Savannah Bananas vs Firefighters in Savannah, Georgia (Game 2)

📝 Full transcript (3452 segments)

0:10 Yeah, I'm really excited about this

0:13 weekend.

0:13 >> Definitely, you know, got that little

0:15 chip on the shoulder. It's going to be a

0:17 definitely um different.

0:19 >> Before 2026, Jared Donaldson, Eric Jones

0:22 Jr., and Zach Phillips had spent their

0:24 whole banana ball careers wearing

0:26 yellow. I played with the same core

0:28 group of guys for probably say four

0:30 years. Um, so yeah, it's definitely uh

0:32 been a big blessing.

0:38 >> So when they found out they'd be making

0:39 the move to the firefighters, it was

0:42 understandably met with a mixed bag of

0:44 emotions.

0:45 >> Initially, it hurt a little bit. I kind

0:47 of expected. I wasn't sure.

0:49 >> I didn't get drafted and I didn't get

0:50 franchised. I went in the second day, so

0:53 I have a chip on my shoulder, but I'm

0:55 just going to let uh you know what I do

0:56 out there do the talking.

0:58 >> And it's fair to say they've already

1:00 started to do just that.

1:02 >> Home runs on base and he loads one to

1:04 left field on his first swing with the

1:07 firefighters. EJ pumps it. Donnie right

1:11 down the middle

1:12 >> now as they prepare to face their former

1:14 team for the first time. They're all

1:16 approaching it in their own way. Yes,

1:19 I'm excited for it, but I'm approaching

1:21 it just like it's any other game. You

1:22 know, if I focus on the things that I

1:24 need to do to be successful, it's going

1:26 to work out well.

1:27 >> Bill does know my signs. I haven't

1:29 changed my signs and I don't think I

1:31 will. So, I mean, all they know a fast

1:34 ball's coming and then another fast

1:35 ball's coming and, you know, I might mix

1:37 it up here and there, but I'm I'm really

1:38 excited for this weekend.

1:39 >> I don't know if I'm going to be able to

1:40 keep a straight face of some of these

1:41 guys like Todd Jackson up there like

1:42 hitting.

1:43 >> Don't laugh at me. I'm a real baseball

1:45 player.

1:48 I don't know what like I don't know what

1:49 that's going to contain. Like I feel

1:50 like just getting on the mound, seeing

1:52 him in the batters box, I'm probably

1:53 going to I don't even know. But there is

1:55 one thing they're Paul aligned on

1:58 winning.

1:58 >> DJ, he knew it as soon as it left his

2:01 bat.

2:02 >> Any message to to the bananas before you

2:04 go into the weekend? Anything you want

2:05 to say?

2:05 >> Uh go firefighters.

2:11 There is only one unbeaten team in the

2:14 Banana Ball Championship League and they

2:16 face a unique challenge against the

2:18 firefighters this afternoon. The

2:20 Savannah Bananas are the away team. For

2:23 the first time since July 22nd, 2023 in

2:27 Rancho Cukamonga, California, 960 days

2:31 later, the Nanners suit up as the

2:34 visiting team in their home ballpark as

2:36 over 5,500

2:38 fans have packed Stadium for this

2:41 historic showdown. The Bananas are

2:43 hunting a series sweep while the

2:45 firefighters are looking for their first

2:48 win in the BBCL.

2:52 Really a tale of two seasons very early

2:55 on in the Banana Ball Championship

2:57 League. As we welcome you inside with

2:58 Josh Tleski, Zack Stton, I am Bo Scalla.

3:02 Zack, we have to start with you because

3:03 well, this is a historic game for the

3:05 Bananas. It's also the first time that

3:07 the firefighters have ever been the home

3:09 team against the Nanners.

3:10 >> We've only seen it in inter squad

3:12 scrimmages and spring training games.

3:14 The firefighters on the field have the

3:16 home team advantage. Josh, I wonder how

3:18 that changes strategy for the boys in

3:19 black and neon and the yellow bellies.

3:22 >> Well, I'd like to think that things

3:23 don't really change that much for the

3:24 Bananas considering how much this

3:26 pitching staff has led them two games

3:28 into the season. An earned run average

3:30 of two for the Savannah Bananas. And

3:33 they got to continue to try and silence

3:35 these firefighters bats, even playing as

3:38 the visiting squad. Can't wait to see

3:40 how it unfolds tonight. Threeman booth,

3:42 all primary colors represented. Back to

3:44 you, Stton, because we've got to find

3:46 out how can the Firefighters get that

3:49 elusive first win here in 2026.

3:51 >> They're putting themselves in great

3:52 situations, Bo. They're not taking

3:54 advantage of it. They've left four

3:56 runners on third base over their first

3:58 two games. They've got to find a way to

4:00 get that run home, especially now that

4:02 you're the home team. You throw a zero

4:03 up on the top half of the frame, you win

4:06 the inning. You've got to find a way to

4:08 bring runners home on base. You got to

4:10 get the top of the lineup sparked up,

4:11 too. one through five last night against

4:13 the Bananas, one for 19. Logan Lacy,

4:16 Dalton, Cornet, arguably your two most

4:17 consistent hitters, a combined one for

4:20 13. If you can get the top of the frame

4:22 or top of the lineup going, you might

4:24 find a little bit of heat there. Get

4:26 tricky, too. There are trick trick plays

4:28 left on table all over the place for the

4:31 firefighters. You really need to deny

4:33 that equalizer point cuz Josh, I do not

4:35 like the idea of just seating a one lead

4:37 already to the bananas. Yeah, and the

4:39 bananas I know are hungry to try and

4:40 earn that equalizer point and they kind

4:42 of want to show what they can do

4:44 considering they are back in the kilts

4:46 in today's contest. So, they're excited

4:48 for the challenge that that brings them.

4:51 And the bananas in their really young

4:54 banana ball career wearing kilts, have

4:56 had a lot of good success. You see a two

4:58 in one record with all of those games

5:00 coming against the party animals. And

5:02 this team has really hit a 308 team

5:04 batting average, 14 extra base hits in

5:07 those three games. And while the

5:08 pitching numbers have not been quite

5:10 what the Bananas have wanted, they've

5:13 still bashed their way to these

5:14 victories. And when they played as the

5:16 visiting team in Kilts against the Party

5:18 Animals in 2023, they had a 5 to2 win.

5:22 Now, when we get into the Bananas,

5:24 earning the equalizer point, some

5:26 adjustments were made this morning in

5:28 practice. You see Ryan Cox practicing

5:31 behind the back transition rather than

5:34 through the legs. And the exact same

5:36 thing is true for Kyle Jackson who will

5:38 be manning third base in today's

5:41 contest. Each of these guys know that

5:43 kilt the overhang can kind of get in the

5:45 way of your hand transitioning that ball

5:47 through the legs. So, the emphasis is on

5:50 behind the back transitions if they want

5:53 to earn the equalizer point and net

5:55 themselves some extra breathing room if

5:57 they have the lead going into the later

5:59 stages of this game. Big shout out to

6:01 Sam Bowman, our investigative reporter,

6:04 shooting that footage pregame today and

6:07 delivering us that breakdown, as we

6:09 would call it back in the MLB Network

6:10 days, that Mr. Tipsky slammed home. It's

6:13 going to be fascinating to see how the

6:15 Nanners perform their trick plays with

6:18 the added fun of the kilt. The cast and

6:21 crew parading through historic Racing

6:23 Stadium. Great to see the Banana Band

6:26 schnazzy new uniforms for the brass band

6:29 here in Banana Land. Princess Patassia

6:32 and company cranking through with over

6:35 5,500 fans. Supposed to be a 1 p.m.

6:38 start here. We've got a massive rugby

6:40 tournament going on in Daffin Park. So,

6:42 we got pushed back to four. Three banana

6:45 ball games will be going on at one time

6:47 as long as the folks in Memphis and

6:50 Frisco could keep on playing ball all

6:52 the way up to our first pitch right

6:54 around 400 p.m. which we're going to

6:56 have momentarily. But, uh, it's it's

6:59 good to see the wild cast getting some

7:02 up close facetime with the full capacity

7:05 crowd here in our hostess city.

7:20 with our other two games

7:23 going down in the central time zone

7:25 today. 1:00 p.m. start their time, 2:00

7:27 p.m. for us here on the East Coast.

7:29 Quick checking. We're in the seventh

7:31 inning in Memphis.

7:33 Party Animals currently with a 3-2 lead.

7:36 Couple runs on the board, though, trying

7:38 to make it 4-2.

7:40 Indianapolis Clowns will be bringing the

7:42 inning tying run up to the dish with

7:45 just one away. Bobby Leay digging in and

7:48 Coconuts trying to nail down their

7:49 second ever win. CJ Williams on the bump

7:52 with one down in the top of the ninth. A

7:55 reminder, those games going on on the

7:59 Texas Tailgator YouTube channel and the

8:02 Party Animals YouTube channel as we

8:04 speak. I've been getting involved in the

8:06 chats over there throughout the day when

8:08 possible.

8:17 And good to see the chat

8:20 >> in prime season form here on the Bananas

8:24 broadcast as well. The young professor

8:26 introducing said cast and crew. Let's

8:28 get it down to Mr. Prof.

12:08 of man to Tokyo, Japan, the banana

12:11 maniacs come from across the globe to

12:14 witness this. This is not baseball. This

12:19 is the Crucible where the fastest,

12:22 hungriest, and most entertaining players

12:24 are forged. This is a game of the fans,

12:28 by the fans, and for the fans. But this

12:32 is not your granddad's pastime. This is

12:36 not just another night at the ballpark.

12:39 This game is baseball by birth, fruit by

12:42 name, and an absolute worldwide

12:45 phenomenon by the grace of God. This is

12:48 the time for all 5,500

12:51 people here in historic Grayson Stadium

15:30 ask that you please rise if you're able

15:35 America with the singing of today's

15:37 national anthem. Please welcome Savannah

15:39 Joe.

15:42 Oh, say can you see

15:47 by the dawn early

15:51 light

15:53 what so proudly

15:55 we held

15:58 at the twilight

16:01 last gleaming

16:03 who broad stripes and bright stars

16:09 through the peril.

16:12 fight

16:15 or the ramp parts we watch

16:20 were so gallently

16:24 streaming

16:26 and the rockets

16:28 red glare.

16:31 The bombs bursting

16:34 in air

16:37 gave proof through the night

16:42 that our flag was still there.

16:48 Oh saint does that star spangled

16:55 bender

16:56 yet way

17:03 or the land

17:06 of the free

17:14 and the home

17:18 of the

17:20 bra.

17:23 >> Ladies and gentlemen, Savannah Joe.

17:39 Hold on.

17:46 >> Kilts are back and better than ever. It

17:49 is game nine in the young history of the

17:51 Banana Ball Championship League. the

17:53 330th banana ball game ever played and

17:57 it pits the 2 and 0 Savannah Bananas

18:00 son's pants against the 0 and2

18:02 firefighters in this grand finale of a

18:06 sixgame weekend all across Banana land.

18:14 The Nanners a dominant 4-1 victory last

18:17 night. The firefighters the home team

18:19 this afternoon. We'll get a look at

18:21 their defensive alignment. Mo, the first

18:23 thing you want to notice here, Eric

18:24 Jones not in the lineup today. He's away

18:27 from the team for a family event.

18:29 Certainly wish him well there. So, Mason

18:30 Maxwell taking over at first base. The

18:32 first start of the year for Zachary

18:33 Bridges at Catcher. The biggest thing

18:35 for the Firefighters today, we mentioned

18:37 it off the top. Trick plays are of

18:39 massive importance. Peanut Kaden Green

18:41 already four on the year, but he can't

18:42 do it all in his own. They have 10 trick

18:44 plays in the first two games combined.

18:46 Last night, the Bananas had 11 in just

18:49 one game. They got to find a way to get

18:50 Tricky in the field and it'll be easy to

18:52 do with the guy they're pitching or

18:54 they're playing defense behind and Jared

18:56 Donaldelson.

18:56 >> Yeah, Donnie had five trick plays

18:58 himself last year and his fourth year as

19:01 a Savannah Banana after he was a CPL

19:04 nanner the summer of 2022 then to the

19:07 summer series and of course three world

19:10 tours with the Savannah Bananas as well.

19:12 That will be fascinating to see how

19:14 South Trimble factors into the

19:16 firefighters defensive strategy today as

19:19 well as he's their designated fielder.

19:20 >> We might see the disappearing act trick

19:23 out in left field. Lamar Sparks of

19:25 course will bat the designated fielder

19:26 and runner will be smoked out on the

19:28 base pads. He's been planning on trying

19:30 to do a reverse tornado catch trying to

19:32 make a disappearing at catch. We'll see

19:34 what happens. But Jared Donaldelsson for

19:36 the first time against the Danners Boys.

19:38 >> Can't wait to see how it unfolds. Donnie

19:40 was the opening night starter for the

19:42 firefighters last Thursday night in

19:45 Tallahassee. Now he gets to pitch

19:46 against his former squad. Bananas opted

19:49 not to franchise him after the end of

19:51 the 2025 World Tour. Firefighters

19:53 drafted him in the second round of the

19:56 draft last season. And so this is his

19:58 fourth World Tour, but his first with

20:00 the boys in neon today. And for Jared

20:03 Donaldson, 307 and a third innings

20:06 pitched as a Savannah Banana. That's the

20:08 second most in franchise history. So,

20:10 it's a really big loss for the Nanners.

20:13 A big get for the Firefighters and for

20:15 Donaldson. Can't forget also the guy had

20:18 232 strikeouts in his illustrious

20:21 Bananas career, including 63 a season

20:23 ago, the second most on. Let's get a

20:26 gander at the Bananas starting lineup.

20:29 As we mentioned on the pregame show,

20:31 first time they get to be the team since

20:33 July 22nd, 2023. Dr. Meadows at the top

20:37 of this lineup. Henry Seleiatis, Max

20:39 Young Goldberg, Dan Ober's cleaning it

20:41 up, followed by Kyle Jackson, Bill Loy

20:43 Jackson, Olson. The bottom three are

20:45 Robert Anthony Cruz, Ryan Cox, and Danny

20:47 Hosley. And we saw the bananas last

20:49 night in four straight innings earned

20:51 walk-offs against the Firefighters. Dan

20:53 Over, Kyle Jackson had really big at

20:56 bats leading the Bananas to points. And

20:58 you can't forget the bottom of the

21:00 lineup last night. Ryan Cox especially

21:02 had a big impact with his triple and a

21:05 walk-off ball for sprint. The sixth game

21:08 of the weekend in the BBCL is about to

21:11 get its first pitch.

21:13 >> All right, ladies and gentlemen, time we

21:15 get this show started, but we're going

21:17 to need your help. When I count to

21:19 three, I need everyone here as loud as

21:21 you can to say start the clock in 1 2 3.

21:30 Showtime

21:31 >> leading off

21:33 >> mother nature providing a little

21:34 precipitation as we get underway. A

21:36 drizzle as it's a splitter. The first

21:38 pitch from Donnie against his former

21:41 center fielder. And this is a rivalry

21:44 that goes back to the Peach Belt

21:45 Conference. Donaldson the Peach Belt

21:48 pitcher of the year in 2022. Southeast

21:50 region pitcher of the year at that and

21:54 his swan song at Georgia Southwestern

21:56 State. Dr. a rival over at Columbus

21:59 State.

22:01 Only faced a few times. Dr. batting a

22:03 thousand off of Donnie with a couple

22:05 choppers over the third baseman. And

22:07 their banana ball rivalry starts with a

22:10 Donaldson strike out.

22:12 >> He said all week long, this is one of

22:14 those games that you circle on the

22:16 calendar the second you know where

22:17 you're playing. And on the first batter

22:19 he faces, look at that. Breaks out that

22:21 beautiful bender of a slider. Gets Dr.

22:24 Meadows looking. He's going to mix in a

22:25 curveball now that he's learned from his

22:27 new teammate Johnny Hmel. Wonder how

22:29 much he tries to mix it up against the

22:30 guys he's been facing for a couple years

22:31 in practice. Now Reese Alexi

22:35 ball and a strike on the Nanner's right

22:38 fielder.

22:39 Got a quick look at his numbers there.

22:41 Fantastic in his second Banana Ball

22:44 World Tour. This is campaign number

22:46 three for Super Reese. A fixture at the

22:49 top of this lineup.

22:52 All three games this year he's been in

22:55 the two-hole. One for three on the

22:57 season. A couple ball four sprints.

23:01 Wow.

23:02 Looked like it could have been a called

23:04 strike three. Hunter Ives says no. Just

23:06 missed. You know who else thought it was

23:08 a strike three? Jared Donaldson. He was

23:10 halfway off the mound.

23:10 >> Yeah. So did the entire firefighters dug

23:13 out pouring out having some word for

23:15 Ives. But Jared Donaldelson follows up

23:17 that call with a punch out. He's trying

23:20 to calm down his teammates over there in

23:22 the dugout. But this is the exact start

23:25 that Donnie was looking for. Getting the

23:27 whiffs early against Meadows. And now

23:30 Super Reese.

23:34 Maxon Goldberg comes up empty on the

23:37 fast ball. Donis

23:39 trying to strike out the side. He is one

23:42 strike away from just that. Should be no

23:44 surprise. Two scoreless innings last

23:46 Thursday night.

23:49 as that one just misses. Zachary Bridges

23:53 was ready to exit stage left.

24:02 One, two to MJG.

24:05 There it is. Jared Donaldson strikes out

24:08 the side. His first frame against the

24:10 Nanners.

24:13 >> Real stuff from Jared Donaldson. And

24:15 that's 2 minutes and 29 seconds in which

24:18 he strikes out the side against his

24:21 former squad. Cayman with that chip on

24:23 his shoulder. And I'm telling you what,

24:25 he wants to carve these guys up as long

24:27 as the firefighters keep them out there.

24:31 Well, that's a goose egg in emphatic

24:34 style. Quick look at the bananas

24:37 defensive alignment behind Noah Nisnik.

24:39 Left to right in the outfield, it's rack

24:41 DR and Super in the infield. Third to

24:44 first. KJ Cox, Olsen, and Young Goldberg

24:47 with Loy behind the dish. Alex Ziegler

24:49 is the designated fielder for the second

24:51 time this year.

24:52 >> Well, again, the adjustment comes for

24:54 the bananas, not trying maybe as many

24:56 between the legs trick plays as

24:58 infielders, but more so focusing on

25:00 behind the back transitions. And you see

25:03 Alex Ziggler, the designated fielder,

25:05 for a second time this season. He'll

25:07 likely be playing the middle innings at

25:09 first base in place of Max Young

25:11 Goldberg.

