.
2:33:26 Well, this is how funny banana ball can
2:33:28 be as Max Young Goldberg skies this out
2:33:30 to right field. Tip from Joe Gray Jr. He
2:33:33 holds it in. No,
2:33:37 it bounced off the turf. It looked like
2:33:39 he grabbed it at first, but he lost the
2:33:42 handle on the tip drill.
2:33:43 >> Oh, wow.
2:33:45 And the equalizer point still hangs in
2:33:47 the balance. Now the inning winning run
2:33:49 90 ft away. Jackson Olsen. So many
2:33:53 moving pieces here as we have less than
2:33:55 four minutes to play.
2:34:00 ripped out to right. Jackson Olsson
2:34:04 walk-off double.
2:34:06 The Nanners hold off the Clowns in the
2:34:08 battle for the equalizer point. They win
2:34:10 the eighth inning and cut the deficit to
2:34:13 two going to the ninth.
2:34:16 Everything played perfectly for the
2:34:19 Savannah Bananas there in the eighth
2:34:20 inning. the Besser trick pitch strike
2:34:23 out and then three batters all able to
2:34:25 reach and net a point to cut into that
2:34:28 deficit.
2:34:29 >> Don't look now, but Jackie is red hot.
2:34:32 Let's get it on down to Jesse
2:34:33 >> Cole.
2:34:45 >> [music]
2:34:50 >> The color
2:34:54 shine for you.
2:35:08 [music]
2:35:15 I
2:35:18 let you hear it.
2:35:28 [music]
2:35:30 Keep
2:35:35 [music]
2:35:41 going.
2:35:52 >> [music]
2:35:59 [music]
2:36:02 >> We all need so much. Now, let's go.
2:36:12 The sound of the bells means it's time
2:36:14 to cast our gaze upon the scoreboard.
2:36:17 Heading into the top of the ninth
2:36:18 inning, the score is four points for the
2:36:21 Indianapolis Clowns and one point for
2:36:23 the Savannah Bananas. Two points for the
2:36:26 Savannah Bananas. But here is the thing
2:36:27 about the game of Banana Ball. In the
2:36:30 final inning, every run counts for a
2:36:33 point. That means the Bananas are still
2:36:37 deeply in this thing. Two more runs for
2:36:40 them will send us to a showdown. But why
2:36:42 settle for two when we can get three AND
2:36:44 WIN THE WHOLE THING HERE TONIGHT. LADIES
2:36:46 AND GENTLEMEN, the ninth inning is where
2:36:49 things get interesting. SO LET'S GET
2:36:52 LOUD, SAVANNAH, GEORGIA, BECAUSE THIS IS
2:36:54 THE FINAL INNING.
2:37:04 The best closer in the history of banana
2:37:07 ball, Danny Hosley just spiked one. His
2:37:09 catcher Bill Loy ended up blocking it
2:37:14 but in an uncomfortable spot. That's the
2:37:16 look you got off Danny. Do it all there.
2:37:18 The numbers video game. 24 strikeouts to
2:37:22 two ball force sprints. A microscopic
2:37:24 0.48 erra.
2:37:29 He's just been observed for the Savannah
2:37:31 Bananas all season long. I mean, for
2:37:34 every 12 strikeouts that he generates,
2:37:37 then he gives up a ball four sprint.
2:37:39 That's his ratio this season. And
2:37:41 there's nobody in his stratosphere right
2:37:43 now. Hosley also currently in the top
2:37:46 five when it comes to minutes per inning
2:37:48 this season. A tour leader in earned run
2:37:51 average, the highest strikeout rate.
2:37:53 He's checked all the boxes this season
2:37:55 and you see him perfect in his save
2:37:57 opportunities. Although this one not the
2:38:00 case for Danny Hley. He's just trying to
2:38:02 throw up a zero as every run here in the
2:38:05 final inning counts for a point. And the
2:38:07 Bananas do not want to see their deficit
2:38:10 expand any larger. Top of the order for
2:38:13 the Clowns. Joe Gray Jr., Jackie Bradley
2:38:16 Jr., Bobby Leang.
2:38:22 Combined 15 homers
2:38:25 between the three guys for Indie Due to
2:38:28 swing it
2:38:30 and a quick 01 count on Joe who had a
2:38:33 chance to earn that equalizer point in
2:38:37 the bottom of the eighth. A looping
2:38:38 liner off the bat of MJG. A very tough
2:38:40 play to get a tip drill on. He nearly
2:38:43 secured it. Could not pull it out.
2:38:48 >> It would be a 52 game if he landed the
2:38:50 plane on it.
2:38:53 Golly
2:38:56 drone buzzing the tower of Danny Hosley
2:38:58 as it's a 2-1 count.
2:39:01 >> Did he hold up? No.
