5:44 Fighters earning the four seed after
5:46 going 6 and 27. Only winning three times
5:49 in 23 chances against the Savannah
5:52 Bananas, the odds stacked against them
5:54 going against the team in yellow. Until
5:57 Bradford Webb and Ben Dump stepped up.
5:59 >> Bradford Webb, six innings, six goose
6:03 eggs, four Ks. He was miraculous.
6:07 Ben Dump IN THE THIRD FIRED UP AS HE
6:10 DRIBBLES THIS ONE OVER TO FIRST. STEPHEN

6:25 just as good a chance as anybody else.
6:27 [music] But they dropped game two by one
6:29 point leading to a winner-take-all
6:31 Showdowns in Grayson Stadium. Dalton
6:33 Cornett getting his chance to shine and
6:36 creating a moment that will last in
6:38 Banana Ball history. DALTON CORNETT
6:41 DEEP OUT TO RIGHT.
6:43 GONE!
6:45 DALTON CORNETT
6:46 SENDS THE FIRE FIGHTERS TO THE 2025
6:49 BANANA BALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL.
6:54 >> [cheering]
6:55 >> I DON'T EVEN HAVE WORDS RIGHT NOW. This
6:57 is like the greatest moment in my life
6:58 history. From four seed to the
7:00 championship game, the Fire Fighters
7:02 becoming the ultimate Cinderella story
7:05 in Bananaland.
7:09 The Fire and Flames picking right up
7:10 where they left off in 2026. With
7:13 long-time Bananas Eric Jones Jr., Jared
7:15 Donaldson, and Zack Phillips officially
7:18 aboard, the team picked up its first
7:20 ever sweep in Banana Ball over the Loco
7:22 Beach Coconuts in Little Rock, Arkansas.
7:27 Launched an historic offensive
7:29 performance in Montgomery, Alabama
7:31 scoring 22 runs in one game to beat the
7:34 Indianapolis Clowns 4-2. Then swept the
7:37 Party Animals for the first time ever in
7:40 Albuquerque highlighted by an incredible
7:42 two rounds of Showdowns in game two. The
7:45 Fire Fighters are the two seed IN THE
7:48 BANANA BALL OPEN. HONESTLY, I've kind of
7:51 done it so much now, I'm pretty
7:52 confident in myself
7:53 on that.
8:02 When you enter the fire service, you're
8:05 entering a brotherhood unlike any other
8:07 and you're trying to be the one who is
8:10 going to save somebody's life every
8:11 single day and you're in those
8:12 high-stress situations. That is a bond
8:14 unlike any other. So remember when you
8:16 put these jerseys on who you represent.
8:18 Take honor in that, take pride in that.
8:20 When you enter this locker room, you've
8:23 officially entered the brotherhood of
8:25 the Banana Ball Fire Department. And
8:26 let's take pride in that.
8:30 ON HIS FIRST SWING WITH THE FIRE
8:32 FIGHTERS, AJ PUMPS IT. JARED DONALDSON
8:37 STRIKES OUT THE SIDE, HIS FIRST FRAME
8:39 AGAINST THE NANNERS.
8:46 NOAH BRIDGES IS TIMELESS.
8:49 WE HAVE A GOOD OFFENSE.
8:51 TINY WITH THE BIG SHOT.
8:56 DARIAN MCDOWELL.
8:59 >> [screaming]
9:01 >> WHAT A HOTTER team in sports, baby?
9:03 Let's go.
9:07 Today is the first day of the rest of
9:10 our lives and also the chase for the
9:12 Banana Ball Championship League
9:13 postseason. Here in Greenville, South
9:15 Carolina, 6,700 of our closest friends
9:19 gathering in Fluor Field for matchup two
9:22 of the Fire Fighters and Indianapolis
9:24 Clowns. The Fire and Flames rewriting
9:26 their own history books just 11 games
9:28 into this world tour, but the Clowns
9:30 back in the state where they just swept
9:32 the Loco Beach Coconuts to earn an
9:34 improbable birth in the Banana Ball
9:36 Open. The race for the playoffs begins
9:39 now. It's the Fire Fighters. IT'S THE
9:41 INDIANAPOLIS CLOWNS LIVE AND IN LIVING
9:43 COLOR in Greenville. Let's roll and
9:46 welcome inside the Dispatch Center here
9:48 at Fluor Field. I'm Zack State and off
9:50 the heels of one of the most thrilling
9:52 weekends that we have seen here in
9:54 Bananaland. Only one of the six teams in
9:56 the BBCL has an opportunity to feel
9:59 comfortable and that is the Texas
10:01 Tailgaters, the winners of the inaugural
10:03 Banana Ball Open. They are now
10:05 officially locked in to the post season
10:08 in October, already six months ahead of
10:10 time. Let's take you back to the weekend
10:12 that was at Grayson Stadium. First game
10:14 up last Thursday, it was the
10:15 Indianapolis [music]
10:16 Clowns and the Savannah Bananas and
10:17 Robert Anthony Cruz, not a gracious
10:19 host. He got things rolling, walk-off
10:21 tater, Savannah [music] up two nothing
10:23 after a couple of innings, but the same
10:25 sensational rookie Bobby La Day doing
10:26 everything he could to keep his team in
10:28 it. Top four sends one to the front
10:30 offices of Banana [music] Ball and B
10:31 Road solo tater, all of a sudden the
10:34 Clowns have a shot to win a point, but
10:35 the Bananas come right back in the
10:37 bottom of the fourth. Bill LeRoy, the
10:39 captain with two on,
10:40 >> [music]
10:40 >> gets one to land next to Joe Gray, he
10:42 couldn't find it. Two runs would score
10:44 to win the frame and ultimately it's the
10:46 Bananas who cruise four nothing [music]
10:48 to go to the title series. Now, who
10:51 would they face in that weekend [music]
10:53 series? It's either the Firefighters or
10:54 the Tailgaters and Eric Jones Jr. wants
10:56 that weekend reservation. Walk-off in
10:58 the first inning, Firefighters are up,
11:00 but the Gators bats found some loud
11:02 hits. Matt Danford with a two RBI double
11:04 in the [music] third, Tailgaters go up
11:06 two one. Then Kyle Martin, one pitch,
11:08 one swing, ONE SHOT. BALL WENT AT LEAST
11:11 430 feet to dead center, Gators [music]
11:14 go up three one. And then the trick play
11:16 is becoming a massive deal. Look at
11:18 Jonathan Sunshine Lueders, dive out and
11:21 then turn THE DOUBLE TRICK PLAY in a
11:22 matter of moments. Gators won the
11:24 equalizer point and [music] that was
11:26 massive because it made it four to two
11:28 going into the ninth. Lamar Sparks
11:30 broken back signal a single will do the
11:32 job, but it only makes it a one point
11:34 game and that equalizer point just
11:36 enough separation for the Texas
11:38 Tailgaters [music]
11:38 to survive and advance, winning four to
11:41 three and going to the weekend
11:42 championship series. So, for the FOURTH
11:44 AND FIFTH TIME THIS [music] YEAR, we see
11:46 the Tailgaters and the Savannah Bananas,
11:48 this time with all the stakes on the
11:50 line for an opportunity at the post
11:52 season [music] in October. Enjoy Jordan
11:55 Barfield himself quite a Saturday night.
11:57 First home run in Banana Ball in his
12:00 young career, Oppo Taco and the
12:02 Tailgaters would go up two nothing early
12:04 on, putting the Bananas on their heels
12:06 for one of the few times we've seen this
12:07 season. And then once again, trick play
12:09 is the name [music] of the game for the
12:11 Texas Tailgaters. Eighth inning, they're
12:13 down by one trick play, not anymore.
12:15 Taylor [music] Justice under the leg
12:16 flip to Joe Sperone, we're tied at 13.
12:18 Two outs, they got to have a trick play
12:20 here and they do. Bounce to himself,
12:24 that's the 14th trick play, that's the
12:25 equalizer point, but the play of the
12:27 game once again on defense.
12:29 Dan Obers thought he had a triple off
12:31 the wall, but look at this field [music]
12:32 from Zack Watson. Turns and throws it to
12:34 Jordan Hussein as Ty Jackson is scoring.
12:36 J5 with a truly magical throw over to
12:39 Jordan [music] Barfield, tag applied,
12:41 that's your ballgame. The Gators win it
12:43 three to two. So, we go to Sunday and we
12:46 had to go to showdowns. Danny Hasley,
12:48 shut [music] down closer, but Nick
12:50 Leaser Lopez wants to go to October.
12:54 Into left field, Reese Leciaga has
12:56 really got to get on his horse to chase
12:57 it and he wouldn't do it because Lopi
13:00 has legs and speed to burn for days. He
13:03 races home, the Tailgaters sweep the
13:05 Savannah Bananas, winning in round one
13:07 of showdowns and just [music] like that,
13:09 they have locked themselves into the
13:11 BBCL post season all the way in October.
13:14 And with that, let's take you to the
13:15 Banana Ball Championship League
13:17 standings. [music]
13:18 You'll notice here, the common theme is
13:20 that there is nobody that's truly hurt
13:23 by the Banana Ball Open, you're only
13:24 helped. The Savannah [music] Bananas are
13:26 still your top overall team at 10 and
13:27 one. Firefighters, even though they lost
13:29 on Friday, are still the two seed. The
13:31 Tailgaters, even though they won the
13:33 whole thing, are still in that [music]
13:34 third spot and the Clowns are still
13:36 fourth. Now, there is a four three-way
13:37 tie there between the Coconuts, Clowns
13:39 and Party Animals. It's a whole new
13:40 beginning to the season now [music] here
13:42 for all three of those teams. So again,
13:44 the Banana Ball Open helped the Texas
13:46 Tailgaters, but everybody [music] else
13:48 staying right where they were and that's
13:50 a massive deal, especially for the
13:52 Firefighters who are off to an historic
13:54 start here in 2026. Six and five is the
13:57 first time they've ever had a winning
13:59 record and their offense [music] is
14:01 moving and grooving. Since we went to
14:03 Little Rock, Arkansas, they have 83
14:05 runs. That's in the last month. That is
14:07 the most in the league by 16 runs over
14:11 the second place team. Their offense has
14:13 found life and then some. Val [music]
14:15 Perez has managed this team perfectly as
14:18 we take you to some of the first and
14:19 it's hard to really keep track of them
14:21 here for the Firefighters. First ever
14:23 winning [music] record, check. First
14:24 ever three game winning streak, check.
14:26 Earn their first two sweeps in team
14:28 history, one in Little Rock over the
14:29 Loco Beach Coconuts, the next over the
14:31 reigning world tour champions and the
14:33 Party Animals in Albuquerque. One of the
14:35 guys that's really helped the
14:36 Firefighters get off to such a fiery
14:38 start is Mason Maxwell, hitting above
14:40 350 and he's got Michael Schwartz, but
14:43 he's using him as his canvas of art.
14:45 Let's see what they're doing.
14:50 Hey, we want to bring you inside a
14:51 little get ready with me video with
14:53 Mason Maxwell in the Firefighters dugout
14:56 bathroom. You got to get some eye black
14:58 on, don't you? Yeah, well, well Michael,
15:00 I'm not I'm not going to be doing it.
15:02 We're going to be putting it on you. On
15:03 me? Yeah, we're going to be putting the
15:05 eye black on you today. So, we're going
15:07 to we're going to get this thing going,
15:08 you know? I don't I don't really wear
15:10 eye black anymore.
15:10 >> Why not? You know, Firefighters have
15:13 been hot, my bat personally has been
15:14 hot. Superstition wise, we're going to
15:16 go clean face. My mom always said I had
15:18 a pretty face, so. My mom says that too,
15:20 but I guess not today.
15:22 >> for you today. Okay, don't watch, mom.
15:23 Don't watch. All right, so. So, we're
15:25 going to go with So, this first little
15:27 trim, all right? So, last year, I'm not
15:30 going to do the full Mad Max look for
15:32 you, but last year in Boston, this is
15:34 one of my favorite duos that I did. So,
15:37 we're out here, we're going to go over
15:39 the nose in a sick way. Don't worry, I'm
15:41 not going to do you dirty at all. Nasal
15:43 strip? Yeah, pretty much a nasal strip.
15:45 We'll go with the whole sizer. Hey,
15:47 Maxwell, I got a question for you.
15:50 I'm calling you by your last name for
15:51 this interview because we're kind of
15:53 like doing this with the whole eye
15:54 black. You started off a little bit slow
15:56 in the beginning of the season, but now
15:57 you got hot to have this superstition.
16:00 Yes. What led to this success? Was it
16:03 the teammates? Was it something you did
16:04 mentally, physically?
16:06 >> honestly,
16:08 I had to get back to the mental mindset
16:09 of of not caring and just playing the
16:11 game and having fun. Getting back to
16:13 having fun and stop stressing about it.
16:15 And you know what? It always works out.
16:17 And uh I was wearing my skull cap again,
16:19 that was like another thing it heated me
16:21 up at the end of last year. So, just
16:22 more things, you know? Who knew fashion
16:25 had such a huge part of Banana Ball?
16:28 Hey, Zack, how do I look?
16:31 Actually, it doesn't look that bad at
16:33 all.
16:35 Let me fix this. Let's get the
16:39 I think it looks pretty dope.
16:41 Okay.
16:42 Okay.
16:44 I like that, pretty good.

19:32 FIREFIGHTERS!
19:35 >> [cheering]
19:47 [music]
19:54 >> There firemen and fire women dancing on
19:57 the field. Literal flames are shooting
19:59 out of the ground here in Greenville,
20:01 South Carolina. This is a show unlike
20:04 they've ever seen before. And so are the
20:06 Indianapolis Clowns
20:08 who a couple of weekends ago in
20:10 Charleston, South Carolina
20:12 were at an improbable disadvantage to
20:15 try and make the Banana Ball Open.
20:18 If you look at the standings beforehand
20:20 this is a team
20:21 that had
20:23 less than 7% chance to make it. Look at
20:26 the standings here. Clowns were dead
20:28 last. 6 and 1/2% chance to make it. They
20:31 needed to sweep the Coconuts. They
20:33 needed probably a little help from the
20:34 Texas Tailgaters. And they absolutely
20:37 had to have the Firefighters sweep the
20:38 Party Animals. But you know what? We
20:41 helped them out a little bit now,
20:42 Bakurki. But mainly the Clowns helped
20:45 themselves. Going to Charleston, South
20:48 Carolina for the Coconuts home debut.
20:52 And they absolutely spoiled the beach
20:54 party. So did JBJ.
20:57 He's just in his 10th game here in the
20:59 Sports. World [music] Series champion,
21:02 former College World Series champion and
21:04 MVP. And you see [music] why here.
21:07 In the fourth, a single. He's already
21:08 got a triple and a single to his [music]
21:10 name. And guess what? He's now got a
21:11 home run to his name. He is 3/4 of the
21:13 way to a cycle. If I'm teasing it, you
21:16 probably know what's about to come next.
21:17 [music]
21:18 Seventh inning
21:20 ground rule double. He's just the third
21:22 player in Banana Ball history to hit for
21:25 the cycle. The fourth instance that it's
21:27 ever happened in the sport along with
21:28 two from Jake Skull and one from [music]
21:31 Kyle Jackson earlier this year. The
21:32 Clowns were unstoppable. 21-6 outscoring
21:36 the Coconuts in game one. And then Joe
21:38 Lidel. WHAT A BAD FLIP. Ben Parker doing
21:40 everything he could to catch [music] it.
21:41 Probably wouldn't have mattered anyway
21:43 cuz a runner could have tagged up from
21:44 third. Then Brett Maddox, huge [music]
21:46 strikeout. The Clowns dancing away. And
21:49 then Tanner Allen.
21:51 There's a little tip drill from Bobby
21:53 LeDay.
21:54 The 3-2 lead in the top of the ninth.
21:56 NICO HULSHIZER. HOW ABOUT THAT TO CLINCH
21:59 THE first [music] ever sweep in the
22:01 team's history. Monae Davis can wave the
22:04 flag because the Clowns did the
22:06 unthinkable. Swept the Coconuts right
22:08 out of the open and [music] got
22:09 themselves into the Banana Ball Open. So
22:12 sweet South Carolina node here to
22:14 [music]
22:15 the Greenville Drive, affiliate of the
22:16 Boston Red Sox. Look at what they did.
22:19 24 runs to 31 hits. 425 average. Their
22:23 offense [music] exploded. And as you
22:25 know, JBJ who has been on fire, pun
22:27 intended, to start this [music] year
22:29 becomes just the third player in Banana
22:30 Ball history to ever hit for the cycle.
22:33 The Clowns hoping to refine that form
22:36 here in their next weekend. Remember,
22:38 they only played one game against the
22:39 Savannah Bananas.
22:42 They hope to refine that [music] form
22:43 here against the Firefighters. But hey,
22:45 Jaylen Vasquez played here at North
22:47 Greenville in college. Let's hear from
22:48 him.
22:52 Hey, with Jaylen Vasquez here. Hey, by
22:54 the way, he wears a number two. I don't
22:56 know if you knew this, but his nickname
22:58 is Deuce because he wore that number for
22:59 so long. For Derek Jeter. Opposite of
23:02 Derek Jeter, we have the Green Monster,
23:05 the replica in the background. I was
23:06 talking to Jackie Bradley about this
23:08 before. How does that play when you step
23:10 up to the plate? Are you trying to go
23:11 for it? Does that mess with you a little
23:13 bit?
23:13 >> Yeah. Our hitting coach definitely
23:15 emphasize on trying to go that way just
23:17 cuz like it's a short porch and anything
23:19 off that wall is a sure double. So my
23:21 approach is definitely that backside
23:23 today. But I mean, I'm look I'm always
23:24 looking to pull the ball. Now, you're no
23:26 stranger to this park. You actually were
23:28 here two or three years ago. You got one
23:31 at bat when you're with North Greenville
23:33 University. You weren't even supposed to
23:34 play that day and you had a sac fly. So
23:36 how you stepping up for your team today
23:38 when they need you most? Yeah, man. You
23:39 know, I'm just going to go in in the box
23:41 just being ready
23:42 and just be ready to hit. I'm going to
23:44 do what I'm going to be a team player
23:46 and do whatever I can for my team. I
23:47 love that. South Carolina guy. You went
23:49 to North
23:51 You went to
23:52 North Greenville University not far from
23:54 here. You told me you didn't really
23:55 spend much time here in Greenville. But
23:57 what's it like being back in South
23:58 Carolina? Man, it's amazing, man. Doing
24:00 the tour here doing a tour through South
24:01 Carolina. You know, we got Spartanburg
24:02 next. Just to come back to Greenville.
24:05 You know, I'll I'll get to see my my
24:07 head coach, Atlanta Pal. So it'll be
24:09 it'll be cool. But just to be here and
24:11 to see all these guys out here. We're
24:12 going to have a good time tonight and
24:13 just play some baseball, baby. You know
24:14 what? He's got swag. He's got aura.
24:16 Thank you so much. Have a great game, my
24:17 man. Enjoy. We got so much more from
24:20 South Carolina.
24:26 Just got his CDL license to drive this
24:29 fire truck.
24:35 He opens the door and stops.
24:38 FANS, GIVE IT UP FOR TONIGHT'S hero
24:41 hitter. He is 6 years old. HIS NAME IS
24:44 COLE.
24:50 FANS, COLE has a big task ahead. He has
24:53 to hit a home run
24:54 against these goofy clowns.
24:58 I think he's ALREADY GOT TWO STRIKES ON
25:00 HIM. AND WAIT A MINUTE.
25:02 THIS WAS SO UNFAIR, BO HAD TO COME OUT
25:04 and get some help.
25:05 NOT ONLY GET SOME HELP, BUT HE TACKLES
25:07 THE CLOWN PITCHER.
25:10 And he steals the ball.
25:13 And he gave him a little gnaw on the
25:14 leg, too. That might leave a mark.
25:17 All right, fans. It seems like it's a
25:18 little more fair. Our home RUN HITTER
25:22 BLASTS IT!
25:27 HE'S RUNNING DOWN TO FIRST.
25:30 HE'S BOOGYING ON TO SECOND.
25:33 BALL'S IN THE AIR. IT GOES INTO RIGHT
25:35 FIELD. THEY CAN'T MAKE THE TRICK PLAY.
25:39 FANS, CHEER HIM ON. IT'S GOING TO BE
25:41 CLOSE.
25:41 >> [cheering]
25:43 >> THERE'S A SCRAMBLE. THE BALL GOES AND IT
25:45 STAYS.
25:48 THE PLAY IS COMING TO THE PLATE.
25:50 THE BALL'S COMING IN.
25:51 COLE IS JOGGING. HERE COMES THE TAG.
25:54 >> [cheering]
25:54 >> SAFE!
25:59 FANS, GIVE IT UP FOR TONIGHT'S HERO
26:02 HITTER, COLE!
26:03 >> [screaming]
26:11 >> SO Greenville
26:13 the play
26:15 Banana Ball is the fastest and most
26:17 entertaining show in sports. And the 11
26:20 rules guarantee the most fans first
26:22 experience every second. Unbelievable!
26:25 Welcome to THE BANANA BALL CHAMPIONSHIP
26:27 LEAGUE. Rule number one. Win the inning,
26:30 win the point. The team that scores the
26:32 most runs in an inning wins the point.
26:34 >> IT'S A WALK-OFF WINNER! To the deepest
26:37 part OF THE FIELD! [cheering]
26:38 OH MY GOODNESS! WITH the equalizer
26:40 point, trick plays provide the away team
26:42 an opportunity to earn a point going
26:44 into the final inning. And in the final
26:46 inning, every run counts as a point.
26:49 Rule number two. Banana Ball has a
26:51 two-hour time limit guaranteeing that
26:54 every game is fast-paced and
26:56 action-packed.
26:58 Rule number three. No stepping out of
27:00 the batter's box. If you do, it will
27:02 result in a strike.
27:03 >> Max stepped out of the box. And because
27:05 he stepped out of the box, that's it!
27:07 Rule number four. No bunting cuz bunting
27:10 sucks. If you bunt, you'll be thrown out
27:13 of the game. Rule number five. Batters
27:15 can steal first base.
27:16 >> Ball three. GIDEON TAKING OFF FOR FIRST.
27:18 THROW FROM LEROY. IN TIME!
27:21 RULE NUMBER SIX. There's no walks. Walks
27:24 are ball four sprints. The batter can
27:26 advance as far as they want until every
27:29 position player touches THE BALL.
27:31 >> BOTH DEFENDERS HAVE TOUCHED THE BANANA
27:33 BALL. IT IS A FOUR-BASE SPRINT TO OPEN
27:36 up the ball game. Rule number seven.
27:39 No mound visits.
27:41 Nope.
27:42 Rule number eight. Foul balls [music]
27:44 caught by a fan count as an out.
27:52 Rule number nine. The showdowns. In
27:55 showdowns, the best of the best face off
27:57 in the biggest moment. One hitter versus
28:00 one pitcher with one fielder behind him.
28:02 And the hitter has to score. Take to
28:04 right center.
28:06 See
28:07 you later!
28:08 Rule number 10. The Banana Ball
28:10 Challenge Rule gives the coaches and
28:12 you, the fans, a chance to impact a call
28:15 on the field.
28:16 >> [cheering]
28:17 >> Rule number 11. The Golden Batter. Once
28:19 a game, each team can give any player an
28:22 at bat regardless of the lineup. This
28:24 offers the biggest matchups on the
28:26 biggest stage. Big on big!
28:29 Game over!
28:30 It's gone!
28:31 Let's go!
28:32 Let's go!
28:33 Get out of here, ball!
28:34 >> [cheering]
28:35 >> That thing HAD A FAMILY!
28:38 >> [screaming]
28:38 >> AND those are the rules of Banana Ball.