25:13 In the middle of it all, it's the

25:15 southpaw out of St. Louis, Missouri.

25:17 Noah Nisnick here in his third world

25:19 tour, the 2024 Rookie of the Year and as

25:23 consistent a starter pitcher as the

25:25 Bananas have had across the last couple

25:27 tours. And in his career, he is 7-0

25:30 pitching against the Firefighters in 14

25:32 games started. has a 3.95

25:35 earned run average against this squad

25:38 and is only allowed 10 ball four sprints

25:41 in 43 and a3 innings pitch. So you see

25:44 Noah Nisnik show his best command when

25:47 pitching against the firefighters.

25:49 >> Let's get a look at the firefighters

25:51 lineup. The lineup starts with Tiner

25:53 Hughes who is called Tiny, but he has

25:55 come up big in multiple situations for

25:57 the firefighters. 286 average in a

25:59 couple of games. Walk-off homer in

26:01 Tallahassee. Kaden Green in the two

26:04 spot. Hadn't batted there since his JO

26:06 days. On the first pitch, he sees Tiner

26:09 goes all the way to the track. Rounding

26:10 first, heading for second. He'll slide

26:13 on easily. And the Firefighters with one

26:16 swing of the bat put a runner in scoring

26:18 position.

26:20 That's the inning run in scoring

26:22 position.

26:24 Couldn't have scripted

26:27 a better first pitch offensively for the

26:29 firefighters as Green is ahead of the

26:32 off speed from Niz Nasty. Peanuts been

26:34 the best bat for the firefighters this

26:36 young year. Three for five, a triple, a

26:38 double.

26:40 A walk-off to boot and now a long run.

26:43 Young Goldberg can't catch up to it.

26:45 Quick 02 count on the firefighter

26:47 shortstop.

26:48 >> Quickly, Bo, this is the key to success

26:50 we talked about right off the top of the

26:52 broadcast. If you can get runners on

26:53 base, you got to bring them home.

26:54 Especially with the zero from Donnie.

26:56 This is a massive sequence here now for

26:58 the boys in the black and neon.

27:02 >> One, two from Niz. Nasty. Fouled away.

27:05 Good job by Peanut to spoil the elevated

27:08 fast. And the firefighters are well

27:10 aware of their shortcomings last night.

27:11 Didn't record a single hit with guys in

27:14 scoring position as Nisnik misses high

27:16 and outside.

27:18 >> Didn't get their first run until the by

27:20 the top of the eighth inning. Took a

27:22 long time to finally get something going

27:23 as Peanut goes right back up the middle.

27:26 Dr. Meadows tip catch right to himself.

27:30 >> That'll move Tiner to third.

27:33 >> Look out. Tiner Hughes as the rains

27:35 coming down. A little slippery on the

27:36 turf. Almost took a tumble. Able to keep

27:39 his feet. So the Bananas strike first in

27:42 the trick play department. But the

27:44 inning winning run 90 ft away now as you

27:47 get another look at the Meadows tip

27:49 drill.

27:51 The frame in the hands of Daltton Cornet

27:53 infield in for the bananas.

27:57 >> The best bat from a year ago for the

27:59 firefighters after his first three tours

28:01 spent with the party animals.

28:07 Trying to give the boys in black and

28:08 neon their first lead of the series.

28:13 Cranked past the dive of MJG and Cornet

28:16 does just that. DC3 in the clutch.

28:19 Firefighters up one nil one inning in.

28:24 >> He hit a few dead on the screws last

28:26 night. Just in the wrong spot this time.

28:29 DC3 in the right place. Tiny climb that

28:32 ladder.

28:34 I want to wave to him, but I can't see

28:36 him. Tiner, just know I love you down

28:38 there.

28:43 That's a massive first inning for the

28:45 firefighters to put up that one. And

28:48 already working on the keys to success.

28:50 The runner on third. DC3 brings him

28:52 home. And now they go to the top of the

28:55 second with a fire hot Jared Donaldson

28:57 on the mound. Bo.

28:58 >> Yeah, he was electric against the top

29:00 three of the Nanners in the top of the

29:02 first. Three men up, three men down

29:05 swinging. And that's three talented

29:08 hitters right there as Jared

29:09 Donaldelsson joins us on the mic from

29:12 the mound. Donnie, how you doing, bro?

29:14 >> What a start to the evening, my friend.

29:16 now.

29:16 >> How are y'all?

29:18 >> Fantastic. How good does it feel to be

29:20 out there competing against so many of

29:22 your friends on the other side of the

29:23 diamond?

29:23 >> Dude, finally getting Dr. Meadows out um

29:25 in all my career of baseball was a great

29:28 feeling. Now,

29:29 >> do you think you could have scripted a

29:31 better start in your first inning of

29:32 work against your former squad? Was

29:34 there anything else that you were

29:35 looking for outside of three punch outs?

29:38 >> Dude, honestly, I don't know. I I think

29:39 that's about

29:43 that. I don't know. That was just

29:44 unbelievable. like the adrenaline. I

29:45 didn't even know what to do after I got

29:46 the guys out.

29:47 >> Yeah. You kept motioning like you were

29:49 trying to calm the bench down. Was that

29:51 you just trying to calm yourself down in

29:52 the moment?

29:53 >> I I think a little bit of both. We uh me

29:55 and G baby were talking about it before

29:56 the game and I think it just kind of

29:59 helping me find my six cuz I know I

30:01 might lost it out there a little bit.

30:04 >> All right. Well, you've got four, five,

30:06 six now.

30:07 >> Come on now. Let's get them over KJ and

30:09 Loy. And how poetic is it, Donnie? The

30:12 last time you wore your lucky sliding

30:14 pants that you had all through college

30:16 was in Baton Rouge 2024. That's the last

30:19 time that the Bananas wore kilts.

30:21 >> Yeah. Um I can uh I think Paul Ske can

30:23 thank me for that. I think that's the

30:24 reason behind all of his success.

30:26 >> You think he boguarded them?

30:27 >> Yeah, he definitely wears those every

30:28 day. He uh he'll probably wear those

30:29 against Mexico tomorrow in the World

30:30 Baseball Classic.

30:32 >> That's got to be the key to his SI Young

30:34 Award.

30:35 >> I mean, I would like to think so.

30:38 Donnie, this uh this past week you went

30:40 back to Georgia Southwestern, threw out

30:42 a little first pitch out there. How'd

30:43 you Was that better than what you just

30:45 did in the first inning,

30:46 >> dude? I don't know. Just a whirlwind of

30:47 emotions. That was unbelievable getting

30:48 to be recognized again. Last time I was

30:49 there was confus championship. That was

30:52 pretty sweet. Did

30:52 >> you go splitter?

30:54 >> Oh yeah. Come on now.

30:58 >> We get to face off against another D2

31:00 warrior. What we got here?

31:08 And Dan puts a good charge into that.

31:12 >> Couple hops up against the fan wall.

31:14 He's thinking three. Relay from Peanut.

31:17 Not in time.

31:22 And Dan Oburst.

31:24 The defending triples champion. Six

31:27 threebaggers in 2025. Has his first

31:30 >> in the Banana Ball Championship League.

31:32 >> Is that a slider there, Down Donnie?

31:34 >> Yeah, it's the middle. should know

31:35 better.

31:40 And now you get the red hot Kyle

31:42 Jackson.

31:45 >> Two for four on the tour. Both hits have

31:47 left the yard.

31:50 Looked like a pretty splitter heavy

31:51 first inning for you.

31:58 >> That's a heck of a take from KJ. That

32:00 was a good looking pitch.

32:07 Oh, is that in?

32:13 >> Nothing from Hunter rides on whether it

32:15 missed inside or a pinch low.

32:19 >> That'll do. How about a three-0

32:21 splitter?

32:22 >> I'll go right back to it.

32:23 >> You're a sick man.

32:29 >> Wow. Just misses.

32:31 >> Is that away? outside.

32:34 Yeah, looks like Hunter I said just a

32:36 pinch out and KJ just ahead of the tag

32:38 from South Trimble. The seventh and

32:40 final firefighters defender

32:43 might be the last time I wear this one

32:44 on the field.

32:45 >> Okay, sounds good.

32:51 >> I don't think South dribble ever really

32:53 got a hold of that one. Ballfor sprint

32:55 defense was really good last night.

32:58 Probably need to do the job a little bit

32:59 more here on a Sunday afternoon.

33:02 The only guy that knows me better than

33:03 me.

33:04 >> Donnie, is it weird to have someone else

33:05 other than Eric Jones catching you? I

33:07 got all the trust in Z. That dude's a

33:09 dog. He uh got here.

33:17 Little Vlog run against Billy Barrels.

33:24 There it is. Oh yeah.

33:26 Tell you what, the splitter looks sharp.

33:31 Slow tapper showtime behind the back

33:34 transfer. ZB head wasn't up. My bad.

33:37 Golly, you got a little too. Hey, that's

33:40 on me.

33:42 Oh, wow. I threw that ball like 37 miles

33:45 an hour. It did the job. Think Billy was

33:48 even surprised by the velocity on that

33:50 one.

33:51 >> What's the plan

33:54 of attack?

33:55 Yeah, that's a pretty good looking

33:56 pitch, Donnie.

33:59 Yep.

34:02 There it is. Ah.

34:05 >> What you want here, Zach? I want to see

34:07 the new curveball, man. If

34:09 >> it's there, let's see it.

34:17 >> Long time to shake to it.

34:23 >> Darren McDow able to haul it in.

34:25 >> All right, now let's work. Come on.

34:26 >> See, I never let you down, Jared

34:28 Donaldson. Hey, good job Stay. Good job,

34:30 Donnie.

34:31 >> All right, let's go.

34:32 >> Also was confused on which Zach he was

34:33 talking to, Zachary Bridges or myself.

34:35 >> Yeah,

34:36 >> I inserted myself in there.

34:37 >> All right, here we go.

34:38 >> Yeah, I don't think Bridges can hear

34:39 him, so

34:40 >> I would hope he couldn't.

34:41 >> I think you're the only Zach who can

34:42 make such a decision.

34:43 >> He also goes by Zachary. I go by Zary.

34:46 Is what it is.

34:50 >> All right, KJ on third. 10 count to

34:52 Robert Anthony Cruz.

34:59 Steady diet splitters. That is Phil.

35:03 >> Your long lost twin Tiner Hughes behind

35:05 you had to scream at that one.

35:08 >> Woo!

35:09 >> Golly, that one ran.

35:10 >> Chase City.

35:12 >> All right, let's do something cool here.

35:15 Sounds good to me.

35:16 >> I like it.

35:20 >> Slow tapper right side. Mason Maxwell

35:23 will grab it in foul territory.

35:26 What you want right here? You're on the

35:27 mic. What you want right here, huh?

35:28 Splitter. Come on.

35:30 >> Missing an actual call in the game now.

35:34 >> Does the drizzle affect the splitter at

35:36 all? It doesn't look like it.

35:37 >> Not hum, but it actually helps a little

35:38 humidity. I think fascinating

35:40 >> like that.

35:41 >> All right, we go Paul splitter

35:44 on his own. Swing this.

35:50 >> That'll do.

35:53 Jared Donaldson, thank you so much for

35:55 getting miked up.

35:56 >> Hey, as I say, chill.

36:00 >> I love chill, Donnie. Great work,

36:02 Donnie.

36:04 >> Guy's a cold blooded killer.

36:06 >> Another look at Donaldson's fourth

36:08 strike out of the ball game. Let's get

36:10 it on down to Sam Bowman.

36:15 >> Of course, the legend himself, Reginald

36:17 Horton. Coach, we've already seen what

36:19 can happen when the Bananas are not the

36:22 home team. We see a walk off from the

36:24 firefighters the first inning. What's

36:25 the mentality for your guys out here

36:27 switching things up?

36:28 >> It's a great question, Sam. Um, seventh

36:31 time that we're playing as the visitors

36:34 and so slightly different dynamic. You

36:36 got to score runs early. You just got to

36:38 keep the foot on the gas pedal there.

36:39 Then you have to have lock down uh

36:40 pitching to to hold that inning. So,

36:43 it's going to be a fun unique challenge

36:44 for us this year.

36:46 >> Any nervousness with the kilts and the

36:48 between the legs transfers on the trick

36:50 plays? I know it's great for air flow,

36:52 but you got to be worried about trick

36:53 plays. Maybe

36:54 >> it's it's next level for air flow. Trick

36:56 plays, those transfers, we worked on

36:57 those a lot. We practiced during this

36:59 week, so guys can get really comfortable

37:01 with them, but it's something where you

37:02 might not see a lot of transfers. We're

37:04 still going to see electric trick plays,

37:05 >> right? And coach here, did what was the

37:07 message to the boys today? The bananas

37:09 the away team Reggie,

37:11 >> that means they got to be more locked

37:13 in, more tapped in cuz we're on the road

37:16 now and we playing

37:18 >> and a banana ball championship league.

37:21 Now the BB

37:23 CL and it's very important for the guys

37:27 to be tapped in, locked in, motivated.

37:32 They got to take this team seriously. We

37:35 got to go and take another W today. on

37:38 the road and we're going to be Come on.

37:47 >> You guys got that? You guys got that?

37:48 >> Loud and clear, Sam.

37:49 >> Yeah, I do, Sam. Come on.

37:52 >> Thank you, SB. Thanks, Vro and Reggie.

37:56 Did Logan Lacy go? No, says Cal Alman,

37:58 the first base umpire.

38:02 So, the count, two balls and two

38:04 strikes. Nisnick out for his second

38:05 inning of work. He's got four, five, and

38:08 six in the firefighters lineup. Of

38:11 >> course, Lacy's only hit of the season

38:13 came in Tallahassee. Double off the

38:14 wall. Outside of that, his bat's been

38:16 pretty cold.

38:18 It'll stay that way.

38:20 >> Flicks this one to Super Reese. Alexi

38:22 eyeing it up. Tornado catch.

38:26 You bet.

38:31 >> And the Nanners back in front by one

38:33 when it comes to trick plays. Yeah,

38:34 impressive stuff from Super Reese and

38:37 Noah Nisnik last season. 48% of his outs

38:40 included trick play. So, the Bananas are

38:43 very comfortable when he's on the

38:44 pitcher mound. Reese selects ready to

38:47 receive that one and great execution

38:49 from Nisnik going to the circle change

38:52 up. Full count on the outside corner

38:54 there against Lacy.

38:57 Darien McDow skies this one to right.

39:00 Another chance for Alexi. This time a

39:02 tip drill into the straw hat on the last

39:06 three pitches. Two trick plays from

39:09 Super Reese and Wright.

39:21 >> And there's Mason Maxwell.

39:33 What are the husbands?

39:36 What are the husband's names? And

39:54 >> Mad Max with the walk up.

39:57 It represents the inning tying run after

39:59 a couple quick outs for Nisnik here in

40:02 the second. Nanners trying to tie this

40:03 game up. You know, I told the powers

40:05 that be that if they needed somebody to

40:07 be cast to play Roffus, the naked mole

40:10 rat, I was available, but they they

40:13 turned down my offer. Yeah, that was a

40:15 little Kim Possible action, right?

40:17 >> Call me beat me if you want to reach me

40:19 action.

40:21 I've always said that.

40:24 Two-1 count on the firefighters 11th

40:26 round draft pick. A guy beloved in this

40:28 clubhouse.

40:33 Team absolutely thrilled to see one of

40:35 their glue guys back in the firefighters

40:38 locker room. One of the things that's

40:40 made him really enticing to take is the

40:42 fact that he switched back up to first

40:44 base. So when you don't have Eric Jones,

40:46 you can rely on him. That one fouled off

40:49 his foot. That had to hurt.

40:50 >> Yeah, good trick play guy over at 1B.

40:52 >> Correct. see him break out the behind

40:55 the back catch above the head a couple

40:56 different times. Last night put couple

40:58 good swings on the ball but that will

41:00 not be here. Robert Anthony Cruz

41:02 backflip catch strike a pose. Three

41:06 trick plays all from the Nanners

41:08 outfield. They lead four to one in trick

41:10 plays. They tie the game at one point

41:13 each. Corner outfielder shining in the

41:16 second inning. Two from Super Reese and

41:18 the first rack flip in 2026. We are even

41:22 at one.

41:28 >> Ladies and gentlemen, I have a question

41:30 for you. Who here loves babies? Anybody

41:32 love babies?

41:34 We love babies here in Banana Ball. And

41:38 that's that brings me it's about 4:30.

41:40 So that means it's time to feed the

41:42 babies. So we're going to have a race,

41:44 ladies and gentlemen. Two babies are

41:46 going to start way out in center field.

41:48 They have to run to second base. chug

41:51 their bottles and then get home to their

41:53 mommies who are going to burp them after

41:56 they feed them. Let's go ahead and meet

41:58 our babies.

42:04 There's our babies. We've got baby Matt

42:07 and baby Paul. They've got diapers and

42:10 bibs and they are ready to get fed here

42:13 at Grayson Stadium. This is the baby

42:16 daddy race. Gentlemen, on your marks,

42:19 get set, go.

42:25 Here they come. They're coming in hot.

42:28 Look at those babies go. Fastest babies

42:31 in the land.

42:34 We got Paul and we got Matt. That's a

42:36 really tan baby. He's very tan for a

42:39 baby. All right, chug those baby

42:41 bottles. There it is.

42:44 Oh, they're a little gassy. I can tell

42:46 already. Yeah, I can see it in their

42:47 faces. They got to come in.

42:52 Paul gets in first. She's going to burp

42:54 them.

42:57 >> I think we got it over here, ladies and

42:59 gentlemen. Give it up for the winner of

43:00 the baby daddy race is Paul.

43:04 >> Oh, those diapers are something else.

43:06 Give it up for the baby daddy race,

43:08 ladies and gentlemen.

43:11 >> Well, all righty then. Were they having

43:15 to burp at the end?

43:17 >> I honestly don't want to know. I'm just

43:19 going to focus back on the banana ball

43:21 game. It's a good one that we've got on

43:23 our hands.

43:25 Chalk full of storylines. Jared

43:26 Donaldson is 910 and one in the Bananas

43:31 lineup. Ryan Cox, Danny Hosley, and then

43:33 Dr. back at the top as we're nodded at

43:36 one point each.