2:39:08 Two-2
2:39:10 swing and a miss. It's the Vulcan change
2:39:12 up. It's a strike out to open the ninth.
2:39:22 filthy.
2:39:24 >> I mean, that's just rinse and repeat.
2:39:26 That's what you're used to. It's insane.
2:39:29 I mean, there's nobody who strikes out
2:39:31 guys at the capacity of Hosley, and it
2:39:33 you've almost become numb to it because
2:39:35 he's just been doing this for so long
2:39:37 since he entered the sport in 2023. Now,
2:39:40 the only guy who's given him a hard time
2:39:42 is Jackie Bradley Jr. two knocks against
2:39:45 Hosley last weekend in Kaufman Stadium.
2:39:49 Bul on the change up there. JBJ behind
2:39:52 one, two,
2:39:58 foul ball. Kyle Jackson
2:40:02 makes the catch.
2:40:05 Just enough room to play with.
2:40:12 Two away here in the top of the ninth.
2:40:18 >> Bobby Leay looking to get off the
2:40:20 schneide. Obliterates that foul
2:40:25 for a hat-tick of strikeouts and a fly
2:40:27 out.
2:40:34 Chops it to Cox between the leg transfer
2:40:36 over to MJG in plenty of time. Danny
2:40:40 Hosley does what Danny Hosley does.
2:40:42 Strike out, pop out, ground out. One,
2:40:46 two, three. And the Nanners go to the
2:40:49 last of the ninth. Down two. And was you
2:40:51 when Danny Dittle's on the mound, you
2:40:53 don't have to sweat very much. 2 minutes
2:40:56 and 16 seconds. I mean, that ninth
2:40:59 inning was an absolute breeze.
2:41:04 Take a look at
2:41:06 the firepower
2:41:08 when it comes [music] to pitching in
2:41:10 this series. Danny Hosley, top of the
2:41:13 earned run average mountain here in the
2:41:15 inaugural season of the Banana Ball
2:41:17 Championship League. Nick Wilson, who
2:41:19 the Naners did get a run across [music]
2:41:21 on back in the seventh and eighth
2:41:23 innings, which negated a point in the
2:41:26 seventh, earned their second point in
2:41:27 [music] the eighth. See, he came into
2:41:29 this ball game 2.25 25 RA, third best in
2:41:32 the sport. Then you got LC [music]
2:41:34 and Drury and Nisnik all in the top nine
2:41:37 as well. I mean, you have five of the
2:41:39 top nine pitchers in ERA in the sport in
2:41:41 this series. Well, you've got two Banana
2:41:43 Ball vets, Nistic and Hosley, two-time
2:41:46 allstars, and then a handful of first or
2:41:49 day one selections in the Banana Ball
2:41:51 player draft. Jury and Le for the
2:41:53 Bananas, and Nick Wilson, who is still
2:41:56 on the mound for the Indianapolis
2:41:58 Clowns. They have used this guy in so
2:42:01 many different capacities this year. And
2:42:03 tonight it's that fireman's role. Just
2:42:06 come in the big moments, try and get
2:42:08 those key outs. And they trust Nick
2:42:11 against the top of this bananas order.
2:42:14 And that starts with their leadoff man
2:42:15 Dr. Meadows.
2:42:18 >> It's Meadows, Obur and KJ.
2:42:22 >> Last hopes for the Bananas. Liner
2:42:24 snagged by KB. Kirkland Banks there for
2:42:27 out number one.
2:42:32 >> And you know, good lumber from Dr.
2:42:34 Nothing to show for it. And you know,
2:42:35 the Clowns, they still haven't exactly
2:42:37 figured out what their closer situation
2:42:41 really looks like. There isn't one
2:42:43 specific guy who's got that label as Dan
2:42:46 Overs punches this one out to left
2:42:48 field. Brian Dansero will haul in that
2:42:51 banana ball for the second out. So Nick
2:42:54 Wilson, two outs on three pitches. And
2:42:58 now the Bananas find themselves down to
2:43:00 their final out against May's pitcher of
2:43:02 the month.
2:43:06 >> The golden batter rule, hitting in the
2:43:10 place of KJ Jackson. Coming back UP TO
2:43:15 THE PLATE. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, PLEASE
2:43:17 WELCOME DAN OVER.
2:43:25 This is a fascinating chess move by the
2:43:28 Bananas. Overburst
2:43:30 flew out to left on the previous pitch.
2:43:32 Takes a deep breath.
2:43:34 He's now one for four on the night and
2:43:38 hits in the place of Kyle Jackson who
2:43:39 was 0 for three.
2:43:42 But I mean, you're substituting your
2:43:43 two-hole hitter in for your three-hole
2:43:46 hitter just trying to pass the baton to
2:43:48 Bill Loy. We saw Oburst with the double
2:43:51 against Nick Wilson in the seventh
2:43:52 inning. Meanwhile, Jackson 0 for three,
2:43:55 soft contact, a strike out. As far as
2:43:58 tonight's game is concerned, this is a
2:44:01 move that makes sense for the Savannah
2:44:03 Bananas. The ball in two strikes on
2:44:06 Obururst.