28:42 This is not any other night at the
28:44 firehouse. This game is baseball by
28:46 birth, fruit by name, and an absolute
28:49 worldwide phenomenon by the grace of
28:52 God. But make no mistake. When the heat
28:55 gets too intense, we don't COOL OFF. WE
28:57 RUN towards the flames. So this is the
29:00 time for all 5,500 fans in ATTENDANCE TO
29:04 GET ON YOUR FEET and give me YOUR
29:08 VOICES.
29:12 Because this is the hottest show in
29:15 sports. Ladies and gentlemen, this is
29:18 BANANA
29:20 BALL!
29:22 AND NOW, THE STARTING LINEUP FOR your
29:26 Firefighters.
29:28 Leading off at second base, number 55,
29:32 Tanner Tiny Hughes! [cheering]
29:37 >> [applause]
29:38 >> Batting second, behind the plate, number
29:41 three, Dalton Cornett!
29:44 >> [cheering]
29:46 >> In the three hole, manning the hot
29:49 corner, number 11, Logan Showtime Lacey.
29:57 Batting cleanup at first base, number
30:00 four, Eric Jones.
30:03 >> [cheering]
30:05 [applause]
30:06 >> In the five-hole, ranging center field,
30:10 number 30, Armando Vazquez. [groaning]
30:14 >> [screaming]
30:15 [cheering]
30:17 >> Batting sixth, the hotshot at shortstop,
30:21 number two, Kayden Peanut Green.
30:26 >> [cheering]
30:28 >> In the seven slot, the designated
30:31 hitter, NUMBER ZERO, LAMAR
30:34 >> [screaming and groaning]
30:35 >> SPARKS.
30:36 >> [cheering]
30:39 >> In the eight-hole, ranging right field,
30:42 number 24, DAKOTA
30:45 D-MAX MCFADDEN.
30:48 >> [cheering]
30:49 [applause]
30:50 >> Batting ninth, the extra hitter, number
30:53 seven,
30:54 MASON MAXWELL.
30:58 >> [cheering]
30:59 >> AND THE DECKY, ranging left field,
31:03 NUMBER NINE, NOAH BRIDGES.
31:07 >> [cheering]
31:09 >> TONIGHT'S starting pitcher, the
31:11 fireballer on the mound, number 42,
31:14 BRADFORD
31:15 WEBB.
31:17 >> [cheering]
31:18 >> THE FIRE FIGHTERS ARE LED by Battalion
31:21 Chief Al Perez, Captain Corey Pi, and
31:24 Lieutenant Drew Iniesta.
31:33 Ladies and gentlemen,
31:35 at this time, we ask all those who are
31:36 able to please rise, uncover your heads,
31:39 and turn toward the flag with your right
31:41 hand over your heart for this evening's
31:43 performance of our national anthem.
31:46 Performing this evening, please welcome
31:48 Courtney Kostowik with her rendition of
31:51 the Star-Spangled Banner.
31:55 Oh, say can [singing] you see
32:00 by the
32:01 dawn's
32:04 early
32:04 >> [singing]
32:05 >> light, what so
32:06 proudly
32:08 we
32:09 hailed
32:10 at the twilight's
32:12 >> [singing]
32:15 >> last
32:16 gleaming, whose broad stripes
32:18 and bright [singing]
32:20 stars
32:21 through the
32:24 >> [singing]
32:25 >> perilous
32:27 fight, o'er the ramparts
32:30 we watched [singing]
32:32 were
32:33 so gallantly
32:35 >> [singing]
32:35 >> streaming?
32:37 And the
32:40 rockets' red glare, the
32:45 bombs bursting in
32:51 air, gave
32:53 proof
32:54 through the night that our flag
32:56 was still there.
33:00 Oh,
33:01 say,
33:02 does that
33:02 >> [singing]
33:04 >> star-spangled
33:07 banner
33:11 yet
33:12 wave
33:16 o'er the
33:19 land
33:22 of the free and the home of the
33:28 >> [cheering]
33:31 [singing]
33:34 >> brave?
33:39 Thank you very much, Courtney Kostowik.
33:42 >> [applause]
33:52 >> It was a lovely voice from Courtney
33:53 Kostowik on the national anthem as we
33:56 start lighting things on fire in
33:58 Greenville, South Carolina. Our first
34:01 visit to this beautiful ballpark, and it
34:03 is an absolutely gorgeous stadium in a
34:05 beautiful city here in the Palmetto
34:07 State. It's the first time we visited
34:10 since July of 2024.
34:12 That was the Party Animals and the Fire
34:14 Fighters. The date was July 27th, 2024.
34:18 That was the final game that the
34:19 Fighters played that season, and they
34:22 won it
34:23 in showdown style. And if you watched
34:25 them, it was an absolutely magical night
34:29 here in Greenville, South Carolina. As
34:30 we look at this beautiful park, you see
34:32 the Greenville Monster, a replica
34:35 of Fenway Park. Of course, the
34:36 Greenville Drive here, the home team for
34:39 Fluor Field,
34:41 part of the Boston Red Sox affiliate.
34:43 Now, as we start getting things situated
34:45 on the field, let's take a look at what
34:46 the defenses are going to look like for
34:48 the Fire Fighters. And the biggest thing
34:50 you'll notice is the two middle
34:52 infielders, Kayden Peanut Green and
34:54 Tyner Hughes. Those two have been
34:56 absolutely incredible
34:58 over the first couple of weeks for the
34:59 Fire and Flames.
35:01 18 trick plays, 17 trick plays for Tyner
35:04 Hughes, 18 for young Peanut. We've had a
35:07 couple of different changes throughout.
35:08 We start taking a look now
35:11 at the defense.
35:21 Logan Lacey still at third base. Eric
35:23 Jones Jr. has not played first [music]
35:24 base a ton this year. He's switched
35:26 between that and catcher, but tonight
35:28 Dalton Cornett will get the start at
35:29 catcher. So, Eagan, for just maybe the
35:31 fifth or sixth time this year, is going
35:33 to get a shot at first base. Dakota
35:34 McFadden is not your right fielder. That
35:37 is in fact Smoke South Trimble. He is
35:39 your designated fielder tonight. The 18
35:42 trick plays for Peanut leads the Fire
35:43 Fighters, 17 for Tyner Hughes is second.
35:45 How about the All-Star? Bradford Webb
35:48 coming up onto the mound here. The
35:51 problem for me for him over the last
35:52 couple of weeks has been ball four
35:54 sprints. He gave up three
35:56 in the first couple of weeks.
35:58 >> [cheering]
35:58 >> In Scottsdale, he gave up four ball four
36:01 sprints, and then gave up about five or
36:03 six in Albuquerque. If he gets that
36:06 situated, and he's going back to a
36:07 former stance here tonight in his
36:09 windup, that could very well change the
36:11 ball four sprints. And if it does, he is
36:13 unbelievable. Kazie is about to ring the
36:15 bell
36:17 as you see Joe Gray Jr. He will lead us
36:20 off, but look at the guy in the
36:22 two-hole, Jackie Bradley Jr., former
36:23 member of the Greenville Drive, former
36:25 South Carolina Gamecock, .409 hitter. He
36:29 will absolutely be a massive, massive
36:32 problem for the Fire Fighters. Let's
36:34 ring the bell and get this thing
36:35 started.
36:38 And when they do, you're going to do
36:40 just that. Greenville, HERE WE GO. ONE,
36:43 TWO, THREE, RING
36:45 THE BELL!
36:49 SHOWTIME!
36:52 STARTING ON THE MOUND for the Fire
36:54 Fighters, number 42, Bradford Webb.
37:09 And Joe Gray Jr. steps up.
37:10 >> Leading it off for the Clowns, number
37:12 three, Joe Gray Jr.
37:22 And we are waiting here.
37:24 Bradford Webb toes the rubber.
37:28 Let's roll.
37:31 Joe almost thought about going for that
37:32 one, instead holds back, better of it.
37:39 And it's a 1-0 count. Bradford Webb, an
37:40 All-Star in the last two months
37:43 of 2025 as he can't locate the second
37:45 pitch
37:46 for a strike.
37:50 Joe Gray,
37:52 a legitimate rodeo clown, cowboy kind of
37:54 guy as he takes that one right off the
37:56 inside there, and that is the first
37:57 strike of the game. Austin Temple,
38:00 big hair and even bigger pants coming on
38:02 in to try to collect that ball.
38:14 Webb fires that one a little bit low.
38:16 And again, this is where the problems
38:17 have started here over the last couple
38:19 of weekends for Bradford Webb. It's been
38:21 the ball four sprints. It's been getting
38:23 behind
38:25 in the counts. He had three ball four
38:26 sprints in the first couple of weeks as
38:28 that one goes right over us here in the
38:30 press box, and I do mean that was mere
38:32 feet over the head of Blake O'Hara and
38:34 myself.
38:38 He had three in the first couple of
38:40 weeks, he's got 10 now.
38:42 Really needs to figure that out, and he
38:44 won't right there. Ball four sprints.
38:45 So, if you're new to banana ball, all
38:47 seven fielders behind the pitcher have
38:48 got to touch the BANANA BALL BEFORE THEY
38:50 CAN TAG HIM OUT, AND JOE GRAY JR.
38:52 aggressive on the base pads, and that
38:54 was good.
38:56 Noah Bridges couldn't lay the tag down,
38:58 didn't have the bat with him, and now
39:01 how about this? A special moment for
39:03 Jackie Bradley Jr.,
39:05 former Greenville Drive member and
39:07 University of South Carolina ball player
39:09 coming back home.
39:11 >> [cheering]
39:12 >> SOUTH CAROLINA! NOW BATTING FOR THE
39:15 INDIANAPOLIS CLOWNS, the center fielder,
39:19 NUMBER 19, JACKIE BRADLEY JR.
39:25 What a moment this is for the folks here
39:27 in Greenville, South Carolina. Want to
39:29 tell you about one of the more unique
39:31 stats we've seen
39:32 here in my time as a broadcaster. JBJ
39:35 was a member of the Greenville Drive, of
39:37 course, affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.
39:39 He played four games for the Drive in
39:41 2011, but all of them were away from
39:43 Fluor Field. The next season he was
39:45 called up to high-A Salem.
39:47 As he swings over that one for strike
39:48 one. So, he never actually played with
39:51 the Greenville Drive here at Fluor
39:52 Field, but as a member of the South
39:54 Carolina Gamecocks, he played here five
39:56 times. So, he has the unique distinction
39:59 of playing here more in college than he
40:01 did in his minor league career. Is that
40:03 strike two off the foul?
40:05 >> [music]
40:05 >> Dalton Cornett will be your catcher
40:06 tonight, dealing with a little bit of a
40:07 hand issue, but nothing too major.
40:11 Been able to practice all week long.
40:12 [music]
40:13 B. Webb in an advantageous count.
40:20 Really trying to get that one on the
40:22 outside, JBJ.
40:25 With a good eye.
40:28 >> [music]
40:32 >> Man's only struck out five times here,
40:34 and he's going TO MAKE IT SIX THERE.
40:35 WHAT A RESPONSE from Bradford Webb.
40:39 Puts the first guy on via the freebie,
40:42 and then responds right back with a
40:44 strikeout. That is his 14th on the
40:46 season, trailing Jared Donaldson by two
40:49 to lead the Firefighters. And really,
40:51 and the Fire and Flames in terms of
40:52 pitching, they have been absolutely
40:54 sparkling when it comes to strikeouts.
40:56 Jared Donaldson with 16, Bradford Webb
40:58 13, Austin Temple with 13. But now comes
41:01 up a man who holds an ever dangerous
41:03 bat, and that is the rookie sensation,
41:06 Bobby LaDay. Last week in the Banana
41:08 Ball Open, hit a home run.
41:10 The only real damage done for the
41:11 Indianapolis Clowns. That one sent into
41:13 the seats, and it will remain in the
41:15 seats, foul.
41:18 Of course, the first pick for the Clowns
41:19 in the second round of the Banana Ball
41:21 Player Draft, and he's been sensational
41:22 for them.
41:24 18 trick plays at shortstop, easily
41:26 leading the team.
41:27 Swings for strike two.
41:33 Bobby LaDay and Ron Franklin Jr., the
41:35 Firefighters, were actually teammates in
41:37 junior college. Ron Franklin is here
41:39 this weekend.
41:40 So, who knows? If you're nice to me, you
41:42 might get him in the booth. As Bobby
41:44 LaDay plants that one in the right
41:45 center field. Joe Gray getting the wave
41:46 around from home. LaDay going to second.
41:48 He'll get up easily with an RBI double,
41:51 and just like that, the Clowns on the
41:52 board. The offense going right back to
41:55 form in Charleston, and Bobby LaDay
41:57 continues to swing a sweet bat.
42:00 Oh, we're going in reverse here.
42:03 Oh,
42:08 it's
42:18 There we go.
42:20 Almost ran out of breath.
42:23 So far, the first three at bats, ball
42:25 four, strikeout, and an RBI double for
42:28 Bobby LaDay.
42:30 And the Clowns have immediately put
42:31 pressure on him. And now, for the third
42:32 time
42:34 this world tour, Joe Lytle's going to go
42:36 up against his former team of the
42:37 Firefighters, sending that one into the
42:39 backstop. Of course,
42:41 one of the hotter bats swinging at the
42:43 end of the year, was hitting well above
42:44 .400 for the Fire and Flames at the end
42:46 of the 2025 world tour, but he was not
42:49 kept via coaches franchise choice.
42:51 Cuz of course, you have Dalton Cornett,
42:53 and Zachary Bridges kept via the fan
42:54 franchise. Over to Peanut, underneath
42:57 the legs. Call that one in for a trick
42:58 play, the first of the game.
43:01 Bobby LaDay moving over to third, but
43:03 that was sweet from Nut.
43:05 Took a little bit of time getting it
43:07 over on the transfer, but EJ,
43:09 nice job just hauling that one back in.
43:11 >> [music]
43:11 >> And now, Nico Hoerner Holsizer
43:14 steps in. He has a dangerous swing, a
43:16 power swing
43:17 that can really do some damage.
43:19 >> [music]
43:20 >> He's got to find the consistency here
43:22 early on in his Banana Ball career. 194,
43:24 just six hits in 31 at bats.
43:31 Kade Green, by the way, six trick plays
43:33 in the Banana Ball Open for the
43:34 Firefighters. That was easily his season
43:36 high. Has not had a ton hit to him this
43:38 year.
43:41 He wanted to be up there in the top of
43:43 the trick play column, especially in a
43:44 position that's loaded as that one goes
43:46 into the dirt with players like Jordan
43:47 Hussein, Ryan Cox, Peyton Shotwell,
43:49 Yeager, obviously Bobby LaDay. Jordan
43:51 Hussein has been unbelievable.
43:54 That was his 19th trick play on the
43:56 season. So, just around the corner for
43:58 20.
44:04 HOLSIZER
44:06 DEEP TO LEFT FIELD. THERE'S NO MONSTER
44:08 THAT MAN CAN'T CONTAIN.
44:12 OFF THE BRICK WALL, [cheering] AND THE
44:14 FIRST HOMER OF THE NIGHT
44:16 goes to Nico Holsizer. It's a three-run
44:19 frame for the Clowns in the top of the
44:21 first.
44:23 And the offense
44:25 LOOKS INCREDIBLE. HI, MICHAEL.
44:30 OH, COME ON, BOYS. LET'S GO.
44:32 >> [cheering]
44:32 >> STARTING OFF HOT. LOVE IT. COME ON,
44:34 LET'S GET SOME MORE.
44:37 I got to ask you a question and do my
44:38 job real quick and take the Banana Ball
44:40 Backstage question.
44:41 Oh.
44:42 Wait. Oh, wait.
44:45 Wait. He had to touch home plate.
44:47 I'm going to take a Banana Ball
44:48 Backstage question early. How's it feel
44:50 to hit a home run, especially one over
44:52 there? You know, it feels really good.
44:54 I've been waiting to do that all season.
44:55 Finally made it happen. Unleash the
44:57 beast over the monster.
44:58 >> Unleash it. You know, took the jersey
45:00 opened the jersey today. Ball went far.
45:02 I think we're going to stick with it.
45:03 All right, I'm going to do the eye
45:04 black. I'm not going to rip the shirt.
45:05 Back to you, Zach.
45:07 >> [laughter]
45:08 >> Michael,
45:09 probably the the right thing to do.
45:11 Nico Holsizer's first home run of the
45:13 year, and it goes over the Greenville
45:15 Monster.
45:16 First player here this weekend to tame
45:19 that bad boy. And I've gone up there.
45:20 JBJ and I were talking a little bit
45:22 earlier. It's about 7 ft shorter than
45:25 the actual monster at Fenway Park.
45:31 So, it's not as indomitable as you would
45:34 think, but it's also not nearly as small
45:36 as you would think for a replica.
45:38 To hack with a swing there from Nico
45:39 Holsizer. Now,
45:42 Corel Prime, [music]
45:43 2-1. Bradford Webb. Logan Lacey in
45:45 between the legs, fielding, spinning
45:47 around, and EJ hauls it in for out
45:49 number three, but not before three runs
45:51 come in against B. Webb.
45:54 It's a three-run lead for the Clowns
45:57 going into the bottom half of the first.
45:59 We'll see if the Firefighters can do any
46:00 damage. Let's go down to the field. Some
46:02 dads need to be hosed.
46:05 Coaching box, here's the Fire Marshal.
46:09 Hey there, Greenville. This is Marshal
46:11 Sheldon, the Fire Marshal. And us
46:14 Firefighters take our training very
46:16 serious. And it doesn't matter the age
46:18 for some of our cadets. So, please help
46:21 us welcome four-year-old Mason. Come on
46:24 out, sir, and his dad.
46:30 All right, Mason. We're going to play a
46:31 little game here called Hose My Dad. So,
46:35 here's what's going to happen here.
46:37 You are going to have the opportunity to
46:39 get this baseball that you can get
46:41 signed by all the players, or the
46:43 opportunity to hose your dad. So, what
46:47 do you want to do?
46:49 Hose my dad.
46:50 He wants to hose his dad.
46:53 Oh my goodness. He wants to hose his
46:55 dad. But, we have another item.
46:58 Sir, we have THIS BAT. WOAH!
47:01 HE IS READY to go. So, would you like
47:03 this bat? You you hit a home run off of
47:05 your dad, or do you want to hose your
47:08 dad? Hose my dad. He said it, folks.
47:12 Hose his dad. All right. All right.
47:15 We have one last opportunity to get our
47:18 cadet here. Do you want this T-shirt?
47:21 You can be the coolest kid at every
47:23 middle school, or preschool, or
47:25 elementary wearing this. Or, do you want
47:29 to hose your dad? Hose my dad. He said
47:33 it, folks.
47:35 Oh my goodness.
47:38 Hey!
47:39 >> [cheering]
47:42 >> Now, Mason, being such a great sport,
47:45 we're going to give you all three items.
47:47 So, Greenville, give it up for
47:49 four-year-old Mason.
47:52 >> [cheering]
47:58 >> The Indianapolis Clowns have come on
47:59 out.
48:00 Here's a quick look at their defense as
48:02 Tiny Hughes steps on in.
48:05 Bobby LaDay, 18 trick plays. Again, by
48:07 far the most here for the Indianapolis
48:10 Clowns. Did a piece for Jaylen Vasquez
48:12 and Eli Payton.
48:14 And David Griffin is the man on the
48:16 mound. He has been as dominant as they
48:17 come here in Banana Ball. Last time he
48:19 was out, actually, was probably the
48:21 hardest outing he has had. Gave up four
48:24 runs in four innings
48:26 and six hits against the Savannah
48:28 Bananas, and still found a way to get
48:30 the job done.
48:35 Tiny Hughes swinging at the first pitch
48:37 he sees. Corel Prime giving it chase.
48:40 Jess, our first base camera operator,
48:42 had absolutely no trouble, not even
48:44 looking at that one. She's an old wily
48:46 veteran there.
48:47 Think Tiny broke his bat, too. He needs
48:49 a new swing.
48:53 This is now
48:54 I don't know how many times
48:56 Tiny Hughes is unafraid of swinging at
48:57 the first pitch of the game. As you take
48:59 a look at the batting order, there are
49:01 seven Firefighters who are hitting over
49:02 .300. That is tied for the most here in
49:05 the Banana Ball Championship League,
49:06 along with the Party Animals. Simply
49:07 [music] put, they are consistent.
49:10 It's David Griffin working quickly. Tiny
49:11 again swinging.
49:13 That one into the seats. Does anybody
49:14 have a play on it? Nope.
49:16 Tiny was the first Firefighter to foul
49:18 out to a fan this year, and it [music]
49:20 was against the Indianapolis Clowns in
49:22 Montgomery, Alabama.
49:24 But he is aggressive at the top as again
49:26 he fouls that one off, this time up on
49:28 the roof of this place.
49:35 >> [cheering]
49:38 >> 0-2. Tiny. Slow dribbler THAT GETS BY
49:41 BOBBY LaDay for a base [music] knock.
49:43 So, how about this?
49:45 That dude just keeps on swinging.
49:48 Tyner Hughes chop a little wood over at
49:51 first base with Drew Yiannestas and
49:52 Corey Pie.
49:55 And now Dalton Cornett steps on in. Over
49:57 the last month, this man has been maybe
49:59 the hottest batter not just in the
50:01 Firefighters, but of all the Banana Ball
50:03 Championship League and he's going to
50:04 bounce that one through
50:06 and two swings in a row, two hits in a
50:07 row. He [music] bounces that one through
50:09 the gap.
50:10 And there are two on with nobody away.
50:13 So, easy does it there for Dalton
50:14 Cornett. [music]
50:16 And now how about Logan Lacey? Showtime
50:18 was the first player
50:20 in Banana Ball history to tower the
50:22 Green Monster at Fenway Park.
50:25 Did it last July and he sent it down to
50:27 Lansdowne Street behind the thing and
50:29 LOOK AT THAT! THREE SWINGS IN A ROW,
50:31 THREE KNOCKS AND THIS ONE IS GOING TO BE
50:33 AN RBI SINGLE. TINY'S
50:35 >> [cheering]
50:36 >> IN STANDING UP. DC3 over to third. Logan
50:39 Lacey
50:40 RBI single and the Firefighters going
50:43 quick, fast and in a hurry. Already one
50:46 back from the Clowns and now Mr. Jones
50:49 hit me, sit around and tell each other
50:50 fairy tales.
50:53 But he has a chance to write a
50:55 real life comeback story here in the
50:57 first inning.
50:59 EJ, the Savannah Bananas [music]
51:00 all-time home run leader.
51:03 That powerful swing from that stoic face
51:07 lighting the Banana Ball up for 29
51:09 homers in his three world tours with the
51:11 team clad in yellow. Another chance for
51:13 the fans down the right field line, they
51:15 don't catch it.
51:17 Just two fan caught foul balls in any
51:20 Firefighter game this year.
51:22 Unfortunately, they both come against
51:23 the Fire and Flames.
51:27 EJ
51:28 good eye stand away from that one. Joe
51:30 Lidle trying to frame it up. In
51:31 Albuquerque, five hits on night one.
51:33 That tied a Banana Ball record.
51:35 Logan Lacey stealing. HIT AND RUN WORK
51:37 TO PERFECTION.
51:40 DALTON CORNETT IN, LACEY TO THIRD. EJ,
51:43 another RBI single.
51:47 That cat is gritty.
51:49 Just continuing to roll.
51:53 Sam Trimble will come in as the
51:55 designated runner and he throws the
51:56 smoke up.
51:58 And nobody away still for the Clowns and
52:01 they've had nothing really in the air.
52:02 It's all been grounders through the gap
52:04 with the exception of Logan Lacey's
52:06 single in the right center. But this
52:07 might do it.
52:09 Lacey
52:10 going home. That will be the inning
52:13 tying run. So, we are all square in the
52:15 inning again, but the double play gets
52:17 the all the runners off the base paths.