43:38 Johnny struck out the side in the first,

43:42 set up a Tiner Hughes double and Daltton

43:44 Cornet. Walk-off single to win the

43:45 inning,

43:47 but then a leadoff triple from Dan Over

43:49 followed up by a Kyle Jackson RBI ball

43:53 for Sprint. It was enough offense for

43:54 Noan Isnik and company to knock things

43:56 up. Now Coxy two for two on this young

44:01 tour with the ball for Sprint.

44:03 Infallible with the bat thus far. His

44:06 triple last night really changed the

44:07 complexion of the game for the Bananas

44:09 against Bradford Web. Long inning, long

44:12 at bat, 3-2 count, and he goes to

44:14 triples alley. Yeah, you're spot on. It

44:15 was eight up, eight down until Cox had

44:18 the two out triple in the third and that

44:20 turned into the first point for the

44:22 Nanners.

44:28 the Ty Jackson RBI double that followed

44:30 it and that started four straight

44:33 innings of Bananas walk-offs.

44:37 Payoff pitch here. There's another

44:39 sprint. So Ryan Cox still yet to be

44:41 retired here in his fifth Banana Ball

44:44 World Tour.

44:46 Known for his talents with the mitt, but

44:48 gets just more and more valuable every

44:50 season with the stick as JT Sakalov,

44:54 >> the designated runner, will take over at

44:56 first base for his shortstop.

44:58 Got to see JT finally enter last night's

45:01 contest. Stole a bag, was able to score

45:04 an inning winning run for the Savannah

45:06 Bananas. This guy's just a really

45:08 intelligent base runner and the

45:10 firefighters well aware of that as

45:11 Donnie checks on him at first.

45:16 Yeah, Sakalov

45:18 did not get inserted last Saturday night

45:21 in Tallahassee. First time on the bases

45:23 in his Banana Ball career. swiped

45:24 second. Came around to score an inning

45:26 winning run. Check on him here from ZB.

45:31 He's back at plenty of time. Sakov guy

45:33 who spent three years at Illinois State

45:34 then finished up in 2025 at Michigan

45:37 State, his dream school. Grew up a huge

45:40 Spartan fan as Hosley slaps it right

45:42 back through the middle. Tuon with no

45:45 outs across his college career. JT 51

45:49 for 57 in his stolen base tries.

45:54 big goal of his naturally should

45:57 surprise nobody is leading the inaugural

46:00 season of the BBCL in swiped bases.

46:05 Back at the top, a ball and a strike on

46:07 Dr. Meadows, a victim of the Donnie

46:10 splitter, his first time. Went down

46:11 swinging.

46:14 Chops this one. Nice jumping grab by

46:17 Donaldson. Throw to second. Offline

46:19 though.

46:22 Boy, you need an out there if you're the

46:24 firefighters. Hley in safe at second.

46:27 Bases are loaded. Still no outs.

46:29 >> You can see exactly where he's thinking,

46:30 too. Just wants to get that runner at

46:32 second. Opens up a double play. Great

46:34 job to get it fielded in, but then the

46:36 throw low. Tiny can't catch up to it.

46:38 Now all of a sudden, bases loaded.

46:40 Nobody away for Reese Alexi.

46:43 >> Yeah, you just can't blame Jared

46:44 Donaldson. That's exactly where the

46:46 momentum was taking him as he fielded

46:47 that ball towards second base rather

46:49 than trying to turn himself around and

46:51 throw to first. Just unfortunately a

46:54 little bit of an errant throw. Now loads

46:56 the bases for Ree.

46:59 The 1-1

47:02 clangs off the mitt of Zachary Bridges.

47:05 Two balls and a strike.

47:07 Nowhere to put Reese Alexiatis who set

47:11 the bananas single season home run

47:13 record a year ago with 13 ters

47:20 hunting his first career banana ball

47:22 grand slam. Not for lack of trying on

47:25 his two whiffs so far in this battle.

47:30 Now the two from Donnie

47:33 just misses the inside corner with the

47:35 splitter. This is where Super East came

47:38 up big for the Nanners. Five of those 13

47:40 home runs last season were threerun

47:43 bombs. Still looking for the grand

47:46 salami.

47:49 Base is loaded. Payoff pitch

47:52 launched deep down the right field line

47:54 and way foul.

47:59 So we get to do it again.

48:02 Sakalov off third. Hosley off second.

48:04 Meadows off first. No outs.

48:08 Tie game here in the top of the third.

48:11 Another 3-2. And Donaldson gets Alexi

48:15 swinging.

48:16 >> Fifth K of the day for Donnie.

48:18 >> And it's a big one too because now it

48:20 sets up a potential double play to get

48:22 out of the frame. That's a massive

48:24 strike out for Donnie just to get his

48:26 confidence going. Hasn't really mowed

48:28 down like he did in the first inning.

48:29 What's KJ doing here?

48:32 Well, it's Max Young Goldberg due to

48:34 swing it. I don't know where KJ is. Oh,

48:37 there he is. He's got the helmet on, but

48:39 MJG is going to be the one who swings

48:41 it.

48:44 Currently

48:46 without protection for his noggin, the

48:49 double dutch bus.

48:52 >> Wow.

49:03 MJG.

49:06 >> What an unbelievable first walk up here

49:08 in his rookie campaign. It's a tick tock

49:10 trend.

49:12 Finally has that elusive helmet.

49:19 Deep breath and a foul ball.

49:26 MJG a victim of the splitter his first

49:28 time

49:30 >> down on strikes.

49:36 One-1 on the kid out of Palo Alto,

49:37 California.

49:49 >> Make it two in one. Does not bite on the

49:52 splitter. really trying to work down on

49:53 the zone here against Max Young Goldberg

49:56 as well. And so far, the last two

49:58 pitches kind of biting the turf.

50:02 >> Excellent job by Donnie to even up the

50:04 count once again. Well, the approach has

50:07 looked different for the Bananas as well

50:08 since the first inning. A lot of guys

50:10 were getting overly aggressive against

50:11 Jared Donaldson. You haven't exactly

50:13 seen the same approach since. As you

50:16 see, Young Goldberg spitting on the

50:18 splitter once again in that turf and

50:21 making this a second consecutive

50:23 fullcount pitch for Jared Donaldelsson.

50:28 MJG caught looking just window shopping

50:34 right down the shoot on the 3-2

50:36 splitter. Donnie up to six punches.

50:40 >> Just froze him up top. MJG thought he

50:45 had it all figured out instead. Donnie

50:47 with the veteran pitch to get the rookie

50:49 out. And now just one out away from

50:51 getting out of major trouble, but Danny

50:53 Bats up to bat.

50:55 Splitter gets the bottom of the zone.

50:58 Bases were loaded with no outs. Now

51:00 there are two down. Maner's designated

51:03 hitter down to his final strike.

51:11 Can Donnie escape?

51:13 Chopper to Logan Lacy. Fielded between

51:16 the legs. He goes the short way to

51:18 second. It's a Noble Tiger for Jared

51:20 Donaldson. Bags were full with no outs.

51:23 Nobody scores.

51:25 >> The boys from Jared Donaldson on Donnie

51:28 Day nonetheless. Logan Lacy with his

51:31 second trick play of the game.

51:32 Firefighters try to go for it in the

51:34 bottom half.

51:37 Across the United States, there are over

51:40 400,000 children and teens in foster

51:43 care without a permanent home. To raise

51:46 awareness and support this community, we

51:48 created Bananas Foster, the official

51:51 nonprofit of Banana Ball. Our

51:54 organization is dedicated to celebrating

51:57 the foster care community while

51:59 educating and inspiring others to get

52:01 involved. Today, we are celebrating the

52:04 Baker family. Rick and Valerie opened

52:07 their home to children in need 35 years

52:10 ago. Their passion is keeping siblings

52:13 together while in foster care and

52:16 preparing them to thrive in adulthood.

52:19 In total, Rick and Valerie have welcomed

52:21 over 85 children and teens into their

52:25 home. Fans, please join me in

52:28 celebrating this amazing family for

52:30 making a difference in our community.

52:34 Heat.

52:41 Heat.

52:51 Heat. Heat. N.

53:01 Always

53:15 beautiful to see our bananas foster

53:18 family of the game honored here in

53:20 banana land.

53:44 You need to distract.

53:47 What is that?

54:11 Cowboy Kyle Luix taking over for Noanis

54:15 with a 9-year banana. Gets to make his

54:18 2026 Grayson Stadium debut

54:20 >> and looked really sharp in Tallahassee

54:22 last weekend. induced two trick plays,

54:24 collected a strikeout, all in less than

54:26 three minutes. And last season, Kyle had

54:29 a 3.64 earned run average in Grayson

54:32 Stadium, only allowed two sprints and

54:35 racked up 16 strikeouts.

54:41 How about Ryan Cox here in his fifth

54:43 World Tour, rocking the kilts for a

54:46 fourth time, miked up, Coxy, how good

54:48 does it feel to have a little more

54:50 aation on the downstairs? It feels good.

54:52 Uh my first game in Banana Land, we

54:54 played in the Kilts and I made still to

54:56 this day one of my coolest plays in uh

54:58 Banana Land. Made a nice diving play

55:00 down the left field line. Uh so I think

55:02 the aeration allowed me to run a little

55:04 faster, more aerodynamic.

55:07 Uh it's great to think about the tenure

55:10 there as we honor our firefighter of the

55:12 night walking up to the dish with Dakota

55:14 McFaten.

55:17 That was the first ever banana ball game

55:19 with the guys rocket kilts. Now, how

55:21 does it affect you in the trick play

55:24 department?

55:25 >> Uh, little less uh in between the legs

55:27 mobility. So, you might see some behind

55:29 the back stuff. Um, you know, some

55:31 bounces, kind of keep it simple. This is

55:33 an opportunity here for me and KJ to get

55:35 this little double trick play.

55:39 >> Quick 02 count on DMAC here in his sixth

55:43 world tour. One of the few guys more

55:45 tenured than you,

55:47 >> man. A wild swing and a miss. That's a

55:49 sword. Nasty slider from Cowboy Kyle who

55:53 looks sharp as ever here in year number

55:55 nine.

55:56 There it is.

55:59 Little belt buckle shuffle. What a

56:02 staple of Banana Land that is.

56:04 How happy were you to hear his name

56:07 called in the third round of the player

56:08 draft? Unbelievably happy. I mean, this

56:11 place isn't what it is without the the

56:13 princes here, uh, Prince Kyle and Prince

56:16 Bill and that that duo. You know, they

56:18 did the thing last week uh where they,

56:20 you know, get their little groove on.

56:22 So, uh it's nothing without these two.

56:24 Their hard work. They're We got to

56:26 dance. Yeah. Speaking of getting their

56:28 groove on, Bill and Noah Bridges, former

56:30 teammates teaming up on a boogie.

56:35 Little something something. How about

56:36 the

56:39 angle for Hunter Ives? Front and center

56:41 for that home plate up higher up close

56:45 and personal. Well, Kyle and Bill have

56:47 been here since 2018, but you kind of

56:49 had an idea of what was going on around

56:51 here since 2017 when you were on the

56:53 Gastonia Grizzlies, the Cole's first

56:56 Coastal Playing League ball club. How

56:58 crazy it to see it from the Grizzlies

57:02 days only the second year of the Bananas

57:04 to what it's become. I'll tell you what,

57:06 when we had to come play here on the

57:07 road and it was a Wednesday double

57:09 header and it was sold out for both

57:10 games. You're looking at this place and

57:12 uh there was a first baseman from the

57:15 University of Georgia. He hit a ball off

57:17 what was the high wall and right and uh

57:19 bases loaded. I'm trying to run out for

57:21 a double cut and it was the first time

57:22 in my life that I couldn't hear myself

57:25 think. Uh so it's a lot friendlier being

57:28 on this side

57:30 and uh I mean obviously just super

57:33 grateful to the Kohl's to have me

57:34 involved in Gastonia and give me that

57:36 opportunity to continue it here and to

57:38 see what this sport has grown into is

57:41 beautiful. I mean we got three games on

57:42 YouTube today and yesterday

57:45 >> we were watching clowns party animals

57:46 and coconut tailgators today in the

57:48 locker room getting ready for this and

57:50 just so much so much more meaningful out

57:52 here. You know what we do for trick

57:54 plays or pace of play. Just to know the

57:56 sport's growing in such a tremendous

57:58 fashion

58:00 just gave me chills up here. Coxy, I

58:02 love this place, man. I love this sport.

58:04 I love these guys. It's uh, you know,

58:06 oneonone opportunity.

58:08 >> Zachary Bridges bouncing ball. Kyle

58:10 Jackson between the legs. Alex Zagler

58:12 between the legs. Scoop. Double trick

58:14 play.

58:15 >> You love to see that, Ryan Cox.

58:19 >> The one, two, three for Cowboy Kyle Coxy

58:21 as always. Love getting to chat, my

58:23 friend.

58:23 >> Love you guys.

58:26 >> Love you to work the rest of the way,

58:27 Coxy.

58:30 >> Bananas Nation loves to see it. We would

58:33 have liked to get to chat with Ryan Cox

58:35 for a little longer, but you take what

58:37 you get in Banana Ball.

59:08 anything.

59:14 Let's go.

59:16 Heat. Heat.

59:30 Heat.

59:48 Heat.

1:00:00 Banana Band blasting away as we head to

1:00:03 the top of the fourth inning. Heck of a

1:00:04 ball game on our hands. Currently tied

1:00:07 at one point each. And the man in his

1:00:10 eighth year here in Banana Land. Mr.

1:00:13 Electric himself, Christian Dearman,

1:00:15 bringing in all of his defenders around

1:00:17 the mound. I have to think some

1:00:20 shenanigans are a foot.

1:00:23 Yeah. Dear, what do you got?

1:00:26 I think this is the Rasputin.

1:00:33 Got his fan club up close and personal.

1:00:37 You guys ever pull this one off on Just

1:00:39 Dance?

1:00:40 >> I never did. No, I wasn't really good at

1:00:42 Just Dance.

1:00:43 >> My parents didn't allow me to play Just

1:00:44 Dance.

1:00:45 >> Why not?

1:00:46 >> It's like a foot loose kind of thing. We

1:00:47 we didn't believe in dancing

1:00:51 >> right now. We might be doing the rain

1:00:53 dance because it's in a pore here.

1:00:54 >> The family where both your parents and

1:00:56 your brother all play musical

1:00:58 instruments and they didn't believe in

1:00:59 dancing.

1:01:00 >> I was not allowed to dance when they

1:01:01 played.

1:01:05 >> You laugh. It's not It's not funny to

1:01:07 me.

1:01:08 >> It's chuckling.

1:01:09 >> It's pretty funny.

1:01:10 >> It's pretty funny to me.

1:01:13 So Tony, Margie, Jacob, they're blasting

1:01:15 away on their respective instruments and

1:01:18 you just have to sit there. Can't even

1:01:19 tap your foot.

1:01:20 >> I'm just sitting there with my hands in

1:01:22 my lap. Okay.

1:01:23 >> Is there anything going on in your mind?

1:01:25 Any sort of like

1:01:25 >> sitting upright, nice posture.

1:01:29 >> You're showing them respect.

1:01:30 >> Keeping your nose clean.

1:01:31 >> They're artists at work.

1:01:35 >> Kyle Jackson with a one-two count as the

1:01:38 rain intensifies here at Grayson

1:01:40 Stadium. It was

1:01:42 trickling down through the first three

1:01:44 innings. I would classify this as a

1:01:47 downpour

1:01:49 as it's now deuces

1:01:51 to KJ Loy on deck. Olsson in the hole.

1:01:59 >> And another foul ball. This is a good

1:02:01 chance for the fans and none of them

1:02:04 were looking.

1:02:05 >> All trying to escape the rain and they

1:02:07 should be looking up at the skies for

1:02:09 literally anything else. Another

1:02:12 2-2.

1:02:14 Another foul ball. Hello.

1:02:18 >> KJ drove in what ended up being the

1:02:19 inning winning run with a ball for

1:02:21 Sprint back in the second. So he's up to

1:02:23 three sprints on the year

1:02:26 as he loops that one towards center.

1:02:28 Noah Bridges charging in diving. Can't

1:02:30 make the play. The ball gets behind him.

1:02:32 KJ is going to get himself a hustle

1:02:35 double

1:02:38 and waves to Bridges in center

1:02:41 afterwards. Says, "Thank you for an

1:02:42 extra base, sir." Yeah, not sure if he

1:02:45 was a little confused about whether to

1:02:47 dive or maybe there's a slip on the turf

1:02:49 with the rain falling as well. Either

1:02:52 way, a tough start for Christian

1:02:54 Dearman. Already a man in scoring

1:02:56 position and it would appear that we are

1:02:59 now going into a lightning delay here in

1:03:01 Grayson Stadium.

1:03:03 Start it. Start the clock again.

1:03:06 >> Resume the clock.

1:03:07 >> Yes.

1:03:08 >> Press play on the clock.

1:03:10 >> A lot of options there, but the clock is

1:03:12 >> the clock I like the best.

1:03:14 >> Yeah, because restart kind of seems like

1:03:15 it's going back to the two hours. Uh,

1:03:17 how about Bill Loy? First pitch back in

1:03:19 action. Kyle Jackson racing around. He

1:03:22 will score. RBI single for the 9-year

1:03:26 manner. His first knock of 2026.

1:03:30 And the Nanners with their second run

1:03:32 driven in of the ball game. We're right

1:03:34 back to it.

1:03:43 And KJ leading the boys in a silly

1:03:45 little diddy.

1:03:48 Banana ball.

1:03:51 It's like we never left.

1:03:56 So Kyle Jackson drove in the inning

1:03:58 winning run with that aforementioned

1:04:00 sprint back in the second. He now scores

1:04:03 for the first time today

1:04:06 on the first hit and run batted in of

1:04:08 Bill Loy in his ninth campaign. Just an

1:04:12 ambush on Dearman's very first pitch.

1:04:14 This comes following a 1 hour and 21

1:04:17 minute delay and Loy able to just hang

1:04:20 in there against Christian Dear. put the

1:04:22 bananas on the board and this is

1:04:24 momentum they want to ride the rest of

1:04:25 this way following that delay.

1:04:27 >> And you have to wonder too for Christian

1:04:28 Dearman, this is his season debut in

1:04:31 2026 and it gets interrupted immediately

1:04:33 after giving up a double on the first

1:04:34 pitch he throws. It's an RBI single. He

1:04:38 wants to be perfect, but he's going to

1:04:39 have to be here for the firefighters to

1:04:40 have a shot in the inning.