2:44:12 Slow tapper foul will do it again.
2:44:24 The tying run in the on deck circle
2:44:27 >> and that one gets away. Oburst is going
2:44:29 to steal first base.
2:44:32 Chris Burgess keeps the ball from
2:44:33 getting in the Bananas dugout,
2:44:38 >> but Dan does his job.
2:44:42 the first time he swiped first this
2:44:44 year.
2:44:47 And Bill Loy, one for two with a double
2:44:50 in an RBI sprint. Represents the game's
2:44:53 tying run. Four for six in the ninth
2:44:55 inning this season. We saw Loy collect a
2:44:58 double in the ninth last weekend in KC.
2:45:01 Don't let it be forgotten. Four home
2:45:03 runs in Grayson Stadium a season ago.
2:45:06 sees the ball very well here as he takes
2:45:09 the first pitch for a ball and Oburst
2:45:11 moves up into scoring position at
2:45:13 second.
2:45:20 >> Foul ball.
2:45:29 Loy had a home run against the Clowns
2:45:31 last weekend in Kansas City.
2:45:34 This will stay in the yard. Jackie
2:45:36 Bradley Jr.
2:45:38 >> puts a close on a 42 Indianapolis Clowns
2:45:42 win in their first regular season game
2:45:45 ever in Grayson Stadium. They take down
2:45:48 the Nanners and have a chance to take
2:45:50 the series tomorrow night.
2:45:55 >> Nick Wilson able to get the job done for
2:45:57 the Indianapolis Clowns across the final
2:46:00 three innings tonight. And while the
2:46:03 Clouds might not have earned that
2:46:04 equalizer [music] point, they still hit
2:46:07 their way to victory here in Grayson
2:46:10 Stadium. A really impressive game
2:46:13 overall, especially considering [music]
2:46:16 they got a 44 performance from their
2:46:20 extra hitter, Joe Lidle.
2:46:23 >> Nick Wilson now perfect two for two in
2:46:25 his save opportunities in his young
2:46:26 banana ball career. And the Clouds after
2:46:30 taking two games out of three from the
2:46:31 Party Animals a couple of weekends ago
2:46:33 in Tacoma, splitting the two game set
2:46:36 last weekend against the Bananas in KC.
2:46:40 >> They've got a chance [music]
2:46:42 >> to beat the Savannah Bananas in a series
2:46:45 for the first time in their young
2:46:47 franchise's history. [music]
2:46:57 >> All right. Another [music]
2:47:08 [music]
2:47:14 incredibly impressive offensive
2:47:16 performance
2:47:18 top to bottom from this powerful Clowns
2:47:21 lineup.
2:47:23 They tally 12 hits producing four
2:47:25 points. They come one trick play shy
2:47:29 from earning the equalizer point
2:47:32 >> on the defensive side
2:47:36 >> and Michael Schwarz has our showman of
2:47:38 the game.
2:47:39 >> Hey guys, anytime I'm sitting next to
2:47:40 Joe Le, I got to sit because again that
2:47:43 perfect sit in Greenville but almost
2:47:44 perfect here with the cycle. What was
2:47:46 the mind games? How how do you like
2:47:49 teeter between like I want to hit a home
2:47:50 run but I just want to win for this
2:47:52 team?
2:47:52 >> Yeah. Um, I mean, I only took one homer
2:47:55 swing and you saw it. I look I looked
2:47:57 over at Fox and I was like, "My bad.
2:47:58 That's my one." But, uh, you know, then
2:48:01 I just tried to barrel it up. Cball, hit
2:48:02 ball. You know, it's not that hard, but
2:48:04 it's kind of hard. You know, round ball,
2:48:06 round bot squared. You come into this
2:48:08 game, bananas number one, clowns sixth.
2:48:11 What's your message to the league?
2:48:12 Because this is such competitive banana
2:48:15 ball right now in the month of June.
2:48:17 >> Hey, don't let the clowns get hot, baby.
2:48:19 Don't let the clowns get hot. Come on.
2:48:22 Don't you dare let the
2:48:23 >> banana ball backstage question comes
2:48:24 from 7-year-old Nash. Would you rather
2:48:27 pitch a banana ball game or play an
2:48:31 entire game of football?
2:48:33 >> I rather pitch a banana ball game.
2:48:35 >> I do. I do not want to play football at
2:48:38 all. No thanks.
2:48:39 >> Bo Josh, maybe that's a new staff for
2:48:40 you. Get this arm ready. We'll see you
2:48:42 tomorrow right back here at Grayson
2:48:44 Stadium. We'll see you. Enjoy.