52:20 It is a trick play
52:22 for the Indianapolis Clowns. Bobby LaDay
52:24 doing the job
52:26 as Armando Becerra grounds it out, but
52:27 he does get an RBI tag along with that.
52:32 So, now the guy who truly is the best
52:35 hitter statistically in Banana Ball.
52:37 Kaden [music] Peanut Green, .469
52:39 average, .581 OBP. Swings over that one
52:43 for strike one. He has a seven game hit
52:45 streak going right now.
52:47 The Banana Ball Open did [music] not get
52:48 a hit, but guess what? That doesn't
52:49 count towards your world tour stats. So,
52:51 we'll play on with this.
52:53 Again, essentially half the time he
52:55 comes [music] to the plate, he's getting
52:57 on base. He has taken a superstar leap
52:59 and a half. Hit his first home run of
53:01 the year against the Clowns in
53:02 Montgomery as he thought about stealing
53:04 first there.
53:05 Joe Lidle going around the flamethrowers
53:07 behind home instead. Peanut will stay in
53:09 the box, wants to get himself a hit.
53:19 2-1 count.
53:22 Peanut, that is a screamer in the right
53:24 field another base knock.
53:27 So, how about this?
53:28 >> [music]
53:29 >> How about all of the hits so far for the
53:30 Firefighters? Five of them have all been
53:33 singles.
53:35 That's been incredible. And now Lamar
53:37 Jam, Lamar Sparks. Maybe Lamar Jackson
53:40 actually.
54:13 Now batting number zero, Lamar
54:16 Sparks. See now you see why I called him
54:19 Lamar Jackson at first. He's going to
54:20 take a swing in that iconic coat.
54:23 THAT'S SICK HIGH INTO THE SKY. JOE GRAY
54:27 GIVING IT CHASE. CAN HE FIND IT?
54:29 WE'VE SEEN A LITTLE TROUBLE IN THE
54:30 FIELD, BUT NOT THERE AND KADEN PEANUT
54:33 Green will be stranded on first. Lamar
54:36 put a heck of a charge into that one,
54:37 but the Firefighters tie the inning up
54:39 at three runs a piece. So, no point
54:41 allowed. Lot of runs scored in the first
54:44 inning.
54:45 And you see why these two offenses are
54:47 the best two run producers in the Banana
54:49 Ball Championship League.
54:52 As we take a peek at a beautiful scenic
54:54 shot here of Greenville, South Carolina.
54:57 You are seeing the two best hitters in
55:00 Banana Ball statistically.
55:02 Jackie Bradley Jr. 18 hits is the best
55:04 in the league.
55:05 But Kaden Peanut Green, I just told you,
55:07 .469 average and .581 OBP. That is the
55:11 best in the Banana Ball Championship
55:12 League. Simply put, these two guys are
55:14 consistent and they swing the bat with
55:18 intent.
55:19 But they also have patient approaches.
55:21 By the way, if you look at JBJ's
55:22 average, HE'S NOT FAR OFF PEANUT.
55:25 Simply put, you're watching
55:27 the cream rise to the top here in the
55:29 Banana Ball Championship League as we
55:31 head towards now
55:33 the last 50 games of the season. And I
55:35 say that like it's a quick little jump
55:37 there.
55:39 These two players are going to be
55:40 massive in terms of helping their guys
55:42 and their teams make a Banana Ball
55:44 Championship League postseason and it's
55:45 because of the way they swing the bat.
55:47 But also both those guys are incredibly
55:49 good at trick plays. We've seen Peanut
55:51 get his 19th tonight.
55:54 What a start we've had here as Bradford
55:55 Webb throwing the rubber.
55:57 Maybe gets a little warning shot in that
55:59 first inning.
56:00 He can lock himself back in a little.
56:02 BWeb is one of the best we've seen in
56:04 terms of just calming himself down,
56:06 getting himself refocused and reloaded
56:08 and finding a way to get out.
56:14 As Dalton Cornett makes the throw down.
56:16 So, the Firefighters first inning
56:17 includes five singles
56:20 and an RBI counted on a ground into a
56:22 double play.
56:27 While the Clowns got the louder of the
56:29 hits,
56:31 two run homer from Nico Hulshizer's
56:32 first of the year and an RBI double for
56:34 Bobby LaDay.
56:36 What a flying start [music] we've gotten
56:37 off to here. Chris Burgess, oh he gets
56:40 that one in on the hands. Is that one
56:42 trouble for Noah Bridges? No, it's not.
56:45 Won't go as a trick play, but man he had
56:47 to run a mile to get that one.
56:50 But that's exactly what he does. And now
56:52 how about
56:54 Eli Peyton?
56:57 Gotten off to a nice start here as a
56:58 rookie
57:00 in the Banana Ball Championship League.
57:02 Consistent
57:03 consistent fielder at third base and
57:05 that is a tough position to play. He's
57:07 already got a couple of big bombs
57:09 for the Indianapolis Clowns.
57:12 Two homers, he's got 10 hits for a .294
57:14 average.
57:16 His uncle George probably not watching
57:18 tonight as the general manager of the
57:19 Denver Broncos might be a little busy.
57:21 Do [music] they have a second round
57:22 pick, Blake Goocher? No, they don't. A
57:24 third round pick they have to, right? If
57:25 they didn't have a third round pick, I
57:26 don't know [music] what George is doing.
57:28 So, George if you're watching,
57:30 take Jamari Taylor out of Virginia,
57:32 please.
57:32 Peyton fouling that one back.
57:38 2-1 count.
57:48 Screamer over to Tyner. Tough play.
57:50 Turns around and just makes it the easy
57:52 old-fashioned way. That's a
57:54 job and a half [music] there from Tyner
57:55 Hughes to collect that one up and get it
57:57 over to EJ. Definitely tempted to try to
58:00 get it over
58:01 in a trick play column, but you know
58:03 what? It'll do the job just as easily.
58:08 And now Dale Francis Jr. He played a
58:10 couple of games here at [music] Erskine
58:11 College
58:13 at Fluor Field.
58:15 By the way, he's one of like 10,000
58:17 players in Banana Ball to have come
58:18 through Erskine
58:19 including
58:21 Drew Yiannestas, Johnny Hummel, Armando
58:23 Becerra, Mark Racco. RIGHT TO TYNER,
58:26 SCREAMER. GIVES HIM NO TROUBLE.
58:29 MOVING RIGHT ON OVER TO SECOND. THAT'S A
58:30 1 MINUTE AND 48 SECOND inning for
58:33 Bradford Webb.
58:35 Quick, fast and in a hurry. Tyner Hughes
58:37 getting a couple of outs and how about
58:39 that for the Fighters after getting
58:41 knocked around
58:43 a couple of different times
58:45 in the first inning.
58:46 Under 1 minute and 50 seconds for
58:48 Bradford [music] Webb. That's a way to
58:50 get yourself back in a groove.
58:52 As David Griffin goes back to the
58:54 rubber. And now on the field for one of
58:56 those Erskine connections, Drew
58:57 Yiannestas and Michael Schwartz.
58:59 Yeah, hey. I'm here with the guy, Drew
59:01 Yiannestas and we're walking to first
59:03 base before he's coaching, but I got to
59:05 ask you, how are these Firefighter bats
59:07 staying so hot? Yeah, we worked on it
59:09 all prep season. These guys are staying
59:11 with the approach, trusting the guys
59:12 behind them and just sticking with our
59:14 approach this year. Playing with a lot
59:16 of fire and on the gas pedal. That's all
59:17 we've been talking about. You're playing
59:19 with a lot of fire, taunting the
59:20 opponent. It just keeps coming, those
59:22 hats. But I want to show you a tweet
59:25 >> [cheering]
59:25 >> that you recently put up. It's become a
59:27 tradition. You're also taunting your own
59:29 teammates, Johnny Hummel. This is the
59:32 shot that you hit off
59:35 Johnny Hummel and I think you tweeted
59:37 the ball still hasn't landed 5 years
59:40 later. Yes, that is correct. Bring me
59:42 through that. I mean,
59:44 this video should not be 10 hours long.
59:46 >> [laughter]
59:47 >> I I had to make sure that everybody knew
59:49 it was a hanging breaking ball. I got it
59:51 good. I had to show off the Sosa hop.
59:54 And then you zoom in to him and his head
59:55 is down.
59:56 >> Yeah, I just I just had to clip him
59:58 right there. You know, that's what the
59:59 kids are saying now. Clip farming,
1:00:00 that's exactly what I was doing to my
1:00:02 boy.
1:00:02 >> Hey, he's still scared. Half of his hair
1:00:04 is now white. Yeah.
1:00:05 >> Maybe that's for something we don't
1:00:07 know. Maybe stick around a little later.
1:00:09 Don't Are you an internet troll?
1:00:11 No, I try not to be, but good good buddy
1:00:12 of mine, so I had to let him know. Make
1:00:14 sure he he knows his place. Get back to
1:00:17 the game. We'll see you soon.
1:00:18 Drew Inesta absolutely loves holding
1:00:21 people accountable sometimes and you see
1:00:24 why right there. That's a beautiful job
1:00:25 there.
1:00:27 I think he got a hold of our our our
1:00:28 editing systems
1:00:30 and slowed that video down like multiple
1:00:32 times. He made sure we were looking at
1:00:34 Johnny Hummel putting his head down as
1:00:36 Dakota McFadden sends a lightning rod
1:00:38 out into the plaza.
1:00:41 D-Mac one of the few firefighters left
1:00:43 who has actually
1:00:45 played here at Fluor Field back in 2024.
1:00:48 He threw Garrett the Clue at one point
1:00:51 and man alive, they just keep getting
1:00:53 lumber on ball. Another single.
1:00:56 >> [cheering]
1:00:57 >> D-Mac
1:00:59 got put on the sidelines right before
1:01:00 the Little Rock series.
1:01:02 And since then he's really found his
1:01:04 groove. Done a nice job swinging the
1:01:06 [music] bat here for Val Perez's group
1:01:08 hitting well over 300 now, 333 to be
1:01:10 exact and that's going to continue to go
1:01:11 up as Mason Maxwell steps in. If there's
1:01:14 anybody that Firefighter fans should be
1:01:16 bragging about, it's this guy right
1:01:17 here. The 11th round pick for the Fire
1:01:20 and Flames in the last Banana Ball
1:01:22 Player Draft last November. He's hitting
1:01:24 355,
1:01:25 11 hits and in four of his last six
1:01:28 contests on the world tour he has at
1:01:29 least two hits and hit his first homer
1:01:31 in Albuquerque.
1:01:34 He has been unbelievable for this team.
1:01:36 In a pick where there were some people
1:01:38 doubting him, maybe even including some
1:01:40 people in the organization. Boy, he has
1:01:43 absolutely proven everybody wrong. Has
1:01:45 moved full-time to first base as he
1:01:46 sends that one into the streets of
1:01:48 Greenville for a 2-2 count.
1:01:51 Moving full-time to first base is not an
1:01:53 easy thing to do. Just watch Moneyball
1:01:55 to find that one out. And he's turning
1:01:56 trick plays. He's got 10 [music] on the
1:01:58 year as that one moves just inside 3-2
1:02:00 count. Now a ball four sprint is on the
1:02:02 table. D-Mac maybe not the quickest of
1:02:04 feet for the Fire and Flames, but if he
1:02:06 gets a ball four sprint, [music] likely
1:02:08 going to get on over to third.
1:02:10 But instead, Mason Bobby La DAY BEHIND
1:02:12 THE BACK. JAYLEN VASQUEZ WITH THE BARE
1:02:15 HAND.
1:02:19 IT JUST GOES DOWN AS ONE TRICK PLAY, BUT
1:02:21 THAT WAS SICK
1:02:23 ON THE DOUBLE PLAY.
1:02:25 How in the world did he keep his foot on
1:02:27 the bag?
1:02:29 My goodness, Bobby La Day behind the
1:02:32 back, but Jaylen Vasquez might have
1:02:34 turned
1:02:35 the more impressive play there.
1:02:37 Catching it with a bare hand and then
1:02:38 finding a way
1:02:40 to get the out over to first.
1:02:44 The fielding talent in this league is
1:02:46 impeccable. [music]
1:02:47 There's Noah Bridges really trying to
1:02:49 hack that one out of this park. He will
1:02:50 not do it there. Quickly down 0-2.
1:02:58 Firefighters [music] with seven singles
1:03:01 here.
1:03:02 David Griffin all right between the
1:03:04 legs. Beautiful job from the starting
1:03:06 pitcher to get a trick play. It's now
1:03:08 their third. They take a quick 3-2 lead
1:03:10 in the trick play column.
1:03:12 And the Firefighters and Clowns still
1:03:14 scoreless here in Greenville.
1:03:18 Jacob, not only do we have Jacob, but we
1:03:20 have Firefighters pitcher Jared
1:03:22 Donaldson up in the suite. He is going
1:03:24 to throw a bunch of water balloons into
1:03:27 Jacob's pants. But you know what? Let's
1:03:30 make this a competition. Jared, who you
1:03:31 got over there? Yo, yo, YO, WHAT'S UP,
1:03:33 GUYS? I GOT HEART WILLY AND WE GOT
1:03:36 VIDEOS THERE AND WE READY TO BEAT Y'ALL.
1:03:38 SO LET'S GO.
1:03:39 They got nothing on us, Jacob. Whoever
1:03:41 can catch more water balloons in their
1:03:43 pants is the winner. ON YOUR MARK, GET
1:03:45 SET, GO! COME ON. CATCH IT. COME ON.
1:03:48 COME ON.
1:03:49 THAT'S ONE.
1:03:51 TWO.
1:03:52 THREE.
1:03:55 >> [screaming]
1:03:55 >> FOUR.
1:03:56 COME ON.
1:03:57 LET'S GO.
1:03:59 JACOB IS ON FIRE RIGHT NOW. OH, NO.
1:04:03 How many IS THAT?
1:04:04 FIVE.
1:04:07 FIVE.
1:04:10 >> [music]
1:04:11 >> SIX. SEVEN.
1:04:14 He's just letting them rip right now.
1:04:15 Eight.
1:04:18 Come on.
1:04:20 Nine.
1:04:21 10.
1:04:22 11.
1:04:23 Come on.
1:04:24 And five, four, three, two, one. STOP
1:04:30 WETTING YOUR PANTS.
1:04:33 Please stop.
1:04:35 All right, Jacob's pants are wet, but
1:04:38 you know what? Jared, how'd you do over
1:04:40 there? MAN, WE GOT 15. HOW MANY YOU GOT?
1:04:44 15, that's not too bad, but Jacob and
1:04:46 Jared over here GOT 23.
1:04:50 >> [cheering]
1:04:52 >> LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THAT WAS wetting
1:04:54 your pants.
1:04:58 Ladies and gentlemen, at the plate for
1:05:00 the Clowns, a North Greenville
1:05:03 University alumnus, number two, JAYLEN
1:05:07 VASQUEZ.
1:05:09 >> [cheering]
1:05:09 >> BOOM, AND WE'RE back playing
1:05:11 Vasquez HOT SHOT. E.J. BETWEEN THE LEGS
1:05:14 and he'll do it himself.
1:05:16 No trick play though, the ball never
1:05:18 transferred hands.
1:05:22 E.J. trying his best. It was a tough one
1:05:24 either either way. It was a nice job by
1:05:26 him to get the out. Already we're going
1:05:28 through the second trip in the order.
1:05:37 Joe Gray Jr. earned himself a ball four
1:05:39 sprint
1:05:41 in his first played appearance.
1:05:43 Dalton Cornett trying his darnedest to
1:05:45 get that one framed up. Won't do the
1:05:47 job. By the way, if you're watching a
1:05:49 lot of Banana Ball right now, we're the
1:05:50 first game up, but we are not the first
1:05:52 game or not the only game today, excuse
1:05:54 me, as Joe Gray
1:05:55 high into the sky. Dalton Cornett
1:05:57 chasing. Do the FANS HAVE A CHANCE? NO.
1:06:02 I SAW PEOPLE GETTING OUT OF THE way of
1:06:03 that.
1:06:04 We're going to have to hold him
1:06:05 accountable.
1:06:06 But I need Reggie Horton to get down
1:06:08 here from New York's New York City and
1:06:10 uh
1:06:11 start holding people accountable.
1:06:13 Off the shoulder.
1:06:16 Need him to give 110% locked in, tapped
1:06:18 in.
1:06:26 We were saying in the first inning Joe
1:06:28 Gray Jr. is a true cowboy. [music]
1:06:30 Again, maybe a little surprised he
1:06:31 wasn't with the Texas Tailgaters given
1:06:33 the fact this dude's an actual rodeo guy
1:06:34 and boy he lassos that one into left
1:06:36 field a base knock.
1:06:39 So his first two played appearances have
1:06:41 been
1:06:42 darn good. Ball four sprint and a
1:06:44 single.
1:06:47 Hey, JBJ.
1:06:58 >> [music]
1:07:19 [music]
1:07:22 [singing]
1:07:24 [screaming]
1:07:28 [music]
1:07:42 [music]
1:07:50 [music]
1:07:58 >> Now batting, number 19, Jackie Bradley
1:08:01 Jr.
1:08:03 >> Jackie Bradley Jr.
1:08:05 with his league leading 18 hits
1:08:09 stepping on in.
1:08:11 Struck out his first played appearance
1:08:13 in his return back to Greenville.
1:08:17 See with a runner on if he can do
1:08:18 something a little more damaging. Joe
1:08:20 Gray Jr. off for second. Throw into the
1:08:22 dirt and that one will not be in time at
1:08:23 all.
1:08:25 Mr. Gray is on to second with one
1:08:27 [music] out.
1:08:28 Both teams being aggressive. Here we saw
1:08:30 a hit and run situation for the
1:08:31 Firefighters and they worked that to
1:08:32 perfection.
1:08:34 Already a steal of first base applied
1:08:36 for Joe Gray.
1:08:38 Let me land the plane I was flying
1:08:39 earlier as B Webb goes again low.
1:08:43 We are not the only game going right
1:08:44 now. The Savannah Bananas and Party
1:08:46 Animals at Yankee Stadium just about to
1:08:48 throw the first pitch here in a few
1:08:49 moments. And then in Amarillo in just
1:08:51 about 30 minutes the Texas Tailgaters
1:08:53 and the Loco Beach Coconuts about to do
1:08:55 some throwing [music] down in the Lone
1:08:57 Star State.
1:08:58 Inside B Webb wanted it. It's a 3-0
1:09:00 count.
1:09:05 Going to have to find something here.
1:09:08 Mason Maxwell is doing a dance.
1:09:14 Rightfully so, he's got some rhythm and
1:09:15 that one is in there for a strike.
1:09:19 Both teams scoring three runs in the top
1:09:21 of the top and bottom of the first,
1:09:22 excuse me, then a clean second.
1:09:25 Clowns threatening here
1:09:27 in the third is Jackie Bradley Jr. did
1:09:30 not like his decision to swing at that
1:09:31 one.
1:09:33 B Webb works it full. Ball [music] four
1:09:35 sprints scores Joe Gray.
1:09:37 Anything else it's potential that
1:09:39 firefighters get out and it's a ball
1:09:41 four sprints and it was right there.
1:09:44 Bradford Webb really wanting it.
1:09:47 But Andrew Gerard says no thank you and
1:09:49 so it's an RBI ball four sprint and Joe
1:09:51 Gray's around to score again.
1:09:58 Oh, yeah.
1:10:01 Break out the old school classics here.
1:10:14 >> [music]
1:10:26 [music]
1:10:36 >> I don't see how you can hate from
1:10:37 outside the door.
1:10:38 The gap man.
1:10:39 >> Next up number seven.
1:10:40 >> Making an appearance in Banana Ball.
1:10:44 Outstanding.
1:10:47 Girl, you've got me up.
1:10:50 Exciting.
1:10:52 Makes me want to shout.
1:10:54 Bobby La Day made a lot of people want
1:10:55 to shout in the first inning an RBI
1:10:57 double.
1:11:00 Dropped a bomb on the firefighters which
1:11:02 was then followed by another one from
1:11:04 Nico Hoerner that one a two run home
1:11:07 run. B Webb again having to try to get
1:11:10 out of some danger.
1:11:13 1-1 count. This is a guy who when he
1:11:15 figures his stuff out and he gets
1:11:16 confident in himself and he knows what
1:11:18 he's throwing
1:11:20 he becomes unhittable. It's the reason
1:11:21 why he became the ace of the Fire and
1:11:23 Flames last year and that's a good
1:11:24 pitch.
1:11:25 Bobby La Day offers at it and misses
1:11:27 everything.
1:11:29 It's the reason why they started him
1:11:30 game one of the World Tour semi-finals
1:11:32 and he delivered. That one fouled back.
1:11:34 Six scoreless innings four strikeouts
1:11:37 against the Savannah Bananas a team that
1:11:39 had beaten the Firefighters last year
1:11:41 all but three times
1:11:43 on the World Tour.
1:11:52 La Day not offering there. He would have
1:11:53 needed an oar to try to hit that one.
1:11:56 Count back 2-2.
1:12:00 B Webb's got a nasty [music] cutter as
1:12:01 well that when it's
1:12:03 right where it needs to be it's just so
1:12:05 tough
1:12:06 to find as La Day high in the sky Zach
1:12:09 Trimble.
1:12:11 The magic man underneath trick play
1:12:13 OPPORTUNITY AND HE GETS IT WITH THE TICK
1:12:14 DRILL. JBJ will move over to second
1:12:17 because of that but it is the third
1:12:18 trick play for the firefighters and they
1:12:19 do need that to try and deny that
1:12:21 equalizer point to the clowns.
1:12:25 It's a smoke
1:12:26 on the board in the TPOs
1:12:29 and now we're shaking mullets.
1:12:31 Everybody shaking mullets. Bradford
1:12:34 Webb, Joe Lidle, Blake O'Hare in the
1:12:35 booth.
1:12:37 Ashley Tosh
1:12:39 over operating the board. We're all just
1:12:41 having fun shaking our mullets for Joe
1:12:43 Lidle.
1:12:46 Again one of the firefighters that was
1:12:47 here for that magical 2024 win
1:12:50 for the Fire and Flames in round one of
1:12:52 showdowns against the Party Animals.
1:13:01 That's a laser beam OUT TO RIGHT FIELD.
1:13:03 ZACH LOOKS AT THAT ONE GO OFF THE WALL.
1:13:05 IT'LL BE AN RBI. JACKIE BRADLEY JR. IN A
1:13:09 DOUBLE for Joe Lidle and the Fire and
1:13:11 Flames giving up damage again. They
1:13:13 cannot extinguish the circus right now.
1:13:19 Joe Lidle
1:13:21 doing damage against [music] his old
1:13:22 team.
1:13:25 Malachi Mitchell Flash the kid on a
1:13:27 second base designated runner and Nico
1:13:29 Hoerner
1:13:30 who had a two run homer in his first
1:13:32 appearance looks at one going into the
1:13:34 dirt as Flash races towards third goes
1:13:37 around it just for a hair and then goes
1:13:39 back.
1:13:57 B Webb really got to find some way out
1:13:58 of danger here as he goes back inside.
1:14:03 One of the things he's trying to go back
1:14:04 to more of a relaxed wrist rest when
1:14:07 he's going into his windup. It's what
1:14:09 he's done the last couple of years it's
1:14:11 really led to a lot of success here in
1:14:13 Banana Ball as he loads that one in
1:14:14 there for a strike.
1:14:16 He told me a couple of days ago there's
1:14:17 been some times where it's just you're
1:14:19 thinking sometimes too much [music] on
1:14:20 what you got to do and sometimes you
1:14:22 just got to throw.
1:14:23 That's when he's been the most
1:14:24 successful. Look at that.
1:14:26 Nice little mover fools Nico Hoerner and
1:14:28 he works [music] it back to a 2-2 count.
1:14:33 Throwing it into the dirt now.