1:04:43 >> Check on Bill Loy as Dear's facing

1:04:45 second. And now he'll 180 and set his

1:04:50 sights back on Jackson Olsson who is

1:04:52 thrilled about it. Smoked into right.

1:04:54 Loy will go station to station as McDow

1:04:57 gets it in quickly.

1:05:01 The great eight one for two on the

1:05:03 afternoon now. Three for six on the

1:05:05 tour. Hot start

1:05:07 to tour number four

1:05:10 for the kid out of New Milford,

1:05:12 Connecticut. And you're just seeing a

1:05:13 lot of confidence from Jackson Olsen at

1:05:15 the plate in the field right now. He

1:05:17 batted just 231 a season ago, which by

1:05:20 his standards was certainly

1:05:21 disappointing, but he was red-hot

1:05:23 throughout spring training. That's

1:05:25 continued as now Robert Anthony Cruz has

1:05:28 this one squirt underneath the mitt of

1:05:30 Mason Maxwell. Loy getting the wave home

1:05:34 and he will slide in safely. Bananas.

1:05:37 Three straight knocks to open up the

1:05:40 game following the delay.

1:05:42 and multiple runs on the board. Now two

1:05:46 on nanners in the fourth

1:05:49 >> and each of these knocks absolute

1:05:51 backspun barrels.

1:05:54 Loy Olsen and Cruz ready to rumble.

1:05:58 >> Now Ryan Cox digs in.

1:06:03 >> Coxy yet to be retired in 2026.

1:06:06 >> We see Javon Ray running in from the

1:06:08 bullpen. You got to wonder at some point

1:06:09 if Christian Dear can't find a way to

1:06:11 get out of the jam. Do we see Javon go

1:06:13 ahead and get inserted in this inning?

1:06:15 Know he's supposed to get some work here

1:06:16 at some point. Does he come in here in

1:06:18 the top half of the fourth?

1:06:24 Two coming from Dear Cruz dancing off

1:06:26 first.

1:06:29 And that's three straight bad ones to

1:06:32 Cox just missing the outside corner.

1:06:35 Hunter arrives, lets Dearman know. Coxy

1:06:39 worked a sprint his first time

1:06:41 and the three 0 gets the zone.

1:06:45 Two ball, four sprints, a single and a

1:06:48 triple across the four plate appearances

1:06:50 in tour number five so far for the glove

1:06:52 magician.

1:06:54 He's got runners on the corners. The 3-1

1:06:57 with Cruz taking off his ball four.

1:06:59 Olsson will score easily. Rack didn't

1:07:01 know it was ball four. Slid into second.

1:07:03 now gets the motor going again and will

1:07:05 park it at third.

1:07:08 And that's three runs across here in the

1:07:10 top of the fourth for the Nanners. And

1:07:12 Javon Ray is coming in here as Christian

1:07:14 Dear Pats on the rise and I don't even

1:07:16 think he knows it yet. Javon's going to

1:07:18 take the ball try to get the

1:07:19 firefighters out of a corner corner

1:07:22 runner's damage here.

1:07:27 So Cox with his first stake of 2026.

1:07:33 >> Gay

1:07:35 will come in

1:07:38 with runners on the corners and no outs.

1:07:41 Take a look at his numbers in his rookie

1:07:43 campaign a year ago.

1:07:44 >> Yeah, Baby G came in last week in

1:07:46 Florida State in the seventh inning,

1:07:47 gave up a couple of runs against the

1:07:49 Loco Beach Coconuts. This is a lot of

1:07:51 potential here with Javon Ray. He's very

1:07:53 athletic. five pitch mix, but the one

1:07:56 thing they desperately needed to do was

1:07:58 find ways to come into games and get

1:07:59 outs. There's been a lot of damage

1:08:01 induced against Javon. Maybe this is a

1:08:03 perfect opportunity for him to show

1:08:04 exactly what he's made of as he puts one

1:08:06 into the turf on his first pitch here.

1:08:10 >> Danny Hosley, dangerous man lurking in

1:08:12 the 10 hole.

1:08:17 >> JT Sakalov takes off for second and the

1:08:20 Nanners designated runner in safely. the

1:08:22 perfect two for two in his stolen base

1:08:25 tries in his young career.

1:08:36 >> Two-1 count on Hosley. And I beg your

1:08:39 pardon. That was Coxy's second RBI of

1:08:41 2026.

1:08:43 Had one last night. It's not on

1:08:44 bananabball.com/stats.

1:08:49 That will be updated.

1:08:52 as Hosley drives this one deep out to

1:08:55 right center. Bridges in pursuit. Nice

1:08:57 running snag. Easy sack fly as Cruz

1:09:00 comes in. Big stop sign for Sakalov.

1:09:03 And now a four spot for the Nanners

1:09:07 with another man 90 ft away and one out.

1:09:09 Finally,

1:09:13 Noah Bridges manning center field for

1:09:16 the first time this season. for the

1:09:17 first time since 2025 early on since Ron

1:09:20 Franklin took over that spot in the

1:09:22 summer.

1:09:24 Of course, in the spot of Armando Baser,

1:09:26 who again we send our thoughts and

1:09:27 prayers to mourning the passing of his

1:09:30 father as Tiner Hughes goes behind the

1:09:32 back and over to Mason Maxwell. Even

1:09:34 though that's the fifth run to come

1:09:36 across for the Savannah Bananas, the

1:09:37 Firefighters at least get a trick play

1:09:39 out of it and draw to a 6-3 deficit in

1:09:42 that category.

1:09:44 >> Yeah, Dr. now 0 for three on the day. He

1:09:47 picks up his second ribeye of the tour.

1:09:50 That big looping bender in there for

1:09:53 Gay. As you can see, the bananas six

1:09:55 trick plays, the firefighters three.

1:09:57 Nanner's first game ever as the away

1:09:59 team with the equalizer point in play

1:10:03 >> and hungry to earn it as you can

1:10:05 imagine.

1:10:07 Off the end of the bat out to right

1:10:09 center,

1:10:11 >> McDow under the leg. Heck of a trick

1:10:14 play from the banana ball rookie. His

1:10:17 second of the tour and the best yet from

1:10:20 Premium.

1:10:21 >> That's right. They call him Premium and

1:10:23 for good reason. That was Prime.

1:10:24 Stumbling, bumbling, but did not fumble

1:10:27 it. Darien McDow rescues the inning.

1:10:29 Firefighters need five in the bottom

1:10:31 half to draw even here in the bottom of

1:10:34 the fourth.

1:10:39 >> Stadium. And not only do I need you on

1:10:41 your feet, I also need you to put your

1:10:43 hands up in the air. Hands up in the air

1:10:45 because it's time for Little Hey, baby.

1:11:14 That's pretty good. But let's sing a

1:11:16 little louder.

1:11:29 Keep clapping, Savannah. We're going to

1:11:31 shuffle it out.

1:11:44 All right, get ready.

1:11:58 One more time,

1:12:10 Bo the Beaver, Princess Patassia and

1:12:13 company. Hey babying as the skies have

1:12:16 cleared. We are back to banana ball. My

1:12:18 big takeaway from that round of Hey

1:12:20 Baby, Austin Drury might have the riest

1:12:23 of all smiles in Banana Land. He's got a

1:12:25 silly little smile, that guy.

1:12:27 >> I I kind of noticed that on Banana Land

1:12:29 at Sea.

1:12:29 >> Me, too.

1:12:31 >> But it really just hit me.

1:12:32 >> I like that guy.

1:12:33 >> I do, too. It's funny. It's like he's

1:12:37 always got a secret that he's got in the

1:12:39 back of his mind or something. I don't

1:12:41 know. We'll have to figure that out.

1:12:43 We'll have AD miked up in the near

1:12:45 future. We can ask him so that everybody

1:12:47 on the broadcast can find out. Lamar

1:12:49 Sparks in the tenhole kicking off the

1:12:51 last of the fourth.

1:12:54 The firefighters would really like to

1:12:55 get Lamar Sparks some sort of action

1:12:57 here. He's the donut batter

1:13:00 in this game, but they just want to get

1:13:02 him some sort of confidence. He hasn't

1:13:03 started yet in the field. When they have

1:13:05 put him in the game, it's to hit. Got

1:13:07 one secret peel. Struck out his only

1:13:09 time at FSU. But this is a guy when his

1:13:10 bat gets going. Boy, can he light it up

1:13:13 in the power column, too. Clinton

1:13:15 Mazula, Montana as he ropes that one

1:13:18 into left field and that'll do the job.

1:13:20 So, he goes around first. He is flying

1:13:22 for second. That one got all the way to

1:13:23 the track. And how about that to spark

1:13:25 up something for the firefighters from

1:13:27 Lamar Sparks, former fifth round pick of

1:13:30 the Baltimore Orioles in 2017. Little up

1:13:33 and down career in the minor leagues,

1:13:34 but went to Missoula, Montana, the

1:13:36 Pioneer League in 2022. Tore up to the

1:13:38 tune of a 399 average and 18 home runs.

1:13:41 That swing look much more like it for

1:13:43 Lamar.

1:13:44 >> Yeah, right on time. How about first

1:13:46 career banana ball hit, extra base hit

1:13:47 at that well struck double. first

1:13:50 firefighter to reach against Cowboy Kyle

1:13:52 who set down McFaten and the Bridges

1:13:55 brothers in order. Couple punch outs and

1:13:57 a ground out in the bottom of the third.

1:14:00 02 to Tiner Hughes. Back to Kyle right

1:14:03 through the legs. Olsen. It's going to

1:14:05 be a tough play. Not in time. Tiner can

1:14:07 fly.

1:14:09 Never a chance for the great eight. So

1:14:11 an infield single for Tiny who's two for

1:14:14 two on the afternoon. Doubled his first

1:14:15 time.

1:14:16 >> I'll tell you what, man. Tiny's been a

1:14:17 very important player for this

1:14:18 firefighter squad with the injuries that

1:14:20 have gone on with a couple of shifting

1:14:23 around the positions. He's been mighty

1:14:25 effective at second base and with the

1:14:26 bat in his hands and he's going for

1:14:28 second and he might have been a little

1:14:29 slow on the draw.

1:14:32 >> Bill Loy guns down Hughes.

1:14:36 And that's a that's a base running

1:14:38 blunder right there for the

1:14:40 firefighters. They're trailing by five

1:14:41 runs in this. I mean, it's just trying

1:14:43 to do too much too early in an inning

1:14:46 situation if you're Tiner Hughes.

1:14:48 Meanwhile, for Bill Roy, already two

1:14:51 guys that he's caught stealing this

1:14:53 season. That's a really nice start for

1:14:55 the Bananas back stop. Yeah, Bill Gunn

1:14:57 down Sparks last night trying to swipe

1:14:59 second. Peter just misses high. Fun

1:15:03 history between Kaden Green and Kyle

1:15:05 Luig. First time they faced off was pros

1:15:08 vers22.

1:15:12 As Cox feels it between the legs over to

1:15:14 first Ziggy between the leg scoop, his

1:15:16 second of the afternoon. Another double

1:15:19 trick play for the Nanners. They have

1:15:20 doubled up the firefighters in that

1:15:22 department. This is the impact of the

1:15:24 designated fielder for the Savannah

1:15:26 Bananas. They love what Alex Ziggler can

1:15:28 do. He's always been strong with trick

1:15:31 plays. The bat hasn't always translated

1:15:33 like he'd like, but he had 37 back in

1:15:36 2024. Pushed all the first basemen to

1:15:40 get better. And I think he's going to do

1:15:42 very much the same thing as this one.

1:15:44 Dribbles foul. And you get another look

1:15:46 at what Ziggler can do. Trying the

1:15:48 tornado spin fielding that one.

1:15:54 01 coming to Daltton Cornet. Big smile

1:15:56 on Kyle's face. Always a blast when you

1:16:00 get to sort of your battery mate of the

1:16:02 last nine years in Banana Land last 10

1:16:04 years when go back to those guys being

1:16:06 freshman together at the University of

1:16:07 North Georgia.

1:16:11 Kyle went to the Valley League first

1:16:13 summer after his college career started.

1:16:17 And then Bill and Kyle

1:16:20 have played just about every single

1:16:22 season of baseball together since the

1:16:25 summer after their sophomore years.

1:16:27 That's out of Kyle's last spring at

1:16:30 Jacksonville State.

1:16:32 Roller to the right side. Jackson Olsen

1:16:35 the kick trick. Ziggy between the legs

1:16:37 again. It's not Deja Vu, it's Alex

1:16:40 Ziegler. A difference maker over at 1B.

1:16:44 Backto back double trick plays. And now

1:16:47 it's 10 for the Danners. Still just four

1:16:49 for the firefighters.

1:16:52 for the use of umpires. Will we have

1:16:56 something of our own? Ladies and

1:16:59 gentlemen, it is my pleasure to welcome

1:17:01 over to the umpiring position at third

1:17:04 base, the banana ball, Robot umpire.

1:17:21 Initiating banana ball survey on fire

1:17:25 mode in 3 2 1.

1:18:00 The robot umpire spotted for a second

1:18:03 straight night

1:18:05 here in Savannah

1:18:09 only in Banana Land.

1:18:13 We still don't have an official name for

1:18:15 the robo, right?

1:18:17 >> It's not like Quad, you know. No, it's

1:18:18 just We've been talking a lot about

1:18:20 Quad.

1:18:20 >> Yes, we have.

1:18:22 >> Trying to figure out Maybe we can ask

1:18:24 Claude what we should name the robo.

1:18:26 That's That's a great idea.

1:18:30 Uh chat here on the Span Bananas YouTube

1:18:33 channel. I would love to see any ideas

1:18:36 you may have on the robo up as look out

1:18:39 split flying across. Javon Ray able to s

1:18:42 sideestep the bananas mascot and gets a

1:18:45 strike on the pitch as well ahead of Max

1:18:47 Young Goldberg02.

1:18:49 >> Split stuck. That one goes up the

1:18:51 middle. He's in big trouble.

1:18:54 I think Split's feeling kind of

1:18:55 embarrassed right now. I wouldn't want

1:18:57 to get up if I were him either.

1:19:01 >> Kind of in a similar position that you

1:19:03 were staying on the south side in the

1:19:05 barrel when you were turned on your

1:19:07 side. Yeah, Eric Jones was up at the

1:19:09 plate and I thought I was about to have

1:19:10 brain damage for life as that one goes

1:19:12 into the dirt. Ball three. Split is not

1:19:15 moved. Oh, now he's moving. He and Robo

1:19:18 are both stuck. I think one's glitching,

1:19:20 the other's embarrassed. Perhaps the

1:19:22 floppy disc on Robo needs to be changed.

1:19:26 His count has gone from 02 to 32

1:19:29 as MJG fouls off that big curveball.

1:19:33 Five pitch mix. split just to by the way

1:19:36 >> naturally

1:19:38 >> as he's been known to do. Shattered bat,

1:19:40 another foul ball.

1:19:41 >> People twerking banana land

1:19:43 >> from time to time, Zack from time to

1:19:46 time.

1:19:46 >> Oh, split got up

1:19:48 >> and we get another look. I mean, Javon

1:19:51 Ray didn't break a sweat sidstepping

1:19:54 world's strongest banana

1:19:56 >> and he threw a strike afterwards. Don't

1:19:58 let that be forgotten. You can't

1:20:00 overlook that. Soldier's athletic for a

1:20:02 reason as Mason Maxwell lets that one go

1:20:04 by him on the dive and Max Young

1:20:06 Goldberg is onto the ponds.

1:20:10 >> Couple strikeouts his first two time

1:20:13 first two times through the order for

1:20:15 MJG. He's one for three now and the

1:20:18 table set for Dan Oburst.

1:20:21 Tripled his first time. Came around to

1:20:23 score the inning winning run in the

1:20:25 second inning.

1:20:38 Oh boy. Wow.

1:20:42 >> Goldberg just able to get back in time.

1:20:45 >> I think the throw from Gray had him

1:20:46 beat. It was just a little bit to the

1:20:48 right. Otherwise,

1:20:50 >> boy, that looked like Maxon Goldberg got

1:20:52 beat.

1:21:00 and Overbur excuse me swing on what was

1:21:03 supposed to be a front door bender.

1:21:06 Still 02

1:21:08 on the pride of Largo, Florida.

1:21:11 Moved out to the St. Pete area at 8

1:21:13 years old after growing up on Long

1:21:16 Island.

1:21:18 Nice play by Mad Max to keep that ball

1:21:20 in the infield.

1:21:32 Chopper foul. Good job by Javon Ray to

1:21:34 continue to pound the zone in attack

1:21:36 mode. Still ahead one-two.

1:21:37 >> Yeah, and I think Dan Oburst has a very

1:21:39 aggressive approach right now against

1:21:40 Javon Ray considering last season faced

1:21:43 him twice, got hits off of Gray both

1:21:46 times.

1:21:47 >> Another go. There he goes. Skullberg

1:21:50 gunned down at first. He was fooled

1:21:52 again on the Javon Ray pickoff. This

1:21:54 time pays the iron price.

1:21:57 >> Javon Ray head on a swivel finds a way

1:22:01 on Maxfield Goldberg as we have a

1:22:03 challenge and it might be for good

1:22:05 reason.

1:22:05 >> Yeah, that's a very good challenge.

1:22:08 >> Reminder in Banana Ball, each team comes

1:22:10 into a game with one challenge. When

1:22:12 they use it, if the call is overturned

1:22:14 on the field, they get to keep the

1:22:15 challenge. And from what we're seeing

1:22:16 from this high first base camera,

1:22:20 MJG was able to get that right hand in

1:22:22 before the tag came in from Maxwell.

1:22:30 >> Maybe wondering why a guy who's known

1:22:31 for his bat, I mean, we've talked

1:22:33 multiple times this year about his

1:22:35 record setting 130 RBI's last year in

1:22:38 the Pioneer League with the Boise Hawks

1:22:40 has taken such big leads off first base.

1:22:42 He sweped 10 bags last year. I feel like

1:22:44 it's it's not the primary part of his

1:22:46 game, but he will run.

1:22:47 >> And here's the thing, he's playing under

1:22:49 Tyler Gillum and his whole philosophy is

1:22:51 that green light special putting

1:22:52 pressure on defenders and swiping bags.

1:22:56 Young Goldberg's trying to adopt that.

1:22:57 >> The field is

1:22:59 overturned. Runner is

1:23:01 >> overturned.

1:23:02 >> So, the Bananas retain their challenge.