2:48:46 >> See you tomorrow. Love you, Mom.
2:48:47 >> I would love to see Joe Lidle on the
2:48:50 mound. Are you kid? You kidding me? Come
2:48:52 on now. Guy's got a chooch behind the
2:48:54 dish. Seen it thrown from home to second
2:48:57 and third plenty of times. I'm sure he'd
2:48:58 be fine. 60 ft 6 in away. How about four
2:49:02 for four and a homer shy of the cycle.
2:49:04 Couple runs driven in. Two scored as
2:49:06 well. Lidle. I mean, what an offensive
2:49:09 clinic he put on tonight and he's been
2:49:12 putting on here from start to finish in
2:49:15 his fourth World Tour. But what also
2:49:16 doesn't need to be forgotten is that Joe
2:49:18 Lidle missed eight games due to injury
2:49:22 last month. And in the six games since
2:49:25 he has returned, he pretty much picked
2:49:27 off where he left off with really hot
2:49:29 hitting. He's got a hit in all six of
2:49:31 those starts for the Indianapolis
2:49:33 Clowns. And Coach Box has not moved him
2:49:35 out of that cleanup spot because he is
2:49:38 so consistent [music] for this offense.
2:49:40 And we saw Lidle again starts off the
2:49:43 game with a single, then gets the triple
2:49:46 in the third, double in the fifth, and
2:49:48 another [music] single in the seventh. A
2:49:50 great allaround night for the Clowns
2:49:52 extra hitter, who [music] I know is very
2:49:55 excited about getting behind the plate
2:49:58 very, very soon. Yeah, still coming back
2:50:01 from that knee injury. So, Lidle, when
2:50:04 he is healthy enough, we'll certainly
2:50:06 back be back behind the plate as we
2:50:08 welcome you back inside the booth. Josh
2:50:10 Tipsky, Bo Scalla, thank you all again
2:50:12 so much for spending your thirsty
2:50:14 Thursday with us here in virtual Banana.
2:50:17 A very impressive win for the Clowns,
2:50:20 winning the point in the first inning.
2:50:21 They seated it in the second. It was
2:50:23 tied at one, but when they jumped ahead
2:50:25 2-1 in the third, they never looked
2:50:27 back.
2:50:27 >> Yeah. And this Bananas offense just
2:50:29 continues to scuffle. I mean, you kind
2:50:31 of have to call it like it is after a
2:50:33 while. This is their third straight game
2:50:35 where they only recorded six total hits
2:50:38 in the ball game. The Bananas just have
2:50:40 not been able to string things together
2:50:42 very well. And again, we talked about it
2:50:44 a little earlier, the lack of consistent
2:50:47 contact of this team certainly needs to
2:50:49 be something that they should focus on.
2:50:51 Just not a lot of line drives, a lot of
2:50:53 balls beat into the ground, and clearly
2:50:56 the Clowns just a better team both
2:50:58 offensively and from a pitching
2:50:59 standpoint tonight.
2:51:01 >> Not a doubt at all. Uh I unfortunately
2:51:04 will be in wedding land for the rest of
2:51:06 the weekend. So Josh Tleski has the keys
2:51:09 to the kingdom each of the next two
2:51:11 nights. He is going to do a fantastic
2:51:13 job. I cannot wait to watch from upstate
2:51:15 New York. A big shout out to our entire
2:51:18 cast and crew. our producer Chadwick
2:51:20 Folkstead, our director Alex Gross, and
2:51:23 our incredibly talented folks in the
2:51:24 control room and on the field here over
2:51:27 in Grayson Stadium. For Michael Schwarz,
2:51:29 my man Josh Tlesky, who will be on the
2:51:31 playbyplay and color commentary [music]
2:51:34 each of the next two nights. Uh that's
2:51:36 not just one job, that is two jobs for
2:51:40 just one man. That's how good it's going
2:51:41 to be. I am Vikos Scalla saying so long
2:51:43 for now. I will see you in Lincoln,
2:51:46 Nebraska on the call [music] and I will
2:51:48 see you in the comments section each of
2:51:50 the next two nights. Indianapolis Clowns
2:51:53 victory 42. They've got a chance to take
2:51:56 the series tomorrow night. Again, it
2:51:58 will be first pitch 7:30 p.m. Eastern as
2:52:01 we get the second of this threeame set
2:52:04 between the Clowns and the Nanners. And
2:52:06 until we see you tomorrow night, we will
2:52:08 [music]
2:52:09 see you later.
2:52:19 >> [music]
2:52:24 >> Cats on the back. Me and Vick Wilson are
2:52:26 legally blind. [music]
2:52:36 [music]
2:52:40 Yeah.
2:52:44 [music]
2:52:49 Yeah. [music]
2:52:54 [music]
2:52:59 [music]