1:14:35 3-2 count ball four [music] sprints
1:14:36 going to walk in the third run of the
1:14:39 inning and the sixth run of the game for
1:14:40 the clowns. Really needs something to go
1:14:42 his way and a pop up might just do the
1:14:45 job. Zach Trimble racing in. Tyner
1:14:47 Hughes there as well. [music] Zach just
1:14:49 pulls it in the old fashioned way. Might
1:14:51 have needed a trick play there
1:14:53 but he'll get the third out. But two
1:14:55 more runs come across for the
1:14:56 Indianapolis Clowns. Firefighters
1:14:57 [music] got their work cut out for them.
1:14:59 Let's send it on down to Bananas Foster
1:15:01 with Casey Barker.
1:15:04 >> [music]
1:15:09 >> Across the United States there are over
1:15:12 400,000 children and teens in foster
1:15:15 care without a permanent home. To raise
1:15:17 awareness and support this community we
1:15:19 created Bananas Foster the official
1:15:22 nonprofit of Banana Ball. Our
1:15:24 organization is dedicated to celebrating
1:15:26 those in the foster care community while
1:15:28 educating and inspiring others to get
1:15:30 involved. Tonight we are celebrating the
1:15:33 Murphy family. Jenna and Carter began
1:15:36 their foster care journey four years ago
1:15:39 by welcoming in a set of brothers
1:15:41 followed by another sibling set just six
1:15:43 months later. Once reunification was no
1:15:46 longer an option they pursued adoption
1:15:48 to keep the siblings together. Since
1:15:51 2022 they have welcomed all of the
1:15:54 children from the other families in as
1:15:57 well as adopted all four long-term
1:16:00 kiddos within their home. Fans please
1:16:03 help us celebrate this incredible family
1:16:05 for making a difference right here in
1:16:07 your community.
1:16:10 >> [applause and cheering]
1:16:30 [cheering]
1:16:34 >> This is what Banana Ball is truly all
1:16:37 about.
1:16:39 The great folks here at Bananas Foster
1:16:41 doing [music] everything they can to
1:16:42 help out so many great people
1:16:44 in the foster care community. Text bunch
1:16:46 to 50155
1:16:47 to help out so many families
1:16:50 that have been impacted by the foster
1:16:51 care community.
1:16:53 Montgomery was the last time the first
1:16:55 time really that these two teams played
1:16:57 and they scored and hit a lot.
1:17:01 Noah Bridges home run in the first game.
1:17:05 They just went they went monster shots
1:17:07 too.
1:17:08 Tiny
1:17:09 big run here.
1:17:11 That completed a four run comeback
1:17:14 >> [music]
1:17:15 >> over the Indianapolis Clowns. Jaylen
1:17:16 Vasquez walk-off winner
1:17:19 on night one and then night two they
1:17:21 were just as good. It was a nine run
1:17:23 inning for the Fire and Flames.
1:17:26 All in total on March 20th or 21st and
1:17:29 22nd they combined for 58 runs 52 hits
1:17:33 and the Firefighters broke a single game
1:17:35 Banana Ball record
1:17:37 with 22 runs in a game. [music] That was
1:17:40 on night two in Montgomery at the
1:17:42 Riverwalk. Now
1:17:44 the one pitcher who seemed to have the
1:17:46 number of anybody
1:17:48 on those couple of days is the man who
1:17:50 joins us on the mic in the mound right
1:17:52 now David Griffin. Yeah. Best starting
1:17:55 pitchers in the sport. David Griffin
1:17:57 WELCOME TO THE MIC DUB CLUB SIR. HEY,
1:18:00 thanks for having me. How you feeling
1:18:01 down there?
1:18:01 >> [music]
1:18:02 >> Feeling good.
1:18:04 Floats one up. Tyner Hughes swinging.
1:18:06 Not by the poker table.
1:18:08 It will not be on the poker table. Eli
1:18:10 Peyton swinging and sliding
1:18:13 into the fences. David Griffin against
1:18:14 the Firefighters three innings scoreless
1:18:16 Banana Ball just one hit and a ball four
1:18:18 sprints and guess what five strikeouts.
1:18:21 And maybe the coolest play you've had in
1:18:23 Banana Ball is you load one up that goes
1:18:25 into the dirt.
1:18:27 That comebacker is still one I think
1:18:28 about to this day David.
1:18:32 Tiny
1:18:34 that's foul.
1:18:35 I know hey I'll tell you what my dad's a
1:18:37 was [music] a hockey goalie growing up
1:18:38 played in college. So all the goalie
1:18:41 training I can't take credit for that.
1:18:43 What did he say when you texted him
1:18:45 about it? About time you did something
1:18:47 cool. He was at the game. Was he really?
1:18:49 Yeah so I pointed him in left field. Him
1:18:51 and my mom made the trip out.
1:18:52 >> That's incredible. So what you're
1:18:53 [music] saying is that you were playing
1:18:54 the wrong sport. You should have been a
1:18:55 goalie. Oh no absolutely not. I was
1:18:57 doing snow angels on the ice. How insane
1:18:59 is your father then cuz that's like a
1:19:00 psychotic position to play in sports as
1:19:02 Tyner rips that one. Eli Peyton through
1:19:05 THE LEGS OVER TO CARREL PRIME BEHIND THE
1:19:07 BACK FOR A DOUBLE trick play.
1:19:10 Hey that's two. That is two. That is
1:19:12 two. Hey our firefighter of the night is
1:19:13 coming up.
1:19:20 That's going to be into the plate is our
1:19:22 firefighter of the night, Lieutenant
1:19:23 Frankie Jeter.
1:19:25 >> [applause]
1:19:26 >> Frankie began his career in 1991 at the
1:19:29 age of 19 and has proudly served your
1:19:32 community at the Greenville City Fire
1:19:34 Department for 35 years.
1:19:38 >> [cheering]
1:19:39 >> Fans, please make some noise for our
1:19:41 FIREFIGHTER OF THE NIGHT,
1:19:43 Lieutenant Frankie Jeter.
1:19:47 >> [applause]
1:19:47 >> A last name that fits a baseball park
1:19:50 and service that fits the firefighters.
1:19:52 A salute to to Lieutenant Frankie Jeter
1:19:55 of the Greenville Fire Department.
1:19:56 David, you were just saying your
1:19:57 grandfather is a firefighter.
1:20:05 There it is. David, you were just
1:20:07 talking about it. Your grandfather a
1:20:09 firefighter. [music] Hold on.
1:20:10 3-2-2.
1:20:14 Say it out loud.
1:20:29 Well, that's a screamer and it's foul.
1:20:32 David Griffin, did you do anything like
1:20:34 3-2-2s in your indie ball or pro ball
1:20:37 career? No, absolutely not. But hey,
1:20:39 shout out to Michael Jackson. I played
1:20:40 in Gary for 2 years, so It's a very good
1:20:43 point.
1:20:47 1-1 count to DC3 right back up the
1:20:49 middle.
1:20:49 >> You got to be kidding Jesus. Come on
1:20:50 now. Chance for JBJ, you bet. Not a
1:20:53 trick play, but that's just as
1:20:54 impressive getting out there.
1:20:56 David Griffin, what is it like to have a
1:20:58 World Series champion as your teammate?
1:21:00 Oh, it's fantastic. I mean, I grew up in
1:21:02 Boston, so I idolized Jackie watching
1:21:04 him. There was times where I was in the
1:21:05 center field bleachers in college with
1:21:07 my buddies and that guy was patrolling
1:21:08 center field.
1:21:10 Do you tell him any stories of you being
1:21:11 a fan? Oh, yeah, he knows. Did you meet
1:21:14 him when YOU WERE A FAN? NO, I wish.
1:21:16 >> you go.
1:21:17 Inside on Logan Lacey who is
1:21:19 >> bit. the most hit by pitch batter in the
1:21:21 Firefighters lineup, so
1:21:25 Honestly, I thought it was Peanut cuz I
1:21:27 drilled him last time.
1:21:28 >> [laughter]
1:21:28 >> There you go. Did you drill him in my
1:21:30 memory? I don't remember that. Oh, yeah.
1:21:32 So, it's three base runners then.
1:21:36 What has the first couple of months for
1:21:38 you in Banana Ball been like? You
1:21:40 pitched in a major league park, you've
1:21:41 been in the open. What is this journey
1:21:43 been like for you, David?
1:21:45 Oh, it's been crazy. It's been an
1:21:46 unbelievable experience.
1:21:49 Get to have fun with it, put smiles on
1:21:51 people's faces and put on a show.
1:21:53 >> You guys had one of the coolest comeback
1:21:55 stories a couple of weekends ago in
1:21:56 Charleston. 2-2 count. I Into the dirt.
1:21:59 Lacey's going for first.
1:22:01 And they'll stand up easily with a steal
1:22:03 of first.
1:22:07 You're so good at this, but it can be
1:22:09 tough to be a pitcher sometimes in the
1:22:10 sport, can't it? Oh, here's the thing. I
1:22:12 want to get mad, but I've been hanging
1:22:13 my breaking ball, so if I yank it, I
1:22:14 yank it.
1:22:16 Love that attitude. Kind of is what it
1:22:18 is sometimes.
1:22:19 Yeah.
1:22:21 Sometimes a blind squirrel finds a nut.
1:22:22 By the way, David Griffin has played in
1:22:24 a load of different leagues.
1:22:26 From an old-timers league at some point
1:22:27 where you were pitching with guys like
1:22:29 Tim Wakefield. Oh, yeah. Rest in peace.
1:22:31 Rest in peace to the legend. That had to
1:22:33 have been
1:22:34 some like pinch-me moments, right?
1:22:38 It's a heck of a throw down by Joe
1:22:39 Lidle. The masked umpire says we're all
1:22:41 set.
1:22:43 There had to be some pinch-me moments
1:22:45 though when you're pitching with guys
1:22:47 like that, some of the legends of the
1:22:48 sport.
1:22:50 Ah, they're not chasing. All right.
1:22:54 But yeah, no, I mean, to play Pedro,
1:22:55 that was really cool. Stuff like that.
1:22:58 I'm about to groove this middle middle.
1:23:04 Psych. I was about to say, YOU FOOLED
1:23:05 ME.
1:23:07 I was waiting. I was about to shout to
1:23:08 EJ, middle.
1:23:13 That's a strike. And there's a strike.
1:23:16 Safe harbor rule will ensure that EJ
1:23:18 does not get a second strike on him.
1:23:19 Remember one of the rules. Step out of
1:23:21 the batter's box, it's a strike.
1:23:23 Clowns have had that for them in the
1:23:25 form of Matt Davidson.
1:23:27 EJ right back up the middle.
1:23:29 Reminiscent of what we saw in
1:23:31 Montgomery, but that time
1:23:32 >> [music]
1:23:33 >> just a little out of the range of David
1:23:34 Griffin. Hey, as long as they don't walk
1:23:36 and I'm cool with it.
1:23:37 That's correct.
1:23:45 Want to tell you about the work ethic of
1:23:46 a guy like Mr. Griffin here. He wasn't
1:23:49 drafted in the major leagues. This dude
1:23:51 worked himself through indie ball into
1:23:53 an opportunity with the New York Mets
1:23:54 organization. That is the heart of this
1:23:57 guy. It's a hockey mentality really.
1:23:58 It's that Massachusetts vibe in you.
1:24:01 Armando, chopper.
1:24:03 Prime in between the legs, David Griffin
1:24:05 out number three and the clowns get a
1:24:07 point. OH MY GOODNESS, DAVID. Little
1:24:09 handspring action.
1:24:11 Got it. THAT WAS SICK. HEY, DAVID,
1:24:13 thanks for doing this, brother.
1:24:14 Appreciate you. Appreciate y'all. Hey,
1:24:16 we'll talk soon here. David Griffin wins
1:24:19 the first point of the evening FOR THE
1:24:20 INDIANAPOLIS CLOWNS.
1:24:22 LET'S get a hold of him on the field.
1:24:27 I think I got to pitch mic'd up.
1:24:30 I think I got to pitch mic'd up at this
1:24:31 point.
1:24:31 And you know what? All we want to do at
1:24:33 the end of those days is just go home.
1:24:35 Well, we got two couples right here are
1:24:36 going to show you just how. These two
1:24:38 fellas, Dylan and Dylan, are going to
1:24:39 race all the way to first. And once they
1:24:41 get to first, they're going to smooch
1:24:42 their ladies. They're going to take
1:24:43 their ladies and race all the way to
1:24:45 second. And then they're going to pick
1:24:46 up their ladies, carry them from second
1:24:47 to third, and then the ladies are going
1:24:49 to bring it on home and carry the fellas
1:24:51 on into the bed. All right, we like to
1:24:53 call this one getting home. Fellas, are
1:24:56 you ready?
1:24:58 On your mark. Get set. Go.
1:25:01 And they're off, ladies and gentlemen.
1:25:03 Dylan and Dylan is getting tight. It's
1:25:04 tight.
1:25:06 Oh, and there's a smooch for the ages.
1:25:08 Oh, Dylan wants to give it up a little
1:25:09 more. He's giving up a head start all
1:25:11 the way to second. Here we go, ladies
1:25:13 and gentlemen.
1:25:14 And here she's on his back. Dylan, come
1:25:16 on, take us TO THIRD. COME ON, BRING US
1:25:17 ALL HOME.
1:25:20 OH, ladies and gentlemen, it's not even
1:25:22 close.
1:25:24 Oh, come on. Here we go. SWITCHING IT
1:25:26 UP. COME ON, ladies and ladies and
1:25:28 gentlemen, come on, Dylan. Bring it on
1:25:30 home.
1:25:31 Bring it on. Come on.
1:25:35 OH.
1:25:35 >> [cheering]
1:25:36 >> LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, YOUR winners
1:25:39 getting home.
1:25:45 Well, that looked like it could really
1:25:46 hurt.
1:25:48 Throwing
1:25:50 a potential significant other onto an
1:25:52 air mattress
1:25:53 might not feel so comfy.
1:25:57 We get home. It's a one-nothing game in
1:25:59 favor of the Indianapolis Clowns as
1:26:01 Bradford Webb goes out
1:26:02 for his fourth inning of work here. He's
1:26:04 given up five runs.
1:26:07 But he's kept the Firefighters in it,
1:26:09 but so have the offense. They really
1:26:11 need something to go their way here.
1:26:13 The trick plays right now are heavily in
1:26:16 favor
1:26:17 of the Indianapolis Clowns.
1:26:25 It's a 6-3 count. Some soft contact
1:26:28 would do the Firefighters wonder.
1:26:32 B. Webb against the
1:26:34 absolute veteran and Correlle Prime and
1:26:37 that's foul just by an inch.
1:26:53 Prime's got a home run to his count this
1:26:55 year.
1:26:56 And
1:26:57 Joe, IT'S FOUL JUST BY A nat's nose.
1:27:03 He is flirting with that line.
1:27:08 Let's take a look at this.
1:27:11 Oh, yeah.
1:27:14 It's a good call there by our left field
1:27:16 umpire, Toby Sol.
1:27:20 John Crosser
1:27:22 is over at third base tonight. He put
1:27:24 the hands up immediately.
1:27:27 So, what could have been centimeters
1:27:28 away from a hit two times in a row is
1:27:30 now an 0-2 count and a foul again.
1:27:44 Right to Peanut. Couldn't get a trick
1:27:46 play on it. Really wanted it.
1:27:49 Tried to go between the legs after the
1:27:50 catch. That won't work, Nut.
1:27:53 But a great swing from Prime, just
1:27:55 better defense. Right to Peanut.
1:27:57 And out number one recorded.
1:27:59 So, hello, Mr. Chris Burgess.
1:28:04 This is a guy who, number one, is taking
1:28:06 after Dan Obers with the split jersey
1:28:07 action here.
1:28:09 But number two has been mighty effective
1:28:11 with the bat in his hands for the
1:28:12 Clowns. Started the season we got to
1:28:14 Montgomery, he was hitting well above
1:28:15 .500. It's calmed down now to just a
1:28:17 .333 healthy average.
1:28:20 >> [cheering]
1:28:21 >> But a .444 on-base percentage shows he
1:28:24 does have a patient AB.
1:28:26 Hit by a couple of pitches and some
1:28:28 ball four sprints [music] to the count
1:28:29 of four of them bad boys.
1:28:31 Only two strikeouts is where Excuse me,
1:28:33 four strikeouts, so basically breaking
1:28:35 even there.
1:28:45 B. Webb going into the dirt, making it a
1:28:47 2-2 count.
1:28:49 >> [music]
1:28:50 >> Burgess was a former unsigned or
1:28:52 undrafted free agent signee with the
1:28:54 Baltimore [music] Orioles in 2019.
1:28:58 Perhaps he might have crossed paths with
1:28:59 our Lamar Sparks who was also a
1:29:01 Baltimore Orioles draft pick in 2017.
1:29:05 He's got a twin brother named Britton.
1:29:07 He was previously
1:29:09 uh drafted by the Texas Rangers in 2016
1:29:13 and then the New York Yankees. Into the
1:29:14 seats. Anybody want a shot at that one?
1:29:19 Play on.
1:29:23 Britton actually signed with the Atlanta
1:29:24 Braves the same day that Chris got his
1:29:26 deal with the Baltimore Orioles.
1:29:28 See, twins will do everything together.
1:29:31 But that time B Webb gets him a
1:29:32 strikeout, give the salute and a point
1:29:34 to the sky.
1:29:35 Big one for that toothpick beauty out of
1:29:38 Charlotte Courthouse, Virginia.
1:29:42 Sometimes, man, you just need that high
1:29:44 heater. Which Savannah Webb was so
1:29:46 successful at last week in the Banana
1:29:48 Ball Open when he had four punchouts.
1:29:52 And B Webb
1:29:53 all of a sudden you could see maybe in
1:29:54 this inning starting to find a little
1:29:56 confidence in that high fastball.
1:29:58 Makes Chris Burgess have to offer and he
1:30:00 misses.
1:30:02 Eli [cheering] Peyton missed on the
1:30:03 first pitch, does not there.
1:30:07 Talked to this guy on the opening panel
1:30:09 of the Banana Land at Sea Cruise.
1:30:12 Well-spoken guy.
1:30:14 Hit by like 38 pitches at Grand Canyon
1:30:17 University.
1:30:18 So, to say he will lean in is an
1:30:20 understatement.
1:30:21 Had like the record for the school at
1:30:22 some point.
1:30:25 Pain is gain, isn't it?
1:30:27 Popped up Logan Lacey. Running for all
1:30:29 he's worth. CAN DC3 FIND IT? OH, HE
1:30:32 almost ran right into Lacey.
1:30:35 Maybe a little lack of communication.
1:30:36 He's smiling at Lacey.
1:30:40 He's asking, I was supposed to get that
1:30:42 one, man. Take a look at the replay.
1:30:45 At the last second Lacey manages to get
1:30:47 out of the way of that one.
1:30:50 Oh, Logan Lacey. Well, live to fight
1:30:52 another day.
1:30:58 The Mr. Brightside of that one is it's a
1:30:59 one-two count for the Firefighters,
1:31:01 Bradford Webb.
1:31:03 Got a couple of strikeouts. MAKE IT
1:31:05 THREE.
1:31:06 And what a response for the All-Star.
1:31:09 AFTER GIVING UP FIVE runs in the first
1:31:11 three innings, he comes back
1:31:14 and gets a couple of strikeouts in the
1:31:16 fourth inning. Clean sheet for B Webb.
1:31:18 And hey everybody,
1:31:20 would you like to do a a little a little
1:31:22 hey baby? Cuz we're about to do it in
1:31:24 Greenville. CHAT, GET ON UP.
1:31:27 PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR BECAUSE RIGHT
1:31:29 NOW IT'S TIME FOR A LITTLE HEY BABY.
1:31:36 You better be clapping those hands.
1:31:38 >> [applause]
1:31:44 >> You're ready to wave them.
1:31:46 >> [applause]
1:31:58 >> Do it, Greenville.
1:32:01 >> [applause]
1:32:12 >> Time to get some step in. Chat, what's
1:32:14 up?
1:32:22 Blake, I'll let you wear THE FIRE JACKET
1:32:23 IF YOU WANT IT.
1:32:28 WE'RE JOSE, HERE WE GO.
1:32:35 >> [screaming]
1:32:37 >> GETTING MY CARDIO IN. WONDER IF I'M ON
1:32:39 THE VIDEO BOARD. NO, NOT YET. SO, the
1:32:41 time when you guys here on the
1:32:42 broadcast.
1:32:59 Blake O'Hair, Teddy Downer
1:33:02 didn't want to do this with us.
1:33:03 >> [music]
1:33:05 >> Ridiculous.
1:33:09 I'm hurting right now, man.
1:33:11 Hurt it quite a bit.
1:33:12 But I'm going to You know what? I'm
1:33:13 going to rally.
1:33:15 I'm going to rally here. [music]
1:33:19 How does Jesse do this all the time,
1:33:20 man?
1:33:22 He does this everywhere. He's been doing
1:33:23 it for like 18 years.
1:33:26 It might be like the marathon he runs
1:33:27 every day or something.
1:33:29 I don't know. All right, I'm back.
1:33:30 [music] We're good to go.
1:33:32 Probably should turn the lights off
1:33:33 here.
1:33:39 If Gimme Gimme Gimme is playing, it must
1:33:41 mean one thing.
1:33:42 My friend Keon Green is at the plate.
1:33:45 What a beautiful slider from David
1:33:47 Griffin works right from the
1:33:49 lead shoulder into the strike zone.
1:33:52 Fools you anytime.
1:33:54 Peanut swinging over that one.
1:33:57 Keon Green extending his hit streak to
1:33:59 eight straight games on the World Tour.
1:34:04 He is able to get a good eye on that
1:34:05 one. The guy just gets on base. He's
1:34:08 grinning. He doesn't have to swing for
1:34:10 power to be effective. Firefighters just
1:34:12 need a run here to equalize the game,
1:34:13 but boy, that won't do.
1:34:17 Surprisingly enough, that is the first
1:34:19 strikeout of the game for David Griffin.
1:34:22 It comes in the fourth inning.
1:34:25 Lamar Sparks sitting one to the heavens
1:34:27 above in his first AB after dancing to
1:34:29 Beat It
1:34:31 by young Michael Jackson. I shouldn't
1:34:32 say young now, he's dead.
1:34:34 That took a little turn there. He's got
1:34:36 a movie now, though. Did you know that?
1:34:39 Michael
1:34:40 Heard the reviews were horrible.
1:34:42 I need to go see it myself.
1:34:44 Lamar wanted that one bad. This is the
1:34:47 guy who hit a home run in Albuquerque
1:34:49 that I don't think has landed yet. Might
1:34:51 be soaring above the comets and stars
1:34:53 still.
1:34:55 He got the eye on the bender there, but
1:34:56 that slider is just a thing of beauty
1:34:59 from David Griffin.
1:35:02 You watch batting practice, though,
1:35:03 between Lamar
1:35:05 and Darian McDowell.
1:35:07 Man, it was a sight to behold. This
1:35:09 David wanted that one bad.
1:35:11 Might have a point.
1:35:14 But Andrew Gerard said nope.
1:35:19 But you know what? He'll get it there.
1:35:20 Back-to-back K's swinging for David
1:35:23 Griffin.
1:35:26 And one of the top pitchers starting on
1:35:28 the bump we have in this sport
1:35:31 is finding his groove.
1:35:35 I don't know why Gage Worley just threw
1:35:36 a flag.
1:35:38 He was an earth earlier. And by the way,
1:35:41 he proved that the earth is round in
1:35:43 that intro for Jackie Bradley Jr. IS JOE
1:35:46 GRAY ON THE TIP DRILL? HE DROPPED IT.
1:35:50 >> [cheering]
1:35:51 >> HE ALMOST SWATTED at it like it was a
1:35:53 tennis racket.
1:35:55 And Dakota McFadden's going to get all
1:35:57 the way to second on that.
1:35:59 And the Fire and Flames are threatening
1:36:01 with two away. A mistake in the field
1:36:04 might be a tough one to overcome.