1:23:05 First call we've had challenged today.

1:23:10 Firefighters and the fans had successful

1:23:13 challenges last night.

1:23:18 Successful check swing there from Dan

1:23:19 Oburst as he's worked the count from 02

1:23:22 to 2-2.

1:23:26 Hot shot will be down for a base

1:23:29 knockout to left center. Goldberg will

1:23:32 stay put at second.

1:23:34 Excellent throw in from Noah Bridges.

1:23:38 >> And a pair of singles to open up the

1:23:40 fifth inning for the Nanners. And they

1:23:42 are putting up scrappy at bats right now

1:23:45 against Javon Rain. It's worked out in

1:23:47 both scenarios. Young Goldberg, an eight

1:23:49 pitch battle and then getting the

1:23:51 single. And Dan Ober, how about seven

1:23:53 pitches against Ray before lining that

1:23:55 one up the shoe.

1:23:58 Kyle Jackson digs in. It's been a good

1:24:00 day so far as you saw on the graphic.

1:24:03 RBI sprint his first time. Double in a

1:24:07 run score just an inning ago

1:24:12 and he's ahead two out. One of the

1:24:13 places Javon really wants to work on

1:24:15 this season is his off speed stuff, but

1:24:17 he also really wants to work a little

1:24:18 bit higher in the zone and right now

1:24:20 everything is low.

1:24:24 KJ Hunting his third homer of the tour.

1:24:28 Currently

1:24:30 the only man with more than one here in

1:24:32 Banana land.

1:24:38 >> Liner right to Mason Maxwell. Heads up

1:24:40 base running. Dan Oburst pros sprout

1:24:44 back to the bag ahead of Mad Max on the

1:24:46 range. Mason Maxwell can have at first

1:24:48 base. It's a line drive right to him,

1:24:50 but he finds a way to get over there.

1:24:52 Kyle Jackson gives him a tip of the hat

1:24:54 as Bill Loy gets everybody clapping.

1:24:57 races right to the line. If he does it,

1:24:59 man, that's trouble in the corner. Dan

1:25:01 Overs might be able to score all the way

1:25:02 from first instead. Matt Max gets it out

1:25:04 on the board for the Fighters. Oh, yeah.

1:25:06 And Goldberg certainly would have come

1:25:09 in from second. So, big play there from

1:25:12 Maxwell. Bill Loy started the resumed

1:25:15 part of our ball game. First pitch from

1:25:17 Christian Dearman. A hot shot for an RBI

1:25:20 single into left.

1:25:23 And he puts good one on this one. Derry

1:25:26 McDow able to range back and snag it.

1:25:28 Young Goldberg will tag and advance to

1:25:30 third.

1:25:32 >> Runners on the corners with two down

1:25:33 now. Darren McDow's proven to be a very

1:25:35 rangy outfielder as well out in right

1:25:37 field. We've seen a trick play flash

1:25:39 there. It's not an easy ball to read,

1:25:41 but he finds a way to get right

1:25:42 underneath it.

1:25:44 Get it out. Now runners on the corners,

1:25:46 but two away. Javon finds a right pitch

1:25:49 here. He can get out of this with no

1:25:50 damage done.

1:25:54 Chopper up the middle. Kaden Green will

1:25:56 grab it and step on second base, picking

1:25:59 up a trick play along the way as well.

1:26:01 So, fifth trick play of the ball game

1:26:04 for the firefighters. Heck of a job by

1:26:07 Javon Ray to escape a sticky situation.

1:26:46 Well, Austin Temple and company hurl

1:26:48 t-shirts at the folks here in Grace

1:26:50 stadium. Let's take a look at how we

1:26:52 have gotten to the middle of the fifth

1:26:53 inning today. Jared Donaldson struck out

1:26:55 the side in the first inning. Was

1:26:57 preaching calm, calm, guys. And then it

1:27:00 only took three batters for a Tiner

1:27:02 Hughes double and then a Daltton Cornet

1:27:04 single to walk off the first inning.

1:27:05 Firefighters were up one early. Robert

1:27:08 Anthony Cruz. Great to see the first

1:27:09 rack flip of tour number three for the

1:27:12 California kid. And Donnie right back to

1:27:14 it. Absolutely filthy stuff. Got

1:27:17 Goldberg and Alexiatis twice each. Six

1:27:20 strikeouts on the afternoon for

1:27:22 Donaldelsson. And then the bananas

1:27:24 ported on in the fourth inning. The

1:27:27 double from KJ was the last ball in play

1:27:30 we had before the delay. And then when

1:27:33 we resumed a five spot for the Naners

1:27:36 who lead 2-1 in points.

1:27:39 Jacob Bazela the new man on the mound

1:27:41 for the Nanners. So we've seen Noah

1:27:43 Nisnik, Kyle Luig, a couple veterans.

1:27:45 And now we start to get into this really

1:27:47 impressive rookie class in the Bananas

1:27:49 bullpen. Yeah. And he was a 10th round

1:27:51 pick for the Savannah Bananas. And

1:27:52 honestly a steal. I had him pretty high

1:27:54 on my big board as far as the

1:27:56 right-handers concerned. And he's worked

1:27:58 quick. Gets one pitch and Kyle Jackson

1:28:02 makes another leaping grab at the hot

1:28:04 corner this season for the Bananas. Had

1:28:07 one against Jason Arant on opening night

1:28:09 in Tallahassee. Now robs Logan Lacy of

1:28:13 extra bases. Double L at this point's

1:28:15 got to be wondering what do I have to do

1:28:16 to get one to land. He puts that one at

1:28:18 the charge. That one goes right to Ryan

1:28:20 Cox. Flips it over to KJ between the

1:28:22 legs and away from Ziggler who tried the

1:28:24 tornado catch. Darren McDall on his way

1:28:27 to second, sliding in time.

1:28:34 We saw the tandem play from Coxy and KJ

1:28:36 last night. It did not work. And it

1:28:38 doesn't work here as Ziggler tries to go

1:28:40 with the spin. Darren McDow says, "Thank

1:28:42 you very much. CH go to second now for

1:28:44 the first time. Smoke on the base pads.

1:28:47 Out at second, South Trimble.

1:28:49 >> Who gets the trick play miss there,

1:28:50 Josh? Uh, that would be on Kyle Jackson.

1:28:52 I agree.

1:28:57 >> That was a tough one. Cox kind of tossed

1:28:59 his third baseman a hot potato there. I

1:29:01 think McDow was going to beat the wrap

1:29:03 even if Ziggy caught that throw. And now

1:29:07 we get to focus in on Bazella. His first

1:29:10 ever 522. It's going to be a 532. Fifth

1:29:14 inning, third batter, second pitch, and

1:29:16 it's a strike. And it's served out into

1:29:18 left field. Robert Anthony C. Cruz

1:29:20 ranging over. We'll catch it the

1:29:22 oldfashioned way. If there was not a

1:29:24 runner on second, I think we had a good

1:29:26 chance at another rack flip. But good

1:29:30 situational thinking there from the

1:29:31 banana ball vet. And you know, it makes

1:29:33 a lot of sense that Baza would get the

1:29:36 dance here in the fifth inning

1:29:37 considering his mom owned a dance studio

1:29:40 when he was growing up and he was

1:29:42 dancing from ages 4 through 12 before he

1:29:46 fully decided to commit to playing

1:29:48 baseball.

1:29:52 Dakota McFaten in shallow right and

1:29:56 Jackson Olsen able to avoid a charging

1:29:59 Danny Hosley and a heck of a job there

1:30:03 from Jacob Aela. How about this? The

1:30:05 rookie, the first full inning he gets to

1:30:08 throw in his banana ball career. It

1:30:10 finishes in 1 minute and 50 seconds.

1:30:14 Great stuff from Big Red on the pitcher

1:30:16 mound. The proud of North Huntington,

1:30:18 Pennsylvania. nice start to his banana

1:30:20 ball career.

1:30:29 Women that serve this great country as

1:30:31 we salute our hometown heroes of the

1:30:35 night.

1:30:38 We thank you for your service and

1:30:40 commitment to our great country,

1:30:44 >> to our police officers.

1:30:49 to our firefighters,

1:30:53 to our nurses,

1:30:58 to our EMS workers,

1:31:01 to our dispatchers,

1:31:04 and to our school teachers,

1:31:09 the bananas and firefighters say thank

1:31:12 you so so very much.

1:31:28 Well, Bo climbs the ladder out beyond

1:31:30 the outfield wall. Great to see Zack

1:31:33 Phillips on the bump for a second

1:31:34 straight night. The legendary Nanner

1:31:36 after three years in the yellow and

1:31:38 white. Heck of a start to his

1:31:40 firefighters career last night. A one,

1:31:42 two, three frame. Couple punch outs.

1:31:44 Yes. Sub two-minute inning for Philly

1:31:45 yet again. 28th of his young career.

1:31:48 That now ties him for the second most in

1:31:50 Banana Mall history with Drew Gillespie.

1:31:52 And he breaks the bat of Robert Anthony

1:31:55 Cruz. Hughes avoids it. Transitions

1:31:57 between the legs. And how about these

1:32:00 firefighters starting to make a comeback

1:32:02 trying to earn that equalizer point. It

1:32:04 would be massive too cuz right now

1:32:05 they'd be down three to one. But Tiner

1:32:07 took his time. And then Mason Maxwell

1:32:09 has been so good with that bare-handed

1:32:11 stab at first. seen a couple of triple

1:32:13 trip play double plays. End him with

1:32:15 that. This time makes it look easy. That

1:32:17 bat got all the way to Tiny by the way.

1:32:20 >> Ryan Cox jam shot shallow left and Pino

1:32:24 caught off by South Trimble. Twirling

1:32:26 behind the back catch for Smoke.

1:32:30 >> Heck of a trick play for the

1:32:31 firefighters designated fielder.

1:32:33 >> The Magic Man makes it disappear. He

1:32:35 said he wants to hit the tornado catch

1:32:36 and then a reverse tornado catch. One

1:32:38 down. Maybe a couple to go. Oh, and by

1:32:40 the way, Zack Phillips still under a

1:32:42 minute and he's already got two done.

1:32:45 >> Attacking his former teammate, Ty

1:32:46 Jackson, who comes off the bench to

1:32:48 swing it in Danny Hosley's spot here at

1:32:50 the bottom of the Nanner's order.

1:32:58 >> Off the end of the bat, Noah Bridges

1:33:00 eyeing it up. Tip drill. No, Bridges it.

1:33:05 Tai will reverse course and scramble

1:33:07 back to first in time. Would have been a

1:33:10 lightning quick inning for Philly, but

1:33:13 the trick play not coraled in center.

1:33:17 He's

1:33:17 >> right there too. Noah Bridges last night

1:33:19 had a couple of them that he didn't go

1:33:21 forward. Then found his confidence right

1:33:24 there just out of his reach. But you can

1:33:26 start to see the confidence in the trick

1:33:28 place coming together for the

1:33:29 firefighters. A few guys out of position

1:33:31 from where they normally are, but as Dr.

1:33:33 Meadows comes up. You can start to see

1:33:36 they're they're figuring themselves out

1:33:37 trickery-wise.

1:33:40 Quick one-two count on the doctor.

1:33:44 This one shot through the right side. It

1:33:46 does not get a piece of Tai Jackson

1:33:48 who's able to get to second. McDow a

1:33:50 little trouble handling that one. Still

1:33:53 wet surface here after the hour 21m

1:33:55 minute rain and lightning delay.

1:33:58 Boy, that was really close to being a

1:34:01 single for Dr. But the last out of the

1:34:02 inning if it got a piece of Taiu fly

1:34:06 instead to a board with two down for

1:34:08 Reese Alexiatis

1:34:10 who lost that into center field. Noah

1:34:12 Bridges. You bet. Going to secure that

1:34:15 any way possible and Philly gets three

1:34:18 outs for the price of four. Picks up his

1:34:20 defense. Strands a pair.

1:34:24 >> It's a big confidence boost for the

1:34:26 firefighters.

1:34:27 Hold them scoreless. Get a couple trick

1:34:29 plays. Got to find something in the

1:34:30 bottom half of the six.

1:34:34 >> Next weekend, starting Saturday night,

1:34:37 banana ball in the bayou, the Caesar

1:34:40 Superdome. Backto back banana ball games

1:34:43 in the home of the New Orleans Saints.

1:34:46 It is going to be a wild scene down in

1:34:50 the Big Easy.

1:34:52 8:00 p.m. Eastern on Saturday night

1:34:54 right back here on the Bananas YouTube.

1:34:56 We'll also be on the ESPN app in Disney

1:34:58 Plus. And then little Sunday matinea

1:35:00 starting at 4:30 Eastern. And it's that

1:35:02 quintessential bananas party animals

1:35:04 rivalry back in action. Teams that a lot

1:35:08 of people consider still to be the cream

1:35:09 of the crop entering the first season of

1:35:12 the BBCL. So I'm expecting really

1:35:14 competitive games and a lot of trick

1:35:17 plays despite the dimensions in the

1:35:19 Superdome.

1:35:21 We'll have over 73,000 fans

1:35:25 in the Superdome backto back

1:35:29 days down in New Orleans. That's going

1:35:31 to be pretty absurd. Nearly 150,000 fans

1:35:35 across the two-day weekend. And Bazela

1:35:38 back out on the bump.

1:35:45 Excellent first full inning of his young

1:35:47 banana bananas career and banana ball

1:35:50 career for that matter in the fifth

1:35:51 inning. Now he's got the bottom three in

1:35:54 the firefighters lineup. The Bridges

1:35:56 brothers Noah and Zachary with Lamar

1:35:58 Sparks in the hole. Chopper to the right

1:36:00 side. Foul ball and a strike on Noah.

1:36:04 Noah Bridg is still hunting for that

1:36:06 first hit here in his 2026 World Tour

1:36:09 and his career in the Banana Ball

1:36:11 Championship League.

1:36:13 had some issues last year, especially

1:36:15 down the stretch with striking out.

1:36:17 Working on plate discipline was the name

1:36:19 of his game in the off season. Showed a

1:36:21 little bit of that in Florida State. But

1:36:23 in this situation, the firefighters need

1:36:25 runners on base. They need something to

1:36:27 go. And instead, he'll take a healthy

1:36:29 hack and a healthy miss on 22.

1:36:37 Fouled away. Will get another 2- two

1:36:38 offering. Baza's got a funky arsenal. 88

1:36:41 to 92 miles an hour with the fast ball.

1:36:43 And then he brings a slider, curveball,

1:36:45 splitter, and knuckle ball into the mix

1:36:50 as that one is slapped out to left. Ty

1:36:52 Jackson eyeing it up. Tip drill attempt.

1:36:55 Tip drill secured in the kilt. Who else

1:36:58 but Ty Jackson?

1:37:01 You knew somebody had to do it. And Tai

1:37:03 to fly always enjoys getting to rock the

1:37:06 kilts in Grayson Stadium or really in

1:37:09 any banana ball game. Impressive stuff

1:37:12 from Ty and he knew it. You can see how

1:37:14 planned that was as he put the hand

1:37:16 underneath the kilt to make sure that

1:37:18 banana ball would be secured.

1:37:21 Now big brother Zachary Bridges digs in.

1:37:26 >> Always great ingenuity on display from

1:37:29 Tai here in his third tour. fifth year

1:37:31 as a Savannah Banana

1:37:34 and a three pitch strike out. Noah,

1:37:38 check that. Zachary Bridges baffled on

1:37:40 the bender there from Bazela.

1:37:43 >> Just had Zachary Bridges swinging at

1:37:45 everything. Jacob Baza rookie campaign,

1:37:49 but looks anything like unlike it on

1:37:52 that at bat as Lamar Sparks has to

1:37:54 matrix out of the way of the first

1:37:55 pitch. Goes up 1.

1:38:00 sparks a double his last time.

1:38:04 >> First hit of his young banana ball

1:38:05 career. Talked about it, Zack, a little

1:38:07 earlier. I mean, this this guy's got all

1:38:09 the talent in the universe. When his bat

1:38:12 is awake and alive, it's absolutely

1:38:15 powerful. Again, 18 home runs in the

1:38:17 Pioneer League in 2022. It reearned him

1:38:20 entry back into the minor leagues with

1:38:22 the Milwaukee Brewers. Spent last season

1:38:24 in the American Association.

1:38:26 when his bat goes, it can be powerful,

1:38:29 but it can easily go for contact. And

1:38:30 you saw the speed on the pads earlier.

1:38:34 Two- two coming from Big Red.

1:38:38 And the count runs full. And we have

1:38:39 Zack Phillips to thank for Lamar Sparks

1:38:42 coming to Banana Land. They've been

1:38:43 great friends since 2023. Became best

1:38:46 buddies playing Fortnite together.

1:38:47 Philly's been begging Sparks to come

1:38:49 every year since he joined the Frey. So

1:38:52 Lamar earns the sprint right there and

1:38:57 is going to respect the bananas ball for

1:39:00 sprint defense. Just takes one base.

1:39:01 >> Well, I tell you what, what a confidence

1:39:03 building type of game this can be for

1:39:05 Lamar Sparks. Only got one plate

1:39:06 appearance at Florida State, but today

1:39:09 has been productive, has been

1:39:10 disciplined at the plate and now on base

1:39:12 twice. Scored a run in his first plate

1:39:15 appearance. Now on to first with Tiner

1:39:17 Hughes coming up. Again, the

1:39:18 firefighters, they're putting some

1:39:20 pressure on here, but they've got to

1:39:21 find a way to get a run in the bottom

1:39:23 half of the six with Tiner Hughes up.

1:39:26 >> Off speed in there for strike one.

1:39:31 >> Yeah, Lamar turned down some really

1:39:33 enticing offers to start his banana ball

1:39:36 career. Had some affiliated contracts on

1:39:38 the table. Could have gone down and

1:39:39 played in the Mexican League, but Philly

1:39:42 had finally whispered enough sweeten

1:39:44 things into his ear. He was also at the

1:39:45 game, one of the two games in Houston

1:39:48 last year, Bananas and Tailgator. Spent

1:39:50 the game in the dugout, chatted with

1:39:52 Gillum for 10 minutes.

1:39:55 Not only that, but the Bananas Foster,

1:39:57 which speaks so much to Lamar Spark's

1:39:59 story. He was adopted from birth, as was

1:40:01 his sister. That really spoke to the

1:40:04 wholesome aspect of banana ball, and

1:40:06 that really sold him on what he could do

1:40:08 here in the sport. 100%.