1:36:13 So, now Mason Maxwell.
1:36:16 Could he have something in store for us
1:36:17 here?
1:36:19 Screamer off the end of the bat goes
1:36:21 foul into the backstop. He had the
1:36:23 game-winning hit for the Firefighters
1:36:25 against the Texas Tailgaters in game two
1:36:27 in Scottsdale. Stuck one right by the
1:36:29 outstretched glove of Kyle Martin and
1:36:32 Matt Danford.
1:36:34 And that's all the Fire and Fighters
1:36:35 needed.
1:36:36 He's really shortened his approach up a
1:36:37 little bit as he fouls another one back.
1:36:39 But he's a guy that's been okay
1:36:40 operating in an O2 count. Couple of his
1:36:43 hits, big hits, have come with that.
1:36:46 >> [cheering]
1:36:49 >> Firefighters need it. Mason stays alive.
1:36:53 Kirkland Banks trying to get one behind
1:36:54 the back and wouldn't have gotten it cuz
1:36:55 it's off the net and
1:36:57 and he's not playing.
1:36:59 He might hear it a little bit, though.
1:37:02 Mason sneaks one into the outfield.
1:37:04 Firefighters might win it. D Mac would
1:37:06 have to get the wheels going.
1:37:08 >> [cheering]
1:37:09 >> Mason, did he offer? Yes, he did.
1:37:13 John Crosser punches him out on the
1:37:15 check and a runner gets to second on a
1:37:17 missed trick play. Mason doesn't agree
1:37:19 with it.
1:37:21 Doesn't matter.
1:37:22 Three K's for David Griffin in the
1:37:24 inning. Let's take a look at the replay.
1:37:27 The club head might have gotten just a
1:37:28 hair in front.
1:37:32 It's bang-bang.
1:37:35 That's a tough one for Mason Maxwell,
1:37:37 but it is a strikeout. Three in the
1:37:39 inning
1:37:41 for David Griffin as we get some hits to
1:37:43 show you here and it's been every hit in
1:37:45 the book you could possibly see here for
1:37:47 both of these teams.
1:37:52 Firefighters were down three nothing in
1:37:53 the first inning and then came back with
1:37:55 six singles.
1:38:02 Nico Hoerner sized up the loudest hit so
1:38:04 far today.
1:38:11 Nico took the the mic, too. Michael
1:38:13 Schwartze, I don't let him take the mic
1:38:14 from me again. I know you're down on the
1:38:15 field, you can hear me on that one. As
1:38:17 we get a beautiful shot here of
1:38:19 Greenville, South Carolina, we say hello
1:38:21 to one of the newest additions to the
1:38:23 Indianapolis Clowns, the legendary, and
1:38:26 I do mean legendary, folks, out of
1:38:28 Philadelphia, [music]
1:38:28 Mo'ne Davis. Mo'ne, how are you in the
1:38:31 booth?
1:38:33 Great day. Um, fans are fans are very
1:38:35 loud. And you know, it's it's a great
1:38:38 baseball game, you know, low scoring,
1:38:40 lots of hits, but it's great for the
1:38:42 fans. You have been through a lot here
1:38:44 in your early days so far in Banana
1:38:46 Ball. Got an out in your first
1:38:47 appearance with the Clowns against the
1:38:48 CocoNuts. And then you watched the
1:38:50 Clowns sweep the CocoNuts and get into
1:38:52 the Banana Ball Open with less than a 7%
1:38:54 chance. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
1:38:55 >> How would you describe the first couple
1:38:56 of weekends here in the sport? Um
1:38:59 >> [cheering]
1:39:00 >> it it's as banana as it gets, I should
1:39:02 say. Um, but you know, I like to say at
1:39:04 the time I was a good luck charm along
1:39:06 with Ryan Howard. It was his first time
1:39:07 coaching as well. And you know, we were
1:39:09 putting up hits, just just everything,
1:39:11 doing everything. And then
1:39:13 you know, with Ryan Howard not there we
1:39:14 kind of we lost the bananas in the open
1:39:16 but it's all good. We're we're trying to
1:39:17 get back on path.
1:39:18 >> Hey, you know what?
1:39:19 Anytime you can find a way to get a win
1:39:21 when you're there you just claim it.
1:39:23 >> Yeah, honestly.
1:39:24 And you were in the you were you played
1:39:26 in the game too so. Yeah, true. We can
1:39:28 put that there too. So, Mo'ne Davis in
1:39:30 the booth as the Indianapolis Clowns
1:39:32 lead it one nothing here.
1:39:34 Firefighters and the Clowns living up to
1:39:36 their name of being two teams that can
1:39:38 absolutely smack the ball.
1:39:40 That one goes into
1:39:43 the skies and then in the seats of
1:39:44 Greenville. What has been the biggest
1:39:45 adjustment for you coming from baseball?
1:39:48 You played obviously college softball at
1:39:50 Hampton University. What's been the
1:39:51 biggest adjustment to banana ball?
1:39:54 >> honestly as a pitcher just working fast,
1:39:56 keeping the hitters completely off
1:39:57 balance.
1:39:59 Um you know just getting the ball right
1:40:00 on the mound and just going from there
1:40:02 and knowing what you're going to throw.
1:40:03 So, just the speed of the game.
1:40:05 Right now Bradford Webb has adjusted and
1:40:07 then some. He's got three straight
1:40:09 strike outs going back to the last
1:40:11 inning and all of a sudden the All-Star
1:40:12 very much looks like it. Jaylen Vasquez
1:40:15 coming in. Were you watching when he hit
1:40:17 the wall the game winning home run
1:40:18 against us in Montgomery? No, I wasn't.
1:40:21 I don't know where I was but no I did
1:40:22 not watch that one. I can tell you where
1:40:24 I was.
1:40:26 Down in the dumps cuz the Firefighters
1:40:28 lost but Jaylen Vasquez, North
1:40:30 Greenville player, actually had a game
1:40:32 at Fluor Field. Was supposed to be his
1:40:34 off day but then actually got put in the
1:40:36 game and had a sacrifice fly. So, even
1:40:38 on his off days the guy is productive.
1:40:41 Look at that. EJ into the sky, collects
1:40:44 it for the out.
1:40:46 That has to be the most annoying thing
1:40:47 as a player, isn't it? It it it sucks
1:40:50 honestly. When you especially when you
1:40:51 piece it up and you're like yes, I I I
1:40:53 got a hit and it just yeah, right at a
1:40:56 player.
1:40:57 Just small adjustments though. Can't
1:40:58 can't really complain.
1:41:01 Joe Gray, boy he's had a heck of a game,
1:41:02 hasn't he? Ball four sprint and a single
1:41:04 in his first two plate appearances.
1:41:06 Yeah, I mean I've worked with him
1:41:07 throughout the week. We hit together and
1:41:10 I kind of just tell him just go up there
1:41:11 and swing. You know, you've worked all
1:41:13 your life as a baseball player. You know
1:41:15 what you should do so just go swing, get
1:41:17 out your head and just be Joe Gray.
1:41:19 Who's the craziest teammate you have?
1:41:21 Joe Gray has played shirtless many times
1:41:23 and is an actual cowboy. Fisher
1:41:24 Polidoroff is from the 1920s. Like Joe
1:41:27 Lidle is just Joe Lidle. I don't even
1:41:29 know how to describe him. Who's the
1:41:31 craziest teammate you have here on the
1:41:32 Clowns? Not in a bad way by the way.
1:41:34 >> I would say the most interesting is
1:41:36 definitely Fisher.
1:41:37 Um I feel like he just pulls out facts
1:41:39 from I don't know. Like it's like how do
1:41:41 you know that? Why do you know that? I
1:41:43 definitely say Fisher for sure. The the
1:41:45 amount of instruments he can play number
1:41:47 one is just it's insane. Yeah.
1:41:50 Great kid though. He is a good dude.
1:41:57 I'd also throw in Kobe Robinson. Ooh,
1:41:59 Kobe. Okay.
1:42:00 >> He's he's like one of those like he's
1:42:02 kind of a rage baiter.
1:42:04 But he doesn't like he doesn't like
1:42:05 being rage baited back.
1:42:07 >> Oh, okay. So, he can't take it out. He
1:42:08 can't take it.
1:42:09 >> Yeah, yeah, yeah.
1:42:10 Joe Gray, that one hitting off our
1:42:12 umpire Andrew Gerard.
1:42:14 Ouch. [screaming]
1:42:16 >> [cheering]
1:42:20 >> He also had one of the coolest entrances
1:42:21 we've seen so far in 2026 Space Jam in
1:42:23 Montgomery.
1:42:25 That was sick. Is there a song or a a
1:42:29 a thing you've wanted to do for a walk
1:42:30 up here so far? Have you had your your
1:42:32 brain turning yet, Mo'ne?
1:42:34 No, not really. I'm still getting you
1:42:37 know pretty comfortable with just
1:42:38 dancing on the field.
1:42:40 Hey, you had a little dance with JBJ
1:42:42 down there earlier.
1:42:43 >> I did. That's cuz I actually really took
1:42:44 the time to learn it. Um
1:42:47 but I just know that you know once I get
1:42:50 comfortable that I'm just going to just
1:42:51 tell them just throw me out there and
1:42:53 just let me have fun. But I haven't
1:42:54 really thought about a walk up yet. I
1:42:56 told Joe Gray if he gets five walk ups
1:42:58 then I would do my first one. Five walk
1:43:00 ups for Joe Gray. Bradford Webb not
1:43:02 going to go for the trick play just
1:43:03 fires that one in and the side is
1:43:05 retired. So, two straight clean innings
1:43:08 here for Bradford Webb as we're talking
1:43:10 to you back up here inside the Dispatch
1:43:11 Center. Again, for those of you who
1:43:12 don't know it's Little League World
1:43:13 Series champion Mo'ne Davis. I remember
1:43:15 watching her when I was in high school
1:43:17 and she was striking people out with 70
1:43:20 mile an hour heaters as a teenager. To
1:43:23 see how far this has come though for you
1:43:25 to be in a league like this, to be in
1:43:27 the Women's Pro Baseball League. How
1:43:28 much has this just shown the growth of
1:43:30 women in the sport? Um it's shown a lot.
1:43:33 I know growing up I was always one of
1:43:34 the only girls in my area playing sports
1:43:37 in general. Um so, for me to come out
1:43:40 here to play with you know all the other
1:43:42 women in the Banana League and then also
1:43:44 all the women in the Women's
1:43:45 Professional League is just insane. Just
1:43:47 to see all the little girls that are
1:43:49 playing baseball now and it's it's just
1:43:51 crazy to see the how far the sport has
1:43:53 come for women in such a short amount of
1:43:55 time. Since you've been here what have
1:43:56 you been asked about more? The Little
1:43:57 League World Series or being an actual
1:43:58 member of the Clowns? Definitely Little
1:44:00 League. I feel like a lot of parents
1:44:02 come a lot of kids come up to me and
1:44:03 they're like hey, my my [music] parents
1:44:05 watched you in Little League and I'm
1:44:06 like thank your parents like that wasn't
1:44:08 that long ago but
1:44:09 definitely Little League for sure. Does
1:44:11 it make you feel old?
1:44:13 I hope it doesn't cuz you're not you're
1:44:15 not I'm 31. I should feel old. Let's
1:44:17 look at some of these strike outs here
1:44:18 from the night. Bradford Webb and David
1:44:20 Griffin have really found their groove.
1:44:21 You're a pitcher. When you can start
1:44:22 moving and grooving like this where you
1:44:24 know that high heater is working, how
1:44:25 good does that feel, Mo'ne? It feels
1:44:27 amazing especially cuz you can really
1:44:29 throw whatever you want at whatever time
1:44:31 you want. So, I feel like both pitchers
1:44:33 once they started to get into their
1:44:34 rhythm, you know kind of going at their
1:44:36 own pace but also keeping the hitters
1:44:37 off balance, they were really able to
1:44:39 you know do whatever they want out
1:44:40 there. Why is David Griffin so
1:44:42 effective?
1:44:43 I think he's just he's just so
1:44:44 passionate.
1:44:45 Um I I had breakfast with him last week
1:44:47 and you know just asking about his
1:44:49 pitches and he's just he's so passionate
1:44:52 about it and he's he's he just loves to
1:44:54 compete.
1:44:55 >> Yes. And he has so many different
1:44:56 pitches in his arsenal that he's able to
1:44:58 just do whatever he wants.
1:44:59 He is just he's an unbelievably locked
1:45:01 in soul. He was on the mic with us a
1:45:03 little bit ago and I mean I'd ask him
1:45:04 questions I have to wait 30 seconds for
1:45:06 him to answer cuz he's just he's
1:45:07 concentrating and he's locked in as he
1:45:09 goes back out for his fifth inning of
1:45:11 work. Mo'ne, you want to stay around for
1:45:12 this half inning? Let's do it.
1:45:13 >> Let's do it. How about it? So, the
1:45:14 Firefighters will send Noah Bridges up
1:45:16 and then we'll go back to the top of the
1:45:17 order.
1:45:20 Noah
1:45:22 sans his
1:45:23 Dalmatian costume that we saw the last
1:45:25 time we faced the Indianapolis Clowns.
1:45:28 By the way, it's the most banana ball
1:45:29 thing you've ever seen. He goes up in a
1:45:31 Dalmatian costume and then hits a big
1:45:33 walk off inning winning home run.
1:45:36 So, just be prepared that might be in
1:45:37 your future.
1:45:39 Hopefully it's not hit it's not hit on
1:45:41 me. By the way, we've got a legend from
1:45:43 Philly here in South Carolina
1:45:45 in Mo'ne Davis. Just a couple hours down
1:45:48 the road there's another legend from
1:45:49 Philly in South Carolina by the name of
1:45:51 Dawn Staley.
1:45:51 >> Yes.
1:45:53 Dawn, if you're listening please come to
1:45:54 a game. Yes, please come.
1:45:56 >> Who doesn't love Dawn Staley?
1:45:58 Maybe Geno Auriemma.
1:45:59 Probably shouldn't have said that.
1:46:02 Okay, one one count.
1:46:04 Mo'ne, you're going to learn quickly
1:46:05 there's a lot of things I'll say up
1:46:07 here.
1:46:08 It's all right.
1:46:09 >> [laughter]
1:46:10 >> I hope so.
1:46:11 It's a one one count to Noah.
1:46:14 When he's swinging the bat confidently
1:46:17 he can put himself in any position. He
1:46:19 had a home run in Montgomery, a triple
1:46:21 on night two.
1:46:24 He's the only guy I've ever seen in
1:46:25 Salem, Virginia and I grew up there for
1:46:27 [music] 20 years of my life hit a ball
1:46:29 to dead center over a 20 foot fence.
1:46:32 That won the game for the Firefighters
1:46:33 over the Tailgaters just a summer ago.
1:46:35 David Griffin in a 3-1 count really
1:46:37 hasn't issued a ton of free passes
1:46:39 tonight and he won't do it right there
1:46:40 as Noah goes into the seats.
1:46:43 Mo'ne, did you go to any banana ball
1:46:45 games before you signed with us? Um I
1:46:47 was there in Tallahassee. Were you
1:46:49 really? I just had a hood on.
1:46:50 >> What did you think? Honestly, it was
1:46:52 insane. I you hear all about it but when
1:46:56 you're actually in it it's it's you're
1:46:59 speechless. You don't know what to say.
1:47:00 Truly truly is insane.
1:47:04 Especially the football stadium games
1:47:06 which you guys will be playing here not
1:47:07 too far in the future. Right back up the
1:47:09 middle. That is a sharp one out to JBJ
1:47:12 and Noah Bridges is aboard.
1:47:16 Beautiful dreamy swing for a dreamy man.
1:47:20 The Firefighters could get the game
1:47:21 tying point across here if Tyner Hughes
1:47:23 can do something.
1:47:25 Talked about it here before but Tiny,
1:47:27 one of the most aggressive lead off guys
1:47:28 we've seen.
1:47:29 I don't know if there's been a game
1:47:31 where he's looked at the first pitch
1:47:32 he's seen.
1:47:34 He will there though and it would have
1:47:35 been a nice one to swing at. It's a
1:47:36 strike.
1:47:44 Noah was moving and probably going to
1:47:45 get to second
1:47:47 but Tiny fouled that one off and
1:47:48 [cheering] just like that it's an 0-2
1:47:49 count.
1:47:53 I have realized as I'm watching games
1:47:55 Yep.
1:47:56 as a pitcher you cannot let the first
1:47:58 batter on.
1:47:59 Yeah, as a pitcher this is a this is
1:48:02 probably the toughest sport you've
1:48:03 played as a pitcher, wouldn't you
1:48:04 >> Honestly, yeah. You let that first
1:48:06 batter on, they steal and you throw four
1:48:08 balls and they score and the inning's
1:48:10 over. Especially if you had a clean
1:48:12 inning in the top half, it's so tough.
1:48:13 [music] As Tyner Hughes, rare strike out
1:48:16 for the lead off hitter of the Fire and
1:48:17 Flames. David Griffin is absolutely
1:48:20 rolling right now. It's his fourth K of
1:48:22 the game.
1:48:25 That's a beautiful slider.
1:48:27 Fools Tiny.
1:48:29 So, now DC3, a guy who has had powerful
1:48:31 swings in the history
1:48:34 of not just his banana ball career
1:48:35 [music] but his firefighter career. Won
1:48:37 the last time we played on a weekend
1:48:39 and showed Clowns over the Party
1:48:40 Animals.
1:48:45 David Griffin I think checked about 10
1:48:47 times on Noah to make sure he didn't go.
1:48:50 Bo the Beaver is on a 28 foot ladder on
1:48:52 the right side of the field.
1:48:55 Noah is going. Dalton swinging. That's a
1:48:57 laser but that
1:49:01 My heart stops every time it goes to the
1:49:03 fence.
1:49:04 You know, I don't think I've seen a fan
1:49:07 catch a foul ball
1:49:08 >> Really? I've been here.
1:49:09 >> Oh, you're in for a treat when it
1:49:10 happens.
1:49:12 The first one of the Firefighters season
1:49:14 happened against the Clowns, so who
1:49:15 knows, it might happen again as DC3
1:49:18 Matrix is out of the way of that one.
1:49:20 It's a 2-1 count.
1:49:26 Inside, NOAH TRYING FOR TWO AND HE'S
1:49:29 GONE DOWN.
1:49:31 That's a heck of a throw
1:49:33 from Joe Lytle.
1:49:39 That's two down
1:49:40 on a 3-1 count, too.
1:49:43 Oh my goodness, folks. We
1:49:46 are in for a treat.
1:49:50 Maybe.
1:49:53 Maybe not.
1:49:56 We We play on.
1:50:01 DC3 OUT TO RIGHT FIELD. IF NOAH WAS
1:50:03 STILL ON, THEY MIGHT have wanted to end
1:50:05 the inning. OUT TO THE TRACK.
1:50:08 HE'LL GO OH, HE'S GOING FOR THREE.
1:50:10 STUMBLED GOING AROUND SECOND. IT DOESN'T
1:50:12 MATTER. SLIDING TRIPLE.
1:50:14 >> [cheering]
1:50:15 >> Kirkland Banks trying to deke him out
1:50:16 and see if he can get him off third.
1:50:19 And now look at this. Firefighters
1:50:22 You have to think what if If Noah
1:50:24 doesn't get picked off, that's the
1:50:25 inning winning hit right there, Monét.
1:50:27 >> Yeah, I That's insane.
1:50:30 Isn't it? It's It's one of those though,
1:50:32 you just kind of kind of eat it and then
1:50:35 just move on to the next one. But they
1:50:36 have to have it here.
1:50:39 With two outs, Logan Lacey's got to get
1:50:42 aboard for the Firefighters to tie this
1:50:43 game.
1:50:47 Hello, Chariots.
1:50:50 Outside, ball one. Lacey has been a
1:50:52 little tough
1:50:54 in game ones. Only had one hit so far in
1:50:56 a game one this year. He is much more
1:50:58 consistent in game two, but already had
1:51:00 himself a base knock here tonight.
1:51:04 A ball four strikeout will do the job.
1:51:05 2-1 count.
1:51:10 Monét, you learn any trick plays yet?
1:51:12 Yeah, I did.
1:51:14 So, I take some fly [music] balls in the
1:51:15 outfield getting ready for the WPBO and
1:51:18 um they taught me the behind-the-back.
1:51:20 So, I I kind of learned that. I got it
1:51:21 at
1:51:22 two to three times during practice.
1:51:24 >> That's an awful tough one, too.
1:51:25 >> It's It's very tough. I don't know why
1:51:26 they taught me that instead of a pop
1:51:27 instead.
1:51:28 >> Yeah, like a tip drill would have been
1:51:29 probably the way to go, but we play on.
1:51:32 Lacey just stays alive. Again, it's a
1:51:35 high pitch that is just so enticing to
1:51:37 offer at.
1:51:38 >> [cheering]
1:51:41 >> You can see the earpiece on Logan.
1:51:44 Might be a sign of something.
1:51:45 >> [cheering]
1:51:46 >> We'll wait to see. 2-2. Lacey Oh, he
1:51:49 just fouled it off.
1:51:58 We've had a couple of things decided by
1:52:00 centimeters here tonight. Correlle Prime
1:52:01 had two singles and doubles robbed of
1:52:03 him by just a couple of inches down the
1:52:04 line.
1:52:05 Now this inning stays alive because of
1:52:06 it.
1:52:07 LACEY HARD HIT CENTER FIELD. JBJ IS
1:52:11 THERE.
1:52:12 And the Firefighters cannot bring the
1:52:14 runner home from third.
1:52:16 Monét
1:52:17 Pleasure to have you up here. Let's do
1:52:19 this again a couple times here
1:52:20 throughout the season. We'll send you
1:52:21 down there. Look forward to seeing you
1:52:23 this weekend.
1:52:23 >> I appreciate I'm You know, let's This is
1:52:26 the first of many. I'll be back.
1:52:27 >> of many. The legend of Monét Davis here.
1:52:30 Let's go down to Family Soul Train on
1:52:32 the field.
1:52:34 COME ON. COME ON. I GOT TWO FAMILIES
1:52:36 HERE AND IT'S TIME TO SEE WHICH FAMILY
1:52:39 HAS THE MOST SOUL. FAMILY NUMBER ONE,
1:52:42 COME ON.
1:52:43 COME ON. [screaming] COME ON. THEY'RE
1:52:45 RUNNING. THEY'RE RUNNING. THEY'RE
1:52:47 RUNNING.
1:52:52 WE GOT THE TRAIN SET UP AND IT IS TIME
1:52:54 TO SEE WHICH FAMILY HAS THE MOST SOUL.
1:52:56 FAMILY NUMBER ONE, ARE YOU READY? YES.
1:52:59 ALL RIGHT. DJ, HIT IT.
1:53:03 COME ON.
1:53:05 HEY, COME ON.
1:53:06 COME ON. Come on. COME ON.
1:53:08 YEAH.
1:53:10 SING ON OUT HERE.
1:53:13 COME ON.
1:53:14 COME ON. COME ON, DAD.
1:53:16 COME ON.
1:53:17 COME ON.
1:53:18 ALL RIGHT.
1:53:19 ALL RIGHT.
1:53:20 YEAH.
1:53:22 ALL RIGHT.
1:53:23 COME ON.
1:53:24 COME ON.
1:53:25 ALL RIGHT. ALL RIGHT. ALL RIGHT. THAT
1:53:26 WAS COOL. FAMILY NUMBER TWO, ARE YOU
1:53:30 READY? YES.
1:53:32 >> [screaming]
1:53:32 >> ALL RIGHT. I GUESS SHE'S READY. SO, DJ,
1:53:35 HIT IT.
1:53:36 COME ON.
1:53:39 Come on.
1:53:40 Come on now. Come on. Come on. Come on.
1:53:42 Come on.
1:53:43 All right.
1:53:44 All right.