1:40:11 22 now on Tiner who has a single and a

1:40:14 double so far this afternoon.

1:40:20 >> They're in his third game as a

1:40:21 firefighter. Just a triple away from a

1:40:24 cycle across the three games. It won't

1:40:26 be a threeagger, but it will be extra

1:40:28 bases. Sparks can really fly. He'll get

1:40:31 a stop sign for Cory Pie.

1:40:35 >> It's Tiner two bags. Second double of

1:40:37 the ball game. He's three for three. I

1:40:39 told you Tiner Hughes has been a very

1:40:41 important bat for this firefired lineup

1:40:43 and it's exactly that reason. Two strike

1:40:46 approach finds a way to rope it into

1:40:48 left field. Lamar Sparks was giving it

1:40:50 everything it had. Just a little bit too

1:40:52 big of a bounce into Ty Jackson's glove.

1:40:54 But now runners at second and third and

1:40:56 Peanut who had a triple last night who's

1:40:58 shown some power in banana ball has a

1:41:00 chance to tie this thing up.

1:41:02 >> Inning winning run 90 ft away.

1:41:06 01 to Green. make it 0 and two. That's

1:41:09 the splitter from Bazel. It was filthy.

1:41:16 Jake a strike away. He survives. Backto

1:41:20 back splitters gets Peanut swinging and

1:41:23 strands a pair in scoring position.

1:41:26 Impressive stuff from Jacob Baza. Yet

1:41:28 again, a more laborous inning than what

1:41:30 we saw in the fifth, but he bears down,

1:41:33 gets the punch out against Kaden Green.

1:41:36 And the Nanners still hold the lead in

1:41:39 tonight's game.

1:41:41 So, 2-1 Bananas with three innings to

1:41:44 play. Reminder, every run scored in the

1:41:47 final inning counts as a point. Well,

1:41:50 Cass calls the sheet race for the folks

1:41:54 here in historic Racing Stadium.

1:41:57 Bo Scala gets to call the sheet race for

1:42:00 everybody here in virtual banana land

1:42:01 and we are off. My favorite promotion of

1:42:04 all time. It is neck and neck around the

1:42:06 first turn. Brown with a slight lead.

1:42:08 Light blue we'll call him. Teal right

1:42:11 behind him. Don't count out light green

1:42:13 nor yellow now. Teal is in the front.

1:42:15 Oh, look out. Light green pulling ahead.

1:42:17 This is the tightest sheet race in the

1:42:20 history of the Savannah Bananas. Yellow

1:42:22 pulling ahead coming around the final

1:42:24 bend. Yellow's got a lead. Brown, green,

1:42:28 teal all right behind her. Here comes

1:42:31 yellow. Can she hold on? You bet. What a

1:42:34 win. A photo finish. Brown right behind

1:42:37 her. Then light green. Teal. A very

1:42:40 close fourth. That's as good a heat race

1:42:42 as you'll ever see.

1:42:43 >> Yeller flipped over the finish line too.

1:42:46 Flipping for joy going through it.

1:42:48 Barely broke the line.

1:42:51 Let's get another look at the photo

1:42:54 finish.

1:42:58 >> Really impressive late burst. That's

1:43:00 what we call the kick in the sheet race

1:43:02 world from the lady in yellow.

1:43:07 And back to your regularly scheduled

1:43:09 content. That would be banana ball. Zack

1:43:12 Phillips first multi-ining outing of his

1:43:15 firefighters career. He's got a ball and

1:43:17 a strike on Max Young Goldberg.

1:43:20 >> Zack Bridges gave it a look. Didn't have

1:43:22 a chance at it.

1:43:24 >> Anytime he summoned Zack Phillips has

1:43:26 always been able to just pick up the job

1:43:28 that's been asked of him. Certain it

1:43:31 wasn't exactly the plan that he pitched

1:43:33 multiple innings considering they would

1:43:35 have liked Christian Dearman to be able

1:43:36 to throw an inning or two. Thrust Javon

1:43:39 Ray into the game probably earlier than

1:43:40 the firefighters wanted. But for Zack

1:43:43 Phillips, he relishes the opportunity to

1:43:46 try and shove against his former squad.

1:43:51 >> Swing and a miss. Philly sits down Max

1:43:54 Young Goldberg

1:43:57 >> and continues his torrent start to a

1:43:59 firefighter's career.

1:44:00 >> That's an ultimate training for a rookie

1:44:02 and how quick an atbat can go. That

1:44:05 strikeout landed at 45 seconds. I don't

1:44:07 know that Maxel Goldberg has ever had an

1:44:09 at bat that quick in his life where he

1:44:11 faced that many pitches.

1:44:15 >> Well, now Dan Oburst, who famously loves

1:44:17 to swing it against Southpaws.

1:44:20 Fly out and a line out so far today.

1:44:22 Chopper to the left side. Lacy cuts in

1:44:25 front of Green 360. That was a seed

1:44:28 across the diamond just in time to get

1:44:30 Danny O.

1:44:31 >> They call him Showtime for a reason,

1:44:33 folks. That was not easy, but boy was it

1:44:35 effective for Logan Lacy twisting and

1:44:38 turning and finding a way to get it over

1:44:39 in time.

1:44:40 >> It's kind of a situation where I think

1:44:41 it's two guys kind of fighting it out to

1:44:43 try and record a trick play. They get so

1:44:46 close to each other. Lacy eventually

1:44:48 takes over and doesn't really have the

1:44:50 time to think about what he's going to

1:44:51 do anymore. Instead, he's just got to

1:44:53 focus on recording the out, but did so

1:44:55 successfully.

1:44:57 >> 02 to KJ.

1:44:59 He does not bite. an RBI sprint, a

1:45:02 double, a run scored, and a line out for

1:45:05 Kyle Jackson

1:45:08 as it has been an excellent start to

1:45:11 World Tour number three for KJ.

1:45:15 Trick pitch from Philly up and in and

1:45:18 not far enough away from Bridges for

1:45:20 Jackson to buy for first.

1:45:23 >> He had a goal of getting a couple

1:45:24 different sub two-minute innings. Once

1:45:26 he lost that, he wouldn't go for the

1:45:27 trick pitch strikeout.

1:45:29 >> Oh, going for it again. and KJ fouled

1:45:33 down the first baseline. I'll

1:45:35 >> tell you what, that won't count. But did

1:45:37 you see Mason Maxwell throwing his body

1:45:39 out on the line to find a way to stop

1:45:41 that?

1:45:43 It was an impressive play for Mason.

1:45:45 Won't count, but it will in my brain and

1:45:46 in my heart.

1:45:48 >> That's all that matters.

1:45:49 >> Correct.

1:45:52 So, another 22 coming from the pride of

1:45:55 Tex Arcana, Arkansas to the man out of

1:45:57 Bowling Green, Ohio.

1:46:01 Former teammates

1:46:03 doing battle

1:46:05 here in our 100-year-old ballpark.

1:46:07 Payoff pitch.

1:46:10 Chopped foul. Let's do it again.

1:46:14 KJ always very emotive at the box or in

1:46:17 the box rather.

1:46:20 Talking to himself after he fouled off

1:46:22 the 3-2. This one skyed in the infield.

1:46:25 ZB throws the mask right into Philly and

1:46:27 can't catch the ball. KJ hustling the

1:46:30 whole way is into second and that kids

1:46:32 is why you run out every single ball in

1:46:35 the field. Kyle Jackson busting it out

1:46:37 of the box is in scoring position on a

1:46:40 popup that was only about 10 ft in front

1:46:42 of first in front of home plate. And you

1:46:43 saw the throw of the mask put Philly on

1:46:46 the turf. He kind of crumbled there. Not

1:46:49 sure if maybe Zack Bridges was aware of

1:46:51 that kind of hearing it as he was trying

1:46:53 to field that ball. Either way, that is

1:46:56 a costly error or could be for the

1:47:00 firefighters, especially with Bill Loy

1:47:02 up at the dish. A guy who batted over

1:47:04 500 against the firefighters last

1:47:07 season. Hot shot foul. And of course,

1:47:10 Bill Loy has caught Zack Phillips more

1:47:12 than anybody else in his illustrious

1:47:15 banana ball career, so nobody knows him

1:47:17 better.

1:47:23 Ball in two strikes.

1:47:29 Philly doing a great job of jumping

1:47:30 ahead as per usual in vintage form.

1:47:35 Bouncer to Kaden Green. Oh, he muffs it.

1:47:38 A firefighter defensive collapse will

1:47:41 lead to a run for the Nanners. Throw all

1:47:42 the way home. Bill's going to get all

1:47:44 the way to second.

1:47:48 That is what my junior varsity baseball

1:47:51 coach Joe Defino would call a

1:47:52 catastrophe. An error from your catcher,

1:47:55 an error from your shorts stop, and then

1:47:57 your center fielder doesn't hit the cut

1:47:59 off. So, Bill is in scoring position.

1:48:01 And that's JT Sakalov who takes his

1:48:03 place at second. Great speed in scoring

1:48:06 position now.

1:48:08 >> One just gets right underneath Peanut

1:48:10 probably thinking trick play all the way

1:48:13 and it just goes by him. We saw him with

1:48:15 a wet field in Secret. Peel had a little

1:48:16 trouble going for something right there.

1:48:18 The wet field. Maybe it plays again. But

1:48:20 either way, the firefighters,

1:48:23 you're inches, centimeters away from

1:48:24 getting out of the inning. And instead,

1:48:26 Zack Phillips now has to try and get out

1:48:28 of damage here with a run across here in

1:48:31 the top half of the seventh.

1:48:35 >> Trick pitch misses high.

1:48:37 >> Oh, okay.

1:48:38 >> Deuces

1:48:40 on Jackson Olsson. One for three on the

1:48:42 day. Make it a full count.

1:48:47 Ball four scores another run.

1:48:51 >> The payoff

1:48:54 >> liner into right field. McDow's playing

1:48:56 very shallow. Sakov's getting the wave

1:48:58 around the throw home.

1:49:01 Oh, it's not in time. The hesitation

1:49:04 from McDow allows Sakalov to score who

1:49:07 never hesitated and it's two runs now

1:49:10 for the Nanners in the top of the seven.

1:49:12 This is the pr prime example of the

1:49:14 Tyler Gillum green light special base

1:49:17 running system. You got to put pressure

1:49:19 on the defenders. And they notice a

1:49:22 slight hesitation from McDallin right

1:49:24 field and suckle up. He's aggressive.

1:49:26 That's what his game is all about right

1:49:29 now for the Savannah Bananas. There was

1:49:31 no doubt that he was trying to score

1:49:33 there. And the Bananas, they know

1:49:34 playing as the visiting squad, you've

1:49:36 got to get multiple runs in these

1:49:38 innings. So now they've got that edge

1:49:40 going into the bottom half of the

1:49:42 seventh.

1:49:42 >> But more importantly, it shows when you

1:49:44 make mistakes, someone has to take

1:49:45 advantage of them. The bananas have done

1:49:47 just that against the firefighters. The

1:49:49 Black and Neon have not done that enough

1:49:51 to someone else. And right now, they're

1:49:52 burying themselves in the top of the

1:49:54 seventh. Rat goes lightly down the line.

1:49:57 Mason Maxwell

1:49:59 just gets the trick play, then goes

1:50:01 behind the back just because he wants

1:50:02 to. That'll end the frame, but not

1:50:04 before some disastrophe fielding. plates

1:50:07 two runs for the Savannah Bananas. The

1:50:09 firefighters on their heels yet again

1:50:12 have to find a way in the bottom half of

1:50:14 the inning here on the Savannah Bananas

1:50:16 YouTube page.

1:50:35 Heat. Heat.

1:51:08 Heat.

1:51:12 Heat.

1:51:34 Oh my goodness. Banana balls back just

1:51:36 like that. Grant Besser, the new man on

1:51:38 the mound, comes in for the teeth of

1:51:40 this firefighters lineup. Cornet, Lacy,

1:51:43 and McDow. 3, four, and five as G Baby

1:51:48 sons his tighty whiteies

1:51:52 has a one-two count on DC3 and there's

1:51:56 the strike out. Thought he had it a

1:51:57 pitch earlier. Pulls the string,

1:52:00 delivers that signature change up

1:52:03 and a nice start to his outing. I mean,

1:52:05 this is kind of the guy who's the Philly

1:52:07 replacement for the Savannah Bananas.

1:52:09 works awfully quick. And that right

1:52:11 there was a 22 second strikeout against

1:52:14 DC3

1:52:17 now. Logan Lacy

1:52:22 >> and he's behind one two. Can't connect

1:52:24 on the change

1:52:27 and a swing and a miss. The change up

1:52:30 claims another victim. Backto back case

1:52:34 to start the afternoon for Grant Besser.

1:52:37 And that's a trick pitch. Oh yeah. 360 a

1:52:40 beauty

1:52:43 trick pitch strikeout. Should be a trick

1:52:46 play. Confirmation from Josh Tlespki.

1:52:48 Yeah.

1:52:57 >> Darien McDow

1:53:00 trying to figure out

1:53:02 the Banana's fourth round draft pick.

1:53:05 It's just a three pitch mix. Sits high

1:53:07 80s. maybe touches 90 with the fast ball

1:53:10 and McDow does just that. Hot shot into

1:53:13 left center. Ty Jackson can't connect on

1:53:16 the turf burner and McDow's going to

1:53:19 chug his way all the way to third. A

1:53:22 single and a two base error on the

1:53:24 Nanders left fielder. He'll bring the

1:53:26 innings tying run to the dish.

1:53:28 >> Find them any way they can come. Darien

1:53:30 McDow ropes one into left field. It's a

1:53:33 hot shot and then just good heady

1:53:35 running as well on the pad. see the ball

1:53:37 go to the track and just keep the engine

1:53:39 burning.

1:53:41 >> Look out. Mason Maxwell got a piece of

1:53:43 him.

1:53:46 >> See if the firefighters have something

1:53:48 special in store for us. I

1:53:49 >> think they do.

1:54:02 >> It's a Tik Tok trend. I'm not sure our

1:54:04 guys nailed it. I would love to see more

1:54:06 of a dive action next time, but they

1:54:08 were going for it.

1:54:09 >> They were not very impressive jumps.

1:54:10 >> Run as fast as you can. I'll take that.

1:54:12 It's a wet feel, man.

1:54:14 >> The jumps that are supposed to be

1:54:15 flight. It didn't feel like flight to me

1:54:17 in the background.

1:54:19 >> Bouncer to Ryan Cox. Fielded between the

1:54:21 legs over to first. Ziggy behind the

1:54:23 back. Are you kidding me? Fourth double

1:54:26 trick play of the ball game that Alex

1:54:28 Ziggler's been on the back end of. And

1:54:31 the Nanners jump ahead 3-1 while adding

1:54:33 a couple more trick plays to the tally.

1:54:35 >> That just might be the nail in the

1:54:37 coffin for the Savannah Bananas earning

1:54:39 the equalizer point in this contest.

1:54:42 Coxy fielding between the legs and Alex

1:54:45 Ziggler. Yet another tremendous play as

1:54:48 the designated fielder at first base

1:54:51 today.

1:54:52 Besser

1:54:54 strands runners on the corners as you

1:54:56 can see through seven innings. 3-1 lead

1:54:59 for the Nanners. And talking about trick

1:55:01 plays, let's take a look at some of the

1:55:04 best. Got the first rack flip of 2026.

1:55:07 Logan Lacy real smooth. That was with

1:55:10 the bases loaded going between the legs.

1:55:11 Darren McDow fantastic between the legs

1:55:14 catch and then it's been the Alex

1:55:16 Ziggler show at first. has been a part

1:55:18 of four double trick plays and that is

1:55:21 really the difference in this ball game

1:55:23 as the Nanners in their first away game

1:55:25 since July 22nd 2023 in Rancho Cucamonga

1:55:30 their first chance ever at the equalizer

1:55:32 point look poised to snag it the

1:55:34 firefighters will turn to Johnny Hmel

1:55:38 his second year in the back end of this

1:55:40 firefighters bullpen you look at that

1:55:42 3.86 86 erra as a rookie that is elite

1:55:45 in banana ball, a sport that very much

1:55:47 caters to hitting.

1:55:48 >> I say this all the time about Johnny

1:55:50 Hmel. He knows how to operate in big

1:55:52 time situations with pressure on the

1:55:55 line. This is a guy who closed out

1:55:57 Kucky's first ever trip to the College

1:55:59 World Series. then closed out their

1:56:01 first ever win in the College World

1:56:03 Series and then last year earning three

1:56:05 showdown shutdowns against the Savannah

1:56:08 Bananas. Two in this very park at

1:56:11 Grayson Stadium in an August win over

1:56:14 the Nanners. He had a little bit of

1:56:17 trouble at Florida State. Can he find a

1:56:19 way to get something going here at

1:56:22 Grayson Stadium? The firefighters

1:56:23 desperately need it. A bald man is

1:56:24 shirtless. An inflatable split has

1:56:26 walked in front of us. professor is

1:56:29 looking at people who are shirtless.

1:56:32 >> Yeah, this guy just won something.

1:56:33 >> Uh he won the Mr. Olympia

1:56:35 >> probably because he took a shirt off.

1:56:37 >> Yeah,

1:56:38 >> it's a big difference.

1:56:40 >> One of those bar raisers here.

1:56:42 >> Yeah, he's bald too. That they probably

1:56:43 want to get him something there.

1:56:47 >> Hummel's got 910 and one in the Ner's

1:56:50 lineup. Cox, Ty Jackson, and Meadows.

1:56:54 It's a devastating three pitch mix.

1:56:58 Fast ball, curveball, slider. And it's a

1:57:00 cuttery slider.

1:57:07 Two balls and a strike on the banana

1:57:10 shortstop who

1:57:12 is 0 for one. Couple fall for sprints.

1:57:15 Flew out his last time. It was his

1:57:19 carry. The one sixth played appearance

1:57:25 of 2026. It was the first time he was

1:57:27 retired. Safe harbor rule as he takes

1:57:29 off on the 3-1 means that a strike is

1:57:31 not called on him even though he left

1:57:33 the box.

1:57:36 Payoff pitch

1:57:40 lifted out to center retreating as Noah

1:57:42 Bridges and backpedaling will make the

1:57:45 snag. And that catch right there is the

1:57:47 firefighters officially conceding the

1:57:49 equalizer point to the bananas. They

1:57:51 needed

1:57:52 >> some serious double trick plays here to

1:57:53 fight it off.