1:53:45 >> [cheering]
1:53:46 >> All right. Come on, mama.
1:53:48 Come on, mama.
1:53:49 Come on.
1:53:50 Come on.
1:53:51 Come on. COME ON, DAD.
1:53:52 COME ON. COME ON. LET'S GO.
1:53:54 DAD.
1:53:55 DAD.
1:53:56 DAD.
1:53:57 All right.
1:53:58 All right. Come on. COME ON. COME
1:54:00 NOW FAST.
1:54:01 IT IS YOUR TIME TO DECIDE WHO THE WINNER
1:54:04 IS.
1:54:07 >> [cheering]
1:54:07 >> WELL, ALL RIGHT.
1:54:09 AND IT'S FAMILY NUMBER ONE.
1:54:13 >> [cheering]
1:54:14 >> OR IS IT FAMILY NUMBER TWO?
1:54:19 FAMILY NUMBER TWO, YOU ARE THE WINNERS.
1:54:21 THANK YOU FOR PLAYING FAMILY SOUL TRAIN.
1:54:25 GOOD JOB, GUYS.
1:54:33 SO, THERE IS A NEW pitcher on the mound,
1:54:35 but first, Logan Lacey, what you know
1:54:37 about Soul [music] Train, baby? What's
1:54:39 up, squad?
1:54:39 >> How you feeling? Dude, I'm feeling
1:54:41 great. The ball is flying.
1:54:43 >> That was an absolute rocket you hit to
1:54:45 JBJ. I'm not sure any other center
1:54:46 fielder gets that one.
1:54:48 If I If I hit anyone, I'd rather hit it
1:54:50 to him.
1:54:51 Why?
1:54:52 I mean, he's a legend.
1:54:53 >> Okay.
1:54:54 So, if you get out, JUST GET OUT to JBJ.
1:54:57 Yeah. Okay.
1:54:58 I'll save that one in the memory bank of
1:55:00 the legend there.
1:55:01 Javon Now we need him to strike out.
1:55:03 That is correct. And the person who's
1:55:05 got to do it is Javon Wray who steps
1:55:07 onto the mound. Yep. Four innings of
1:55:09 work in the Banana Ball Open was the
1:55:10 longest he has gone
1:55:12 since Richmond
1:55:14 last summer. Logan Lacey was here in
1:55:17 2024 when the Firefighters first visited
1:55:20 Greenville, South Carolina. JBJ screamer
1:55:23 Peanut diving out wouldn't get there.
1:55:25 Armando catches up to it in center field
1:55:28 and limits that to just a single.
1:55:29 >> [cheering]
1:55:31 >> That's the first hit of Mr. Bradley
1:55:33 Jr.'s night tonight.
1:55:35 But yeah, you were here in 2024. In
1:55:37 fact, July 27th, 2024, you had a pretty
1:55:40 important part of that game in
1:55:42 Showdowns. YOU WERE THE HITTER in round
1:55:43 one for the Firefighters.
1:55:45 Hit one into the corner in right field
1:55:47 and the rest is history, brother. Yeah,
1:55:49 that was a crazy night. Now being out
1:55:51 here,
1:55:52 I sort of remember it, but dude, it's
1:55:53 like a
1:55:54 It's like a flash.
1:55:55 >> I was going to say You don't remember
1:55:56 much.
1:55:56 >> Has there been any nostalgia coming up
1:55:58 for you as as we come back here? Yeah,
1:56:00 just hitting. I Dude, it's like being in
1:56:02 the box reminds me of Fenway. Just being
1:56:04 back here in '24. Last time I was
1:56:06 actually out here, I was Guy Fieri, so I
1:56:08 wasn't Logan Lacey.
1:56:10 Fun fact.
1:56:10 >> Some would argue you're still Guy
1:56:11 [music] Fieri in soul.
1:56:13 Oh, but that off the bag, that's a tough
1:56:15 play.
1:56:16 It's going to get all the way to the
1:56:17 corner. JBJ is on his horse. He might be
1:56:20 going for a home. He does get the wave
1:56:22 around. LACEY, TRANSFER.
1:56:25 NOT IN TIME. IT'S A CLOSE PLAY, but
1:56:27 Bobby La Day, another one. RBI double.
1:56:33 MIGHT BE THE MOST annoying play for a
1:56:35 third [music] baseman when it goes off
1:56:36 the bag like that. Yeah, that don't
1:56:38 happen much, but when it does, it's like
1:56:39 hats off to him.
1:56:43 Brendan, having some fun?
1:56:47 You can do this, can't you?
1:56:53 >> [cheering]
1:56:56 >> I saw Logan Lacey doing this last night
1:56:58 at the hotel after he went to group
1:56:59 therapy.
1:57:01 Hey, still the champ at mini golf, by
1:57:03 the way. Were you really?
1:57:04 Hey, I saw you playing darts out there.
1:57:06 You looked good.
1:57:07 >> Yep, and darts. How'd you know about
1:57:08 that? Uh it was on someone's Instagram
1:57:10 story. Oh, okay.
1:57:12 Got to be careful.
1:57:16 Yeah, you got to be careful who you
1:57:17 trust around these parts, huh?
1:57:19 Look at Peanut. He's totally out of it.
1:57:21 Say something to him. Peanut.
1:57:24 Peanut. Yeah, look at him. Oh, Caden,
1:57:26 man. He looks hurt right now. He looks
1:57:29 sad. Peanut.
1:57:30 No, he's out of it.
1:57:31 >> Can you go give him a hug for me and
1:57:32 just tell him I love him?
1:57:34 I'll look at him.
1:57:35 Oh, now he's HE'S LIKE, "WHAT?"
1:57:42 >> [cheering]
1:57:43 >> JBJ, LOOK AT THAT. JUST A MATCH NOSE.
1:57:45 Barely got that left foot down, but he
1:57:47 does get it down before the tag is
1:57:49 applied.
1:57:49 >> Joe might hit it to me.
1:57:51 I hope he does, man. I need to see a
1:57:53 trick play out of you.
1:57:54 Had a really nice one earlier on there.
1:57:57 Fielded between the legs. Oh, yeah.
1:58:04 Logan, take me through the mindset of
1:58:05 that Showdowns. I know you told me you
1:58:07 were just looking for
1:58:09 You were facing Drew Lesky at the time
1:58:11 where Drew was the reigning pitcher of
1:58:13 the year in Banana Ball.
1:58:15 You were looking for a fastball. You got
1:58:16 it. Maybe not in the exact placement you
1:58:17 want, but you had to work with what you
1:58:19 got. I know these guys aren't throwing
1:58:21 me a lot of fastballs, so I got to take
1:58:23 advantage of it anytime I see one. Oh my
1:58:25 goodness, RIGHT BACK TO JAVON.
1:58:28 WON'T COUNT AS THE TRICK PLAY, BUT HE
1:58:29 DOES GET THE OUT.
1:58:31 HOW MANY TIMES ARE WE GOING TO HIT ONE
1:58:33 BACK TO BABY G, MAN?
1:58:37 The reflexes are good still. Dude, he's
1:58:39 taken one right off the race,
1:58:42 potentially.
1:58:43 Then took one off the face in
1:58:44 Albuquerque and now he gets one right
1:58:46 back to him. Yep. He passed every
1:58:48 concussion protocol though. He's good.
1:58:50 Hey, he might have lost a tooth or two.
1:58:53 But that night 2024, you round third as
1:58:56 Nico Hoerner swings big and misses.
1:58:58 And then Marshall still able to get that
1:59:00 one out. You guys win it. Take me
1:59:02 through the mindset of what that team
1:59:05 was like that night after that important
1:59:07 of a win. It was a win in which
1:59:11 It was
1:59:12 final game of the year. I actually
1:59:15 when I hit the fastball I was like, "Oh
1:59:17 my gosh, I am not in shape to be doing
1:59:19 this."
1:59:21 Oh, yeah. Nico swung a sword. Swung a
1:59:23 sword. Baby G, another strikeout. Oh,
1:59:26 yeah. I do remember I hit the ball and I
1:59:28 was like the grass was kind of thick in
1:59:30 the outfield. I was like, "All right, I
1:59:31 got I better get on my horse cuz right
1:59:32 field shallow."
1:59:33 And I know when I was rounding third
1:59:35 that's when all the base runners get
1:59:36 most nervous till they see the ball and
1:59:38 I knew I was going to be safe.
1:59:40 All right, trick play right here.
1:59:43 He's called it. Yep. Logan Lacey has
1:59:45 called a trick play.
1:59:46 >> What should I do? Between the legs or
1:59:48 backflip? If it's high into the sky I
1:59:51 I'd like to see a backflip, but
1:59:53 I'll let you determine that.
1:59:54 >> All right, yeah, you're right. Hard
1:59:55 ground ball at me might front flip.
1:59:58 Hey, if you can recreate what you did in
2:00:00 Scottsdale, man, I'll take that, too.
2:00:05 Hey, what happened between you and DC 3
2:00:07 AND THE 1 OVER in the clowns dugout?
2:00:09 Hey, the clowns formed a formation so I
2:00:11 couldn't even see DC.
2:00:13 They played a zone? Yeah. Okay.
2:00:19 Corral Prime, runner on third, 1-2
2:00:21 count. Javon trying to get that high
2:00:23 heater. Man,
2:00:24 when that high heater is there, Logan,
2:00:26 it's so tempting to swing, isn't it?
2:00:28 Yeah, especially for Prime. I mean, he's
2:00:29 like 6'8".
2:00:30 Yeah.
2:00:32 It's tough to get high heat on him.
2:00:33 Everything's at the belt.
2:00:35 Yep, that's the inning. Shots. South
2:00:37 Tremble, did you get something? Did
2:00:39 drill? Oh, yeah.
2:00:41 Call it in for Smoke, his second of the
2:00:44 game.
2:00:45 Logan Lacey was throwing water balloons
2:00:48 with me earlier.
2:00:50 Hi, Peanut.
2:00:52 Oh, by the way, don't ever give me a
2:00:53 water balloon again. Just saying, if you
2:00:55 know, you know. Wherever you are. Well,
2:00:58 we'll not throw you under the bus. Logan
2:00:59 Lacey, let's do this again sometime
2:01:01 soon, brother. See you, baby. Love you.
2:01:02 Appreciate you, dude. Love you, too.
2:01:04 Go mug it with with Peanut.
2:01:07 >> [cheering]
2:01:09 >> How about we take a peek at what's going
2:01:11 on in this beautiful sport that we call
2:01:13 >> [cheering]
2:01:13 >> the Banana Ball Championship League
2:01:15 tonight? We got a trio of games and we
2:01:18 weren't supposed to
2:01:20 >> [cheering]
2:01:20 >> Coconuts and Tailgaters tonight
2:01:23 and tomorrow as well.
2:01:26 8:00 start.
2:01:27 >> [cheering]
2:01:28 >> Party Animals, Bananas were supposed to
2:01:30 be a Saturday, Sunday affair. Instead,
2:01:31 it's a Friday, Sunday affair because
2:01:33 Mother Nature hates us.
2:01:36 So, they're playing right [cheering] now
2:01:37 as we speak at Yankee Stadium.
2:01:42 Andy Cosgrove is currently shirtless.
2:01:43 So, for those of you who would like an
2:01:45 update, there you go.
2:01:47 By the way, spoiler alert. I'm going to
2:01:48 give you until the count of six, five,
2:01:51 four, three,
2:01:53 two, one.
2:01:56 Bananas are trailing one nothing as Rack
2:01:58 just hit a beautiful rack flip, by the
2:01:59 way.
2:02:01 In the top of the fourth.
2:02:03 But yeah, we got a trio of games.
2:02:04 Coconuts, Tailgaters in Amarillo. Party
2:02:06 Animals, Bananas up at Yankee Stadium.
2:02:10 Love it.
2:02:11 Lot of stuff going on here.
2:02:14 So, here we go. Firefighters really need
2:02:16 something here as Vinnie Santarcangelo
2:02:18 gives relief to David Griffin. What a
2:02:21 five innings it was
2:02:23 for the man wearing 15 in blue.
2:02:26 But Vinnie Sants goes up against
2:02:28 EJ.
2:02:33 He's got a single and an RBI single
2:02:35 tonight.
2:02:38 The man would love to hit another homer
2:02:39 here at some point.
2:02:43 Had his first one with the Firefighters
2:02:45 at FSU and he's been close a couple
2:02:47 different times.
2:02:49 But right now a patient approach. It's a
2:02:51 3-0 count. And if the Firefighters are
2:02:53 going to take advantage, it's an innings
2:02:56 like this where it's just one or zero
2:02:58 points up on the board.
2:02:59 Inside, EJ earns himself his first ball
2:03:02 four sprint of the evening. So, three
2:03:03 plate appearances
2:03:05 result in three on bases for EJ. He'll
2:03:07 stop at first, give way to Smoke as a
2:03:09 designated runner.
2:03:12 And now Armando Besseta comes on in.
2:03:17 Mando had a ground into a double play
2:03:19 his first time around. That did bring in
2:03:21 a run that would tie the first inning.
2:03:24 It's a three run first as you take a
2:03:26 look at Vinnie Santarcangelo's numbers.
2:03:29 Three run first inning for the clowns
2:03:30 and then a three run inning for the
2:03:32 Firefighters right after it. So, it was
2:03:33 a negated inning. Right now, the only
2:03:35 points coming in the third inning.
2:03:38 Two run frame for the clowns that could
2:03:39 not be responded to by the Firefighters.
2:03:42 They have only scored in that first
2:03:43 frame, by the way.
2:03:46 Right now, one on the board here.
2:03:50 And it's top of the sixth for the
2:03:51 clowns.
2:03:53 Armando looks at one that moves inside,
2:03:55 didn't like it, doesn't matter.
2:03:57 It's now 2-2 count.
2:04:02 What's my age again? Playing from
2:04:04 Blink-182 across the stadium. Sometimes
2:04:07 we all wonder what our age is. SMOKE
2:04:10 GOING FOR SECOND. JOE LIDLE TRANSFERRED
2:04:12 IT between the legs, but it wouldn't
2:04:14 have counted because Smoke got in
2:04:15 safely. And now runner in scoring
2:04:17 position with nobody away. It's a 1-2
2:04:20 count for Armando Besseta.
2:04:22 Former Party Animal.
2:04:25 Two player two hits and two ball four
2:04:26 sprints in the Banana Ball open for the
2:04:28 Firefighters. Really found a groove.
2:04:30 And he lashes that one into shallow left
2:04:33 center field. Joe Gray Jr. pulls it in.
2:04:35 Smoke fakes it and goes back.
2:04:44 CLEAR OUT, EVERYBODY. IT'S CHIEF!
2:04:47 >> [screaming]
2:04:48 >> GOOD BOY!
2:04:51 PICKS UP THE BAT and brings it home. The
2:04:52 only
2:04:54 Dalmatian bat dog in the history of the
2:04:57 world
2:04:58 has done it again.
2:05:02 Peanut inside of that hit? No, it
2:05:04 didn't.
2:05:06 That called a strike.
2:05:12 He's got a single on the night, but also
2:05:14 a strikeout.
2:05:15 Really needs something to go his way.
2:05:16 Vinnie Santarcangelo looks at that with
2:05:18 those dual duo colored cleats. I can't
2:05:20 talk.
2:05:23 Way outside. Smoke halfway to third,
2:05:25 then thinks better of it.
2:05:30 Joe Lidle's done a heck of a job behind
2:05:32 the backstop tonight.
2:05:38 Again,
2:05:39 punched out.
2:05:41 It's foul.
2:05:45 >> [cheering]
2:05:49 >> Do the 0-2 again. Or excuse me, 1-2
2:05:51 instead. It's now 2-2 count.
2:05:54 >> [cheering]
2:05:56 [screaming]
2:06:00 >> Peanut, if he gets one into the outfield
2:06:02 this game is probably tied. A ball four
2:06:04 sprint could do the job as well and that
2:06:06 is on the table.
2:06:10 3-2 count.
2:06:11 B4S is bringing on in Smoke.
2:06:15 Instead, Peanut chops at this one
2:06:17 out to right field. Nico Holsizer there.
2:06:19 Smoke is going to third.
2:06:26 Kirkland Banks
2:06:28 lost that ball in the infield. But
2:06:30 Vinnie Santarcangelo jumped in front of
2:06:32 it, collided with South Tremble who goes
2:06:34 back to third. Firefighters have to have
2:06:36 this. It says, "Oh,
2:06:38 boy!"
2:06:45 Look who we have here, folks. It's
2:06:47 Fisher Polidor off old sport coming in
2:06:50 with two away here in the bottom of the
2:06:52 sixth inning.
2:06:54 High leg kick for old Mr. Polidor off.
2:06:56 We call him old knuckles around these
2:06:57 parts.
2:06:59 Because of that nasty knuckleball he's
2:07:01 got
2:07:02 what I believe is a haberdasher on.
2:07:04 That's some I think it's a haberdasher.
2:07:05 Forgive me if I don't know that word
2:07:07 exactly right now. Our country's in a
2:07:08 bit of a crisis.
2:07:11 Old McCarthyism thing is a whole big
2:07:12 deal. Doing a lot of stuff. He just
2:07:14 plunked Lamar Sparks.
2:07:17 Little bit of a cheap one. Oh, there's a
2:07:18 donkey on field.
2:07:24 You want a hold of it? YES. PLEASE. YES.
2:07:28 I LOVE A LITTLE TANDEM.
2:07:30 CHICKS LOVE THAT ROMANTIC
2:07:34 YES, THEY DO LOVE THAT romantic stuff.
2:07:36 My beautiful bride, Logan, of 25 years
2:07:38 and two score
2:07:40 would agree with the same thing.
2:07:42 So, now D Mac, you want to talk about an
2:07:43 original here.
2:07:45 An OG
2:07:46 up at the plate facing one of the
2:07:47 original OGs, Fisher Polidor off. Just
2:07:49 21 years old, but he's a time traveler
2:07:51 as D Mac hacks at that one.
2:07:54 That knuckleball can be so tantalizing.
2:07:59 Much like Marilyn Monroe was back in the
2:08:00 day.
2:08:02 Love her. D Mac swinging over that one.
2:08:05 Fisher Polidor off flirting with a
2:08:07 strikeout here. Gave up a home run
2:08:09 against the Firefighters. That's a
2:08:10 softball pitch and that ONE'S GOING TO
2:08:12 SCORE SMOKE.
2:08:14 >> [cheering]
2:08:15 >> THAT ONE GETS HALFWAY DOWN TO Kirkland
2:08:17 Banks and Lamar puts on the brakes of
2:08:19 his mobile T4 and goes back to second
2:08:22 base.
2:08:23 But Dakota McFadden steals first base
2:08:25 and so now there are runners on first
2:08:26 and second scoring position. Mason
2:08:28 Maxwell comes on up to the dish.
2:08:31 Renegade is playing.
2:08:33 Good stuff.
2:08:36 Another bad pass ball and now the
2:08:39 runners are on second and third. The
2:08:40 Firefighters have a shot to win the
2:08:41 inning.
2:08:44 Things falling apart here for Fisher.
2:08:47 That is a beautiful soul. The
2:08:48 instruments that he plays are countless.
2:08:50 Infinite, even.
2:08:54 Full windup in the pitch. Mason Maxwell
2:08:55 wanted to send that one
2:08:59 to the stars. Instead, it will go foul.
2:09:01 It's a 1-1 count.
2:09:05 The old stirrups for Fisher. It's good
2:09:06 to see the classics being broken out and
2:09:07 that one's into the dirt.
2:09:09 Joe Lidle can't find it and Lamar Sparks
2:09:12 is GOING TO COME IN TO SCORE IN THE FIRE
2:09:14 AND FLAMES. SOMEHOW, SOMEWAY, FIND A WAY
2:09:18 TO SALVAGE A POINT AS MASON MAXWELL
2:09:20 NEVER TOOK THE BAT OFF HIS shoulders
2:09:22 and brings us back to the future.
2:09:42 Popsicle.
2:09:44 That's what it is.
2:09:48 Good stuff. MICHAEL IS WITH BABY G.
2:09:53 Just a little bit. We're coming to the
2:09:54 end of this one. What's the mentality to
2:09:56 get this one in the books? Uh get ahead,
2:09:59 you know, the team stay up. Offense
2:10:01 doing their job. Now it's my turn to do
2:10:02 my job.
2:10:03 What is your job? How would you define
2:10:05 your job to someone? My job is to throw
2:10:07 strikes, give my position players some,
2:10:10 you know, the balls to field and
2:10:12 then we dominate. Best job in the
2:10:14 greatest sport in the world. Yes,
2:10:16 totally. You want to know what I
2:10:17 understand?
2:10:17 >> audience, I got you. Hey audience, I
2:10:19 think you want to see Jovan throw. We're
2:10:21 going to stay here and watch you throw a
2:10:22 little bit. Michael, you want to stay
2:10:24 back behind the mound and just watch him
2:10:25 throw? Zack, how much would you bet if I
2:10:28 get hit like you want to you want to get
2:10:29 a wager right here? Well, given the fact
2:10:31 that Baby G has had three come back up
2:10:33 the middle at him throughout the season,
2:10:35 I would wager that you're probably going
2:10:37 to take one off the noggin here at some
2:10:38 point.
2:10:39 >> Yeah, would you uh would you ice it for
2:10:40 me? Uh probably not.
2:10:43 That would be one of our athletic
2:10:44 trainers that does the job. Hey, ask
2:10:46 Baby G if we're having fun, if we're
2:10:48 playing banana ball. Oh, no, Michael's
2:10:50 left. Michael's left.
2:10:52 >> okay, okay. This is Hey, it's the song
2:10:54 he created, MAN. I'M TRYING TO GIVE YOU
2:10:55 SOMETHING.
2:10:56 MICHAEL, I'm giving you gold here. I'm
2:10:57 giving you constant gold.
2:11:00 >> And you turn it down? I couldn't hear
2:11:02 the song.
2:11:03 >> Look at you. What's the song?
2:11:06 We need a ball nowhere to sideline
2:11:07 reporter now, folks.
2:11:09 We need a ball nowhere.
2:11:10 Somebody please tell Michael Schwartz
2:11:12 the rules.
2:11:13 >> I COULDN'T HEAR. I COULDN'T HEAR.
2:11:14 >> KNOW WE'RE HAVING FUN, WE PLAY BANANA
2:11:17 BALL. YOU KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON. TONIGHT,
2:11:20 TONIGHT, TONIGHT BY BABY G AND HOT Boy
2:11:23 Ron. I don't know what to tell you.
2:11:26 Michael, see you later.
2:11:28 Love that guy.
2:11:30 But uh I think the I think the face
2:11:32 paint has uh fumed into his brains.
2:11:36 He's a good boy. So is Baby G. He is an
2:11:39 absolute good dude.
2:11:41 So Fisher Polidoroff comes in and the
2:11:43 Firefighters immediately equalize the
2:11:45 game. Chris Burges TATTOOED IN THE LEFT
2:11:48 CENTER FIELD. Noah Bridges couldn't get
2:11:50 to it. BOUNCES OVER HIS HEAD. ARMANDO
2:11:52 THROWING BACK in for second, but Burges
2:11:55 is well in front of that.
2:11:59 And now the every clown in the history
2:12:02 of man
2:12:03 is on the mound.
2:12:05 That would uh indicate to me
2:12:07 that we have something special coming.
2:12:38 >> [music]
2:12:52 [music]
2:12:58 >> Pants hitting for the Clowns. Number
2:13:01 one, Kirkland the Paint.
2:13:13 >> [music]
2:13:14 >> Good job, KB.
2:13:16 Don't blame it on the sunshine.
2:13:18 We do want to know how to win.
2:13:20 Again, don't like to remind you too much
2:13:22 of the clock because A, see it. But B,
2:13:25 we're having fun here as KB sends one a
2:13:27 mile high. Noah chasing it back. That
2:13:30 one IS OFF THE WALL AGAIN.