1:57:54 >> At that point, he's going backwards. You

1:57:56 needed five trick plays. It's It was

1:57:57 going to be tough, but at this point,

1:57:59 you're now conceding. You're going to go

1:58:01 into the ninth inning at the very least

1:58:05 or at the very most potentially down

1:58:07 4-1. It could be 4-2. They still at the

1:58:10 bottom of the inning to correct

1:58:11 potentially win the eighth. But, you

1:58:14 know, the Bananas at this point are

1:58:16 going to have four points.

1:58:19 >> Ty Jackson. Did he hold up? Yes, says

1:58:21 Cal Alman.

1:58:31 I mean, hypothetically, you could get

1:58:33 backto-back triple trick plays.

1:58:37 >> Probably not.

1:58:39 >> You would really need something to go

1:58:41 right for you to get backto-back triple

1:58:43 trick plays. But hey, anything could

1:58:45 happen.

1:58:48 >> 3-1.

1:58:51 >> Pop to the right side.

1:58:53 Premium underneath it. He will tip it

1:58:56 and under the leg. There's the double

1:58:58 trick play as the firefighters pull

1:59:01 within three trick plays of the Nanners.

1:59:04 They're now down 14-11. McDow and Hughes

1:59:06 combining on that one.

1:59:07 >> All right. Well, you've given yourself a

1:59:09 shot now if nothing else. Again, though,

1:59:10 I want to talk about how impressive

1:59:12 Darren McDow's been in right field. He's

1:59:14 had range, shown speed, but he's also

1:59:16 shown the willingness to go after trick

1:59:18 plays. That one gets away from Zachary

1:59:20 Bridges. Dr. Meadows will just scoot on

1:59:23 down to first and join Mason Maxwell.

1:59:29 >> Another steal of first for the doctor.

1:59:35 >> Known for those. He had four of them

1:59:37 last year. Tied for the tour lead.

1:59:39 Just a headsy ball player. I mean, he

1:59:41 knows his role in that leadoff spot.

1:59:43 He's just trying to get on. Be a single.

1:59:45 Steals a first. Ball four sprints. Now

1:59:49 we'll see if he tries to get himself in

1:59:52 motion against Johnny Hmel as Alexi will

1:59:55 foul off the 10 pitch.

2:00:00 >> Super 0 for four today.

2:00:04 >> Couple strikeouts, couple flyyous.

2:00:07 If you to tell me Reese Alexiatis was 0

2:00:09 for four in a game and you're still down

2:00:11 potentially 4-1 going to the bottom and

2:00:14 you ended the ninth inning be awfully

2:00:16 tough to believe that speaks to the

2:00:19 depth of this veteran Bananas lineup and

2:00:22 again the trick playability

2:00:26 split going Buck Wild in his inflatable

2:00:28 suit as that one scrapes the outside

2:00:30 corner.

2:00:34 One and two on Super Reese.

2:00:43 >> And that one just a bit too far outside.

2:00:50 Deuces wild here in the top of the

2:00:52 eighth. There goes the doctor. Check

2:00:54 swing. Throw down to second. Not in

2:00:56 time. And check to first. Cal Alman says

2:01:00 that Alexi was able to hold up.

2:01:05 So Dr. steals first, he steals second.

2:01:07 He's in scoring position. And now ball

2:01:10 four scores him. That's how tough it is

2:01:11 to pitch in banana ball.

2:01:12 >> And that's exactly why you saw Meadows

2:01:14 taking off on the 2- two pitch. Now Lexi

2:01:19 just trying to play spoiler on any pitch

2:01:21 around the zone right now from Johnny

2:01:23 Humble and see if he can earn that ball

2:01:25 for Sprint.

2:01:27 Another payoff. That ball is going to be

2:01:30 blasted out to left center. No ball for

2:01:33 Sprint, but extra bases instead. Super

2:01:37 drives in the doctor and the Nanders

2:01:40 offense absolutely relentless. More two

2:01:43 out damage and Alexi officially joins

2:01:46 the hit party.

2:01:52 First extra base hit of tour number

2:01:54 three for the man out of Manhattan

2:01:56 Beach, California

2:02:00 >> as Young Goldberg bounces it to Maxwell

2:02:02 between the legs, grabs the trick play,

2:02:04 gets it over to Hmel in time. But the

2:02:07 Bananas have officially won the

2:02:09 equalizer point. That means they are up

2:02:11 four to one and they lead this eighth

2:02:14 inning. A chance to make it a 5 to one

2:02:17 lead. We'll need to put up a goose egg

2:02:20 in the bottom half.

2:02:26 >> Singing voices on cuz it's time for

2:02:28 yellow.

2:02:42 >> Shine for you.

2:02:49 Sing it loud. Savannah, Georgia.

2:03:06 And what was it called?

2:03:19 Oh,

2:03:36 yes.

2:03:50 We love you so much, Banana Nation. And

2:03:52 my friend Cole has something to say,

2:03:54 too.

2:03:57 >> Go.

2:04:04 Well, thanks to our hour and 21 minute

2:04:06 rain and lightning delay, the sun has

2:04:08 set a little bit here on Historic Grace

2:04:11 Stadium. Looking beautiful as ever in

2:04:14 year 101

2:04:16 of its fantastic existence.

2:04:19 Grant Besser out for his second inning

2:04:22 of work. Had runners on the corners in

2:04:24 the bottom of the seventh. Was able to

2:04:26 escape unscathed. Put a point up for the

2:04:29 Bananas. He had two runs of support in

2:04:32 that frame. He's got one run to work

2:04:33 with here in the eighth. What was really

2:04:35 impressive was the trick pitch strikeout

2:04:37 that he earned doing the 360 spin before

2:04:40 delivering his one-two pitch to Logan

2:04:43 Lacy. First trick pitch strikeout that

2:04:45 we've seen in a bananas game this

2:04:48 season. So great stuff from Gbaby. And

2:04:51 this guy who pitched in 55% of his games

2:04:55 out of the bullpen in college looks like

2:04:58 he's going to be a mainstay here for the

2:04:59 Bananas as Olsen tries to add on yet

2:05:03 another trick play and comes up empty

2:05:06 trying to snare that one barehanded.

2:05:09 It's not twice Noah Bridges has gotten

2:05:12 on base not necessarily because of a hit

2:05:14 but because of something that was missed

2:05:15 in the field or a fielder's choice.

2:05:17 Either way, the firefighters need it and

2:05:19 they will take it here in the bottom of

2:05:21 the eighth.

2:05:22 >> That's the That's the first time Bridges

2:05:23 has been aboard tonight. He had a strike

2:05:25 out and a fly out.

2:05:26 >> Second time this season. I mean,

2:05:27 >> there it is.

2:05:28 >> He did that in Florida State. In fact,

2:05:30 scored a run

2:05:31 >> the opener. That's a fact. And that's

2:05:33 what Bridges brings. When he puts the

2:05:35 ball on the ground like that, it's so

2:05:37 tough to get a trick play against him.

2:05:38 As you talked about, it was a trick play

2:05:40 missed at second. And

2:05:42 >> once you're not smooth with it, I mean,

2:05:44 there was no chance at Bridges at first.

2:05:50 his brother hanging tough. Zachary

2:05:54 >> ready for another one two from Grant

2:05:56 Grant Besser and that's a strike out.

2:05:58 It's a downright disgusting change up.

2:06:02 Best pitch in Besser's arsenal.

2:06:06 He's got three punch outs now. And as a

2:06:09 left-handed pitcher, you usually try and

2:06:11 throw that change up against the

2:06:13 opposite hand. You see the same thing

2:06:15 that Noah Nisnik does tossing that

2:06:17 circle change as a southpaw. It always

2:06:19 is really effective on that outside

2:06:22 corner of the plate against a

2:06:23 right-handed batter. And Niz and Besser

2:06:25 have very similar styles. You see Besser

2:06:27 loves to live with that fast ball up and

2:06:29 away to righties. Tunnels the breaking

2:06:31 ball and change up very well.

2:06:35 Little peek over at Noah on first. The

2:06:37 inning tying run.

2:06:41 Lamar Sparks having himself little

2:06:44 banana ball breakout. His third game

2:06:46 played

2:06:49 and off the end of the bat a mile high

2:06:52 out to left. Robert Anthony Cruz

2:06:54 backflip catch just for the fun of it.

2:06:57 Equalizer points already locked in. Rex

2:06:59 just out here added some more spice to

2:07:02 this banana ball game. Well, this is a

2:07:04 guy who wants to lead the world tour in

2:07:06 backflip catches in 2026.

2:07:10 did so successfully last year. He had

2:07:12 more than Dr. Meadows. I think a lot of

2:07:14 people forget that. But an impressive

2:07:16 play from Cruz and nearly an impressive

2:07:20 job by Jackson Olsen, but he couldn't

2:07:22 quite keep the banana ball in his glove

2:07:25 trying to apply a tag on Noah Bridges.

2:07:27 Yeah, the slide knocked the ball out.

2:07:29 That's a big swiped base there by

2:07:32 Bridges. inning tying run in scoring

2:07:33 position, but Ryan Cox pulling off his

2:07:35 signature move, the professor, as the

2:07:38 Bananas win the eighth inning. They had

2:07:40 another trick play to the tally and they

2:07:42 lead 51 going to the ninth.

2:07:48 Another look at the smooth work from

2:07:51 Ryan Cox as we'll get it on down to the

2:07:53 young professor.

2:07:55 Ladies and gentlemen, the Bananas win

2:07:58 the inning and get an equalizer pointer

2:08:00 point, making the score 5 to one in

2:08:04 favor of the Savannah Bananas. But here

2:08:06 is the thing about the game of banana

2:08:08 ball in the final inning. Every run

2:08:11 counts for a point. That means the

2:08:13 firefighters are not counted out yet.

2:08:16 They are going to have their

2:08:17 opportunity. So ladies and gentlemen,

2:08:20 you have made it through the rain. You

2:08:22 are still here to be entertained. And we

2:08:24 are not done yet. So let's get ready

2:08:26 because this is the final

2:08:30 in

2:08:37 a league that has showed a lot of parody

2:08:40 just nine games into its existence. The

2:08:43 Bananas trying to separate themselves

2:08:45 from the pack. The only unbeaten team go

2:08:47 to the ninth inning with a four-point

2:08:49 advantage. And a reminder, every run

2:08:52 scored in the final inning counts as a

2:08:55 point. So they're trying to add some

2:08:57 insurance against the defending pitcher

2:08:58 of the year, Ben Dum, will be used for a

2:09:01 second straight night.

2:09:02 >> Boy, he would really like to continue

2:09:03 the form that he showed last night. Got

2:09:05 into a little bit of trouble, but then

2:09:07 ultimately got out of it. Obviously, we

2:09:09 saw what happened at the end of the

2:09:11 first game against the Loco Beach

2:09:13 Coconuts. Three innings G, three runs

2:09:14 given up in the top half of the ninth.

2:09:16 But Ben Dum going back to his usual run

2:09:19 of form last night. You look at the

2:09:20 numbers, 26 and 2/3. He does not give

2:09:23 you free passes very often. And he does

2:09:25 not give up a ton of runs. Now, can he

2:09:28 find that form again and just find some

2:09:30 sort of way to get the firefighters into

2:09:32 the bottom half with any sort of

2:09:33 striking distance.

2:09:34 >> Eastston Parish quickly behind O2 pride

2:09:37 of Leveria, Texas. The Banana seventh

2:09:40 round draft pick

2:09:41 >> and he goes down on three pitches, three

2:09:44 straight heaters gassed up. Nice start

2:09:46 for Ben Dum.

2:09:48 14sec strikeout for Ben Dum there

2:09:50 against Easton Parish. It's tough enough

2:09:53 to come off the bench in baseball. It's

2:09:55 certainly tough in banana ball as well.

2:09:57 Parish has now done that twice, but each

2:10:00 time it's resulted in a K for the

2:10:02 rookie.

2:10:07 One to Kyle Jackson.

2:10:10 fold on the off speed

2:10:17 and now a one-two count on KJ. It's one

2:10:20 for three

2:10:22 on the afternoon that has turned into an

2:10:24 evening.

2:10:25 Shout out our rain and lightning delay.

2:10:28 >> Mother nature, what a hack.

2:10:32 >> Oh, it's

2:10:33 it's always an adventure in Savannah,

2:10:35 Georgia.

2:10:38 2-2

2:10:40 >> slow tapper to Maxwell. He will flip it

2:10:43 to Dumb just in time. KJ hustling down

2:10:45 the line. I think Mason maybe thought

2:10:47 about trying for a trick play there,

2:10:48 then saw KJ getting down the line.

2:10:50 Decided the love of the game will have

2:10:51 to wait for another day.

2:10:54 >> Yeah, especially with the equalizer

2:10:55 point out of the equation. I mean, you

2:10:57 just got to get your outs and you can't

2:10:58 allow any more base runners. Every run

2:11:00 in this inning counting for a point. You

2:11:02 just can't see yourself go down any more

2:11:04 than you've already got if you're the

2:11:06 firefighters.

2:11:09 Bill Loy,

2:11:11 the king of Dublin, Georgia, the Duke of

2:11:13 Banana, one for four.

2:11:17 Got his first hit of year number nine

2:11:20 today.

2:11:22 RBI single that started the five run

2:11:24 fourth.

2:11:28 What an uncomfortable at bat Ben Dum is

2:11:30 for anybody, but especially righties.

2:11:32 Fast ball, circle change, slider.

2:11:37 So, it's about 88 to 90 with the Heat.

2:11:41 >> So, good at pounding the zone and

2:11:43 getting ahead. Delivers a 2-2 here.

2:11:47 Bill off the fist dunks it in for

2:11:49 another knock.

2:11:54 Multi-hit ball game for Loy and he gives

2:11:57 way to JT

2:12:00 Sakalov for the second time in this

2:12:02 contest.

2:12:06 Sakov scored for Bill in that two-run

2:12:09 seven.

2:12:14 Jackson Olsen

2:12:16 >> is behind 01.

2:12:19 >> Two for four in the ball game. A run

2:12:21 driven in

2:12:24 a run scored and Olson four for eight on

2:12:27 the tour.

2:12:33 Looks calm, cool, collected at the dish

2:12:36 in his fourth year as a nanner.

2:12:42 Now I guess we have to qualify this as

2:12:44 year five as a nanner. Started in the

2:12:46 2022 summer series. This is his fourth

2:12:48 tour as Sakalib was off on the pitch.

2:12:50 Flipped out to South Trimble who takes

2:12:53 care of it and Ben Dum Vintage

2:12:56 back-to-back ball games where he's

2:12:57 locked down in the ninth and he keeps

2:13:00 the deficit at four for the

2:13:01 firefighters.

2:13:02 >> Line him up, fire him right back down.

2:13:04 Ben Dum the third. Cool, calm, and

2:13:06 collected again. Regain the form, but

2:13:10 now maybe the most prolific closer in

2:13:13 banana ball is about to make his

2:13:15 entrance. That's right, Frankie

2:13:17 Moscatello, the rookie.

2:13:20 We saw Danny Hosley last night. We did.

2:13:22 I think we're going to see Frankie

2:13:23 Moscatello to try and shut this one down

2:13:27 here on our Sunday ball game between the

2:13:30 nanners and firefighters. The young

2:13:32 professor

2:13:35 letting the folks know

2:13:38 that the freak Frankie is coming in from

2:13:40 the bullpen. I'm sure Young Prof's

2:13:42 actually talking about going to our

2:13:45 final half inning of Banana Ball. But

2:13:48 we're here to talk about Moscatello.

2:13:51 What a career that brings

2:13:54 Frankie to Banana Land. The man they

2:13:56 call Gazoo out of Rocky Point, New York.

2:14:00 One of the hardest throwers in the

2:14:01 sport. As you can see, a sixthrounder by

2:14:03 the Nanners. That was after 8 years of

2:14:06 professional baseball experience

2:14:08 highlighted by becoming the frontier

2:14:12 pitcher of the year in 2023 with Akipe

2:14:15 Quebec and he had 40 saves across his

2:14:17 last three years of independent ball

2:14:20 crosses 7 years of indie ball

2:14:22 experience. This is a guy who wrapped up

2:14:24 485

2:14:26 strikeouts. There's a big reason that

2:14:28 people have called them Frankie

2:14:29 strikeouts throughout his career. But if

2:14:32 he doesn't necessarily have the

2:14:34 strikeout stuff and the firefighters are

2:14:36 putting balls in play, but making soft

2:14:38 contact, three trick plays in this

2:14:41 inning from the Bananas to end the ball

2:14:43 game would make this game a record tire.

2:14:46 There would be 31 trick plays in this

2:14:49 ball game. And that would tie the Banana

2:14:51 Ball record that we saw set here in

2:14:53 Grayson Stadium last year on the 21st of

2:14:57 March.

2:14:58 And when you combine his numbers down in

2:15:02 the Mexican Pacific Winter League, over

2:15:04 500 career professional strikeouts for

2:15:07 Moscatello's

2:15:11 was a D2 Warrior at St. Thomas Ainus up

2:15:14 in Sparkle, New York

2:15:18 in the East Coast Conference.

2:15:21 Never got his affiliated shot,

2:15:25 but boy, what a pro baseball career he

2:15:27 has had.

2:15:29 Now parlaying it into banana ball.

2:15:32 He's got Kaden Green, Dalton Cornet, and

2:15:35 Logan Lacy. Two, three, and four.

2:15:38 >> Two to swing it for the firefighters.

2:15:40 >> If there is anything left in this

2:15:41 firefighter bunch, it's got to get laid

2:15:43 out now. the risk going into the third

2:15:46 weekend of this early world tour. The

2:15:48 only winless team going up against the

2:15:52 Loco Beach Coconuts next week in Little

2:15:53 Rock, Arkansas with the banana ball

2:15:55 standings so important here early on.

2:15:59 Any way to get momentum before you go on

2:16:01 the road again is of massive importance.

2:16:04 And Peanut works the count up to 3.

2:16:10 >> Moscatello is a strikeout artist.

2:16:16 loves to pound the zone. He just has to

2:16:18 find it and he throws four straight bad

2:16:20 ones to Green to open up the ninth.

2:16:24 Peanut won't even try to make the turn

2:16:25 and go for second. Just holds the brakes

2:16:28 right there at first. Put a runner

2:16:29 aboard. Remember, the firefighters still

2:16:31 very much have the golden at bat in

2:16:34 their pocket. I don't think they'd use

2:16:35 it in the next two batters between

2:16:37 Daltton Cordet and Logan Lacy. But watch

2:16:39 out, DC3 gets aboard. Do we see smoke go

2:16:42 in for him for a potential golden at

2:16:44 opportunity to come right back up?