2:13:33 FLASH
2:13:34 ROUNDING THIRD. THAT ONE GETS BY TINY
2:13:37 Hughes at second base. Kirkland Banks
2:13:40 into second with a double and now there
2:13:42 are runners on second and third with
2:13:44 nobody away and just after the
2:13:45 Firefighters found their rhythm on
2:13:48 offense, got a point back to tie the
2:13:50 game, in danger of blowing it again.
2:13:55 The Clowns have just had a consistent
2:13:56 attack at the plate as DC3 sends that
2:13:59 one back in.
2:14:01 One of the things that we've seen from
2:14:02 Jovan Ray this year
2:14:04 is he's been absolutely incredible at
2:14:05 just gritting and grinding some things
2:14:08 out. He'll need it here.
2:14:10 Dell Francis bounces that one foul. Had
2:14:13 a great I mean great series in
2:14:16 Charleston.
2:14:17 Five hits after having just four hits
2:14:21 in both February and March combined.
2:14:23 Again, they only played one month or one
2:14:24 game in February.
2:14:26 So it helps. DC3 just saved a run.
2:14:30 Flail all about.
2:14:33 This guy, four home runs in a game while
2:14:36 he's playing at Gardner-Webb. [music]
2:14:39 He has psychotic
2:14:41 power hitting abilities, but he doesn't
2:14:44 there.
2:14:45 Jovan Ray
2:14:47 lockdown Selly coming at you.
2:14:50 Dell Francis sat down.
2:15:00 So now Jaylen Vasquez with two on, both
2:15:02 in scoring position and just one away.
2:15:04 Dalton Cornett uses the chest to block
2:15:06 that one down.
2:15:08 How big could this be for the
2:15:09 Firefighters if they could just find a
2:15:10 way out of the inning?
2:15:12 Really going to have to keep everything
2:15:13 in the infield.
2:15:17 Jovan was incredible last week with
2:15:19 things that were high in the zone. When
2:15:21 he worked a little bit lower, it was
2:15:23 tougher to locate.
2:15:25 Once he worked up high, especially with
2:15:26 that beautiful fastball he has, got a
2:15:29 lot of Texas Tailgaters swinging and
2:15:31 missing.
2:15:33 That one goes outside. A ball four
2:15:34 sprint would be the [music] worst thing
2:15:35 he could do here outside of giving up a
2:15:36 home run or extra base hit. A ball four
2:15:39 sprint would easily bring in two.
2:15:44 Run right back up the middle and that
2:15:46 might DO THE JOB. EVERYBODY WAS PLAYING
2:15:48 WAY far back. Peanut couldn't get it on
2:15:50 the dive and that's a two RBI single
2:15:53 for Jaylen Vasquez.
2:16:00 So just as soon as the Firefighters tie
2:16:02 the game back up, they immediately give
2:16:04 themselves more work to have to get out
2:16:06 of and Jovan Ray is going to come out of
2:16:08 the game in favor of Ben Dunn the Third.
2:16:10 So the reigning pitcher of the year
2:16:16 comes back in.
2:16:18 And now with one away, he's going to
2:16:19 have to really work some magic here for
2:16:21 the Fire and Flames.
2:16:24 Right now, the Clowns really in charge
2:16:26 of the equalizer point. Not too many
2:16:27 trick plays on the board. Just six for
2:16:29 the Clowns, four for the Firefighters.
2:16:34 Boy, a double trick play with two
2:16:35 wonders here. That one, soft contact.
2:16:37 Can EJ find it? No, he can't.
2:16:41 It's a tough one to play [music] on.
2:16:45 EJ really gave that one a chase,
2:16:48 but it won't do the job.
2:16:52 But it's still a no two count.
2:16:57 Joe Gray right back to the same spot.
2:17:00 This time, can EJ find it?
2:17:02 Tiny, boy,
2:17:04 laid everything on the line there.
2:17:09 And Tiny couldn't come up with it and so
2:17:10 we'll play it again. Look at this.
2:17:12 Superhuman dive there from Tiny.
2:17:15 Almost had a big play.
2:17:21 Clock ticking under 20 minutes.
2:17:25 Two and a half innings still left to
2:17:26 play.
2:17:28 Ben Dunn checking back over.
2:17:31 The man is the reigning pitcher of the
2:17:33 uh year, excuse me, in Banana Ball for a
2:17:35 reason as Jaylen
2:17:37 goes for second. Logan Lacy. Oh, he gets
2:17:39 it over TO TINY WHO TRIED TO GO BETWEEN
2:17:41 the legs. It goes off the glove of EJ
2:17:43 over to Caz Egan,
2:17:45 but Joe Gray well down the first base
2:17:47 line, so he won't go for second.
2:17:52 So Joe will reach on a fielder's choice.
2:18:06 Now Jackie Bradley Jr.
2:18:10 going up against Ben Dunn. The World
2:18:12 Series champ going up against a pitcher
2:18:15 of the year. The silent silencer
2:18:17 of the Firefighters.
2:18:19 >> [cheering]
2:18:25 >> JBJ right up
2:18:28 >> [cheering]
2:18:28 >> into right field.
2:18:30 Joe Gray turns the corner. Going for
2:18:32 third. South put a heck of a throw on
2:18:34 that one,
2:18:36 but Gray gets in there sliding. Lacy
2:18:38 couldn't apply the tag in time
2:18:40 >> [cheering]
2:18:40 >> and there are runners on the corners
2:18:42 with two away.
2:18:44 And maybe one of
2:18:48 >> [screaming]
2:18:49 [cheering]
2:18:52 >> Now Bobby LaDay, one of the more
2:18:54 dangerous AB's, especially with runners
2:18:57 on.
2:18:58 Could really blow this thing open here
2:19:01 for the Clowns. Goes right back up the
2:19:02 middle. Tiny, this could be a TRICK
2:19:03 PLAY. RIGHT BETWEEN THE LEGS.
2:19:06 So [music] we can count that one in.
2:19:08 So the Firefighters get out with just
2:19:09 the two runs of damage done, but they're
2:19:12 going to have to find a way in the
2:19:14 bottom of the seventh to find two runs
2:19:16 again.
2:19:18 And now it's time for the sheet race.
2:19:23 The sheet race. We have the blue sheet,
2:19:26 the pink sheet, the brown sheet, and the
2:19:28 red sheet. They will be racing around
2:19:29 the infield. First one to cross the
2:19:31 finish line by home plate will be the
2:19:33 winner. Are your sheets ready? ON YOUR
2:19:36 MARK, GET SET, GO!
2:19:40 We have the pink sheet taking a quick
2:19:42 lead.
2:19:43 >> know what to call the first one. I think
2:19:44 it's beige.
2:19:45 >> is not far behind. They must keep all
2:19:47 the way INSIDE THE SHEETS.
2:19:49 HE'S GOT A FATHER. BLUE SHEET DOWN. BLUE
2:19:52 HAS LOST HIS BRAINS.
2:19:53 >> The red sheet is currently in third
2:19:56 place. If you got a red sheet, you got
2:19:58 serious problems. Absolutely nothing
2:20:00 GOING HIS WAY. NOW BROWN IS FALLING.
2:20:05 PINK OR BEIGE OR WHATEVER YOU CALL IT IS
2:20:06 GOING TO HAVE A CHANCE TO WIN. BLUE
2:20:08 SHOULDN'T COUNT CUZ HE'S RACING WITHOUT
2:20:10 HIS SHEET.
2:20:11 DIVE AT HOME.
2:20:14 That was a dominant one
2:20:16 for the dude in the pink sheet.
2:20:19 Beautiful stuff on the sheet race.
2:20:22 I know all of you at home love that.
2:20:24 Man, what a tumble for the guy in blue.
2:20:27 And then brown took a tumble.
2:20:38 Andrew Irvine, as you take a look at the
2:20:40 replay here.
2:20:42 Right across the line. Kasey Egan able
2:20:44 to to bring that one in
2:20:47 with the microphone.
2:20:49 So now the man who wears six seven.
2:20:53 Andrew Irvine out of Waterloo, Iowa.
2:20:58 Fifth round pick for the Clowns and he
2:21:00 needs to come up big here.
2:21:02 For Indianapolis.
2:21:04 They've got two on in the top of the
2:21:05 seventh. If the Firefighters want a shot
2:21:07 at this, they really have got to get
2:21:09 this inning. Clowns still lead in the
2:21:11 trick play equalizer point column,
2:21:14 six to five.
2:21:16 It's not insurmountable for the Fire and
2:21:18 Flames as Mason fouls that one back, but
2:21:20 you want to really do some work in that
2:21:22 column. And also you need to find a way
2:21:25 to not be down two points going into the
2:21:27 ninth inning.
2:21:30 >> [cheering]
2:21:36 >> Mason stares at that one. Patient eye.
2:21:42 Mason's drawn a couple of ball four
2:21:44 sprints. He struck out tonight. Boy,
2:21:45 that's a tough one.
2:21:47 And Andrew Gerard
2:21:49 says it's a good one on the outside part
2:21:51 of the black.
2:21:56 Two-two. A massive inning. Mason right
2:21:58 back up TO ANDREW IRVINE, BETWEEN THE
2:22:00 LEGS AND Correll brings it on in. It's a
2:22:02 trick play for the Clowns.
2:22:05 Their first one since the third inning.
2:22:11 So now it's seven five.
2:22:13 And that's the issue with the soft
2:22:14 grounding contact is it fights a lot of
2:22:16 trick plays.
2:22:18 Noah swings. Wanted to send that one to
2:22:20 Mars. Instead it gets sent down to the
2:22:23 crust of the earth.
2:22:26 We can go back to the sideline there for
2:22:28 a bit.
2:22:29 Marshall Shill and Christian Diemer are
2:22:30 having a light saber battle.
2:22:35 Really doing their thing. Joe Lytle's
2:22:37 frame wouldn't do it.
2:22:43 Can Noah find that clutch piece of
2:22:45 hitting?
2:22:46 Again, it
2:22:47 That outside part of the plate is
2:22:49 getting called.
2:22:53 Another two-two.
2:22:55 Ball three. Ball four sprint could
2:22:57 really help the cause of the Fighters.
2:23:01 Marshall Shill has taken a light saber
2:23:02 to the back.
2:23:04 Believes the war is done.
2:23:06 Ball four sprint.
2:23:07 Again, all seven fielders behind the
2:23:09 pitcher now must touch the banana ball.
2:23:11 NOAH ON HIS HORSE. HE TURNED ON THE JETS
2:23:14 AND GOT TO SECOND.
2:23:17 It's a big extra base.
2:23:24 So a two base [music] ball four sprint
2:23:26 gives Tyner Hughes a chance to hit with
2:23:28 a runner in scoring position.
2:23:30 Clutch piece of running for Noah.
2:23:37 Tyner singled his first plate [music]
2:23:38 appearance.
2:23:40 Grounded out in a strikeout. That's his
2:23:41 damage done tonight.
2:23:45 The 10th round pick out of the Visitors
2:23:47 could get a big moment here.
2:23:50 Instead he stares at one right on the
2:23:51 inside. Go down for a strike.
2:24:00 Tiny doesn't offer. Joe had a little
2:24:02 trouble finding that one. Maybe trying
2:24:03 to geek out.
2:24:05 Bridges out on second.
2:24:08 Irvine this year 535 MPI. His ERA
2:24:12 elevated 1350.
2:24:14 Like to bring that down. Firefighters
2:24:17 could really do some damage on that.
2:24:19 They can find a couple here.
2:24:22 Tiny sends that one out in front of the
2:24:24 building here. It's a two-two.
2:24:34 Inside.
2:24:35 Chin music going for Tiny and he gets
2:24:37 out of the way.
2:24:39 Three-two count. Ball four sprint
2:24:42 gets the Fighters within one.
2:24:47 Tiny stays alive. Or does he?
2:24:50 Into the stands.
2:24:56 There's been no ruling. John Crosser
2:24:59 says no.
2:25:02 Clowns are adamant that that was a
2:25:03 catch.
2:25:08 Let's see a replay.
2:25:10 >> [screaming]
2:25:12 >> I
2:25:15 Yeah, that looks like he might have
2:25:16 caught that.
2:25:22 So far
2:25:23 don't believe this is challengeable and
2:25:25 Tiny RIGHT OVER TO LADAY AND IT GETS BY
2:25:27 HIM.
2:25:29 INTO CENTER FIELD. NOAH
2:25:31 almost got the wave around. HE IS GOING
2:25:33 TO GET THE WAVE AROUND.
2:25:34 >> [screaming]
2:25:34 >> SAFE!
2:25:36 >> [cheering]
2:25:38 >> TINY GOES TO SECOND. NOW HE'S GOING TO
2:25:40 THIRD.
2:25:42 THIS HAS BROKEN DOWN FOR THE CLOWNS.
2:25:44 WHAT IS GOING ON?
2:25:46 What looked like it might have been A
2:25:47 FAN CALLED FOUL BALL TO GET OUT NUMBER
2:25:49 two has resulted in the Fire and Flames
2:25:52 getting to third and a run across.
2:25:56 As Julian Nesta by the way says
2:25:59 HOT HOT SOUP. HOT SOUP.
2:26:03 ONE GOT AWAY FROM BOBBY LADAY. It's a
2:26:05 hard hit one. Now the Firefighters one
2:26:08 run away from tying this inning up.
2:26:09 DALTON DOWN THE RIGHT FIELD LINE. BAM!
2:26:13 GROUND RULE DOUBLE.
2:26:16 >> [cheering]
2:26:16 >> IT'S AN RBI. TINY can just lay down at
2:26:19 home. DC3 over the fence.
2:26:24 And by the way
2:26:25 don't want to jinx it.
2:26:28 He has a single.
2:26:29 He has a triple. And he's got a double
2:26:31 now.
2:26:33 I'm just saying
2:26:34 golden at bat might very well be in his
2:26:35 future.
2:26:38 What about Logan Lacey? 10 minutes on
2:26:40 the clock. Now the Firefighters have
2:26:41 tied the inning up.
2:26:43 And they're going to put Smoke out there
2:26:45 as a designated runner.
2:26:50 He comes home. Firefighters win the
2:26:51 inning and they win the point.
2:27:00 Logan Lacey has tamed the green monster
2:27:03 at Fenway Park.
2:27:05 If he gets a healthy enough swing on
2:27:07 this one, he could tame the Greenville
2:27:09 monster, too.
2:27:11 Instead he gets out of the way. Ball
2:27:12 four sprint would do this thing for the
2:27:14 Fighters.
2:27:16 Boy, what a twist of fate that would be
2:27:17 for the Clowns. What looked like a sure
2:27:19 fire fan called foul ball
2:27:21 might turn into disaster. IT WILL TURN
2:27:23 INTO DISASTER. GETS BY JOE. HE'S NOT
2:27:26 EVEN GOING TO LOOK FOR IT. SOUTH TRIMBLE
2:27:28 SCOOTS HOME AND THE FIREFIGHTERS have
2:27:30 won the inning, win the point. SOUTH
2:27:33 TRIMBLE JUST DROPPED AN elbow at the
2:27:34 plate. It's now a two-one lead for the
2:27:37 Firefighters.
2:27:39 But it very well could be a two-two game
2:27:43 going into the ninth because of the
2:27:45 equalizer point. Let's take a peek at it
2:27:47 right here.
2:27:49 So the Firefighters have five trick
2:27:51 plays. They need to get at least two to
2:27:53 negate the equalizer point as of now.
2:27:57 The Clowns have seven. If the
2:27:58 Firefighters in this defensive half of
2:28:01 the inning,
2:28:02 if they do not get more than two trick
2:28:04 plays or just two trick plays, the
2:28:06 Clowns win the point. And so this would
2:28:08 be a two-two game
2:28:09 going into the bottom of the eighth.
2:28:12 Again, the equalizer point is given to
2:28:14 the visiting team if they have more
2:28:16 trick plays than the home team
2:28:19 >> [cheering]
2:28:19 >> after the final full inning before the
2:28:22 final inning.
2:28:23 Again, that clock is ticking down real
2:28:25 close.
2:28:26 THERE'S A TIP DRILL AND A DOUBLE TRICK
2:28:28 PLAY!
2:28:30 >> [cheering]
2:28:33 >> CALL THEM BOTH [screaming] IN!
2:28:35 >> [cheering]
2:28:36 >> WORLD'S FASTEST PEANUT ON THE TIP DRILL
2:28:39 AND LACEY BETWEEN THE LEGS. AND JUST
2:28:43 LIKE THAT, THE EQUALIZER POINT IS TIED!
2:28:56 Home team cannot win that extra point.
2:28:58 They can only deny it to the visiting
2:29:00 team. [music] And right now, if the
2:29:01 Fighters can do that here, and there are
2:29:04 seven trick plays apiece.
2:29:08 That's massive. 3-1 count to Nico
2:29:10 Holsizer. Ball four sprint would hurt
2:29:12 that cause.
2:29:14 That's a great pitch from Ben Dunn.
2:29:16 Backed off Holsizer, it's a 3-2 full
2:29:18 count.
2:29:20 Into the sky.
2:29:22 Fans have any play on it?
2:29:24 Doesn't look like it.
2:29:33 We'll do the full count again. HOLSIZER
2:29:35 LAUNCHES ONE IN THE CENTER FIELD.
2:29:37 ARMANDO'S GOING TO HAVE TO GET ON HIS
2:29:38 HORSE. OFF THE TOP OF THE WALL, IT'S A
2:29:41 DOUBLE AT LEAST.
2:29:43 HOLSIZER swinging a heavy bat tonight.
2:29:47 Two-run homer, and now a double.
2:29:51 That's a big one for the Clowns now.
2:29:53 >> [cheering]
2:29:54 >> Runner in scoring position, just one
2:29:56 away.
2:29:58 Correlle Prime up to bat.
2:30:01 That clock is becoming a factor. 6
2:30:03 minutes and counting.
2:30:06 If the clock were to run out now
2:30:12 It's Prime.
2:30:13 Can somebody help the Firefighters
2:30:15 cause? No, EJ not fast enough to get
2:30:17 over there.
2:30:17 >> If the clock were to run out now I
2:30:19 believe we'd [music] go back to what it
2:30:21 was, the trick play count
2:30:23 in the seventh inning, and the Clowns
2:30:25 would have been up 7 to 5. So, they
2:30:27 would get it. Dunn trying for the trick
2:30:29 pitch strikeout. Won't happen.
2:30:34 Remember, these two teams played just an
2:30:35 eight-inning game in Montgomery day two
2:30:38 because there were so many runs. This
2:30:39 Ben runs a slider inside.
2:30:44 If the trick plays were not high there
2:30:45 either.
2:30:47 Prime. Prime position for a trick play.
2:30:50 EJ underneath.
2:30:52 Tip drill. TINY UNDER [screaming] THE
2:30:54 LEGS. DOUBLE TRICK PLAY. DOUBLE TRICK
2:30:57 PLAY.
2:31:00 AND THE FIGHTERS ARE UP 9-7 IN THE TRICK
2:31:02 PLAY COLUMN.
2:31:10 Huge trick play outs being recorded in
2:31:13 front of your very eyes.
2:31:15 If Chris Burge is though can find a
2:31:17 barrel, flashes at second.
2:31:23 Beautiful slider.
2:31:26 Ben one pitch away from getting out.
2:31:30 Again, goes back to the slider, and
2:31:31 again, Burge just slides out of the way.
2:31:38 OH, HE GOT HIM.
2:31:42 SHUTS DOWN SIDE THE BLACK. BEN DUNN
2:31:45 PUMPS HIS FIST. RUNNER STRANDED.
2:31:50 A WORLD'S FASTEST INNING ON DECK HERE.
2:31:53 Gage Voorhees to the mound. The
2:31:55 Firefighters have put nine trick plays
2:31:57 on the board. Back-to-back
2:31:59 double trick plays to take the lead in
2:32:02 that column.
2:32:03 Now, if you're the Fire and Flames
2:32:05 [music]
2:32:06 I raise this question as we sing home.
2:32:08 Do you strike out three times in a row?
2:32:14 By the way, world's [music] fastest is
2:32:15 supposed to be that we are just moving
2:32:18 right along here, but we're singing
2:32:19 home.
2:32:20 Means that we're supposed to be going
2:32:21 quick. Not a lot of warm-up pitches.
2:32:23 >> [music]
2:32:24 >> But that has not been communicated. So,
2:32:26 we play on.
2:32:40 Hello, Gage Voorhees.
2:32:43 It's good to see you. Former
2:32:44 Firefighter, by the way, who again was
2:32:47 here in 2024 for that electric win in
2:32:49 Greenville, South Carolina. Last year
2:32:51 spent it with the Bananas. Now comes in
2:32:53 really trying to move him to the closer
2:32:56 >> [music]
2:32:56 >> with Nick Wilson sort of sliding up into
2:32:58 that starter spot.
2:32:59 They'll try Gage out in the back half of
2:33:01 [music] the back couple of innings
2:33:04 of this rotation. He was done pretty
2:33:06 dirty by the Firefighters in Montgomery,
2:33:08 Alabama. Nine-run inning started by him.
2:33:13 Now, he goes up against Eric Jones Jr.,
2:33:15 former catcher. If EJ, by the way,
2:33:17 plants one into the seats or can get a
2:33:20 run across
2:33:22 the equalizer points tonight.
2:33:25 So, for the Firefighters, you have to be
2:33:27 very careful.
2:33:28 What do you swing at?
2:33:30 Can you make sure it's hard contact?
2:33:35 Are you swinging at balls? And that one,
2:33:37 no. Ball four sprint on the table. EJ
2:33:39 single, RBI single. Steal of first base
2:33:42 or two, that's Logan Lansing. And he
2:33:44 gets his second ball four sprints.
2:33:48 EJ has not been retired tonight. That
2:33:50 beautiful mustachioed man
2:33:52 is aboard at first. And by the way, look
2:33:54 at the clock, folks. It's at 2:55.
2:33:57 If the Firefighters get this game going
2:33:59 any longer
2:34:01 we might end it at eight.
2:34:03 If they slow play this thing
2:34:06 it could be trouble. But Darian McDowell
2:34:07 is not a slow player. If you saw his
2:34:09 batting practice earlier
2:34:11 you'd be amazed at what he did. He put a
2:34:14 ball over the Greenville Drive neon sign
2:34:17 on the building across the street.
2:34:19 The sign atop the building. Voorhees.
2:34:22 Boy, that's a beautiful slider, but it
2:34:24 did not go anywhere near the zone.
2:34:29 McDowell.
2:34:30 Good check. Chris Burge is, by the way,
2:34:33 replacing Joe Lidle behind the plate.
2:34:37 Darian up to the stars. A double trick
2:34:39 play ties up
2:34:41 that category. VASQUEZ. OH, THEY LOST
2:34:44 IT. NO COMMUNICATION,
2:34:46 BUT THERE IS A FORCE OUT.
2:34:49 >> [cheering]
2:34:49 >> ZACK PHILLIPS WAS RUNNING AT FIRST
2:34:52 for Eric Jones Jr.
2:34:55 He couldn't go.
2:34:58 NO, THEY CALLED HIM SAFE.
2:35:03 I could have sworn they called him out,
2:35:04 but instead, no, THEY CALLED HIM SAFE.
2:35:06 ZACK PHILLIPS HAS STAYED at second.
2:35:13 Peanut, if this falls, IT WOULD DENY THE
2:35:15 EQUALIZER POINT.
2:35:17 Nico grabs it up. Tip drill.
2:35:21 Philly moves to third.
2:35:24 It is an 8-9 game
2:35:28 in terms of trick plays, but the
2:35:30 Firefighters
2:35:31 have a runner 90 feet from home.
2:35:34 They have the lead in the trick play
2:35:35 column. They do this, it's over in terms
2:35:38 of the equalizer point.
2:35:39 They need to ensure no double trick
2:35:41 plays. Clowns can get one more. It
2:35:43 doesn't matter.
2:35:46 Does not matter.
2:35:49 By the way, we are at a minute.
2:35:54 Gage Voorhees has got to go.
2:35:56 If Lamar puts this in play or elongates
2:35:58 this at bat anymore it's going to be
2:36:00 over, BUT HE STRIKES OUT.
2:36:10 D-MAN.
2:36:11 RIGHT TO JAYLEN VASQUEZ.
2:36:15 AND IT'S NOT A TRICK PLAY.
2:36:17 AND SO, WITH 30 SECONDS TO SPARE
2:36:20 WE'RE GOING TO go to the ninth.
2:36:22 But the equalizer point is denied, and
2:36:24 so the Fighters go into the ninth with a
2:36:27 one-point
2:36:29 lead.
2:36:32 Unreal.
2:36:36 Taz Egan is explaining the final inning
2:36:39 rules.
2:36:41 It's a 2-1 game.
2:36:46 Again, the final rule The final inning
2:36:48 brings across these rules. Every run now
2:36:50 counts as a point. So, if the Clowns can
2:36:53 put up two in this one, they have a 3-2
2:36:55 lead going to the bottom half. If they
2:36:56 put up nothing, this game is over.
2:36:58 The clock ran to 30 seconds, but Jaylen
2:37:02 Vasquez books us a ninth inning.
2:37:05 >> [cheering]
2:37:09 >> Absolute chaos has broken out in
2:37:11 Greenville, South Carolina.
2:37:14 Trick plays are now for the love of the
2:37:16 game, and so is this.
2:37:42 >> [music]
2:37:46 [singing]
2:37:50 [music]
2:37:58 [music]
2:38:05 [music]
2:38:13 >> Well, Johnny Hummel, you can't say he's
2:38:15 not committed.
2:38:16 That man has dyed his hair blonde.
2:38:19 One half of the Clowns.
2:38:23 >> [cheering]
2:38:28 [cheering]
2:38:29 >> But make no mistake about it.
2:38:31 He might be light in the hair now, he is
2:38:33 not light on the mound.
2:38:35 Against the Texas Tailgaters in the
2:38:37 Banana Ball Open, he was sensational.
2:38:40 Against the Party Animals in game two of
2:38:43 Albuquerque. He was sensational. Two
2:38:46 scoreless innings of work.
2:38:48 And then a Showdown Shutout and probably
2:38:51 what should have been multiple Showdown
2:38:53 Shutouts
2:38:54 against the Party Animals.
2:38:56 But he was incredible
2:38:58 in that series.
2:39:00 Couple of strikeouts, his first of the
2:39:02 year, really in succession.
2:39:05 Three Ks, two scoreless innings, a
2:39:07 Showdown Shutout.
2:39:09 Now he comes up as the closer for the
2:39:11 Firefighters.
2:39:12 A save opportunity on the line for the
2:39:15 Lightning from Lexington.
2:39:17 And the man with two colors in his hair.
2:39:21 The Jeff Hardy music has hit.
2:39:23 Mason Maxwell is on the sidelines
2:39:25 dancing like his life depends on it.
2:39:28 I would love to see a shot of that.
2:39:32 Jared Donaldson has joined him. AND
2:39:34 KIRKLAND BANKS, THERE THEY ARE,
2:39:35 [screaming]
2:39:36 IS AT THE PLATE.
2:39:37 THE hard-throwing Hummel starts the
2:39:39 inning off
2:39:42 >> [cheering]
2:39:43 >> with a high one.
2:39:45 Another high one.
2:39:55 Three straight high ones for Johnny.
2:39:57 Again, this is sometimes the issue with
2:39:59 the walk-up, not the issue, but it can
2:40:01 be the trade-off with the issues. You
2:40:02 might not get exactly the easiest
2:40:03 warm-up because you're so focused on the
2:40:05 walk-up. There is the pitching one. It's
2:40:08 a 3-1 count.
2:40:15 JB Ooh, he thought it was a ball four
2:40:17 sprint, but Johnny works it back full.
2:40:21 Hummel has come up in big situations,
2:40:23 remember.
2:40:24 Closed out THE WIN IN MONTGOMERY AND
2:40:26 FROM A 3-0 COUNT, HE STRIKES HIM OUT.
2:40:30 BIG ONE
2:40:32 FOR LIGHTNING.
2:40:33 All the music.
2:40:35 WE'RE GETTING GOLDEN IN GREENVILLE.
2:40:43 Golden batter rule.
2:40:45 Batting in place for Dale Francis Jr. IS
2:40:48 YOUR GOLDEN BATTER. JACKIE BRADLEY JR.
2:40:55 SO WHAT about this?
2:40:59 Back in Greenville, South Carolina. The
2:41:02 former member of the Greenville Drive,
2:41:05 one of the greatest in the University of
2:41:07 South Carolina baseball program history,
2:41:11 steps in as the golden AP
2:41:13 against one of the best closers in the
2:41:16 sport.
2:41:17 And look at that, immediately Johnny
2:41:19 gets him full. Dalton having a little
2:41:21 slow time going back to get it.
2:41:26 Marshall Shield doing shoulder presses
2:41:28 on the side.
2:41:32 Remember, ninth inning, final inning.
2:41:35 Every run counts as a point.
2:41:40 Clowns need JBJ to do something
2:41:43 productive. The next AB is Jay- Jaylen
2:41:45 Vasquez, which again, think about the
2:41:48 stories. The first time these teams
2:41:50 played this season, Jaylen Vasquez took
2:41:53 a pin down fastball and sent it over the
2:41:56 wall in right field for a game-winning
2:41:58 homer.
2:42:01 There's a lot of stuff happening here.
2:42:05 DC3 a little slow on the draw here.
2:42:12 Right back UP THE MIDDLE, JBJ'S ABOARD.
2:42:15 The golden AP works to perfection. And
2:42:17 now
2:42:19 the lefty who played at North Greenville
2:42:22 Next up, number two, Jaylen Vasquez.
2:42:26 >> home
2:42:28 after going home just a with a couple
2:42:31 weekends ago
2:42:33 with a chance to really make his name
2:42:35 with the Clowns.
2:42:37 But he pops up.
2:42:40 Armando calling everybody off in center
2:42:42 field. They do NOT NEED A TRICK PLAY and
2:42:44 he goes about it the old-fashioned way.
2:42:47 Runner on first is JBJ. And Joe Gray Jr.
2:42:52 has reached on a ball four sprint, a
2:42:55 single.
2:43:12 He's reached on a ball four sprint, a
2:43:13 single, also a fielder's choice. He was
2:43:15 able to get on first.
2:43:17 Dalton stops that one from going. Man,
2:43:19 Dalton has had some tough plays tonight
2:43:20 behind the backstop.
2:43:23 Dale Francis Jr. is now the runner at
2:43:25 first because JBJ is due up second in
2:43:28 the lineup. So he's next if Joe Gray
2:43:31 gets aboard.
2:43:32 1-0, swinging, 1-1.
2:43:37 Johnny Hummel has two saves on the year.
2:43:43 His third could be huge.
2:43:46 Ooh, it's tantalizing.
2:44:00 BIG SWING. CLOWNS DOWN TO THEIR LAST
2:44:03 STRIKE.
2:44:08 We [screaming] had 30 seconds to play
2:44:09 with before this inning, but we got the
2:44:11 ninth in. Can Johnny send us home?
2:44:16 No, HE CAN'T. INTO THE DIRT. DALE
2:44:17 FRANCIS IS ON HIS WAY TO SECOND AND
2:44:19 THAT'S MASSIVE.
2:44:21 Cuz that's ball three.
2:44:23 Ball four sprint is going to tie this
2:44:25 game up.
2:44:28 Johnny has to put one in the zone.
2:44:32 Whatever he trusts the most, he's got to
2:44:34 have it here.
2:44:44 >> [cheering]
2:44:45 >> Three balls, two strikes,
2:44:47 TWO OUTS.
2:44:49 BALL FOUR SPRINT.
2:44:51 CLOWNS ARE GOING TO TIE THE GAME.
2:44:53 >> [cheering]
2:44:58 [applause]
2:44:59 [cheering]
2:45:04 >> And now right back up to the dish is JBJ
2:45:07 who we just saw with a golden AB
2:45:09 hit a single right back up the middle.
2:45:10 This is a fresh ball game for the
2:45:12 Clowns.
2:45:14 Joe Gray is at first with his second
2:45:16 ball four sprint. Johnny throws in
2:45:18 strike one.
2:45:20 If there's anybody that knows how to
2:45:22 play that wall in left field, it's the
2:45:25 guy at the plate.
2:45:27 Healthy lead for Joe Gray at first.
2:45:30 Johnny's just got to get the team back
2:45:32 to the dugout. There's two away.
2:45:34 A 1-1 count.
2:45:38 Bouncer. Tiny is there. THROW TO FIRST,
2:45:41 WE ARE GOING TO THE BOTTOM OF THE NINTH.
2:45:44 >> [cheering]
2:45:45 >> So the ball four sprint ties us up.
2:45:47 But the Firefighters have a shot.
2:45:54 Caz Egan hyping the crowd up.
2:45:58 This is what Banana Ball is truly all
2:46:00 about.
2:46:01 After the Firefighters by a nat's nose
2:46:04 ties and denies the equalizer point
2:46:08 because of trick plays.
2:46:09 >> [screaming]
2:46:11 [cheering]
2:46:12 >> The Clowns go into the top of the ninth
2:46:14 and they get one across.
2:46:17 And now the Firefighters
2:46:21 will send
2:46:23 Mason Maxwell, Noah Bridges, and Tyner
2:46:25 Hughes as the batters due up. Gage
2:46:27 Voorhees is out.
2:46:30 He got
2:46:31 a fresh inning and the lights are out.
2:47:08 >> [cheering]
2:47:15 [music]
2:47:29 >> Leading off the bottom of the final
2:47:32 inning,
2:47:33 number three, Dalton
2:47:36 Santana. That was lovely.
2:47:39 The lights just going out
2:47:43 for Sam.
2:47:46 But the music is golden.
2:47:50 WE'RE DOING THIS AGAIN. THE golden
2:47:52 batter rule. Hitting in the place of
2:47:55 Mason Maxwell. Make some noise for DC3,
2:48:01 Dalton Cornett.
2:48:03 >> [screaming]
2:48:04 >> WELL, WELL, WELL.
2:48:08 >> [cheering]
2:48:08 >> AS ENTER Sandman plays in the
2:48:11 background,
2:48:13 it is the Sandman
2:48:15 of clutch situations that steps into the
2:48:17 batter's box in place of Mason Maxwell.
2:48:21 Dalton Cornett, the winner in Showdowns
2:48:24 against the Savannah Bananas [music]
2:48:26 in a winner-take-all in the World Tour
2:48:29 Championships one year ago.
2:48:32 Two weekends ago, the Showdown winner
2:48:34 against the Party Animals in
2:48:35 Albuquerque.
2:48:37 And now goes up against Gage Fourhees
2:48:40 with a shot to win it here.
2:48:42 Looks at two outside. One was in the
2:48:44 zone, one is not.
2:48:48 Noah Bridges in the on-deck circle.
2:48:52 Looked like the exact same spot, but
2:48:53 it's a one-two count.
2:48:55 DC3 has yet to take the lumber off the
2:48:58 shoulders.
2:49:01 And that slider goes inside on the hands
2:49:03 and it'll remain a one-two count.
2:49:12 Can DC3 do it here?
2:49:16 Slaps it into left field. JBJ [cheering]
2:49:19 got a track on it.
2:49:21 And he'll haul it in for out one. The
2:49:22 Golden AB is sit down.
2:49:26 >> [cheering]
2:49:31 >> So now it's Noah.
2:49:34 He has a walk-off game winner on his
2:49:38 resume. That was last year in Salem,
2:49:40 Virginia.
2:49:45 He doesn't need the winner here, but he
2:49:46 does need to get on base with one down.
2:49:49 Tyner Hughes is on deck.
2:49:54 Quick two-oh count
2:49:55 for Mr. Bridges who already has a
2:49:57 two-base ball four sprint
2:49:59 on his ledger tonight.
2:50:01 That time to look at strike one.
2:50:03 Gage working quickly.
2:50:05 Had a clean eighth inning.
2:50:10 But it's a three-one count. You think
2:50:11 about the fact the Firefighters left a
2:50:13 runner on third in the bottom of the
2:50:15 eighth. This game would have been over.
2:50:17 Noah wanted that one.
2:50:20 If they could have brought Zach Phillips
2:50:22 home, the game was over.
2:50:24 But a ball four sprint will GIVE NOAH A
2:50:26 CHANCE.
2:50:28 HE WANTS TWO.
2:50:30 HE'S GOING TO GET TWO. SLIDING IN.
2:50:35 AND NOW ALL TYNER Hughes has got to do
2:50:38 is send one into the outfield. He does
2:50:40 that, Noah's going home. He's too
2:50:42 confident in his speed.
2:50:45 Tiny gets on with no run scored.
2:50:48 It's Dalton Cornett going right back up
2:50:50 to the dish.
2:50:52 That's the beauty of the Golden AB.
2:50:55 What does Tyner Hughes have for you?
2:50:58 A patient eye. Ball one.
2:51:06 Boy, Tiny didn't like it. With strike
2:51:09 one.
2:51:11 We are seeing the outside zone getting
2:51:13 called tonight from Andrew Gerard.
2:51:17 TINY, HOT SHOT TO KIRKLAND.
2:51:19 HE LOVES IT. OH, IT'S A PICKOFF PLAY AND
2:51:22 NOAH'S TAGGED OUT.
2:51:27 He fooled him on the throw over to first
2:51:29 and Noah
2:51:31 is tagged out third.
2:51:37 Dalton Cornett doesn't know he's up.
2:51:42 DC3's got to get a helmet and bat.
2:51:58 DC3
2:52:01 right back up. Fly out to JBJ on the
2:52:04 Golden AB. Chopper foul.
2:52:15 This is a game of what could have beens.
2:52:17 Could the Clowns have kept it scoreless
2:52:19 in the bottom of the first?
2:52:21 Dalton, screamer.
2:52:25 Zach Phillips, quick reflexes.
2:52:27 What if the Firefighters had brought
2:52:29 home Zach Phillips on third in the
2:52:31 bottom of the eighth? What if the Clowns
2:52:33 could have found that extra trick play?
2:52:37 Oh-two.
2:52:39 Cornett into the seats.
2:52:42 Foul.
2:52:43 Remember last week D-Mac
2:52:46 was caught
2:52:47 by the fans to send us to showdowns.
2:52:50 DC3 has a ground rule double
2:52:53 on his ledger tonight.
2:52:55 Stays alive. Gritty AB.
2:53:01 >> [screaming]
2:53:10 >> Pickoff. Safe.
2:53:20 Working quick. High.
2:53:22 Now a ball four sprint becomes
2:53:23 interesting.
2:53:24 But we're not close to that yet, so I
2:53:26 won't breach it
2:53:28 just at this time.
2:53:30 Gage slowing it down.
2:53:34 DC gets that club HEAD OUT THERE. INTO
2:53:36 LEFT CENTER FIELD. TINY'S AROUND
2:53:38 [screaming] SECOND. HE'S GOING TO THIRD.
2:53:41 HE'S COMING HOME. AT THE TRACK, DALTON
2:53:44 CORNETT HAS WALKED IT OFF IN GREENVILLE.
2:53:49 >> [cheering]
2:53:57 >> HE WAS GOLDEN WHEN HE ABSOLUTELY HAD TO
2:54:00 BE.
2:54:02 GOT THAT BAT OUT THERE. SENT IT TO LEFT
2:54:04 CENTER FIELD. TYNER HUGHES RACED LIKE HE
2:54:07 WAS SHOT OUT OF A CANNON. GOT HOME AND
2:54:11 THE FIREFIGHTERS HAVE WON.
2:54:14 >> [cheering]
2:54:15 >> The grittiest team IN SPORTS
2:54:17 CONTINUES TO SHOW THEIR MOXIE.
2:54:21 DALTON CORNETT IS SHIRTLESS
2:54:24 AND FOR GOOD REASON.
2:54:27 SOUND THE SIRENS OF VICTORY ALL ACROSS
2:54:31 GREENVILLE TONIGHT.
2:54:43 GIVE HIM THE FIRE.
2:54:56 >> [music]
2:55:06 >> What can you say [cheering] about this
2:55:09 Firefighters squad?
2:55:10 They just find ways to win.
2:55:15 Ladies and gentlemen, with this Dalton
2:55:17 Cornett hit, the Firefighters have won
2:55:20 the most games they ever have on a world
2:55:23 tour. Seven. Eclipses the six from 2025
2:55:28 and the four from 2024.
2:55:31 IT WASN'T PERFECTLY STRUCK, BUT IT WAS
2:55:33 SENT IN THE PERFECT SPOT.
2:55:35 And Dalton Cornett
2:55:38 what CAN YOU SAY ABOUT THAT MAN IN
2:55:40 PRESSURE SITUATIONS?
2:55:43 He just scraps and finds ways to win.
2:55:47 In a game of what ifs
2:55:51 becomes a winner for the Firefighters.
2:55:54 DALTON CORNETT HAS PUT HIS JERSEY BACK
2:55:56 ON. THE WHOLE FIREFIGHTERS HAVE
2:55:57 SURROUNDED HIM. MICHAEL SCHWARTZ and his
2:56:00 >> Hey Dalton, your girlfriend may get mad
2:56:02 at me for asking this. How are you so
2:56:04 hot right now?
2:56:06 I don't know. My family's here, man. I
2:56:08 just wanted to show out for them and
2:56:10 they're up in the stands watching right
2:56:11 now, so Can we see them?
2:56:14 Hi mom. Hi guys. Hi everybody. What did
2:56:17 you see tonight in this? We have the
2:56:19 open. We didn't clinch, but what was the
2:56:21 mindset of you still need to earn a spot
2:56:24 if you guys want to compete? And let me
2:56:25 tell you, it's historic right now for
2:56:27 you guys. Yeah, I mean the boys are hot,
2:56:29 you know, we're we're coming in swinging
2:56:30 and the bats are are really hot right
2:56:32 now, so that's why we're hot. We're hot.
2:56:35 HI BABY. LET ME TELL YOU, I REALLY I
2:56:37 REALLY like meeting you guys at home
2:56:38 plate. Hey, we have a live kid question
2:56:41 of the game. If you want to ask your
2:56:43 question, say your name. Bella. What's
2:56:45 your question? [music]
2:56:47 What's your favorite football team? What
2:56:48 is your favorite football team? The
2:56:50 Cincinnati Bengals.
2:56:52 All right. Cincinnati Bengals. Hey, what
2:56:54 what are you guys GOING TO DO NEXT?
2:56:55 WHERE are you guys going now?
2:56:58 IT DOESN'T MATTER. IT DOESN'T MATTER.
2:57:00 ZACH, IT DOESN'T MATTER.
2:57:02 IT DOESN'T MATTER.
2:57:04 I'M SURPRISED I didn't hear we we ought
2:57:05 TO GET OUT OF JAIL.
2:57:07 BUT WE DO HAVE A GOOD OFFENSE. DALTON
2:57:09 Cornett tonight was simply unreal.
2:57:12 Four for six, two doubles
2:57:15 and a triple and most importantly, the
2:57:18 game-winning
2:57:20 hit.
2:57:21 That man is an all-star.
2:57:23 Make no mistake about it.
2:57:26 He just finds ways. And by the way, he's
2:57:28 doing this with a hand that wasn't
2:57:30 exactly the healthiest [music] tonight.
2:57:34 He caught all nine innings
2:57:37 and found a lot of ways to make a lot of
2:57:39 winning plays for the Firefighters when
2:57:41 they desperately had to.
2:57:43 Dalton Cornett
2:57:44 the showman of the night
2:57:47 for so many reasons. For the play
2:57:51 for the hit
2:57:55 and for what he did at the catcher's
2:57:57 spot as we welcome you back up here
2:57:59 to Greenville, South Carolina. The
2:58:01 showman of the night, DC3.
2:58:04 >> [music]
2:58:04 >> They've done it again, folks. An
2:58:05 offensive masterpiece for these two
2:58:07 teams. The score two to three.
2:58:09 Nine runs for each team. 12 hits for
2:58:12 each team. The separator truly the trick
2:58:16 play equalizer points.
2:58:18 The Firefighters denying that and that
2:58:20 is the biggest reason they just walked
2:58:21 it off in three-two fashion. Both of
2:58:24 these teams are hitting with fire in
2:58:27 their hands and more importantly an
2:58:29 inferno in their eyes as we welcome you
2:58:31 back up here inside the dispatch center.
2:58:33 Folks, I can't think I've got a headache
2:58:35 cuz I have been outside my mind over the
2:58:37 last couple of hours. What a game to be
2:58:39 with you here in Greenville, South
2:58:41 Carolina. Look, the Firefighters, say
2:58:44 what you will about them. It might not
2:58:45 be the prettiest, but it is the darn
2:58:47 sure most effective. [music] They are,
2:58:49 yes, the hottest team in sports and they
2:58:51 continue that. They have now won nine of
2:58:54 their last 11 since they started 0 and
2:58:57 3.
2:58:58 This is a team that has found their
2:59:00 confidence. They have found their pride.
2:59:02 They have found their swing and then
2:59:04 some. Bradford Webb [music] didn't have
2:59:06 his best stuff tonight. He still found a
2:59:08 way to hand it over in prime fashion.
2:59:11 Johnny Hummel didn't have his best stuff
2:59:12 tonight, but he found a way to hand it
2:59:14 over in prime fashion. And then Dalton
2:59:16 Cornett.
2:59:17 The man's going to be in the MVP
2:59:19 conversation when this year is done. I'm
2:59:20 calling it right now. And a night like
2:59:22 tonight, [music] four for six with a
2:59:23 game-winning double is exactly the
2:59:25 reason why. He had a golden AB
2:59:26 appearance, it didn't go the way he
2:59:28 wanted to, it did not matter. He goes
2:59:30 right back up there and goes golden when
2:59:32 he needed to. What a game here in
2:59:34 Greenville, South Carolina. The
2:59:36 Indianapolis Clowns were game, but the
2:59:38 Firefighters, the hottest team in
2:59:39 sports,
2:59:40 but they are the prettiest team in
2:59:42 banana ball and I will put [music] my
2:59:43 name to that. The Firefighters
2:59:45 continuing to make history here. As we
2:59:48 go on to the next couple of weekends
2:59:50 here or next couple of nights here in
2:59:52 Greenville, South Carolina. By the way,
2:59:53 I said they won nine of their last 11,
2:59:55 they've won seven of their last nine.
2:59:57 They have seven wins. I'm
2:59:59 I can't believe what I just saw.
3:00:01 Unbelievable stuff here in Greenville,
3:00:03 South Carolina. A special thanks to all
3:00:05 [music] the great people who have made
3:00:06 this broadcast come to you led by our
3:00:08 outstanding producer Chad with
3:00:10 Folkstead, our great director Alex
3:00:12 Brose, our technical producer Josh
3:00:14 Richardson, [music] the guy calling the
3:00:16 shots down on the field, the Sheriff
3:00:18 Garrett DeClue, our official scorekeeper
3:00:20 here in the booth with me tonight, Blake
3:00:21 O'Herron. Folks, what a game. Can you
3:00:24 imagine what's in store the next two
3:00:25 nights here in the Palmetto State? For
3:00:27 our great crew here on site in South
3:00:29 Carolina, for Michael Schwartz and his
3:00:30 eye black down on the field, I'm Zack
3:00:32 Staten. WE'LL SEE YOU TOMORROW HERE IN
3:00:35 SOUTH CAROLINA. THE FIGHTERS WIN IT 3-2
3:00:38 IN UNBELIEVABLE FASHION. I'M ZACK
3:00:41 STATEN. UNTIL NEXT TIME, REMEMBER
3:00:44 FIRE UP!