2:16:49 >> Peter port in there for strike one.

2:16:51 Cornet won the first inning for the

2:16:53 firefighters. Walk-off single.

2:17:03 Lifts this one into shallow left center.

2:17:07 Meadows venturing over. He will tip it.

2:17:09 make sure he adds another trick play to

2:17:11 his tally. One down here in the last of

2:17:14 the ninth.

2:17:17 >> And we talked about wanting to get the

2:17:18 top of the order going

2:17:22 for the firefighters. DC3 had that first

2:17:24 hit in the first inning. It was a

2:17:26 walk-off, his first hit of the season,

2:17:27 and since then just kind of been ice

2:17:29 cold again.

2:17:32 Logan Lacy 0 for three today. He's been

2:17:36 a tough luck start to tour number three

2:17:38 for Showtime. One for 10 on the year.

2:17:41 He's had line outs in multiple games.

2:17:46 The talent, the work ethic, the ball

2:17:47 player, it'll all come into form in the

2:17:51 near future.

2:17:52 Those line outs will be made up for with

2:17:55 some softly

2:17:59 hit base knocks.

2:18:02 By the end of last year, he became the

2:18:04 best hitter against the Bananas on the

2:18:06 2025 World Tour. 379 average, three home

2:18:09 runs, 15 RBI against the Nanners.

2:18:12 Remember, he started slow last year as

2:18:13 well. Worked himself into form right

2:18:15 quick,

2:18:17 but again works himself up 3 in the

2:18:20 count. Lacy can move.

2:18:25 Peanut at first.

2:18:30 The three 0 from Moscatello. Got to be

2:18:32 taken all the way. Yep. No decision

2:18:34 necessary for Lacy.

2:18:37 Easy take as Peanut will go first to

2:18:39 third. Logan stays put at first. And now

2:18:41 the tying run in the on deck circle for

2:18:44 the firefighters with just one away.

2:18:46 Josh has talked all day about putting

2:18:48 pressure on the fielders. A couple of

2:18:49 ball four sprints does just that. Now

2:18:52 Darien McDall, we've talked about how

2:18:53 good he has been in the field. Can he

2:18:56 find it at the plate now? saw a single

2:18:59 got turned into a triple because he was

2:19:01 heading on the base pads. Can he find

2:19:03 something here? Keep this going for the

2:19:05 fighters.

2:19:09 Fast ball just misses.

2:19:21 Lacy's taking off. Check swing fouled

2:19:24 away.

2:19:28 Fascinating move from Logan Lacy trying

2:19:31 to fend off a potential game-ending

2:19:34 double play.

2:19:42 Lifted right side foul territory. Loy

2:19:45 and Young Goldberg in pursuit. Loy runs

2:19:48 into his manager Tyler Gillum. Didn't

2:19:51 get out of the way.

2:19:54 Oh, Bill had a great shot at that.

2:19:56 Skipper just had no idea where he was on

2:19:58 the field.

2:20:00 >> That's crazy.

2:20:00 >> Thought it bounced off the netting at

2:20:02 first, so it might not have been any

2:20:03 harm. And he foul, but man, Bill was on

2:20:06 his horse trying to get over there.

2:20:08 >> Well, Gillum's over there right outside

2:20:09 the dugout. I mean, he's kind of beating

2:20:11 himself up. Saw him hanging his head.

2:20:13 Looked like he gave himself a little

2:20:14 dang it.

2:20:16 He knows that Bill Loy always a gamer

2:20:18 tries to make every out he can in foul

2:20:20 territory and certainly got in the way

2:20:23 of the bananas co- captain right there.

2:20:25 We've seen Bill run into the young

2:20:28 professor. We've seen Michael Golinsky

2:20:30 get absolutely smoked. Other

2:20:31 videographers get taken out. Never a

2:20:33 coach in the way. There's a growing

2:20:35 list.

2:20:37 One, two.

2:20:39 Heck of a stop by Loy as the count evens

2:20:42 up on premium.

2:20:44 Former Padres's minor leaguer, sixth

2:20:47 round pick in 2024. Retired from

2:20:49 affiliated ball to spend more time with

2:20:52 his family. He's got the love for

2:20:54 baseball again here in Banana Land.

2:20:57 Swinging it in a big spot. The two with

2:20:58 Lacy on the move. And a heck of a job by

2:21:01 McDow to spoil it as that one's not

2:21:03 caught by the fans. And

2:21:06 >> every time that pops up, you worry as

2:21:08 the opposing team that's the one that's

2:21:10 going to get caught finally. almost

2:21:12 through three games and neither of these

2:21:14 teams have induced a fan caught foul

2:21:16 ball.

2:21:19 >> Deep breath and another 2-2 from

2:21:22 Moscatello.

2:21:24 Fouled away again. McDow hanging tough.

2:21:29 The focuses last season West Florida was

2:21:32 on pitch selection. and he's done a

2:21:33 really good job of that so far in this

2:21:36 battle between Frankie Moscatello just

2:21:39 hanging in with pitches around the zone.

2:21:44 Another 2-2 Lacy on the move again. It's

2:21:46 a ball and a pump fake from Loy.

2:21:50 So, Showtime swipes second.

2:21:54 Double play no longer an option.

2:21:57 Ball four will score two

2:22:02 and bring the tying run to the dish.

2:22:05 Payoff pitch from Moscatello

2:22:08 to McDow.

2:22:10 Called strike three. Heater gets the

2:22:12 outside corner.

2:22:15 >> I know exactly what Darien McDow's going

2:22:17 to say. He thought the pitch right

2:22:19 before was in the exact same spot, but

2:22:21 Moscatello

2:22:23 steady right on there.

2:22:28 Perfect execution on a big pressure

2:22:32 payoff pitch.

2:22:35 Mason Maxwell, the firefighter's last

2:22:37 hope.

2:22:38 He's just got to pass the baton.

2:22:41 Tying run still in the on deck circle.

2:22:43 It's Dakota McFaten. The firefighters

2:22:45 still have their golden batter.

2:22:50 Matt Max has reached once in three

2:22:53 trips. 0 for two with the hit by pitch.

2:22:57 Mospatello's found the zone. Couple fast

2:22:59 balls fouled off. Firefighters down to

2:23:01 their final strike.

2:23:14 02 coming from Moscatello

2:23:17 to Maxwell

2:23:20 into foul territory. Long run for KJ.

2:23:23 Look out. No chance.

2:23:30 Green leads off third. Lacy off second.

2:23:36 Firefighters need one more guy to reach.

2:23:41 Another 02

2:23:43 coming from Gazoo.

2:23:45 Lifted to center. Dr. Meadows underneath

2:23:48 it. Tip drill. You bet.

2:23:53 The Savannah Bananas remain the only

2:23:56 unbeaten team in the BBCL. They sweep

2:23:59 this twoame set against the

2:24:01 Firefighters. They are 3-0 on the year

2:24:04 and they do it in dominating fashion. A

2:24:06 51 win and 18 trick plays as they claim

2:24:09 the equalizer point, the most we've seen

2:24:12 from a team in the Banana Ball

2:24:13 Championship League era. And it's the

2:24:15 perfect ending for the Savannah Bananas

2:24:17 in this ball game. They finish off the

2:24:19 sweep of the firefighters, but also for

2:24:21 only the second time in Banana Ball

2:24:24 history, we see a game with 30 combined

2:24:28 trick plays between two teams. A very

2:24:31 impressive game from both squads from a

2:24:33 defensive standpoint, but yet another

2:24:36 allaround dominant performance from the

2:24:39 Savannah Bananas.

2:24:43 Their reward

2:24:46 is forming into a heart in the center of

2:24:48 the diamond and shaking their toases

2:24:51 off.

2:24:55 The Nanners

2:24:57 will set their sights on the defending

2:25:00 champion party animals next weekend in

2:25:03 the Superdome in New Orleans

2:25:10 as Derek Clenna takes over on the mic.

2:25:24 behind.

2:25:38 Oh,

2:25:40 somebody

2:25:43 celebrate with me tonight.

2:25:47 Heat. Heat.

2:26:15 Derek Clenna serenades the Grayson

2:26:17 Stadium faithful who braved an hour and

2:26:20 20 minute rain and lightning delay that

2:26:23 stopped action in the top of the fourth

2:26:25 inning. And how about Alex Ziegler? The

2:26:28 designated fielder. Doesn't get a plate

2:26:30 appearance, but downright dominant over

2:26:32 at first base. He's your showman of the

2:26:34 game.

2:26:34 >> I mean, this is exactly what the

2:26:37 designated fielder was kind of put in

2:26:38 place for, guys.

2:26:42 And he he racked up four trick plays.

2:26:45 All of them coming on double trick

2:26:47 plays. It started with Kyle Jackson

2:26:50 early in the ball game, fielding it

2:26:52 through his legs and then he combined

2:26:54 with a couple with Ryan Cox and even one

2:26:56 from Jackson Olsson. You see the

2:26:58 beautiful kick to Ziggler fielding that

2:27:01 behind his back. Allaround great game

2:27:04 from Ziggy and it even came with his

2:27:06 father Bruce in attendance to watch him

2:27:09 this weekend which is just super cool.

2:27:11 Ziggy so close to his father and the man

2:27:14 who helped him craft these plays. Let's

2:27:16 hear from the man himself for that to

2:27:18 Sam Bowman we go.

2:27:19 >> Yeah, thanks Bo. I'm with our showman of

2:27:21 the game, Alex. Ziggy Ziggler. Ziggy,

2:27:24 the trick plays never more important

2:27:26 they were in a game like this where the

2:27:28 bananas are the away team. Was that the

2:27:29 mindset for you knowing going out to

2:27:31 first base, it's trick play central?

2:27:33 >> Absolutely. I mean, that's always the

2:27:34 goal. I just want to do something that

2:27:35 no one else is doing and just putting

2:27:37 smiles on faces. And I mean, how many

2:27:39 trick plays did we have today? We had

2:27:41 like 30 today, which is insane, you

2:27:42 know. That's awesome. Is that the new

2:27:44 record? Does anyone know that?

2:27:46 Okay. Okay. But it was awesome. You

2:27:47 know, I just been I've been putting in

2:27:48 the work

2:27:50 >> every single day and um you know, it

2:27:52 works in the end.

2:27:54 >> Ziggy, these guys clearly pretty

2:27:56 affectionate towards you. What's it mean

2:27:58 to play such a big role? We've always

2:27:59 known the glove was something that was

2:28:01 special that stood out about you and now

2:28:03 to know the value, the extra value it

2:28:05 brings. I mean, that's got to feel

2:28:06 great.

2:28:06 >> Oh, yeah. It's been awesome being a

2:28:08 designated fielder. It's been great. You

2:28:09 know, getting some more playing time at

2:28:11 first and just showing what I can do.

2:28:12 I'm in my element.

2:28:14 >> Ziggy, you're the first guy not named

2:28:17 Kyle Jackson to be showman of the game

2:28:18 for the Bananas. How's that feel?

2:28:21 >> It feels great to be in the same

2:28:22 sentence as him. I love that.

2:28:24 >> Ziggy, finally, our last question for

2:28:26 you comes from 5-year-old Liam from

2:28:27 Banana Ball backstage. What's your

2:28:29 favorite dinosaur?

2:28:30 >> The raptor. The velociraptor. They're

2:28:33 fast, baby.

2:28:35 >> Fast. Ziggy's fast. He's dangerous. And

2:28:37 he's our showman of the game, guys.

2:28:40 Thank you, Sam Bowman. Very impressive

2:28:43 that you were able to keep your

2:28:45 composure throughout the madness from

2:28:48 the Savannah Bananas.

2:28:50 And their beloved fifthyear member, Alex

2:28:54 Ziggler, the kid out of Butler,

2:28:55 Pennsylvania, the designated fielder,

2:28:57 the first designated fielder to ever win

2:28:59 showman of the game in Banana Ball

2:29:01 history. As we welcome you back inside,

2:29:02 Josh Tipsky, Zack Stton, I am Bo Scalla.

2:29:06 A major thank you for sticking with us

2:29:08 on this rain. soaked Sunday in Banana

2:29:12 Land. Uh 5-1 victory for the Nanners.

2:29:15 The 30 combined trick plays just one shy

2:29:17 of tying the record that was set last

2:29:20 March 21st, which was actually a game

2:29:22 the Bananas only had 13 trick plays. And

2:29:23 the Party Animals had 18 trick plays in

2:29:26 that ball game. But really impressive

2:29:27 from both squads. 18 trick plays from

2:29:29 the Nanners, 12 from the firefighters.

2:29:31 And this banana squad looks dangerous.

2:29:33 Look, I think when you think about those

2:29:34 trick play records, the visiting team

2:29:36 has to push the home team when you want

2:29:38 to see those records set. And the

2:29:40 Bananas certainly did that against the

2:29:42 Firefighters in today's competition. But

2:29:44 once again, I mean, I already feel like

2:29:46 a broken record. Three games into the

2:29:48 season, the pitching shined for the

2:29:50 Savannah Bananas. Across 18 offensive

2:29:52 innings for the Firefighters this

2:29:54 weekend, they scored just three runs

2:29:57 against the Savannah Bananas. and their

2:29:59 pitching staff only allowed three total

2:30:02 ball four sprints. They stayed in the

2:30:04 zone very well all weekend long, worked

2:30:06 themselves out of trouble as well, and

2:30:09 they hope to continue to dominate

2:30:10 against the Party Animals. That will

2:30:12 certainly be a true test for that

2:30:14 pitching staff considering the Party

2:30:16 Animals were the best offense in Banana

2:30:18 Ball a season ago. Not a doubt about it.

2:30:21 And for everybody keeping track across

2:30:22 the tour, that is four ball four sprints

2:30:25 for the Bananas pitching staff in the

2:30:26 entire year. Two of them came from

2:30:28 Frankie Moscatello in the ninth inning

2:30:30 right there. Uh Zack Stton, the

2:30:32 firefighters are 0 and3, but there's a

2:30:35 lot of potential on this team. They're

2:30:36 going to be getting the bats of Eric

2:30:37 Jones Jr. and Armando Basetta back in

2:30:39 the lineup next week. Uh this is a squad

2:30:42 0 and three, but they get the coconuts

2:30:44 again and there's got to be a lot of

2:30:45 hope and I mean we're three games into a

2:30:48 60game season here. Uh there's still a

2:30:50 lot of season left.

2:30:51 >> Look, this team has been thrown a couple

2:30:52 of hurdles throughout the first couple

2:30:53 of weeks. Ron Franklin out for the

2:30:55 season with an injury. You don't have EJ

2:30:57 tonight. You don't have Armando Bisera

2:30:58 this weekend. Two really important

2:31:00 players. Guys are playing a little bit

2:31:01 out of position in some places. You got

2:31:03 the trick plague part down today. I

2:31:05 think that's a massive part going into

2:31:06 Little Rock. But the Bats have to wake

2:31:09 up. You just said it. Three runs across

2:31:11 18 offensive innings. There were runners

2:31:13 left in the fifth, the sixth, and the

2:31:15 ninth. And in two of those innings, they

2:31:17 were on second and third. And in two of

2:31:18 those innings, the Bananas didn't score.

2:31:20 You have to find ways to bring home

2:31:21 runs. They'll get there again. Three

2:31:23 games into the World Tour, but the

2:31:25 adversity is already piling up.

2:31:27 >> 100%. A short-handed firefighter squad

2:31:29 gets swept this weekend. Let's talk

2:31:30 about what's on the docket next week.

2:31:32 You talked about Little Rock. That's

2:31:34 where the firefighters will be the

2:31:36 headlining squad against the Loco Beach

2:31:38 Coconuts. So, a rematch of the opener of

2:31:40 this tour. And then in Round Rock,

2:31:42 Texas, that'll be a really fun one. The

2:31:44 Texas Tailgator take on the Indianapolis

2:31:46 Clowns for the first time ever. And then

2:31:48 we get the original matchup in the

2:31:50 sport, the Bananas against the party

2:31:52 animals in the Caesar Superdome down in

2:31:55 New Orleans. It's going to be another

2:31:56 jam-packed sixgame weekend of Banana

2:31:59 Ball. Cannot wait to see what unfolds

2:32:00 next week.

2:32:01 >> Yeah, it's certainly going to be

2:32:02 exciting again. Just so cool to see our

2:32:05 first ever weekend with three games

2:32:07 happening all at once. So much cool

2:32:09 stuff happening around this Banana Ball

2:32:12 Championship League when you consider

2:32:13 the thrilling endings last night. And

2:32:16 again, the bananas have just been so

2:32:17 dominant. We haven't yet seen one of

2:32:19 those thrilling endings. They have just

2:32:21 been so gosh darn good. Well, it all

2:32:24 continues next Saturday. As always,

2:32:26 every game will be free on YouTube next

2:32:29 weekend. The Savannah Bananas YouTube,

2:32:30 the Texas Tailgator YouTube, and the

2:32:32 Firefighters YouTube with Zack Stton and

2:32:34 AJ Switech in Little Rock. Thank you all

2:32:37 so much for spending the weekend with us

2:32:39 here in virtual Banana Land. A massive

2:32:41 shout out to our entire crew here in the

2:32:43 BTV world. Another fantastic job

2:32:46 producing this broadcast from Chad

2:32:48 Reese. The directing absolutely

2:32:50 phenomenal from Alex Gross. And the same

2:32:52 goes for everybody in that control room.

2:32:54 Bangup job from the folks there. The

2:32:56 camera operators are engineers. Uh this

2:32:59 has been a really fun weekend. Thanks to

2:33:00 Sam Bowman down on the field. Thank you

2:33:03 Josh Tleski and Zack Ston very much. the

2:33:06 first threeman booth for a full game in

2:33:08 Banana Ball since the double header in

2:33:11 Milwaukee back at Franklin Field at the

2:33:14 end. Uh it would be September of Yeah,

2:33:16 correct. September 9th. That's why he's

2:33:20 dates. Yeah, you bet. That would be

2:33:21 September 9th of 2023. Uh it was a

2:33:24 blast. Can't wait to do it again with

2:33:25 you guys. For now, I'm Bo Scala saying

2:33:28 so long. We'll see you next Saturday

2:33:30 night. And of course, we will see you

2:33:32 later.

2:33:48 I got trivia.

2:34:16 Welcome.

2:34:28 Heat. Heat. N.
